Bad start, fair middle, good end.
Booked a table for my partners birthday and stated this, asked for a nice table but were shown to a table next to the coffee machine-how romantic. 3 week advance booking, I immediately was disappointed so asked to be moved, given there were several free. The waiter pointed us in the direction of a half booth which was perfect but when we sat down, got the third degree from a different waiter. We explained we asked first, it was clarified but left us feeling very awkward. The service from there with original waiter was fantastic, food was great but I had expected more melt in mouth moment for their £60 steak. Delicious brownie to share came with no prompt, a birthday candle-so they had known! Overall great with some hiccups.
The food is always really good but you would expect this for the price charged. You pay 'top dollar' for what is an excellent meal but I can only recommend for special occasions unless you're quite well-off!
The steaks are excellent and have the taste of the coal and smoke which you can't get at home. The confit tomatoes are amazing too...just wish there was more than one half on each plate.
Overall - excellent but anything less for the high price would be unacceptable. We'll go back, but only birthdays etc!
Cheaper options would secure more frequent visits.
Our butchershop experience
We arrived 15 minutes early for our booking (which was obviously needed as the restaurant was jumping!) so we had to wait a little bit at the bar - not a problem at all for us!
For drinks we opted for the rose proseco which although was expensive was well worth it. A lovely fizz that goes down really smooth.
The steaks are pricey but wow are they worth it! I opted for the sirloin which was perfectly cooked with an extremely flavourful and rich pepper and brandy jus. My boyfriend ordered the rib eye which was bursting with flavour, however he enjoys a rare steak and found the rib eye rather hard to chew at times due to the marbling of the fat!
Overall an amazing meal I'd recommend to any meat lover - I bet they could even turn a veggie ;)
Best steak in town
Took my wife for her birthday. We had the Chateaubriand and it was fantastic. The short ribs to start were tremendous as well. Never a truer statement that you pay for what you get. Will be back
Good Quality Meat
I am a meat lover and I must say that the meat was good. The server was a bit smug but the service was very good.
I had the T-Bone and my wife had the Veal T-Bone which also was very good.
All in all I would return
This is the 3rd time we have eaten here and it never disappoints, the chateau briand is always amazing and ways cooked to perfection, the wine list is exquisite, I doubt you could pick a bad one! I love going here it's a meat lovers paradise!
Great meal onTuesday night

This was our first visit and will not be our last
Roll on next visit !!
Service was excellent and
Service was excellent and the staff very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was throughly enjoyable as the was atmosphere. Would go back for another visit.
Was recently in the butchershop for a dinner with my new girlfriend. Service and setting was fantastic and the perfect location for a romantic meal. Although the fantastic company was perfect for a fantastic meal!
T Bone vs Cote de Beouf
Guys night out and the 4 of us had a great night atmosphere is what you notice before the food arrives and then the feast arrives, although not cheap none of us thought anything of it due tot he quality of the food everything we ate was totally delicious even down to the tomato on the side :) would highly recommend.
Good Sunday Roast
Had the lamb and a nice bottle of malbec. Would recommend.
Best steak ever
I have eaten in restaurants all over the world and I must say that The Butchers Shop Grill was up with the best of them my steak was second to none and the service was fantastic 10 out of 10 I will use that place on a regular basis.
John Harvey Wemyss Bay.
had a table for 1900, arrived early to a friendly welcome and a place at a small bar for some pre dinner drinks.
Staff were very professional and friendly, our waitress was from the czech republic and was very warm and informative.
we had a booth which was comfortable. The atmosphere was good for the most.
The steaks were well cooked to our exact requirements.
Restaurant was very noisy with a large group seated beside us.
Pre-Theatre Menu Fantastic Value
Was here at the weekend with my partner and we both ate off the pre theatre menue. the food was lovely! Pate was slightly soft but the rump steak was fantastic! Te girl serving us was also lovely! Think she was just new.. Will definitely be back!
Myself and my girlfriend had a meal here to celebrate a birthday. Service was good and food was phenomenal. A couple of thing that's were on the menu were not available as the chef wasn't happy with the way they turned out, but I'd rather be told this than be disappointed.
Our steaks were delicious and came with hand cut chips and pepper jus. Just outstanding. Perfectly cooked medium rare and quality of the beef used is easy to tell once tasted.
A great place to eat, can't recommend enough.
good food and great service
good food and great service shame about the loud music and the tables a bit too close together
excellent value for money
Nothing to complain about, food was delicious, service great and wine nice too. Maybe a bit noisy, but still nothing that d ruin your dining experience.
As always the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu, cuts of meats etc... They always recommend a nice wine to suit your meal/palette. The atmosphere is always great at the weekends, far from the cheapest steak in town but certainly one of the best available in Glasgow. Keep up the good work guys!!
First visit to the resturant & I will definitely be back food was fantastic and the service was great staff very friendly and helpfull.
Excellent simple steak
And great ice cream my fav meal. Only small downside was background jazz music. I like most genres but can't stand jazz
This is the place to go if you are looking for good quality meat, I had chicken and my husband had steak, but never fails to satisfy even the fussiest of palets. At £63 for 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 soft drinks the prices are reasonable but I can assure you it's money well spent as this is a taste sensation!
Food was amazing, we had the
Food was amazing, we had the steak, my goodness, there was no need for the included sauce, there was so much flavour already. Great food, great service great value, can't fault it.
Cant wait to go back
We had a great meal at the Butcher Shop. This is the second time we have been and both times our meal was excellent. Good selection of tasty starters and steaks cooked to perfection. Busy little place which creates a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back for another visit soon.
Tasty but expensive
I went there during the week with my wife and we had Fillet Steak and Cote de Boeuf. The food and service were excellent but we felt the steaks and wine were a little overpriced. We will be back - but only on a special occasion!
As good as ever
This was about the 4th time coming here.
The food in this restaurant is absolutely fabulous, the service is as good as it gets. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for in here.
We went to the Butchershop to celebrate my sons 18th birthday he wanted to come here as he had read good reviews about it, the steaks were lovely cooked to perfection in all it was a great experience would certainly go back.
We chose the steak frites and had a beautiful starter each as well. Then although not normally a dessert fan the plum n orange crumble sounded to good to miss and we were advised by the knowledgeable waitress that it was big enough to share. A little over £50 for starters mains bottle of wine and a dessert is amazing quality.
This place is excellent. Amazing steaks. Excellent service and surroundings. Friendly staff and great service.
Try the rib-eye.
The starters (Mussels) and T Bone steak with chips was outstanding in flavour but the friend onion rings were unedible. The restaurtant agreed and deducted them from the bill. My wife's New York steak with salad was very ordinery. If your looking for a T Bone steak cooked to perfection then this is the place to eat but it is expensive for a good quality tasty meal.
Outstanding place, amazing
Outstanding place, amazing quality of food especially the beef, excellent service, great choice of wine, very eclectic variety of food. To be recommended! Top restaurant!
Service and food was excellent,
Service and food was excellent, very efficient and quick.
Our first time to Glasgow and we booked The Butchershop due to its location ie close to Kelvingrove Gallery and we were so glad we did! We were greated with a friendly face, seated and given the menus! We chose a pre-theatre menu which had a great choice for a fantastic price! The food, ambiance and staff made this restaurant our favourite and one which we'd definitely go back when we visit once again!
We had the Roast Lamb which was delicious if a somewhat small portion. Also, the menu flattered to deceive, described a wonderful array of accompaniments of which only the Yorkshire Pudding and gravy excelled. One and a half brussel sprouts, 2 pieces of carrots and a few small half roast potato looked lost on the big plate. Everything was delicious just a bit disappointed after reading the menu.Perhaps we should have had the beef which seems the speciality...looked gorgeous.
Best Steak Ever!!!!
I promise that this was the best steak I've had!! and I've been to quite a few places that sell steak!!!
The waitress was just awesome and the service and environment was fabulous!!!I plan on taking my parents there when they come to visit me!!! A definite must return
Best Sunday lunch ever!,
My wife and I chose this restaurant for a Sunday lunch whilst on a weekend away and it did not disappoint!! We had the Tafelspitz which was absolutely superb and highly recommended - a joint of beef carved at the table with a well cooked selection of vegetables and a stunning jus and a nice Malbec. Dessert of spiced plum crumble finished off the experience!!! Would highly recommend and wish they would open one in Manchester!!
If you fancy a great steak dinner!
Booked this restauarant on a Tuesday evening based on positive feedback online. The place was busy in a nice way and the welcome was good. We decided on mains then maybe sweets. the resh meat we chose was shown to us at the table and the requested cooking preference was done to perfection. Let me clear, this is not a low cost dining option but you clearly get what you pay for. Ideal for special occassions or entertaining important clients.
Steak, chips, wine special deal was a real bargain, steak was full of flavour and very tender. Wine was very pleasant and surprisingly good quality for the price. The deal for £30 for 2, was exceptional value. Staff attentive, not too stuffy, which is just how we like it. We will be back for sure.
Eaten here 5 times now and
Eaten here 5 times now and never disappointed. Little bit pricey for the a la carte, but the Tuesday night steak frites is terrific value. Great for special occasion or impressing that special someone.
Pre theatre menu
We choose from the 2 course pre theatre dinner and loved it. Rump stakes have a supplement of £3 on top of the £13.95. Staff were attentive too. We will definitely come back to sample Al acarte and other menus.
LAST MINUTE BOOKING, SO GLAD
LAST MINUTE BOOKING, SO GLAD WE DID
WE WERE GOING ON TO A SHOW SO A BIT RUSHED
WHEN WE RETURN IT WILL BE A LOT MORE RELAXED
delicious food, nice surroundings
Cheeky cocktail to start, then nice starter and steak for main, with a nice bottle of wine for good measure. First time here and was impressed. Service was excellent and the food was equally good. This is not a cheap option, but well worth the money, particularly if it is for a special occasion. Would recommend this restaurant.
Serious food, expertly served
Cosy, welcoming and very stylish. These people know their meats, and although not cheap by any means, the quality and amount of food served makes for a terrific meal. Excellent seafood options, also. Impressive too is their wine list, with the rare and delightful inclusion of champagne served by the glass. One of the best meals enjoyed in Glasgow in quite some time.
Tuesday 19th November 2013
It was a good venue, complimented by good food and friendly staff. We had visited before so kind of knew what to expect. Its not got all the bells and whistles of a top class restaurant but this is a bar and a very nice one too. As it was a Tuesday we tried the £30 menu with my husband going for a steak burger and a few toppings and side order of onion rings and I had the 8oz rump, both came with skinny chips and a bottle of, very tasty, house red. My husband had a pint of Moretti lager and we finished with a dessert each of an ice cream waffle cone and a pan of crumble. Altogether we paid £57 but rounded up to 60. We think its a fairly priced dining experience and you wont be disappointed.
I've eaten in the Butcher Shop before and wasn't disappointed with the latest visit. Excellent service and quality food. I had the veal T bone cooked pink and entirely to my liking. If you like good meat, pay The Butcher Shop a visit.
Went to the Butchershop Bar & Grill before a concert at the Hydro. The meal was excellent. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the sauce was delightful and the chips were amazing. Great atmosphere in the place. We all felt very comfortable and loved the attentive service provided by the staff. Highly recommend and will return soon.
Fab, if you really love steak
Like my title says, if you really love beef, you will love it here. I enjoyed my evening, but for the premium price, it is not at the level it should be. The meat was well seasoned and cooked nicely, but had a spongy texture?! The staff were good, but attended our table a little too often and separate staff members asked us the same questions within a few minutes of each other, showing poor communication on their part. This place has all the makings of a winning steakhouse, they just need to tweak a few things.
Pre theatre meal
Pre theatre menu was ideal and affordable but yet very good quality. Would thoroughly recommend the rump steak. The ambience was good but only difficulty we had was reading the menu as the lighting was so subdued.
Superb quality food - Sunday lunch tafelspitz is a must !
Excellent wines as well!
Will be coming back very soon!
exelent steak meal nice as

Been a few times now and food
Been a few times now and food is amazing. Leek and potato soup was lovely and me and the hubby loved the steak. Service is always friendly and well timed and the atmosphere is very calming. Would definitely recommend.
