Consistently great food and service
This was my third visit to the Brigade. The quality of the food and the service never fail to impress. It's a great place for a catch up with friends or for a special occasion. I highly recommend it and I will definitely be returning there myself.
A very enjoyable evening
We went to Brigade Bar and Bistro for my boyfriend's birthday. We arrived for a late dinner on a Monday night so it was pretty quiet. However, we were given a warm reception and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The meal options were rather limited but the food was excellent. My boyfriend had the rib eye and said it's the best steak he's had in this country. Although we were very full we decided we would share a dessert and had the passionfruit meringue pie - simply wow! The only negative was I thought my glass of wine was a little pricey but it could be argued that's what you pay for quality.
I would recommend others go here and if we're in the area we would definitely go back.
An excellent restaurant
Excellent seasonal fayre. Well prepared and presented. Good range of wines by the glass. Staff wee able to advise on the menu and thank you to the waitress who made my wife feel very special.:)
Went here after a trip to
Went here after a trip to the shard on our anniversary. We had a nice table near the window and the waitress was very helpful and attentive throughout the evening. We ordered some starters and this took some time so if hungry order some bread or olives or something.. Although when they arrived they were delicious! We had some similarly well presented and tasty mains too but were too stuffed for dessert!
Brigade after the Shard
Brigade provided a warm and romantic atmosphere in a chic modern restaurant which was a great way to follow on with dinner after having viewed London from the Shard. The Pinot Grigio wine was the best I've ever tasted and the food was wholesome, flavoursome and creatively presented. A chic and friendly restaurant with an exclusive menu that won't disappoint. I thoroughly recommend dinner here.
Visiting from Philadelphia
We choose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel. When we arrived it was not totally full so we were a little bit nervous. It turned out to be a very nice restaurant. First, the staff was very friendly and helpful. There was an interesting selection of entrees to choose from, that was most definitely modern British, as their website described. The food was not too heavy and great tasting. There were three of us eating out; we ordered beet root salad, a welsh rabbit starter and fish and salad dishes for dinner. We all agreed the food was very good and the meringue pie dessert was surprising delicious.
This is my second visit and
This is my second visit and the menu and quality of food is amazing
Very nearly excellent
Presentation impeccable throughout the meal. Notable starters - thinly sliced, beautifully seasoned heritage betroot rainbow with crusted goat's cheese.
Mains good but could be better: sea bream not uniformly crispy and sauced rather blandly for my taste. Ravioli - perhaps too big and as a result, rather squishy (technical term for limp!).
Desserts promised well, looked great. Perfection would have been crisper meringue.
We read reviews and decided to go, like others, after visiting the Shard. The service was great and the food lovely. Can recommend the scaloops, steak and asparagus. The only crititism was price of wine. Definitely going back here!
Great food and atmosphere
Fantastic food and venue for meeting up with a group of friends.
This is a really nice place to eat.
Seriously. Alongside the good work it does as a training kitchen (google it), Brigade knocks out a fine meal. I ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the scotch egg with potted pork. My egg arrived halved, oozing a runny yolk. Brilliant. The apple chutney atop the small pot of pork divine. I wish I had more. I followed it with a fillet cooked with skill and accompanied by a rich pearl barley risotto. I practically licked my plate clean.
Service was very good. Friendly and unintrusive. I cannot speak for the service when the resteraunt is full as sadly, despite eating there at peak-time, barely a quarter of the tables were taken. I hope this changes. Brigade deserves a larger following.
From the moment we arrived
From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome, the service was just right not too pushy but there just when you needed it. Enjoyed watching the food being cooked, menu was great and we both enjoyed our lunch, would recommed it to friends and family and will certainly eat there again.
Brigade lived up to expectations and was very pleasant with good food and wine. The service was great too, the only thing perhaps slightly lacking was the atmosphere, but that is being ultra critical, especially given that we weren't there for an evening meal. We'll definitely be back.
Great food and service. Will return
Was a group booking, but had last minute cancellations, very understanding. The food was delicious!! One of us ordered beans on toast for starters, with some pork pieces on top. The beans were on the hard side but was delicious overall. The other starter was pork, apple and crackling, it looked delicious and it was. The crackling was a bit on the hard side though so be careful with the teeth. It was a good size portion. For mains we had, beef and oxtail burger with chips, and ale fish and chips. With honey beet root as side. Chips were really tasty. The portions were great again. Overall the food was a delicious hearty meal, attentive staff. Prices are reasonable normally but only value for money with 2 for 1 offer. Will return with offer!
Great Business Lunch
Really nice menu with some unusual additions. Great value with the toptable offer. Staff were very friendly and helpful with our requirements.
Great evening with friends
It was our first visit here and we all had an enjoyable evening. The food, ambience and service were excellent and we would certainly go back! The Building was interesting to!
Good Date Night Choice
Nice welcome and were seen to promptly. Staff polite and great to see the owner in the restaurant making sure customers were seen to and also joined in seeing to tables. Great wine list with informative staff with great suggestions for both food and wine. Would happily go back again and have already recommended it to friends.
Really good value meal with
Really good value meal with the TT deal. Always fresh seasonal ingredients and good service. We always enjoy dining here.
Brigade - Always enjoyable!
Having eaten at Brigade Bar on a number of occassion it never fails to impress. The menu is interesting, the presentation superb and the flavours and combinations fabulous! It seems to get better every time i go (every 3 - 6mths). Service is relaxed but professional and they are genuinely pleasant individuals. Open kitchen is a big plus and i believe they have an apprenticeship scheme to help those who may have had a rough time in life to get another chance. The restaurant works wonderfully all in, and would recommend to anyone!
Best creme brûlée I've ever had!
Brigade was great, good quality english sourced food at an amazing price (2-4-1 deal)
The creme brûlée with lavender and manukau honey ice cream was literally immense! Worth a visit!
good value, good food
just a little sketchy on the service. but on the offer booking a good quality meal. when the bill came they had 'forgotten' about the offer and we had to send the bill back. that does take the good ness out of an offer when you either have to ask for the offer menu when you sit down or it gets over looked at the bill stage.
Their 2 for 1 dinner deal is great. Food is fast & yummy, well worth a visit
We visited here for a late lunch whilst in London, and were very impressed
With the service, quality of food and amazing deal through Top Table.
We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant & will return.
Great food and service at Brigade
Nice atmosphere with the bar to meet up in before dinner. Very relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable staff
My friend had an excellent meal which was great value for money. Brilliant service. Will definitely come again.
Chose the restaurant as on top table offer. The food was excellent, starting with lovely breads. Our waiter was really helpful and our table was in their private dining room which was perfect for our group.
I was really impressed with the food, especially at the top table price.
Would definitely return.
Good restaurant near London Bridge
Excellent starters, mains were fine but nothing special. Great setting and nice ambience on a Wednesday night. With the TT 241 offer it was good value and I would go again, but without the offer the food is overpriced.
A little bit rushed
The only issue my friend and I had was that out main courses were brought to us as soon as the starter plates were taken away. There was no break in between courses which made the meal seem rushed. The waiter was apologetic when I complained. Other than that the food was delicious and nicely presented, service was cheerful and the setting modern yet relaxed. The Tastecard made it good value and it can be used on Saturdays too. Will certainly go back.
All was alright on Friday night!
We found the Brigade Bar & Bistro on Top Table as it had a 2 for 1 offer on all courses. The menu looked interesting and so we booked. It was easy to find and well located (a little walk down the river from London Bridge). We were impressed with the friendly staff, awesome art on the walls and the table glasses before we even ate the food. It was lovely - I opted for the vegetable terrine, chicken with garlic potatoes and the lavender crème brulee; I could not fault a thing. My partner had the scotch egg, oxtail & steak burger and the carrot & walnut cake; again it was perfect &very delicious (especially the oxtail). I would definitely go back if the deal was still on unless there was a special occasion and then I may well pay full price!
Your food ££s put to good use
The Brigade is, as you much know by now, in an old fire station. Loved the decor, lots of brickwork. You walk into the lively bar and through to the dining room. Not too noisy as the after work drinks crew were gone by about 8. Service was excellent, the food was very good. My only mini-gripe is that the portions of some of the dishes seemed to be a bit small. But the prices were good, especially when you add the 2-1 deal that we had. The restaurant is a training ground for new chefs, people who need a bit of a hand up in life. So not only are you getting a good dinner and lovely surroundings, you're helping people as well. Short walk from London Bridge, on the way to Bermondsey so good location. Tables outside. You should eat here.
Go and try it
Went for the BOGOF offer last week and the meals offered from either the menu or the chalk board were very tasty. The open kitchen is good to watch and learn. Service of the food and drinks was faultless and timely. Its worthy of a visit.
Great value with 2 for 1 offer
Eaten here a few times - great food, especially the steak and chips. And with a 2 for 1 voucher great value.
Another lovely meal at Brigade. The menu isn't extensive or grand looking but the food is really good. I like the social conscience too with disadvantaged kids trained in the kitchen. The pork belly starter was as good as I've had anywhere. Delicious. The monkfish was good too. Inexpensive wine list and what we had was good. Good service and great value. We'll be back
The food was outstanding, smile but incredably tasty. I had smoked trout with shoots and potatoe bread for starter and it was so deliciouse, really delicate flavours that worked beautifully together. The pork belly was juicy and tender and full of flavour, and the lavender crem brûlée was he best I've ever had!
Service is relaxed but attentive and the surroundings are modern but cosy.
The only bad point was the mixed toilets that were not that clean and had run out of loo roll.
Overall had a fab night and will be going back soon!
A great venue for starters and service was outstanding- as a party of 6 we had a private room at the back which was perfect -private but connected. Waiters were knowledgeable and prompt - it's always a bonus when service remembers what dish was ordered where and don't need to check- outstanding. The only slight let down was the quality of the supporting elements to the dishes- 'chips' for instance were non-crispy wedges, the 'salad' simply one leaf of iceberg. It's almost there though and the venue is worth the trip. We ordered mainly from the 'classics' part of the menu- I think on reflection the more 'restaurant' dishes were probably better prepared. Would recommend.
Dining out on a school night
A varied menu with some really lovely ingredients and pairings. I had a mushroom bruschette type thing to start which was rich in flavour and a little heavy. Had I known I would have chosen a lighter main. Unfortunately I had chosen the mullet. It aas very good but bordering on being overcooked and some on the other seafood elements were very overcooked, bordering on rubbery. On the plus side all the dishes were beautifully presented.
Service was spot on. Food
Service was spot on. Food good but glad it was on a deal, else I would have been writing something a little less complementary here
The service from the moment our party arrive was reasonable, nothing was to much trouble from once we were seated. Drinks served whilst browsing over the menu.Quite a few notice the open kitchen and the hygiene of the prep station although this waslet down by staff who scratched their hair or otherparts of their face. Food wise a good cross sectionwas had and enjoyed. However advast comments towards the cost of the wine.
A lovely restaurant, with
A lovely restaurant, with great modern ambience in a fine historic building. The service and food were outstanding. The view of the open kitchen is interesting, and you can watch the food being prepared, which is very reassuring ! This is the first time I have been to this restaurant but I will certainly be going again. One word of caution - the after work crowd can be very noisy in the bar (although this is not too intrusive on the dining area), so you might need to choose your dining time carefully.
great dining experience
We had fabulous food - a fine dining experience. Would definitely recommend it to anyone and will be returning on my next visit to London. Great to know too that the restaurant is helping people to get back into the workplace and gain experience (which means sometimes that the people who serve may not be quite up to speed), however on this occasion that was not the case.
We had a great private dining
We had a great private dining room for a birthday party - very special.
Tasty food in a pleasant environmen
A great lunch served in a friendly and unhurried manner but this was a Tuesday. The food was of a high standard and reasonably priced. I would recomment it.
Efficient, friendly , good food and great VFM. What more can you ask for?
Fierce local competition will keep it on its toes.
Another good meal here
I came back as I was really impressed with my first meal here and they didn't disappoint again. The food was excellent and my only complaint was I wasn't overly keen on the dessert. However with the taste card the value was great and I will go back (minus dessert).
Great food with a conscience
We loved the food at Brigade, which was generally delicious,
and they have a short but thoughtfully put together menu. The service was very attentive and It was great to learn about their apprenticeship project as well. The place is quite noisy as the restaurant is next to the bar, which on a Thursday night was packed with suits. Excellent value with toptable's offer.
Friday night dinner
Dined here with work colleagues on a Friday night. Bar area was very loud and lively but the restaurant section is in a separate area which was quieter so we were not shouting at each other. Had the TT deal of 2 for 1 on starters, mains and desserts. Food was enjoyed by us all, steaks were cooked medium rare as ordered and the portions were more than adequate. We did not have room for desserts. Good wine list, staff are keen to keep your glasses topped up. Service was with a smile and we were never rushed along. Nice venue, close to London Bridge and would be happy to return next time I'm in the area.
Brigade 16 Nov
We had a very pleasant evening at Brigade on a Saturday evening. Although it ws early there were plenty diners already there and the restaurant filled up later giving a nice ambience.
The waitresses were attentive and helpful, There was a good choice of food across all courses and some interesting dishes and combinations. Mushrooms with duck egg as a starter and pheasant as a main course were popular.
There was a good selection of wines at reasonable prices.
On the day that we ate at Brigade there was a two for one offer on food which made the final bill very reasonable
Brigade Bar & Bistro
On a cold November evening this place felt like a welcome warm sanctuary. Greeted as we arrived, seated swiftly & looked after attentively from start to finish, we felt at home here. Food was inventive with some reassuring classics, good choice of wines too. Top table deal made it a great value meal. Staff really were friendly & helpful. Could have stayed longer but we had a train to catch...its just a 4 minute walk to London bridge station. Highly recommend!
A good varied menu
Lots of choice on the menu for adventurous and fussy eaters and the food is excellent. The duck comes in pastry which we didn't realise but it was still very nice. It was quite quiet on a Saturday night, but overall a very enjoyable experience!
Everything was good
This was our first visit to the restaurant and we found the food and service excellent. With the 2 for 1 on food offer, the value was for money was great and the only slight quibble I would have is the level of background noise, even though it was not completely full at the time. I have noticed this in other restaurants recently and is, I think, due to the hard floors and lack of furnishings to deaden the sound which are the current fashion.
