I wolfed it down
I'd been looking forward to Bocca di Lupo for some time, having owned the cookbook and tried various recipes from it myself. It did not disappoint - excellent ingredients, cooked well and simply with good attention to detail but without fancifying it. We went pre-theatre, and the restaurant was very accommodating of this, making sure we finished in time, but without rushing us. Excellent, varied and interesting wine list too.
The price represent that amazing standard of food coming out of the kitchen. Would definetly recommend. Can't wait to go again.
Post theatre supper
We had excellent service and food at Bocca di Lupo last week after going to the theatre. The restaurant was still buzzing, the food came out very quickly. Portions of the small dishes are larger than we anticipated so we did over order some what. Expensive, but delicious.
Only issue on the night was that we were sitting rather close to a couple having a row which was rather distracting... not the restaurant's fault; but tables are pretty close together
Best Italian in London
I took my mum here whilst she was visiting at the weekend for a pre-theare dinner. The staff were really attentive, helpful and quick with the service. We were served starters and mains all within an hour meaning we had plenty of time to make our show. We sat at the Chef's Table which was a great experience as we got to see the kitchen in action and see all of the beautiful food being served. Must haves include the radish salad, the sage leaves stuffed with anchovy and the Orecchiette with sausage ragú. My only regret is that we didn't have time to try the desserts on offer. The food was great value for money and tasted so fresh and delicious. I'll definitely be going back.
Great ambience and service, ok food
The service was great, nice atmosphere with a buzz and really packed. However the Partridge we ordered was bit red and raw in the inside and chef said it was ok when we brought it up. Spicy sausages was bit tough, hard and salty. Waiter was polite and attentive but guess it might be the choice of food that night.
Better every time...
The raddish, celeriac, and truffle salad is unreal. The sea bream in salt was divine. The perlato wine was fantastic and I don't know how I have survived this long without having a Caffè alla zambioni everyday. Keep up the good work. Defo the best in town! Thanks.
Howling at the moon for more
Bocca di Luppo gave us the friendliest of welcomes and tastiest of dishes. It had the magical feeling you have joined the community for a day.Our waitress Sian was happy to advise on some of her favourite dishes, wine choices, and from her singing as she passed, one imagines its as good a place to work as to eat. Indeed with so many delicious dishes on offer perhaps a temp job would allow us to discover all the regional dishes as yet un-tasted! We had lobster risotto, radish salad, burrata with aubergine, pumpkin & amarretti cappellacci and a Sicilian pudding with a name I can't recall (but with a flavour etched into my very soul). I'd book again in a heart beat...with the memory of the meal causing this heart to beat just a little faster.
Bocca di Lupo
Full of Buzz at 10.30 pm, very friendly service, good food.
Late dinner, post-theatre. Food excellent, but service average. Staff have too much attitude.
Excellent in every way! Went
Excellent in every way! Went for lunch before a theatre matinee. Every bit of food, from the complimentary bread and olives, to the pasta, salad, and vegetable dishes we ordered, was wonderfully flavored and textured. The room and dining bar have a great, lively buzz. Can't wait to return.
makes a change
This is so much more than the standard Italian restaurant, the menu offers small or large portion always go for large as small is small
However it is noisy and fun and the food is exquisite, expensive, only if like us oldies we are not used to Soho prices but gather from the youth that this is pretty standard.
My birthday lunch
The restaurant was fully booked for Saturday night when I phone 3 weeks ago.
So my birthday celebration became lunch.
We were warmly greeted and helped with the menu.
Starters were delicious, especially the one with meltingly delicate Mozerella and the refreshing radish salad.
Fried Sage Leaves with anchovy were so crunchy and tasty that we had to order more.
Two of us had perfectly cooked Sea Bream and two of us had the huge artichoke stuffed with a crunchy tuna and breadcrumb topping. This was dry and the artichoke heart was heavy and stringy.
However the desserts were heavenly; profiteroles filled with delicate flavoured ice creams and a deliciously gooey chocolate rum concoction.
Coffee was excellent quality.
Amazing food, great service and loveley atmosphere.
Definitely will be coming back to this little gem in Soho.
We absolutely loved the dinner w had last Sunday. Thank you so much for a fabulous dinner. We really cannot say much more than that.
Again thank you!
My boyfriend and I have been to Bocca three times. It's for when we feel like splashing out and treating ourselves. The food has always been amazing - best sea bream I've ever had! The wine menu is also varied and superb.
Delicious regional Italian cooking
We took a couple to dinner here after a matinee at the Apollo. The food and service was really excellent. We'll definitely return!
Lovely meal with very attentive sta
We did not go here because we wanted a cheap meal, but rather because we wanted something special.
The food and service were both very good and the wine was also good. The waiter was helpful as was the front of house manager. The food was very nice indeed and the bill was pleasantly low at the end.
Starters - main courses (very healthy portion sizes) - deserts - coffee's and good bottle of wine all for £100
All in all a very enjoyable visit. The first of many.
lively italian - wonderful food
we booked for an after theater meal as the restaurant is so well located for shaftsbury avenue.
wonderful lively atmosphere, busy and exciting and food was really good. The whole experience really exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended
We perched at the Chef's Counter and our pleasure in the terrific food served up to us was redoubled by being able to watch it being prepared right in front of us. We ordered two mains and three smaller portions and every one was a winner. The undoubted star, we both agreed, was the roast suckling pig with chestnuts and bay. Also commendable was the bottle of Franciacorta Pas Dosé, as were the fine Bellinis that preceded it. Extraordinarily good food and what a marvellous place to eat! We'll certainly be back. Often.
Post theatre dinner
Great fun with excellent food, awesome!. Definitely recommend.
Definitely worth visiting
If a pre-theatre occasion, give yourself plenty of time - service was quick but food was so good that we gave in to a dessert and then rushed! Lively fun atmosphere so not a quiet romantic venue. We loved the pumpkin and amaretti capellacci with butter and sage; also the sage leaves. If in a party of 4 or more, recommend you share lots of little dishes, like a Tapas, everything works well together. On your first visit, allow more time to navigate the crowds outside. Will definitely go again.
The best, most authentic Italian
The best, most authentic Italian restaurant I have been to in the UK. Simple, fresh, well cooked food.
The perfect lunch
The food was so delicious. We all shared small plates which was very reasonable for such outstanding food. Our waitress was brilliant, informative &
friendly and she let us have our table for longer than the alotted time too. overall it was a wonderful lunch and I will certainly go again.
We're regulars, and keep coming back owing to the ever-changing selection of imaginative and tasty dishes. This time, we were particularly pleased by the decen tportion sizes, which in the past have been on the skimpy side every now and then.
Simply amazing, I highly recommend it. Have the sea bream carpaccio starter, it's delicious.
In an area full of the usual restaurants, Chinese, pizza italian etc, Bocca Di Lupo is a great place. Varied menu and helpful staff. Good atmosphere. Not the cheapest but worth it.
If you are seeting at the bar you can watch the whole preparation of your food. very exiting. all is fresh. Good wine list.
only that you must be ready within 2hours is not so good.
Lovely Italian small plates
I'm a big fan of "small plates" dining, so this was a great discovery. Interesting variety, exceptional food, terrific service, and an impressive wine list. Recommended to anyone who likes tapas but wants something new. Will definitely go back.
Extraordinary food. Casual,
Extraordinary food. Casual, genuine, italian (!) and among the best italian restaurants I have ever visited!
Excellent all round
I have heard about the restaurant from various friends and finally managed to book a table at 10pm on a weekday! The staff are all very, warm, friendly and helpful. Food was amazingly good. Good ambience and comfortable decor. I like the idea of the smaller portions so we can try more things and share. Everything we had was outstanding- parpardelle with duck innards, lobtser rissotto, tribe, suckling pig, teal, roasted beets then followed by doughnuts anbd espresso gelato! Also great value. A real gem.
Went here after the theatre-
Went here after the theatre- friendly service despite being very busy. The food and wine were excellent and I would definitely go back and recommend this restaurant to friends.
Watch Italian fare cooked for you!
Great experience watching the chefs preparing delicious italian food right in front of you! Ideal for food lovers. If you are not more then 3 people you should sit a the counter it's good fun. Food is very good and the selection of small dishes to share is great. Good selection of wines by the glass. Watch out some are quite pricy!
We had the most amazing dinner
We had the most amazing dinner at Bocca Di Lupo last Friday. It was a surprise dinner for a 30th birthday and the staff, and not to mention the food of course, were utterly heavenly. Being a larger table, our waiter took control of the ordering for us and recommended the dishes (all of which were utterly amazing). To say we loved it would be an understatement.
Unique and superb
Food here is superb, simple but unique, with a home-made feel. They specialise in regional Italian, such that you get different tastes available. And use unusual ingredients, like duck offal, deep fried sage leaves. The waiter was extremely helpful, making good suggestions of his favourite dishes. It is extremely popular, so you need to make reservations well,in advance, as it is small with few tables. This gives it a noisy lively atmosphere, which is not very intimate.
Vibrant venue with outstanding food
We were a group of 6 and sat at one of the big round tables which was perfect. The service at Bocca Di Lupo is outstanding. The food is utterly delicious. We ordered several dishes and shared them across the group. Favourites were the gnudi (never had these before - divine), sea bream, seafood carpaccio, fried sage leaves with anchovy, suckling pig and lobster. The desserts were out of this world too. Would definitely recommend the profiteroles with hazelnut gelato. Grandpa's Balls (!) were also very good I'm told. We weren't brave enough to try the pigs blood with chocolate dessert. One for next time maybe! Will definitely be back.
Exquisite Bocca di Lupo
Bocca di lupo was great! Why is it an italian restaurant? Probably, because menu includes also pasta...
An excellent and varied menu
An excellent and varied menu - we took full advantage of the 'bring your own truffles' offer... delicious! Anyone interested in exceptional food and outstanding service should try Bocca Di Lupo.
This was my fourth visit to Bocca Di Lupo and I've been impressed on each occasion by the food, the service - oh and a great wine list.
My initial visit was a team lunch followed by another lunch a late after cinema visit and a late sunday lunch with our four year old daughter. The consistency of the great food, excellence of service (honest and helpful) and a great wine list makes it a great experience. It works for groups, couples and its great that kids are welcome (and treated with respect)
Ok its not cheap but its worth it..
Excellent friendly welcome
Excellent friendly welcome from hostess. Friendly and helpful waiter. Excellent food. Looking forward to next visit.
best italian i've ever had!
The service was to a very high standard and the food was amazing. Taste and presentation gets 10/10 from me and it was lovely seeing it made right infront of me (since I was sat at the bar)
I don't like radishes but...
I am not a fan of radishes but enjoyed a fantastic radish salad at Bocca! Even foods which I might not otherwise try due to poor experiences in other places have proved delicious when prepared here. My intended wine selection was surpassed by a cheaper alternative suggested by the excellent waiter - what more can you ask?
Took a very special person there on recommendation of a friend.
Food really excellent, nice surroundings, good value too. Michel Roux Jr was eating there.
Downside was that (at almost to the second) when our two hour slot was up we were asked to vacate our table. It was done nicely and I know it's advertised as such and that it is a busy city centre restaurant but it's annoying and there isn't a lounge area to retire to. Would have been a nice way to end the meal.
Maybe we should have chosen our food in advance and been able to order straight away so we didn't run out of time - but isn't the selection process a really important part of the eating experience...?
interesting to experiment
We had been trying to come for some time and finally made it. The advice about portion size was excellent and most of the dishes we ordered worked very well indeed and some were outstanding. Would definitely come again to try the remainder. The only disappointment was the cheese which was somewhat dull by comparison with the other offerings.
Late Dinner at Bocca Di Lupo
Had booked dinner in the "back room" but ended up on the counter and now we will always ask for counter seats! It was an experience to watch the chefs toiling away relentlessly. Food and service were outstanding, "small" plates of Radish salad, beans, crab and artichoke, sausages, all lovely. We will return.
we saved it for a special
we saved it for a special occasion and it lived up to its expectation - real treat being at teh chefs table too!
Food here is always excellent.
Food here is always excellent. Best Italian food in central London by a long way.
My wife and I dined here on the occasion of her birthday. It is a wonderfull experience and one we will remember fondly
Bocca Di Lupo
My son had wanted to eat here for some time; he and the rest of our party(6 in total) were not disappointed. We had a truly memorable meal; lots of gorgeous flavours you wanted to savour for ever. We were well looked after by Franco and other members of staff who were effiecient and welcoming.
Amazing food, great service.
Amazing food, great service. Definitely recommend the tagliata for 2 or more!
An amazing eating experience
Bocca Di Lupo is an amazing eating experience. The food was ambrosial and the service superb. I would recommend it to anyone.
