Zen China Restaurant (London)
Zen China Restaurant (London) has a good view of River Thames next to London Eye. The restaurant's signature dish Peking Duck was nicely presented. Other dishes tasted good as well. We came here for dinner on Lunar New Year day, a little surprised that the celebration menu did not have traditional dishes (eg dishes renamed with good names like Fat Choi etc etc). The service was good, staff came round to chat with us and offered to take photos for us.
Great view and fabulous food,
Great view and fabulous food, especially the salt and pepper squid! Expensive without the TT discount but some tables have alovely view.
Chinese unlike any other.....
I used to think all Chinese food was the same, but I am so glad I came here instead of China Town. The food was amazing, lovely and fresh, and I would recommend the salt & pepper prawns. There is also a fantastic view looking out over the Thames and because of the way the floor is elevated everyone gets a view - even if you are sitting at the back of the restaurant. Combined with the TT "35% off" offer it was brillian value. Not a great deal of choice from the menu but what they do have is amazing. See you again.
Perfect place to take visitors to London with great views of the Houses of Parliament. Very good menu.
Authentic Chinese in a great settin
Service, food and location are excellent. And with the TopTable 35% offer its excellent value for money as well. A little difficult to find in the dark so they could do with better signage but apart from that a great experience and would highly recommend Zen.
Great views across the Thames
Great views across the Thames to the Houses of Parliament. Excellent staff in a lovely ambience. Ivan Lendl at the next table. Good wine at a reasonable price. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
View Alone Worth It
This is a new favourite place to take out of town guests. The Westminster river view alone is worth it. On weekend afternoons, it's not crowded -- perfect if you dislike crowded restaurants or loud background music.
The food is quite good (esp Beijing specialities), but dishes vary. Beijing duck was perfectly steamed, moist, artfully carved by the chef. But -- our only complaint -- he plated only half the meat; and took the rest back to the kitchen, never to be seen again! The Beijing style dumplings were delicate and delicious. Try Street Market Potatoes, Aubergine, & Green Pepper -- crisp, soft, and tasty all at once.
The service is excellent. And once done, the outdoor terrace is a peaceful place to linger, away from tourist sounds.
We visited Zen China before the theatre on Wednesday evening. We took advantage of the 35% off deal. The setting is great, with views over the river and of Big Ben. The menu has great variety, with reasonably priced starters although I thought that the main courses were slightly overpriced. the service was very good, I would recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again.
Outstanding China Restaurant
The most wonderful meal I have ever had, excellent service, very well recomended.
Excellent meal with fantatstic view
My wife and I really enjoyed our meal. The Scallop and prawn dishes were fantatstic.
Good value after the top table discount is taken off, otherwise a tad on the expensive side. Bit confusing as to what the discount applies to, some of the more interesting menu items are not part of the discount.
the food was out of this world,
the food was out of this world, and the service, our table overlooked big ben to top the evening off..
Booked a table for a small group for Chinese New Year dinner.
Despite being Chinese New Year, the restaurant was not too full. We were seated at a round table by the window, which had surprisingly good views of the Thames and Big Ben - definitely worth requesting the window-side table, as the other tables in the restaurant do not offer such views.
We ordered a few simple dishes - e.g. la zi ji (chili chicken), mapo tofu and half a Peking duck. The waiter said the remaining meat and bones of the duck could be turned into a second course (for free!) so we ended up with an additional course of duck soup. The food was tasty and authentic enough to please 4 Chinese people. Service was efficient and pleasant. Very happy with the experience!
I booked the table for 5 for last week's Chinese New Year occasion. The view we were facing was the gorgeous big ben at night and we really enjoyed the warm service and nice food! Would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese food but also looking for some good views!
Really Nice Experience
I booked a table for me and my partner for Valentine's Day and wasn't disappointed.
There was a choice of two set menus (we went for the duck menu) and was delighted with both the service of the polite staff along with the quality of the food.
I would say that the menu was maybe just a tad expensive but that didn't detract from what was a very good dining experience.
Would highly recommend!
what makes this special is the view
We went to Zen China after visiting Somerset House and after a couple of passes of the entrance we made our way up the small staircase at the side of the Aquariam centre. It is a small place with a cosy atmosphere and wonderful view of Big Ben and the river. The food covers all the basics that you find in Chinatown from hot and sour soup to crispy duck with the pancakes and cucumbers etc. A nice addition to the drinks menu is warm Sake which really does go well with duck and plum sauce! The food is reasonably priced and tastes good. If you like Chinese and want a great view in an intimate place this place is for you. If you book the 25% deal through toptable be aware that it does not cover everything on the menu.
Delicious food, fabulous views!!!!
My husband, brother and I had dinner at zen china a few nights ago. The view was amazing so I didn't mind too much about the quality of the food but I was really amazed by how good the food was. Portion size was huge and all our staters and main meals were superb. Service was great. I will be back again very soon!!!
Amazing view and lovely food!
We had a great pre-theatre dining experience at Zen China in London. Beautiful view and lovely food and service! Will visit again soon.
Good spot in a touristy location!
Took mum here on Mothering Sunday and it was a lovely surprise to find some peace and quiet just outside of the London Eye. With a lovely view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Food was nice - especially the Duck Fried Rice and the Salt & Chilli Squid.
Good as always
Lunch menu is cheap and good quality. Totally worth it Everytime.
Zen China Restaurant
Zen China Restaurant, London…
Good food, Good staff and Good location.
Went there for my dinner date
Went there for my dinner date the service was fast the food was the best loved its the price was also affordable , if u looking for a nice quiet place to eat and enjoy your meal while watching the Thames and enjoying the good view of big ben this is the place
The chef really knows how to cook duck! I had shredded duck wrapped in lettuce and my friend had stir-fried duck with beansprouts. The location is stunning, overlooking Big Ben. While the crowds filled the pavements outside, it was quiet and relaxed in the restaurant. Excellent food and location, I would never have found this restaurant without toptable
absolutely gorgeous setting- we got a seat right by the window with the best view of the Thames and the houses of Parliament and as it got darker it looked magical. The food was nice, and the servers were relatively friendly. Booked for a group of 6 and it was simple and easy. The restaurant was basically empty, which felt a bit strange but meant that we didn't disturb anyone! I would definitely go back again, and i thought the food was good value for money.
The view was lovely, overlooking Big Ben and the restaurant was set in the old county hall so lovely surroundings. Had the set menu for two which was great value and delicious.
I'd recommend anyone go there.
Chinese food with a view
Zen's location provides diners with a lovely view across the Thames to Westminster. The dim sum and roast duck were excellent. However, some of the food which was labeled as spicy failed to provide a fiery punch. Service was OK. I'd say there are better Chinese restaurants in London but this is a nice place to bring guests for decent food and a great view.
I celebrated my 26th birthday with my husband and friends, the waiters were outstanding very patient considering we were a group of 10 the food was delicious and the view of river Thames with all the lighting just lovely. Bottom line I would definatly recommend this restaurant.
Nice Evening, Nice Restaurant
Went to Zen China with my Mum, Dad and Sister and overall had a nice evening. The ambience was pleasant (casual), the service was good and we got a table by the window as requested. The starters were really good (although duck spring rolls, had more spring than duck), mine & my Sister's mains were very average and a bit bland. My parents both said their mains were really good (lamb dishes). I have to agree with the other reviews that it was slightly over priced for what you get. I would recommend ordering a number of starters and skipping the main. I would go back again, and do just that; starters only.
This restaurant was amazing, the views were stunning and the atmosphere was fantasic, food excellent, I will definately be going back to Zen's very soon.
Great food - faultlessly cooked; great service with a smile and; fantastic view over the river and Westminster. I could not have asked for more.
Nice little find - but don't
Nice little find - but don't get distracted by the similarly named China Zen around the corner. One of my friends ended up there instead (easy to do as they sound the same and Zen China isn't that well-marked). The food was excellent. Next time I would not pick the set menu - looking around at the mostly Chinese clientele, I thought the a la carte food looked better and more interesting. The service was good, although possibly a little slower than it needed to be, and I was served a pinot grigio rather than the sauvignon I asked for. The view is incredible, looking directly out on the Thames and Big Ben. I would definitely go back, and one of my friends actually booked a table for next week before he left.
Lovely decoration and food
We didn't know this restaurant was here in such a prime position - up the steps and on to the terrace at County Hall. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with wood panelling, comfortable chairs, soft lighting, tablecloths and soft relaxing chinese type music. As Big Ben chimes County Hall changes from blue to red! The food was very nice - we had a set menu - lovely crisp prawn toasts and the duck was good. Staff were very attentive at first but when we had finished our second course they all seemed to disappear for ages which was a bit odd. We had to call them over to ask for a dessert when they eventually reappeared but they didn't ask if we wanted tea of anything afterwards. We would go again for the ambience, food and view.
Zen China - London
Zen China - London, been here before, Staff attentive, food very good, space between tables (so dinner for two, is just that). Over all a very pleasant evening.
Nice food, nice place
Many people may miss this restaurant as it is above the London aquarium, but definitely worth a visit. The food was very nice and the service good. My girlfriend had the duck which was carved at the table which was a nice touch. The price was very reasonable for such a central location. Will come back again.
Little gem and great food and views
The food was amazing and really liked the set menu. Great service and friendly staff! Highly recommended
Friendly staff and great view.
Staff were friendly.
Best thing about the place is the great view of Big Ben whilst eating!
Food was slightly/fairly overpriced though and staff mentioned a 30 % percent discount offer that we couldn't get for some reason that I didn't understand. Funny in that no one had to mention it!
The food was too good will be coming back again, the restaurant it self it outstanding
Great end to a great day in London
Fabulous meal in a fantastic restaurant
A little Gem
This restaurant was a little hard to find as it's set back from the main Queens walk; it's up some steps into the county hall building itself - NOT Zen Cafe - and it does indeed have great views for everyone's table. The really good thing here is you can hear each other talk even when it got pretty busy. The portions are big and the food was good. We had 3 courses for £35 each with drinks. The service is friendly and efficient. We will be going again.
Everyone loved it!
Was very impressed with the venue and the food taste amazing!
Why haven't I been here before?
Zen is a bit hard to find but well worth the effort. Great value Chinese with a fantastic outlook and with well spaced tables. We were a group of 5 and we had the set menu (min 2) for £28 and we could therefore chose an additional 2 dishes on top of the set. The good was really good and the quantities were also excellent. There was a good selection of wine and starting at around £19 very good value. I will definitely go back
Zen is a Gem!
Great service, start to finish, no hurrying with our selection or feeling of trying to get us to leave, and we was the last table to leave. Excellent selection of food and wine, and the view is amazing, try and get a window table. Would not hesitate to book again.
Lot's of yummy food
This was my second time dining at Zen - this time there was just the two of us. Out booking was for 1930 and when we walked in the restaurant was empty..........so they put us on a table away from the window because they had bookings at 2100........when we left there were still some of those tables empty. Other than that the food was as good as previous, although we both found the quantity of food for 2 on the set menu was way more than we could eat. Good value wine! Would certainly recommend and go back.
