A nice night out
The restaurant itself is lovely, with great views of St. Pauls. We got a table at the back and asked to be moved to a table with a view as it was a special birthday dinner, which they did. The food was great and atmosphere lovely, just a shame the service was at times a bit poor. My friend got his drink for free as they forgot it twice, and we had to ask the waiter for water twice and for our wine to be filled up. Other than that, a lovely night overall.
Not for vegetarians ! This is an unashamed meat restaurant aiming for the very highest standards. We had the "Rib Eye for two" which at £70 is not cheap. But it is very good indeed arriving as a carved rib joint on our table. Our starters were mixed. My tuna was very good - basically Sashimi plus. My wife's "Crispy Calamari" was less than crisp. The chips were good though charged extra. The wine list is astonishing with some fine Italian whites and red. Our Red from Puglia at £29 was superb. There are cheaper options and many, many more expensive! Service (All Italian in our case) is faultless and the views of St Paul's are sublime. The ambience is a bit noisy with tables close together.
Its an indulgence!
Never tasted a steak so good! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and everything went perfectly. When it's a special occasion you obviously don't want to go somewhere that disappoints, and Barbecoa delivered everything above and beyond our expectations. Definitely returning.
We had the steak tartare and the salmon ceviche to start - both delightful and very good quality. Interesting and tasty flavours and good sized portions too.
Our mains were the pulled pork - wow! and the T bone steak. Both were incredible.
Thank you Barbecoa for an awesome evening.
My second visit and once again a fantastic dining experience on all counts. A special place for special occasions.
Took my partner here for her birthday meal.
Had the chateaubriand, and although expensive (£75) was the best cut of meat I've ever had.
Great service, atmosphere and fantastic views of St Paul's Cathedral.
Highly recommended as a treat place!
Top dining in the shadow of StPauls
Good service from arrival to waiting in the bar to getting a great window table overlooking a floodlit St Pauls Cathedral. There were three of us - all had steaks - T Bone, Sirloin, Fillet. Cooked as asked. Side orders were good especially the baked beans. Not so keen on the Pig Cheek starter - a bit bland or maybe subtle. Lemon Posset an excellent dessert. Espresso was exceptional. Price was as expected - quite high but justified by such a great location. Atmosphere was great - will definitely go again.
Fantastic food and service!
Visited Barbecoa restaurant on a Saturday night. The service was fantastic, our waitress was very attentitive and quick. The food was fantastic and plenty. I really recommend Barbecoa!
As the title suggests, I took my wife to this restaurant for her birthday. I had Crispy Pig Cheeks to start and Long Rib as mains. I ordered chips to go on the side of the Long Rib. My wife had Chicken Wings to start and Rump Steak, as mains. All dishes were top quality and we were unable to move after. In addition, I added that, as it was my wife's birthday, that I would like a a table looking over St Pauls and this was arrange along with a small cake!
Excellent location, easy to
Excellent location, easy to reach by tube. Sits in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral which provided a stunning backdrop as illuminated at night. Decor modern and dark which added to the delightful ambience. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. The food itself was served in a timely manner and was simply delicious. Clearly quality, fresh ingredients and the meat was superb - cooked to perfection. Extensive wine list and innovative cocktail menu. Dessert excellently presented. On the whole, first class experience that we are eager to repeat. Can not rate highly enough.
very good experience, very nice staff and very good food
Fantastic views, fantastic
Fantastic views, fantastic food, fantastic service, just make sure you are hungry, the main course portions are all on the large side.
Great welcome in glitzy modern building. Good quality beers at the bar with fine view of back of St Paul's. Friendly attentive service. Went for the dry aged beef and was delighted with it. All of our group of ten enjoyed their choices.
Meatloaf by St Paul's
From a small lobby, empty tables, up steep stairs to a bustling restaurant and a view of St Paul's that took the breath away. Friendly service, plenty of time to chat over cocktails, and the meatloaf was to die for. Four ladies who started with the best of intentions, but couldn't resist the dessert menu and I could eat the salt caramel and chocolate ice-cream sundae all over again. It was a real effort to tear ourselves away and waddle off down the road to the Museum of London and all of my friends are saying they would like to take family and friends to experience Barbecoa for themselves. Not bad, at £50 which included a cocktail, mineral water and a glass of dry, white wine. And the view was priceless.
GOOD IF YOU GO WITH FRIENDS
We had lovely dinner at Barbecoa.
Service was exquisite and the waitress was gorgeous!
The meat was very tasty (Baby back ribs and Sirloin steak) yet I'm not sure it's worth the special ride to the city in the evening.
Other thing that bother - acoustic: the atmosphere was very crowded.
GOOD IF YOU GO WITH FRIENDS - NOT FOR QUIET EVENING
We've loved the Location, It's like on a campfire. And with the service, who is nice, friendly, quick and very alert, we felt very comfortable. And the food? The best quality of articles of food were cooked and grilled perfektly in every way. The drinks are fresh and tasty.
First time here, tho friends have been before. It did not fault from the moment i walked in. The Ribs / Wings / Pulled Pork are famously known at this restaurant so I tried them and deff recommend them.
Dessert menu is divine! Lemon Posset and Salted Caramel ice cream are silky smooth.
Extensive whiskey menu.... try it.
Service was outstanding , and refreshing without being poncy,
Will be returning.
lunch with a friend
Meet my friend for lunch as it was her Birthday, Was a bit nervous that it was full of Business people, but have to say the atmosphere was very friendly, We had a great lunch with great service. We will be back.
You pay a bit more but the
You pay a bit more but the food was excellent, service great with super view of St Paul's lit up in the dark, it's a lovely place.
Good - Better - Barbecoa
To be honest: Haven't heard that much about Jamie Oliver before,... but went there to surprise my best friend from Sweden on her birthday. Booked the table 2 month in advance and wasn't sure what I would expect.
To be honest: It was amazing!!! The athmosphere ... dimmed lights, Business and casual Looks, view to St. Paul's Cathedral on the one side and to the kitchen and the grill on the other. The waitress was always attentive and the wine was delicious! Try it out!
Really excellent food which is, most importantly, better than you can make at home.
The windows onto the kitchen give a great behind-the-scenes view and the variety of grills and ovens on display is impressive indeed.
The view out of the giant glass windows onto St. Paul's Cathedral is equally impressive.
Be prepared for a noisy evening. The ambience is one of loud, excited chatter which tends to add to the overall sense of dynamism.
It's not cheap but if you want to impress, this is a good choice.
Yet another great experience!! Chateaubriand was amazing!! Great table with an amazing view...can't missi it of you are in london!
Very nice returant with good
Very nice returant with good service. The food is good and very tasty.I will go there again.
There are very nice tables,
There are very nice tables, having a wonderful view at ST. Paul´s; but there are also tables behind dark curtains where you have no view at all, like ours ;-)
Lovely food, very good service and amazing setting overlooking St Pauls, the only thing was our table was round the other side of the restaurant without a view. Nice birthday cake for my wife too. This isn't a cheap meal so couldn't rush back anytime soon but overall very impressed
Good food, great view! Perfect
Good food, great view! Perfect evening! great staff. The dessert was to die for.
Best ribs i've ever had.... service was seciond to none....
food just amazing (as long as you love meat!)
First visit to one of Mr Oliver's restaurants. After walking around London for the day and seeing 6 establishments of various types starting with his name you get the feeling he is out to take over the restaurant world.
Very welcoming. Nice Location overlooking St Pauls. Great Steaks (last expensive steak restaurant i visited was Carnevino @ Palazzo in Vegas. The Steaks at Barbecoa were MUCH better!!!!!!) Great Service. Next time down in London will be a definite place to eat (if i can find a free reservation!!). Will be trying some of his other establishments. Well done Mr Oliver.
We where visiting from Norway and had a realy fantastic time with great food. The view to St. Paul's was great. The only negative comment I have is that it was a bit cold for the once sitting close to the window, but I would reccomend this to everyone.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, excellent service. Thank you for a great evening! Greetings from Sweden!
While in London for the week we checked out Barbecoa. The dark wood and modern design was lovely. City views of St. Paul's was an unexpected bonus. The low key entrance and coat check is great then it's a quick walk upstairs to the very open dining room. It made our evening, and the staff and food can't be best! Thanks
Birthday at Barbacoa
I booked a table a Barbacoa for my husbands birthday and requested a table with a view of St Paul's although they couldn't guarantee it when we arrived we had a table with the best view. We had an amazing meal staff were very attentive and friendly. My husband has been a butcher all his life and he had a huge t bone steak, he said it was the best steak he'd ever had! Definitely recommend you go there!
Stunning view, great food!
Have been to Barbacoa a few times, but this was my best so far. Service was good, food was excellent, and the view is always a bonus. The steak we shared was cooked to perfection and very good quality of meat. Would definitely recommend.
Another great meal at Barbecoa
Sitting by the big open window to the kitchen, we were able to see all the food being prepared and that really got the taste buds going! As always, Barbecoa delivers fantastic steaks with excellent service.
Fabulous Place To Wine And Dine
I've been to Barbecoa twice now and both times I have come away completely satisfied. The food is incredible and the vibe is both calm and lively at the same time. We ordered tons of starters, a main each, sides and desserts simply because we could not choose what we wanted to have as it all looked so good! Big portions, good value, friendly service. Our only complaint is that the menu had not changed in over a year, but with such outstanding food there really isn't much need.
Service was great as also the cooking. The quality of the t-bone was average.
Not really child friendly as they communicated to me (the provide toddler seats & thats the extent), but overall & great experience.
Best meal I have ever eaten!
From the moment we walked through the door we knew this restaurant was special. Decor is amazing the service is excellent our waitress was very knowledgable about the food the wine & the cocktails.the food was outstanding, it's not cheap but boy is it worth it!the ribs were the best I ever tasted.
Amazing View, Impeccable Service!
I cannot imagine a more exciting view for dinner than the one offered by Barbecoa - to dine on Jamie Oliver's carefully prepared menu with the best view of St. Paul's in the city was magical! The servers were attentive, considerate, and knowledgeable for a girls' night out to celebrate a birthday. Thanks to Barbecoa for showing a bunch of ladies from the USA a VERY special evening!!!
Arrived early for our booking
Arrived early for our booking but table was ready so we sat down. Waiter was great, really helpful with suggestions and answered all our questions. Food was very good, steaks cooked as requested, none of this sending it back nonsense because it wasn't cooked as asked for. From beginning to end, all very good and definitely go back - but only for special occasions as it's not cheap - but you only get what you pay for!
Great food and service
We have been to Barbecoa many times and always a favourite. This last vist, the restaurant out did themselves on food and particularily service. My wife always likes lamb, which had been taken off of the menu. No problem, our server volunteered to see if it was available from the butcher. A rack of lamb was prepared and it was outstanding! Thanks to both the waitress and the chef. The rest of the party had chateaubriand or the hamburger...both superb. Another great evening at Barbacoa.
A real treat.
My husband & I were visiting from overseas and were keen to check it out so we booked in for a Saturday night dinner. Service was far better than anywhere we had ever been (offered to take our coats, kept our water topped up, walked me to show where the toilet was). Food was delicious, we had the starter ribs and pork crackling and for mains I had the pulled pork with corn bread & slaw, my husband had the "steak sampler" which was three different cuts of beef.. which he couldn't finish. No room left for dessert:( Great drink menu. Would go here for special occasions if we lived closer.
Food here is great and quite reasonably priced for a special occasion. had a great view of St Pauls on a sunny London day - lovely.
Nice Atmosphere with good food
It is very nice to dine just opposite of St. Pauls. The food is very good there, although I burned my mouth because of the hot fried potatoes. I like it and would come again.
Wonderful views, lovely food
We booked for dinner on a Sunday evening and were pleased with the lively atmosphere in this lovely restaurant. We were lucky to have a round table next to the window with a fabulous view of St Pauls.
The basket of different homemade breads, were warm and gorgeous. The starters of baby back ribs were delicious although very intensely flavoured. The chicken main dish was succulent and nicely spiced, however, my main course of pulled pork tasted exactly the same as the ribs. Although an excellent dish, it was a mistake as I felt I was eating the same dish and the flavour was too powerful. Whilst I would recommend both dishes independently, don't have them both on the same evening. Service was a little disappointing.
The venue was very enjoyable, as was the food - however was disappointed with the service provided by our waiter - who took the shine off the overall dining experience.
Great ambience and fantastic view of St. Pauls. Fillet steak was as good as any I've had in London.
Altough it was very busy,
Altough it was very busy, a truely memorable dinner: oustanding food and even better cocktails!
We went here to celebrate
We went here to celebrate my son's 18th birthday, it was just perfect! The food was excellent, great atmosphere and service brilliant, very cool for the occassion
Very good but slightly over priced
The food was great and the service very attentive but the all out of kilter in terms of price.
Came here for a birthday dinner whilst visiting London. A little outside our normal price-range for a meal, however, it was totally worth it.
The food was incredibly tasty and arrived in good time. The staff were very attentive, they did make a slight mistake with our bill, but when notified, fixed it immediately.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant to any of my friends, family or colleagues and will definately try to visit again the next time I come to London.
