Dinner for Two
Food was very good. Wine was wonderful which made the meal even better. Not cheap but worth it.
Staff were fantastic - friendly and knowledgeable without being aloof or distant.
This is my third time to have lunch here and I always amazed with their quality of dishes and services.
greenhouse 5 course special
a wedding anniversary for self and wife-25 years but we are OAP's so the special offer £55 5 course meal was a real attraction and did not disappoint. We used to go to the GH a lot many year ago when we were earning but have not been for many years. It was lovely to go back and the food was excellent and the service outstanding especially the lady maitre d' who was everywhere including helping without being asked to the washroom a lady who had difficulty walking .very classy that.
An unforgetable experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit. We arrived at 6.10 - early & the welcome was poor - we were told they were not open but invited to sit in the bar area. The waiting staff made up for that by their attentiveness and care throughout the rest of the evening. The food was exquisite including my options as a vegetarian. Everything was beautifully presented & well served. Such a shame that so many London restaurants want the table back at a set time for another sitting - it rather spoils what should be a luxurious slow meal giving time to savour the delights & not have to time watch!
The best food and service in London. Amazing. Love it.
As always an excellent lunch, extensive wine list adds to the perfect food.
The Greenhouse is hot
Why did we wait so long before returning? We had the set menu and a deal so the food value for money was exceptional and left allowed us to have some good glasses of wine without breaking the bank. Choice was limited but adequate and as ever the food was delicious and this time there were little touches to add to the dining pleasure such as the presentation of the petit fours as flowers in a garden. Service is a great balance between too casual and too forbidding - just right. It is busy enough to add to the ambiance without ever seeming crowded and there is good spacing between tables. The Greenhouse is now my wife's favourite restaurant and who am I to disagree? Congratulations.
Sophisticated & Delightful
This was our second trip, and it was wonderful. All the food was stunning, classic but with fun twists, perfectly balanced and beautifully executed. The sommelier's knowledge and recommendations were spot on. The waiting staff were polite, knowledgeable and although attentive, not intrusive. We were given a surprise extra, as it was a special celebration for us, and this was unexpected but highly appreciated, and really made the evening spectacular and memorable. The tasting menu with the toptable deal was good value. My partner's favourite course - the mackerel starter, beautifully soft fish with a delishly salty sauce and crisp mooli; mine - the chocolate praline and popcorn dessert, just WOW!
Special ambience - don't go hungry
Tucked away in a peaceful oasis in Mayfair, this is a very special location which promised much. Although the service and presentation were impeccable throughout our lunch, we felt rather disappointed by the set lunch menu as we were limited to just two options for starter and main course, and only one for dessert (without paying £6 supplement for the cheese option). Portions were small. Suckling pig ballotine starter was beautifully presented but almost inedible, surrounded as it was by a thick layer of fat and served cold. Sea trout and duck main courses were perfectly executed but rather small in size. Overall we have had better experiences at other top class restaurants via toptable and I doubt we'll return to the Greenhouse.
It is the most afforable 2 Michelin Star restaurant. Everybody needs to eat here.
Quiet gastronomic heaven
This is a real haven off a Mews in Mayfair. It is easily the best Michelin starred restaurant in London with exquisite food, friendly staff and a stunning, peaceful ambience. We have dined in the best restaurants around the world, and this rates as one of the very best.
Serene location & fine dining
Exquisite location and decor. Certainly fine dining - with impeccable balance of flavours. Attentive & knowledgeable staff - but not overbearing or pompous. Excellent sommelier - willing to recommend from the vast wine by the glass without choosing the top prices (though the champagne by the glass rises rapidly from the base). Only downside for us was predominance of business lunchers - but who wouldn't entertain a client if you were local. Recommended - we got out for under a ton each !
4th time dinning here, booked the special promotion dinner to try with 2 teens but we would like to recommend the a la carte menu for dinner as you have lot more choices. The 6 course taster menu is ok but not outstanding, however their special set lunch was absolutely brillant. Services is always good - no fault at all.
Top presentation but not the food
Two of us had the autumn tasting menu. Service was brilliant, ambience was good and the presentation of the food was very good indeed. The portion was small - my bf was still hungry after 6 course tasting, which was ok as I don't expect good portion from a French restaurant.
However the taste of the food was average - nothing impressed me at all. canapes was too small to taste anything except a bit sality, soup was ok, cod was quite good, pigeon was a bit hard and taste nothing special, dessert was nice but not top notch, petite four was very cute but the tuffle is not as creamy& dark as I would like it to be.
Overall it was good but I won't go back for the food - probably the look of the food and service.
Probably the best French cuisine I have ever tried
The Greenhouse is one of our
The Greenhouse is one of our absolute favourites and we return there again and again.
We visited 'The Greenhouse' at lunchtime and the experience was outstanding. The restaurant is definitely on our revistit-list for our next trip to London. (And this list is not that long... ;-)
Excellent value with TopTable deal!
Greenhouse had just won 2* and we were very happy to see the £55 promotion for a 5 course+cocktail. I have been to the Greenhouse 3 times before and always really enjoyed it. They have upped their game - the service was impeccable and the food excellent.
It has been several years since I last dined at the Greenhouse and now that I have returned, I am not sure why it has been so long! The staff could not do enough to help, the food was delicious, innovative and beautifully presented. A wonderful oasis in the middle of Mayfair.
Second time and loved it!!
Amazing amazing amazing. Cannot think of any faults. This is the second time I have been to the Greenhouse - as vegetarians, the chef made a special menu for us. Everything was incredible. And great value at £55 for the 6 course tasting menu with a bellini and coffee. Also, if choosing wine, ask the sommelier to assist as there are hundreds to choose from!
Can't wait to return!!
Warm, cosy, relaxed and formal
We chose the Greenhouse for a romantic dinner for 2. We'd been here 12 years ago and were happy to find it was still as classy and under-stated as before. Great food, location and staff. It is not cheap and the portions are not large, but the level of cooking has risen to quite an expert level compared to say, Alain Ducasse.
Exceptional quality of food,
Exceptional quality of food, impeccable service and in such beautiful surroundings. The garden concept leading into the restaurant was particularly unusual for a Mayfair based restaurant and I can only imagine how beautiful the setting would be at dusk on a long summer evening. I'm definitely coming back.
Fabulous way to celebrate
I booked this restaurant to celebrate my Husband's promotion and he was really pleased with my choice. This was our first visit to The Greenhouse and it was slightly tricky to find but our first impressions were very good. The lighting on the walk way was beautiful in the dark. We were early so had a glass of champagne in the bar while the staff got their pep talk. We opted for the tasting menu and everything was delicious. My favourite dishes were the egg shell filled with egg, cep and truffle foam and the sea bass. The little pre-dinner treats were very clever, same as the pre-dessert. As we were celebrating, we were given little cakes with a tube of squeezy caramel sauce when we left. I would highly recommend and we def will be back.
Tasty and relaxed
Very creative textures and ingredient associations. Delicious in taste most importantly.
Impeccable service, just enough, formal but not too snotty.
Very peaceful set up in an unusual building.
Well deserved 2nd Michelin star
Except for the girl next to me
A fabulous restaurant!
I could not fault it on any aspect, beautiful interior elegant and comfortable. The food was inventive and presented with the wow factor. A menu which was clear and concise, you understood what you were getting, and what ingredients would be used. The service was unobtrusive and attentive.
The only problem.... A beautiful girl next to me that my husband couldn't stop looking at!
Highly recommended by someone who loves eating in town
A discovery and a delight
By selecting the Discovery Tasting menu with the accompanying wine flight we really didn't know what we were going to be served until it arrived; our trust was repaid, there was not a dish or wine that we were disappointed with. The menu was innovative and understated; beautifully presented dishes allowed every ingredient to speak for itself. From the simple but perfect white truffle risotto, to the complex seafood medley in a savoury jelly with a Basmati foam, that resembled a rock pool as the sea was ebbing. The accompanying wine was perfectly matched, with the flavours in the wine and food augmenting each other. My only minor complaint is that I would liked to have a little longer between courses to savour the experience.
the food was like nothing
the food was like nothing I have had the pleasure to eat & savour, not food to shove down your throat but to take your time over. The sommelier was rather "up himself" but the rest of the staff were very nice. it is expensive but a great treat
This is the real deal, every
This is the real deal, every dish a winner. Even the bread--chestnut flour rolls 2di4. Plus a superb wine list and attentive, but unobtrusive service. Not hard to see why they just got a second star. Special treat expensive, but the set lunch is great value. Elegant, if maybe a tad hedge-fund manager.
I didn't realise The Geeenhouse had two Michelin stars but after dining there on Tuesday night it makes sense. Great food. Service was tip notch.
Service, food quality, wine list....just an amazing dinner experience!
My wife and I celebrated at The Greenhouse and, in my wife's words, found the experience "magical". The service was precise and ready to please and the food on the tasing menu was extraordinary. Looking forward to another excuse to return.
Greenhouse Set Lunch
Excellent food at a very reasonable £35 including a Bellini, canapes and petit fours. With a glass of wine and service you can keep the bill to around £100 and have a great 2 michelin star experience.
Exceptional except for the service which was too officious and quick. I even had a glass of wine in my hand and they were trying to serve the next course!
It felt like a secret hideaway as it was very well hidden. A great find as food and service was excellent. Well cared for by all the staff, very attentive. It was an exceptional experience and each course, entertained your senses ! Would recommend to friends for sure.
A good show from start to finish
Everything I hoped for from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Food and wine were flawless and the service was professional and friendly.
This is an exceptional restaurant with very good inventive food and slick yet friendly service. The food has a very light touch, no excessive amounts of cream or butter, and contained several "never eaten that before" elements without trying too hard to be whacky or over elaborate. All three courses and the amuse bouche were excellent with highlights being a very delicate crab starter, a beetroot bonbon amuse bouche, the best squid dish I have ever eaten and some very well matched and decent value wines chosen for us by the glass by the sommelier. We will be back to sample the tasting menu at some point soon. 9/10
Had a business lunch on Wednesday. The service was excellent, food outstanding and ambience relaxing. Very, very good.....I will be going back.
great place,amazing food but pricey
everything about this restaurant is perfect. The food is amazing, the wine is brilliant, the service attentive. I would only go here for a VERY special occassion however as the price is quite toppy for what it is. We did have the taster menu however, so ordering a la carte maybe more reasonable.
My husband and I went on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is hidden in quiet street in Mayfair and one has to walk through a beautiful garden before reaching the restaurant.
We had the 8 course discovery menu - every course looked and tasted beautifully. The wine recommended by the sommelier went very well with our meals. The service was very attentive but allowed my husband and I to be lost in our own conversation and each other's company.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience with exceptional food, service and surrounding :)
One of the best in London
I went here for a business lunch for 2 of us on a Tuesday. It was comfortably busy and we had the topTable set menu option at £30pp and it was excellent value. The tables are well spaced out, the service is excellent and the food was fantastic. from the choices of breads, to the chocolates withthe coffee. It sits up there with Le Gavroche for me and I was so impressed that I have booked another business lunch for 3 next week. A no-risk choice for me.
The entrance at night to this restaurant was amazing and put you into the perfect mood the lighting reflecting into the restaurant set the scene for a very enjoyable experience. We had the taster menu which was excellent the salmon superb and the lamb also. Dessert and petit fours finished the meal beautifully. The wine pairing threw up some interesting combinations. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. This was a five star experience.
Epitome of perfection
Extraordinary experience. My two guests and I loved every minute. The food, service, ambience etc. Perfec
Excellent wine pairing; surprising
Excellent wine pairing; surprising and delicious exploration of flavor combinations
Beautiful isolated location in the heart of London.
Overall professional service.
Great location, tucked away
Great location, tucked away in the middle of Mayfair, lovely ambience inside the restaurant, service good from very friendly staff and fabulous food. We had the lunch menu which was great value at £35 per head and although the online menu is vast, there is a much smaller selection to go with the lunch dishes on that menu of affordable, as well as pricier, wines. Will definately return.
Great restaurant in lovely
Great restaurant in lovely setting. Highly recommend.
We had an excellent dining experience and took profit from an early evening offer for a tasting menu at reduced price.
We also followed the wine suggestions with the menu. The food was creative and excellent, while not overcomplicated. The choices of wine were also perfect. Exceptional very old sherry with the desert. And very friendly staff.
A recommendation without hesitation.
It was disappointing that the restaurant felt they had to "merchandise" the customer by placing the ala carte menus in the hands of the guests; rather obscuring the fact that there was a set menu choice at lunch (these smaller set menus were already placed somewhat inconspicuously on the table) and the waiter did not think to mention this as an alternative for the guests. The food and service are so good that such tactics belittle the otherwise great restaurant.
very small glasses in wine flight
We were late arriving and the restaurant wanted our table back at 9 pm, so our meal felt a bit rushed. That said, they were happy for us to have the tasting menu, which, at just 6 courses, is not as much as one might expect for £98 per person. That said, all courses were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The wine list is bewildering as it extends to 110 pages, so we opted for the Classic wine flight to accompany each course at £55 per person. On the face of it, this seemed good value for the 5 wines, except that the amounts poured by the sommelier were so small! 2 sips and the glass was empty! Whilst we enjoyed the variety, I felt that the 5 glasses came to no more than half a bottle in total, which made us feel short-changed.
All round excellence...
Booked for a lunch treat with work colleagues - food was amazing, inventive, creative and served with flair but also with friendliness. Atmosphere was great but we could converse easily and service was attentive yet also unobtrusive and put us instantly at ease. Thoroughly recommended.
today, the rice was mushy and the pineapple was a little bit off. Never in a Japanese restaurant is the maki mushy. Likewise, never in a Thai restaurant with coconut rice, is it mushy.
