Girlie night out
Had a great night at the Plough, service was great, food was lovely and we all loved the new extended eating area - much more spacious than previously.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Atmosphere was lovely look forward to lots more evenings there.
Again & again
I love this place..they have got everything right & the new extension just finishes it off!!
Best pub in Harborne
Simply fantastic. Great food, friendly staff & wonderful atmosphere.
Best pub in Birmingham
The Plough never fails to deliver great service, value, food and ambience, and caters for everybody. The new refurb is fabulous. Well done!
Brunch with our American visitors
As brunch is a big thing in America we thought we would bring my son and his American wife and daughter to the plough. They were very impressed, especially with the veggie sausage! Service was fantastic and food delicious!
Fab as usual
The Plough is one of my favourite pubs with great beer (I would definitely recommend the Butty Bach, best pint in Harborne IMHO). They have also managed to creat a range of food and friendly, helpful staff that means that the pub always has a good atmosphere on every day/night of the week.
On this visit we were there for New Years Day brunch and it was very busy because they opened at 12 with a queue outside and most of the tables with bookings. The staff warned us about the expected wait, and worked hard to keep it to a minimum. Despite the number of orders, the food was delicious and well presented. Topped off with a really good cappuccino, it was a perfect start to the New Year.
fantastic place , no regrets,
fantastic place , no regrets, love it, and very happy to there every day, thank you
A gem in Harborne
I came here with 10 friends for my birthday and everyone was impressed. Booking was easy, and when I had to amend numbers the person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and all too willing to accommodate. When we arrived there was a small group taking up one of the tables needed for my party. Thankfully they left quickly enough and the staff arranged and cleaned the tables speedily whilst we ordered drinks at the bar. The menu has plenty of choice and we thought the food was great for the price. It was also served quickly with no problems, which is difficult with a large group. The staff are very welcoming and The Plough has a lovely atmosphere. There were people of all ages including kids so great for everyone. Highly recommended.
A place worth multiple visits
A true Italian Calzone and pizza, delicious burgers, amazing atmosphere
The rstaurant / bar was bubbling with a lively atmosphere.! The food arrived very promptly and everyone was happy with their choice ! As it was Burns night we chose the traditional haggis neeps and tatties . Our friends had pork belly As it was a Friday night there was a mixture of all ages - some eating others just chatting with friends. This is a real hub for local people in Harborne ! Not the place for a quiet night out !
Good atmosphere, and really
Good atmosphere, and really good pub food. All fresh food and also do specials
Great Lunch Atmosphere
We have been to The Plough many times before, but last weekend, my brother and his family were visiting and we decided to take them there. The online booking was prompt and I received an email a few days before and a phone call from The Plough the day before to confirm again. The atmosphere was great for my young neice and nephew and from their point of view the essential colouring in was provided. The children's menu was quite good value and it even included an ice cream for dessert. All our meals were as stated and arrived fairly promptly considering how busy it was. The service was a bit haphazard, with a lot of confusion. Also, I have a Tastecard so we got 2 41, but otherwise it is not that reasonable. Overall, a great place to visit!
Love this little gem...
I love The Plough and feel so lucky to live so close. The ambiance of the Gastro Pub is spot on and the staff do a great job of making you feel very welcome- it really is a little gem in the heart of Harborne!
Best roast dinner I've ever had!
Such a great place
This was my second visit to The Plough, and I loved it all over again.
Great food, great presentation of food, quick service.
A vibrant place to have fun and eat excellent food.
We were 2 families with a 8 week old and a 17 month old..the staff were very helpful, although food did take 40 minutes to come... The pub was extremely busy as it always is...would highly recommended the chicken roast dinner..fab place to meet friends for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner...
Once again, the food and the
Once again, the food and the atmosphere was great! Friendly staff and always keen to assist, before you even think what the problem is! They are the best!
More room but still very good food
The Plough is a pub that takes its food (and its drinks) seriously. The main problem has been its popularity could make it hard to get a table. They solved this by extending into part of the garden so now the tables are spaced so you can easily can walk between them. Some of the garden remains, although the night we went it was so cold only the smokers were out there. The food remains good value, particularly the 2 for 1 offers. Staff are friendly and efficient.
Posh pub grub
Excellent food + service in a fun place with a great atmosphere. Staff are extremely helpful and very friendly...keen to please and make your experience an enjoyable one.
241 Pizza on Monday? Yes please!
I've been to the Plough lots but never reviewed. Pizzas are amazing! Better than anywhere else and meat, veggie and fish options. I had the anchovy, tuna and caper pizza and it never fails to taste wonderful. On a Monday, also two for one which means you can eat a huge, scrummy pizza for about £6! Served on wooden boards with very thin base and a pizza cutter wheel if you don't fancy knife and forks.
Also a great selection of wines, beers and lagers and good outdoor space. Drinks can be a little more pricey though (more akin to city centre prices).
Great pub in Birmingham suburbs serving all ages from young families to older, cooler grandparents.
But if you can, book. This place gets very busy and you might not get a table!
6 of us went on a Tuesday for bogof burgers and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was ok but the bar staff struggled to take payment so we were waiting around for an extra 10 mins. Also there was a quiz on which was quite loud. Overall i would recommend for a drink or food on offer but at full price- £12.50 a burger is a bit steap.
The Plough is a wonderful
The Plough is a wonderful friendly Pub/restaurant in Harborne. The welcoming atmosphere and tasty home-cooked food is second to none. Adam and his staff are welcoming, attentive and friendly without being intrusive, they have given new life to this Pub and to Harborne. People of all ages are catered for - it truly is a delight.
A great night at the Plough
Staff were amazing - they really are the best in Birmingham
We had a birthday celebration there and they bent over backwards to make it special. The birthday girl received a card and a giftcard, which was really appreciated.
Good pub food
The Plough is fun. It is a bit quirky, usually full and (too) noisy but attention to detail and efficient, friendly bar staff make for a good experience. Good quality pub food with an edge, and a nice range of beers and wines available.
We went as a party of 5, 4 adults and a child and all enjoyed our pizzas. It was very busy (Good Friday) but we were served as promptly as possible. Prices are higher than, eg, Wetherspoons, but as the food is so much nicer it's worth it for a treat. We paid to park across the road at the green man as there doesn't seem to be a carpark at the plough. There was a big outside eating area but it was too cold to use it!
Another excellent evening,
Another excellent evening, wonderful food and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you v much!
I went there with a group
I went there with a group of friends on a Friday evening.
I liked the food and the interiors, but it was too noisy; impossible to talk
Easily the best Pub in Birmingham
My girlfriend and I absolutely love it here. We went 3 times in 4 days and loved it every single time. She's a coeliac and even though we didn't give any warning they were incredibly accommodating and helpful. Our food was phenomenal, can;t fault it at all, on Sunday there was a bit of a wait (which they warned us about) and brought out popcorn to keep us going whilst we waited.
Cannot fault this pub in any way. Thank you!
Have been to the Plough twice now and it never disappoints. Fantastic food, unique interior decor and great ambience. Staff are really friendly. Went last Saturday for my birthday and the staff gave me a card with a £5 Plough gift card and a slice of cake - really lovely touch.
I've been to the Plough many times and have always enjoyed the value, food, staff and atmosphere. I would highly recommend the Plough to all. A very good mix of all ages visiting the Plough. The added breakfast menu is a very good addition. Back for breakfast this week!
Best Calzone ever!
Best place in Birmingham for calzone, in good variety of tastes, good price and big enough to satisfy your hunger but not enough to give extra fat, just the right size!
Been here lots of times now but just love the decor, outside area with its plants and shabby chic decoration, tea cosys etc.
Always busy with cross section of visitors: business, families, ladies who lunch, chaps meeting up.
Excellent pizzas and burgers, pudding menu very restricted. Will definitely be re-visiting when next in the area.
Cool place for the young
Very on trend and lovely if you are 18-35ish. Food is fine and everyone is nice and the palce has been done up in an interesting way.
Great food every time
I come to the plough for food at least twice a month and it is always great. I have been here with work friends for lunch or with family and feel totally comfortable having my 4 year old son with us. The portions are massive so as yet I have not had to but a separate kids meal! I also have a Taste card so the value for money is unbelievable.
Excellent food and attention
Excellent food and attention to detail of staff members who were extremely pleasant in a very busy environment
The plough offers a variety of food for a variety of customers, it is pleasantly ambient , crud fly but efficient staff overall Harbornites are lucky yo gave rich a venue on their doorstep.
what a treat!
Came here for a little breakfast treat for my birthday and was very impressed with service, food, ambiance and the staff were absolutely delightful! Will b recommending this little gem to others!
Tuesday quiz night
Not for the faint hearted!
But two for one burgers and great atmosphere help me to ignore this fact, I know nothing!
Had a great lunch here with a friend. Lovely ambience, cool interior and good service. Food was tasty and well presented and felt that it was priced about right.
Would happily recommend.
We reserved a table, and were seated promptly on arrival. All staff were friendly, very helpful and professional. Food was served piping hot, and having had a starter we were asked how soon after we would like our main to be served which was great. Food was really tasty and I would definitely recommed the meal I had. On completion plates were cleared very quickly from the table which is often the downfall in busy pubs.
We booked for 4 people, sat at the rear adjacent to the toilet door and the open sliding window, and although we thoroughly enjoyed our meat it was a little busy with people passing to use the loo's, and people smoking outside near the window, but on the whole a very enjoyable evening.
Long live the PLOUGH! Perfect
Long live the PLOUGH! Perfect for a quick meal at lunchtime, a Sundau brunch or high tea with wonderful sandwiches and cakes. On this occasion for a family meal out. Advise booking on Saturday night as it was very busy - not the kind of place to go for quiet meal for two.
Menu is limited - if you don't like pizza or hamburgers- there is however a wide variety of these. There are always specials but on this occasion they had run out of steak at 8pm.
I have been many times now and standard has always been good. A good place to dine with a crowd and also to drink with friends /family.
Best pub in Birmingham
Have already recommended to all my friends and go here several times a month, whatever the occasion. Good ales, good wine selection and plenty of unusual spirits and liqueurs. Great welcoming atmosphere & always well staffed.
one of my favorites
living in harborne, plough is my top choice to meet with friends: casual, comfortable and relaxing, children friendly, good food with great deals, also impressed with their friendly and good service. however, I only go there before 6pm, can't find spaces to even stand in the evening!
Great food and ambience
We went on a Wednesday night and booked a table (for 4). Good job we did as all tAbles were taken! Great choice on the new menu. This is more a pub than restaurant so does get very busy with drinkers at the weekend. The pulled chicken burger I had was fantastic. Can't go wrong with the Plough.
The food was brilliatn as
The food was brilliatn as usual. The prices are a bit steep though
Pizzas were divine, service friendly and helpful, ambience was good, nice buzz. Always recommend this pub/eatery :)
This is what a pub should be
Great food, beer and wine with excellent service. Pizzas have properly thin, crisp bases and are not overloaded with topping, but still are very filling. Fish and chips are pretty good too.
Now that the seating has been massively expanded it usually is possible to get a table more or less any time. For the time that triggered this review I had booked because I needed to talk about work with a colleague, but a few days later I went on spec for lunch and while there were not many tables free I only needed one.
Had a great lunch with friends at the Plough, does not look like much from the outside but great atmosphere, excellent food and friendly, caring service. I immediately felt comfortable no sooner I walked in and despite being busy, service at the bar was very quick. The food is not chain pub cheap but the 'offers of the day' make it very affordable and the food is a big step up from generic pub food. Shame I do not live nearer as I would make it my local.
Went on two for one burger.. Food came quickly and was very tasty. Only thing that brought it down it took them 35 min to clear our empty plates.. Def book a table as it's full ! Also do two for one pizzas on a Monday another bargain
this is a popular pub and
this is a popular pub and always busy - always best to book -
Weekend brunches are fantastic and they are very accommodating for our 2 and half year old who often makes a mess!
