Cheese board and champagne flights in Fortnum and Masons 1707! Super treat in a super place.
Service is excellent at Fortnum
Service is excellent at Fortnum & Mason 1707 wine bar - and always a pleasure to visit.
A rather special Wine Bar
There is a wide selection of wines and champagnes by the glass, flight or bottle. Attentive and informative service. Good menu of intersting lite bites to accompany the wine.
Was originally seated next
Was originally seated next to the toilet exit which we didn't like - people traffic was high and it made us feel quite closed in. Staff were more than happy to move us to a different table which was far more relaxing. I love the ambience, it's relaxed elegance with fabulous food and wine. We ordered the Gin & Tonic Salmon, Pork Platter and Peppers - all were amazing.
Cheese and wine
5 of us met up for cheese and wine. The good points: Ambience, Decor, Quality of Cheese / Wine were all great as you would expect from F&M. The bad points: We were rushed to order before 8pm (and as a result possibly didn't put enough care into our choices), the service was ok - not as good as we're used to here.
Actually good value
Really enjoyed it - visited following a visit to Bronzes exhibition at the RA.
Glass of wine around £6 and shared a large plate of mixed smoked salmons.
Very impressed with the staff - all so nice and accommodating.
Will definitely return
A long lunch at 1707 is a
A long lunch at 1707 is a very occasional but special treat - it's all about the venue and the wines ! The food is very good but the choice is somewhat limited and the portions moderate (if you are looking for a huge lunch this is not the place). However the service is excellent, and you are surrounded by many of the worlds great wines and delicacies which creates a very special ambience. The wines are excellent and the Fortnum & Mason pink champagne (supplied by Billecart Salmon) is exceptional value. For a fun lunch with family and friends it takes some beating.
A 2 Person F&M Party
Christmas time, the tree in Trafalgar Square, the Queen's eigthteenth century biscuit shop and a posh wine tasting experience - an enjoyable seasonal extravagance.
My partner and I took the Christmas wine flight and some nibbles. Champagne to start, a middleweight red to chat through and a cognac to warm the cockles for a walk around the West End Christmas lights. At about £65 a few hours well spent in a slightly different ambiance to a classic wine bar. If you're looking for intimate then it might not be the best choice, it's likely you share a table so leave the engagement ring at home.
I'd booked for 2 o'clock, my Girlfriend and I wanted a late lunch there last Sunday, a light lunch.
The service was fair as there were a few people there, the food choices were OK but, I thought, a little limited.
Overall it was a nice experience, the wine and cheese were lovely and the setting quite nice, I don't think anybody could really complain about the VFM as this is after all, Fortnums so it's going to be a touch expensive.
Really, quite a nice day out at Fortnum and Mason, worth a visit to the 1707 bar, I would recommend to a friend but, possibly wouldn't go again unless I was in the area.
Christmas Shop wind down.
After a hard afternoon's Christmas shopping among the throng, 1707 is the ideal retreat to rest, recuperate, and revive the soul with a glass or two, listening to the live jazz guitar before the trek home.
One can only hope that one day all shops will be as civilised as this!
Fortnum & Mason 1707 Bar
Love this place and Bollinger was the champagne of the month...so we really enjoyed ourselves!
It is a real pity that it closes so early. We have been there a few times and it used to close at around 11, but we now had to leave at 10.
Perfect after a busy day
A good venue for after work drink with friends or for pre-theatre meal. Tucked away in Fortnum and Mason's basement, this is an oasis amid the bustling West End and close to the theatre land if you need a quick drink and snack prior to the show. A good place for wine lovers.
Food was very good & service
Food was very good & service very efficient & friendly
We ordered 4 dishes between the 3 of us and put them in the middle of the table to share
Very good wine list also, try the flights of wine, great way of trying some different wines
Special wines in a special place
It was a lovely way to escape the crowds on a busy Saturday afternoon. Staff knowledgeable. Wine excellent. good chioce of snacks and light bites.
Great for All ages
With an age spread from 17 to 88 your 1707 bar restaurant was an ideal location where all could feel relaxed. Pity it was not running when I was 17 !
Nice wine bar, good food
I went to 1707 Wine Bar at Fortnum & Mason on a Monday evening. It was a good option for somewhere a bit quieter, as I was catching up with a friend and we wanted somewhere we could chat comfortably. The wine and food was as good as we expected. Service was a bit slacker than usual, which was disappointing. We stayed until 8pm, which is when it shut (we would have got kicked out otherwise). Not somewhere to go if you want music or a lively atmosphere but very good for a quiet drink or if you want to chat, etc.
We always have lunch at 1707 when in town. We like the casual feel, and love to sit at the bar taking our time, Wine flightsare a great idea. This time we weren't so impressed wth the salami on offer, but were very pleased with the cheese.
Service can vary, but is always good.
This is just a delightful
This is just a delightful place - not fussy, just relaxed, and with a good choice of enjoyable food to complement wines.
Loved the wine filghts!
Really nice ambience, very good service and excellent product appearance! We had a white wine filght and a cheese plater, it was all lovely! i would definately recommend if you are a wine lover!
Special treat for a girlfriends 50th birthday pre-theatre matinee. Excellent and knowledgeable service. Perfect menu to sample different dishes rather than a full meal, accompanied by an interesting wine selection.
Ambience a little lacking, but not necessary for gossiping girls!!! Would visit again.
Fantastic WIne Flights
We love the 1707 Wine Bar for its fantastic wine flights! They are a great way to try out several different wines from a particular region or grape variety. There is a wide variety of small dishes including a cheese plate to complement the wines perfectly! And if you arrive early, you can shop the amazing Fortnum & Mason Food Hall before going to your table. A great night out for anyone who enjoys great food and wine!
Chosen for a light lunch with
Chosen for a light lunch with a good bottle of wine - reasonably priced. Excellent meat platter and cheese platter with good bread. More than enough for the three of us. Chose a Riesling after they offered us a taste - good choice! Friendly and helpful service. Altogether a very enjoyable lunch.
Selection of cheeses and cold meats was great. Service was amazing!
Pre-theatre group of 8. We
Pre-theatre group of 8. We chose a wide range of sharing plates some of which appeared to come fresh from the deli counter of the shop. Superb selection of cheese, pate, hors'd etc etc. Wide variety to cater for the vegys in our group. Small but impressive and well thought out wine list and knowleagable staff.
We were in a hurry before a show but the service and quality were excellent. I wish we could have lingered all night so some of us came back a week later and were not disappointed.
Initially thought restaurant very close to food hall and shoppers, but warm welcome and attention of staff, really excellent food and wine made it a superb venue! Have already recommended to several people and would definitely return. Also managed to shop for a few gifts in the food hall!
Fantastic food and service; loved the wine "Flights". Have visited before and will come again.
We had a celebratory drink at 1707 prior to having Afternoon Tea in the Jubilee Salon. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food and wine tasting looked delicious too and I would definitely go back!
Wine & mezze bar
Lovely place to take a "flight" with a selection of wines and matching mezze plates to share. Great for brunch or afternoon drinks with great foodie options.
A great place to try different wines. They have selection of different flights of different types of wines, very reasonably priced. On top of that you can chose anything from the wine shop and pay a corkage of £10 to drink it in the bar. exceptional value and the ability to try some very different wines
dessert menu not really available as no freezers working and everything is served with ice cream or sorbet
My family and I celebrated my mum's 60th at the Wine Bar and loved every minute of it.
The service was outstanding, the food amazing and the wine and champage were wonderful!
I had booked our table for mid-afternoon (there was 8 of us which wasn't a problem at all) as we had dinner planned elsewhere.
We ordered a selection of nibbles to go with our champagne (the price was very reasonable!) and then ordered a bottle of rose (and more nibbles!)
The waiter delivered to our table a small cake for mum with 'Happy 60th Birthday' on it which was a lovely surprise for her. He also allowed us to compare wines to what we had ordered!
As previously mentioned, the service was excellent.
Highly recommend a lovely afternoon at F&M's 1707 Wine Bar.
A Grown Up Wine Bar
I went to 1707 Wine Bar on a Sunday afternoon with my husband. We both really enjoyed the afternoon and the extensive wine list on offer. The menu is not vast but there were a number of delicious sharing options that go really well with the wine or champagne you choose. Lots of the food is available in the food hall which is really handy.
Excellent food, very friendly staff and a very pleasant English rose wine. We've visited the wine bar several times and always enjoy the experience.
Value in an unlikely place
House rose champagne is reason enough to go there - really nice and excellent value. Oysters were a little grainy but the salmon and nibbly bits to accompany the bubbles were well presented and plentiful. Warning - you could get unexpectedly very drunk in a department store!
Wine Flight at Fortnum&Mason
I took a dear friend there one Wednesday evening after work to try the wine flight. This is where you get 3 125ml glasses of different wines to sample. It thought this was a great idea - if you're interested in wine - and it was really beautifully presented. We ordered the bread and cheese to nibble on with it. The bread was good value and the cheese was good, though I felt the portion was perhaps just a bit small and they could have given a chutney or something to go with it, as is standard with most cheese platters on restaurant menus.
The atmosphere and service was great though and we had a really good time.
How to make shopping in London fun
This is our special place, we shop in the food hall and then have lunch, just the two of us. It is very romantic. Simple but luxurious.
Delightful Lunch at 1707 Bar
We took our daughter for a birthday lunch at the 1707 Bar. The food and wine were excellent as usual and the service impeccable. Will definitely return, as we have done over so many years.
We always call into 1707 after
We always call into 1707 after a hard days shopping in London. We don't eat here as the menu is non inspiring, but we usually complete a wine flight, but this time opted for a bottle of F&M champagne. The service could be improved upon, but the location is convenient for the Piccadilly line.
Caught up with a friend and
Caught up with a friend and just a great place for wine and a bite to eat.
First visit for girls' night out
First visit to Fortnum's wine bar. Being in the middle of the foodhall, there is a good atmosphere, nice decor and quite spacious. Went for appetisers rather than main meals but food very good and very well presented - light batter on the fish goujons, extensive cheeseboard, delicious mackerel pate. Good choice of wines, decent house champagne (competively priced) and great choice of wine flights (3 x 125 ml glasses) pair with food recommendations. The service was good and I would definitely return.
