Loved the meal and service. Been twice now and will be back
If you've been to the Living
If you've been to the Living Room before, you know what you're getting. We went quite early, before going to the theatre later on. Food, atmosphere, service etc was to a high standard as always. Very nice NZ sauvignon blanc.
Night out with friends
The Living Room is a fantastic restaurant - amazing food, atmosphere and location. The only minor problem was the delay between the starters and main course arriving however the waitress proactively addressed this when she brought the bill. Would highly recommend to anyone
food ,service really good
food ,service really good only one small fault tables were heavily scratched but will not deter us from returning.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staf
Had a lovely meal int he Newcastle restaurant on a Saturday night in March - cocktails were great and staff very attentive and friendly. Would certainly recommend and will visit again. The live music was a treat and gave a great atmosphere
I would definitely recommend the Living Room as a place to go when in Newcastle. I took my husband for lunch and he was very impressed with the quality of the food and all the friends I've taken have also enjoyed it.
Absolutely delicious meal, helpful and pleasant staff. I've been there before but was very very good. Their chips were something else!
I booked this for a nice girlie meal out to catch up with some friends, we were all impressed with the service and the amazing food. It was very good value for money and the atmosphere was really nice, with good chilled out music, especially the live music that was on and it was still not so loud that we couldnt have a good chat. Would definately go back again!
Group of 11
Service and staff were excellent as was the food. However there was an issue with the ladies toilets. They were completely flooded the smell was unbearable and sinks and toilets were all blocked and one full of sick.
I have eaten in many of the Living Room venues across the UK andNewcastle kept up the standard of excellent service and good food at reasonable prices.
The ladies that looked after our table of six business men were attentive and very pleasant . The food is good with healthy sized portions. I thoroughly enjoyed the trio of pork. Wine choice is good with value and plenty to choose if you want something a little more special. It was a Tuesday night so hardly packed but retiring to the bar after the meal kept us there for another couple of drinks. Well done.
Pre theatre and timing of booking
Service was impeccable, food lovely( 6 different meals and drinks ) for our party of 8 apart from the speed of receiving the bill. Some members were a little concerned that we'd be late for the show. Having asked for the bill and telling the staff we were on our way to the theatre ( and which one ) one party member eventually left the table and found someone to work out the bill while he stood there and pay it . This is the reason the service is rated only Good.
Perfect Score on all counts
This was our second visit to the Living Room in Newcastle and it didn't fail to please. The cocktails were lovely. The food came looking unusual well presented it was almost a shame to eat it, but eat it we did. The food was flawless from start to finish, I honestly don't think I've had a fillet steak as perfect as this one in my life (I tell a lie, maybe the last time we were at The Living Room - consistency bonus points). Staff were friendly and helpful and only around enough to be available but not lingering.
Popped in for an early bite to eat before heading to the Theatre Royal. Exceptional service, with no waiting time for any course. Choice of food is fantastic, some great items on the menu and everything is cooked to perfection. Great ambiance in the restaurant and the bar areas were certainly jumping!!! Great choice of wines and drinks. Just an amazing venue and meal.
fantastic service and great food
Love the new menu and liked how the old favourites are still on there. I wanted something additional and that was happily done for me by Anthony, no problems at all. Loved the presentation of all of the food, a real talking point. Cocktails were fabulous as always too!!
Was a little concerned after seeing some recent reviews, but shouldn't have been. The service was some of the best weve come across and the new menu was great - much more variety and still some of the old faves!! The Grande desert was gorgeous as was many flavours and twists in many (we had 7!!) "sharers". So, unlike others may be doing ( it was pretty quiet for a Thursday night) go and see for yourself!!
Day out late lunch
Excellent service from arrival and whole menu explained to give you as much information as possible
Staff very friendly and attentive. Didn't wait at all to be seated. Decent gap between courses. Prices very reasonable. Food very good.
My friends and I had a wonderful
My friends and I had a wonderful evening at the Living Room in Newcastle on Friday.
Starting with fabulous cocktails and moving onto wonderful food, the experience was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were lovely.
The icing on the cake was Shaun whose attentiveness was exceptional. He recommended wine, explained the food, everything. He was fantastic.
Well done, The Living Room. Once again you score top marks - nothing in Newcastle can compare for ambience and the whole dining experience.
We were very pleased with our visit to The Living Room - we got a lot of attention, the food was great, the service was great and the value for money was excellent. They were even able to cater for my brother who wanted a blue cheese sauce for his steak (even though it wasn't on the menu)! I was very impressed by the quality of food and service, and would recommend it to anyone. Definitely going back!
Excellent food and service
Excellent food and service in nice surrounding. slight error in order, rectified promptly, very fairly and took nothing away from the overall dining experience. would highly recommend.
Loved the welcome from friendly and interested staff. The steaks were cooked to perfection, as was the succulent duck breast. The shrimp salad was novel, interesting and greatly enjoyed. Will definitely revisit.
A few friends from work went to the Living Room one weekday lunchtime. The food was excellent although the portion sizes aren't huge - particularly on the grazing menu. If you're picking from this part of the menu I would defintely get a side. We had vouchers for 25% off which definitely made it better value as it's potentially a little pricey otherwise. Service was great but it did take a while for the food to come out - despite there not being very many in at that time.
Great for a special occasion as the atmosphere and style of the place is defintiely a bit of a treat.
Had a lovely night with beautiful food in very attractive surroundings. Will definitely be back!
meal out to impress!
we took a bunch of people out for a business dinner and this was just great...food fab, service really good and great value for money....only downside was it got quite rowdy when the bar filled up at 11ish and we were still eating in the restaurant...lots of very drunk very loud people who looked to be on a hen party staggering through the restaurant area which wasnt good...and was only a wed night
Gourmet comfort food
We used a groupon deal here which was very reasonably priced. I would describe the food as gourmet comfort food - my favourite :-)
The house red wine was also lovely.
Great Food and Live Music
Our party of five recently enjoyed a visit to The Living Room Newcastle as part of a city break. We have ate here before and returned hoping for the same quality food and service that we have previously experienced. We each ordered a starter and main from the menu and were very happy with our choices. The waiters were friendly and helpful despite the restaurant being full. The live music made the night for us - a piano and guitar duo who were very talented.
Ate from the set menu of 3 courses for £15, food was tasty and good service. Along with meal you can get a bottle of wine for £10 so overally a great value meal. The actual venue is very well presented wil live music whilst we were there.
Good value set menu
Have ate in this restaurant many times and generally find the food good but sometimes the service isn't so hot at busy times.
Family meal after work on a Tuesday night so restaurant was quite quiet (in a good way) and the set menu was very good value and the food was excellent. Hope they continue to offer this going forward as I note they are no longer on the Taste Card list of which I am a member.
Excellent steak on a Groupon deal. Learnt that they might have something similarish anyway. A good candidate for a repeat visit
Enjoyed a lovely family meal in beautifully designed and very comfortable surrounding. Good lighting and plenty of space between tables. Midweek, so quite quiet, which meant we could have a conversation without shouting. The staff were wonderful - friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Gorgeous food - in particular the dessert cocktails (you've got to try the apple pie cocktail!). The Living Room has fast become one of our favourite restaurants, so I'm sure there'll be many more visits in the future. Have, and will continue to recommend this excellent restaurant to family, friends and acquaintances for its wonderfully welcoming and customer focused approach, as well as its feel good ambiance and very real value for money.
Went to the Living room to celebrate my birthday. Great service in particular!
ladies who lunched
We enjoyed a lovely meal, the atmosphere was great and we enjoyed attentive service - thank you
Groupon Steak meal for 2
It was a Groupon steak dinner ,sauces included, with desert and a glass of wine each all for £29 .
The food was superb, nicely presented and tasty. There was no choice as it was a set meal but what we had was very good value, even the glass of wine was decent(not always the case with past Groupon deals).
It was a Thursday evening and quite busy with a pleasant atmosphere.
The only negative was that we had to ask for cutlery after the meal had been served but this wasn't a problem and I wish I'd purchased another voucher. Will be visiting again.
We went to the Living Room for an anniversary dinner and were not disappointed
The food was delicious and the 2 waitresses were excellent and very friendly
We really enjoyed our evening and would certainly go back again
Good value, excellent food
Good value and excellent food. Very friendly service but very slow delivery of food from kitchen.
Good for groups
5 of us ate here and the food was of a good quality, with something for everyone. Good atmosphere for a meal before a night out in the city centre. Great service too
First time dining at the Living
First time dining at the Living Rooms. Great menu choice with a good atmosphere and the food was fantastic. The service was particularly good with our waiter being exceptional. Highly recommend.
Great buzz and nosh
Lovely meal, served with good timing. Party atmosphere as evening went on. Live music was excellent. Food fresh and hot when arrived. Nice relaxed dining, reasonably priced and as you'd expect, it was the drinks that really pushed the bill up.
Had an amazing meal at livingroom, being a vegetarian i struggle to find restaurants with choice. However there was a few different options on the menu and i opted for the veggie glamorgan sausages which were extremly tasty!
The staff were very friendly and really made us feel welcome.
Also the cocktails were on 2 for one mix and match, i really enjoyed the spiced mojito and english garden! :)
Ladies who lunch
The service and food are both second to none for the price. The menu selection is ideal, something for everyone. Classy surroundings
had the potential to be great
Lovely location excellent decor great ambiance the wine was lovely and reasonably priced but my starter was undercooked worrying when it was chicken on the bone the nsin course was gorgeous lamb rump lovely and pink dessert was a sharing plate and that was excellent eton mess sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate torte with icecream.. very good had the starter been ok I would have given 5 stars the service was friendly in the restaurant but the bar service was very slow but when I complained they did apologise I would return purely gor the lamb though
a thoroughly enjoyable evening
The quality of the food was high and the service was good.I would highly recommend this restauarant.Setting also very nice.
feeling at home at the Living Room
Stayed in Newcastle to watch a football match .As True Blues supporter won't discuss the result . Next to this sadness felt fully happy and well treated in the living room
Nice atmosphere, starter(mussels) , main ( rump stew as dessert ( cheese wood) of exceptional quality as was my sons meal. However what really made the meal was the very attentive restaurant staff. Friendly , professional and with an exceptional customer focus.Unfortunately I do not have her name , such staff is priceless.
Great Food, Friendly Staff
I have been to the Living Room many times now and always enjoy my meal and the general ambience of the place. The service is always good and the staff are very friendly. The food is very reasonably priced and there is a good variety of choices on the set menu.
Lovely Food and Top Service
We went here early in the evening and the staff were lovely and accomodating making suggestions and happy to help and be on hand. The food was really nice and my wife is a vegeatrian and found plenty of choice to choose from
I've been to this restaurant
I've been to this restaurant before and historically have found the service to be quite slow. On this occasion it was absolutely fine. The drinks and food arrived promptly and the staff were really attentive. Good food, nice atmosphere and good service. I will definitely go back again. We were running late due to public transport difficulties and so I rang to advise. They assured me it was no problem and I felt very reassured by their response.
We arrived at the restaurant
We arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes before our booking, but were able to be seated straight away. There were a number of menu's to choose from as we were dining late afternoon, so was lunch menu till 5pm or dinner menu available. Lots of different price ranges for all pockets! I would have preferred to be in the main restaurant rather than in a side area, but this was probably because it was just my husband and I.
I have been before and the food was both times, would definitely recommend at anytime.
There was a good choice of food on the menu, and we found it quite difficult to choose. One of us had the Duck Spring Rolls starter whilst the other had Mussels Mariniere - both very good. Only complaint was that mussels were in a lot of sauce, but no bread was offered. We asked for bread which was greeted with 'of course no problem' which was great - but we were shocked to find £2.00 had been added to our bill for some ciabatta. We also opted for the same main course - fillet steak cooked rare. The steak was cooked brilliantly and just as we like it, and the tomato, onions, sauce, and chips accompanying were good too. The room was a little cold, and the service was sometimes slow and indifferent which are our only gripes from the evening.
Beautiful food (rump steak x 2, chocolate fondant, sticky toffee pudding) and faultless service. Would certainly recommend for an evening out, particularly with the two guys on piano and guitar playing such great music too!
Only reason not full marks is due to the interruptions from the lairy drunk guys in the adjacent bar (joining in on the microphone karaoke style!) but this was swiftly dealt with by restaurant staff.
Service at the Living Room
Service at the Living Room in Newcastle was great. Food was served quickly but was also very fresh. Very good value for money. 3 courses plus cocktails cost about £30 each. Will eat here again .
