15th Birthday meal
This was an ideal venue for families with older children because the food choice suits all tastes and is affordable for a family with foodie tendancies. The service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. We have eaten here before without the children and its also a lovely venue for a cosy intimate meal. The shop makes it well worth the drive out from Dewsbury to pick up a few foodie treats as well as enjoying the restaurant.
A foggy December night
Took us longer to arrive than expected due to fog, but this did not present any problems. Service excellent, all staff very attentive. Good selection of real ales i had Landord which was a very good pint.I had the pigeon Breast and black pudding salad, followed by steak and Xmas pudding. All well cooked and extremely well flavoured. Unfortunately we were seated right next to the kitchen door, not the best place and next time will try to avoid this. Would have given 5 stars but for the seating arrangement.
I have never tasted a seafood pancake quite like it it melted in my mouth and the proper chips were as they are described - beautiful - I will definitely return.
good food and location
Excellently cooked food as always. Especially the 2/3 course set meal is good value for money. Good views all around and a cafe to sample some delicacies.
Excellent food, slow service
We went the other day for a post-Christmas family lunch, we hadn't been for a couple of years but had happy memories of our previous visits. The venue decor has been updated since our last visit and is very welcoming. The food is superb. However, the service was quite slow when we visited, we waited 45 mins between starter and main course and my parents hadn't had a starter so waited the best part of 1.5 hrs for food. No apology was offered. The service was courteous but not warm or friendly, our waiter only struck up a conversation when the bill was presented. Hopefully it was an off day as the food is outstanding and excellent value, but I'm inclined not to return.
Rams Head - Lovely Sunday Lunch!
Good value on fixed price menu for sunday lunch, in lovely rural setting with some good views from the car park, the restaurant is a traditional old style pub nicely appointed and in keeping (small traditional windows hence you can't really see the views from inside). Table 4 is particularly uncomfortable for a party of 6 due to the gate legs. The starters look and taste better than the menu description and were enjoyed by all. The sunday roast options were good, presentation was excellent and the flavours and size of portion was good. I had the salmon wellington with prawns in dill sauce on top of roasted root vegetables and I have'nt had such a nice meal for a long time and would certainly return just for that if nothing else!
A class act
A dramatic location for this traditional inn with the very best traditional values. The menus are extensive, the wine list is impressive and the quality of the food is second to none.
Good dining experience
We have been going to this restaurant for years and have always found it offers good, consistent quality and value for money. The food is extremely good and plentiful. Whilst we are not meat eaters, there are plenty of fish and vegetarian options. The home-made chips are wonderful.
The staff are pleasant and friendly and were very kind to my 84 year-old mother.
Booked a table for 3 for lunch. Sat in a room on our own but had a lovely real fire & was nice and cosy. Food was very good & menu had lots of choice. Liked the fact that much of the produce is replicated in the deli next door. Mixed game terrine on the starters menu was really tasty & really liked the mini steak pie for main. Rest of the party also thoroughly enjoyed their good. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Service was not rushed which was nice. Will definitely be returning!
It was a set menu for Valentines evening with a good range of choices.
My wife had the medallions of beef which melted in the mouth and I had oven baked sea bass which didn't disappoint.
The ambience was open log fire and candle light and between courses we shared champagne sorbet finishing off with a shared medley of sweets. Briliant
We have eaten at the Ram's
We have eaten at the Ram's Head previously, and were not disapointed, food and service were up to thier usual high standard
Well worth it
A very enjoyable meal, well cooked and presented. Will come again with friends an family.
Very welcoming pub the open
Very welcoming pub the open fire made it feel very cosy on such a cold evening, although the starters were very ordinary, the main course was excellent and we will go back to eat there again.
One of my favorite restaurants
The Rams Head consistently put out great food for it's customers. We often go and although new to the area almost feel like locals there. The staff are professional and welcoming. The food is outstanding. What can I say, just s truly lovely place set in beautiful countryside. The meals are filling without being too big. Do yourself a favour and support your local pub/restaurant and go. I doubt you will regret it.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meals here on our first visit. Will certainly be back before too long.
Distance prevents us from lunching here more often, but whenever we meet friends and the Ram's Head is roughly at the half way point, we return. As before we were not disappointed, with the high standards previously set for value, service and excellence continuing to be maintained.

We had a super meal and the food was excellent!! Loved it!
Having eaten at the Rams Head previously and been disappointed we decided to give it another go, and we were not disappointed, whilst the specials had reduuced the quality of the food was wonderful, nice to see that since our last visit the decor had been updated and looked more like a fine dining establishment, our waiter was very nice and kept the experience relaxed, well done Rams Head we will be back.
I would like to congratulate The Rams Head Inn, on there whole dining experience. I recently took my partner for her Birthday, as we had stopped off one before, but just had the burger, and this is still on my top 5 list.. ;-)
The food was lovely, faultless, and the service was just as good. We were never left waiting and there was always someone around to ask if we needed anything.
The whole meal was very reasonably priced, and I would defiantly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area, or even travelling, as it is well worth a visit....
Dinner at the Rams Head Again
We took Dutch relatives who were visiting for a meal, as big foodies they were impressed with the menu and the quality of the food. We eat here fairly regularly and were not diappointed. Would definitely recomend, well worth the drive out.

We stayed at local caravan site, booked on line as recommended for busy times. 2 of us dined ,Food was beautiful, goats cheese salad and pâté followed by steak, wine also good. Room we ate in dark,I had view of kitchen.would recomend to friend and would go again.
Quality experience all round. Good value, good service, well presented, excellent and wide menu choice, reasonably priced. Will certainly go again.
Country pub with great service
Great location and ambiance.
Good menu choices.
A definite place to call again.
Great staff and very nice food and beer.
We need pubs with food just like this one and the deli added a wonderful dimension to the experience.
Excellent service & quality of food
The Rams Head is a traditional pub with a superb restaurant and the added bonus of a farm shop. The quality of the food is excellent and the produce used to make it is clearly a priority. Service is very good and the pub/restaurant has a nice ambience. There is plenty of choice on the menu with an additional fixed priced menu with a good selection at very reasonable prices.
I'll be going back soon!
Booked this Restaurant for 6 of us as we were staying at a local Caravan site. We booked the fish and chip tea. When we arrived the table was made out and we was given a menu, hello we had booked the fish and chip tea. Then the Girl removed the glasses and plates the table seemed empty. We ordered our fish and chips it arrived well presented but the chips had salt on them. As most of us did not do salt at all we were surprised to find out that the chips came with it on them. When we pointed it out to the girl she said we could change the chips but as we all wanted to eat at the same time declined the offer. We would go back there but probably try something else.Date we ate was friday the 9th august.
Good food and service as always. Would highly recommend.
impressing the Americans
We brought some American embassy people to dine. they were highly impressed with the setting, the building and the food. We were sorry not to have time for pudding!

Lovely moorland pub/ restaurant. Good food, good service, great views especially at sunset. Pleased to see the restaurant is accommodated in the original rooms. Well worth the journey, also great deli on site with bakery.

We have only ever been to the Rams Head Inn for an Evening Meal. It offers a good choice of meals to suit all tastes. The restaurant has a cosy ambience. The staff are friendly and attentive and the service good. The food is good and well presented.

Chose this pub as a convenient place to meet our friend from Yorkshire. What a wonderful surprise. A warm and friendly atmosphere, roaring fire and welcoming staff. The food was excellent, great choice and beautifully cooked. Will definitely be back.
Homely with great food.

Great food on a Sunday
Great food and a great time on Sunday. Good value and good service. Enjoyed our time there as always and will go again.
The location is a draw, the
The location is a draw, the atmosphere is perfect (although I was a little sad that the real fire in the first room had been replaced by a log burner!) and the cosy feel of the Ram's Head makes for an intimate dining experience. The food doesn't disappoint either and there is a vast selection on the menu!
