Mother's Day Treat
We had a lovely Mother's Day Lunch at The Chester Fields. Service was efficient & friendly. Our table was ready at the booked time & there was a happy buzz about the whole place. The roast Beef was memorable. The whole meal was served speedily and we didn't feel rushed. A Great Experience that I would recommend to everyone.
My first visit, very nice restaurant. Good menu and we went on a Wednesday which was "steak night" There were some very good offers at a good price. Though I chose the catch of the day which was cod and was absolutely delicious. We followed with sticky toffee pudding, which again was delicious, but could have been served warmer. My only issue was the length of time it took from us arriving to firstly actually getting the glasses of champagne we ordered, which was well over half an hour, and secondly getting our meals, which again was a wait of about an hour. Fortunately, we were not in a rush, but were looking forward to the drink and we were hungry.
That said, I would try it again, but would not wait the second time.
We visited this restaurant on 'Steak Night'. We were slightly disappointed that they had run out of the fillet steak so we had to opt for Sirloin. You'd think that on a 'Steak Night' there would be plenty of fillet steaks available seeing as though this would be the most popular cut and we arrived at 8pm?!
Apart from this, the food was amazing!! I haven't had a meal that tasted this good in a long time.
The restaurant was busy but all the staff were very friendly and attentive and we didn't have to wait long at all between courses.
I can highly recommend this restaurant and will be visiting again soon.
Value for money?
We ordered the bread platter £3.50 I think as a quick bite prior to the main meal arriving expecting nice rolls or wedge of granary, what a disappointment : 4 bread batches fit only for putting a burger on and a pot of butter. Promptly sent back !
Main meal food was of very good quality and presented well but just not enough of it, not that I'm greedy far from it, however when I order a steak for £17.50 I literally expect more than simply a piece of steak although cooked to perfection and a small basket of chips. No trimmings mushroom, tomato or onion rings as standard although the latter are available for a price, sauce is also extra. Seasonal veg and new potatoes as an alternative to chips would have been nice.
A superb location
The Chester Fields is set in a lovely location and also the interior doesn't disappoint! The food was lovely complimented by an excellent table service. On a Saturday night the place was buzzing with a really lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit again
Excellent quality food in a fabulous location with excellent service.
Steak night excellent value
Been here a few times and have enjoyed the food on each occasion. Steak night on a Wednesday excellent value for money highly recommend if you don't feel like cooking.
Very friendly place
Lovely place, lovely food, lovely service. Couldn't fault any of the staff that always seem to do their best to make your experience the best it could be. In the summer this place will be amazing with such wonderful outside areas, but in the cold it is warm and cosy, very inviting with real fires.
Perfect Sunday Lunch
Longhorn beef pink with local vegetables and Yorkshire pud. Portion size perfect and everything cooked perfectly. Beef to die for.
Best by far! EXCELLENT!
We have eaten at Chester Fields twice now and find is absolutely outstanding in every single department. It is the way dining out should be experienced and we congratulate, and applaud, the management and staff. Well done. We'll be back!
The special "steak nights" are particularly good because they don't compromise on quality because of the better value (almost 2 for 1).
Me and my partner both had really nice meals. The wine was nice and the ambience was perfect for a romantic meal.
Lovely place, very good food
I brought my husband here as a birthday treat based on reviews I had seen. The food did not disappoint! We had starters and mains but left no room for pudding! The food was beautiful and the staff very friendly. The place itself is lovely and has stunning views. Food is fairly pricey but worth the money as it is mainly local produce cooked fresh to order. Highly recommend.
Lovely meal. My daughter and I tried the sharing dessert. We couldn't finish it but what we did eat was excellent.
excellent restaurant and bar
i loved this restaurant as soon as i walked in the service from the staff was very friendly and welcoming they did an excellent job of looking after us all the way through our lunch, food was excellent , i loved the booth like seats and the surroundings were lovely inside and outside would definitley recommend this restaurant and bar
Chester Fields Inn
Great place to take friends when they come and visit. Lovely looking restaurant and the food is always great.
I had the pork sausage platter to start and the ribeye steak for main. Both I would recommend.
Is expensive, but worth it. Wouldnt go each week though, more for special occasions.
suburb dining in a lovely setting
I loved the relaxed atmospheric restaurant with brilliant food and excellent service. It is perfect for a romantic meal for two or a family Sunday dinner. the outdoor area looks relaxing and makes dining out on a sunny afternoon so good.
Had a table up in the gallery, which was lovely, although for my friend the chair was too hard, if booking again I would request a table downstairs with the padded benches. Fish platter to share is a lovely option and we had it with salad. Good varied menu. Would like to dine outside but would not be happy with smokers. I do think restaurants should ban smoking in their outside spaces. As a non smoker I feel deprived of being able to dine outdoors.
Great for Sunday lunch
The staff are very frindly I have eaten her twice now and have always been very impressed. My son dropped a glass within minutes they had it cleaned up and a new drink on the table at no cost.
Celebrating a Special Birthday
We were very pleased with the meal and will certainly be returning in the future.
Chester Fields is a geat venue
The restaurant is a great venue for taking visitors, I used it for entertaining a work colleague, it has a nice feel, and friendly staff, the food is very good, and there is a good choice. The venue has a good mood, lots of nice wood, and good lighting, I have visited as a couple, and in a large group, and service is always good, although can get a bit tight around the area you wait to be seated from. Outside has nice views and there are good options when wanting to sit outside.
First time at the restaurant and we were both very pleased we chosen to dine here, the building is fresh and eye pleasing and with the other diners it makes a very good ambiance. The menu is varied so there is something else to try when we go back. There is a good selection of wine and whisky. Staff were great. If there are two items that they could improve on they would be to use less salt in the seasoning (way too much for me) and the ice cream should really be for kids only as it was nothing special - put sorbet on the menu for the adults!
Fathers day lunch
First time visitor, but have heard good things about this restaurant and are visit did not disappoint.
meals were better than expected, not had a steak of this good for a long time.
will recommend to family and friends no problem. good decor of the building and the staff were pleasant and courteous including the management who were also working not just giving orders.
Will be back soon
Third time we have visited Chester Fields and we werent disappointed... Dad really enjoyed his Fathers day lunch
We visited on a pleasant summer evening and really enjoyed sitting outside in the garden overlooking the meadows. The service and food was excellent. The steak in particular was incredibly tasty. Good draft beer went down well too. And to finish, the puddings are great too.
It was our 1st wedding anniversary & we wanted to go somewhere special, but also relaxed & the Chester fields is the perfect place. Even though we didn't tell anyone it was our anniversary, we were made to feel special & that's how everyone is treated. Great, friendly staff who catered our every need.
Having made a booking online
Having made a booking online and arriving at Chester Fields on a very warm evening we requested to sit outside altho our booking was made for a table inside. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who despite being very busy, found us a table and dealt with our request efficiently and were incredibley polite. Well done for excellent service.

Chester FIelds of Gold
This restaurant was the perfect choice for my birthday celebration. The evening was gloriously warm which made alfresco dining the only way to go. The food was lovely, especially the eggs florentine starter, and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great meal. They have a great selection of gin, though it is a little expensive. What ever you do don't ask for their most expensive bottle of champagne!
The view from the outside seating area couldn't have been lovelier, it's a great place to relax.
Good from start to finish
Nice Place, great Sunday Lunch, Beef was particularly good, not chewing as in some restaurants. Would definitely go back. Staff friendly and Polite.
Fantastic in every aspect
Great venue, stunning views and delightful food!
We were celebrating a special occassion and the food was absolutely gorgeous with plentiful portions.
In addition, the service was personable and polite - a perfect compliment to the food and stunning views.
A fun and filling night
We ate at Chester Fields to celebrate my wife's Birthday. The whole experience from pre-dinner drinks through to cheese and Port was fantastic. The menu was interesting, the food well prepared and the wine of excellent quality. Luckily it was close enough to home to take a Taxi!! Highly recommended whether you live in or are visiting Chester.
We had a lovely family meal and were pleasantly pleased with both the choice and quality of the food, my daughter has several food allergies and this was taken on board and her needs met without any fuss which is not always the case.
We are looking forward to our next visit which we will make sure is very soon.
Lovely pub. Great atmosphere.

Everything was excellent!
Very impressed with the staff here, all went out of their way to make us feel welcome & all did a fantastic job. On top of that the food was excellent so all in all a fabulous establishment!
excellent attentive service
excellent attentive service and the food was superb in a very relaxed atmosphere, no rush unlike a lot of other restaurants
Ideal for catch up with friends
Lovely food, great choice and patient staff who persevered with us while we were preoccupied with catching up over ordering our meal
Lovely meal to celebrate a
Lovely meal to celebrate a family birthday - staff were gracious and the food was excellent as always - never had a bad meal here.
On the outskirts of Chester.
The Chester fields is a very pleasant eatery. The vegetarian option was different to the usual run of the mill food offered.
The service was good and the surroundings very attractive.
A good place to do lunch.
fabulous time had by everyone, food was amazing, had the medley of pork and wife had chicken bourginon, really tasty and well presented, didnt look much in terms of quantity but did fill me up.
desserts were just as good.
service was great, waiting times between food - just right.
a nice touch at the end, they wrote happy birthday on the dessert with a candle, without being asked to.
We dined as a couple on a recent Sunday evening to mark an anniversary and really enjoyed the experience, good food and friendly, efficient service in comfortable surroundings.
Well worth a visit if you have not been before.
a great meal with my family to celebrate my birthday

This was the first time that
This was the first time that we have visited the new restaurant Chester Fields although we di visit The Barn as it was. The whole experience was fantastic. A little on the expensive side, but we did push the boat out as it was our 44th wedding anniversary. The ambience was excellent and the staff were very attentive but not "in your face". The food was unbelievable and I did send my complements to the chef/s. I had the fillet steak with red wine sauce -wow! I would certainly recommend the Chester Fields to my friends and family and would book again for such a special occasion.
A lovely restaurant with very
A lovely restaurant with very good food and very good service.
Very relaxed atmosphere, loved
Very relaxed atmosphere, loved the bread and balsamic starter, roast was excellent, Would certainly return. Staff friendly.
We'll be back
Met for a simple supper with a friend and enjoyed a new menu of some unusual dishes both vegetarian and not. Chose to have a vegetarian welsh rarebit starter (which could have been a bit more cheesy) and then a wonderful bread and butter pudding topped with apricots and orange marmalade ice-cream. My friend had a starter and pudding too but we felt comfortable ordering a modest meal. The waitress was second to none, inviting us to make helpful criticisms of the new menu and on leaving this relaxing venue, we realised that we had spent 3 hours at our table! All credit to the staff and relaxed atmosphere.
We were told that this was a try out for food themed nights and if it was successful there would be more such events, and as far as we were concerned it was a great success! The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was very tasty (and hot - wow, those chillies!), there was plenty of it and it was good value - and above all it was good fun. We will certainly look out for themed nights in the future.
A pescetarian, gluten free menu was prepared for us which was very helpful.
Starters were somewhat limited but mains were outstanding.
