Great value two course lunch
Great value two course lunch at Il Convivio in London's Belgravia. Delicious though not particularly plentiful, which suited us perfectly. Will definitely go again if in the area.
Real Italian all the way!
My friend and I had dinner here last Friday evening and found the service was very attentive without being intrusive and the quality of food was superb even from the set menu. Lovely table and not too noisy so we could hear ourselves speak. Would definitely recommend it for those wanting the real authentic Italian experience in a lovely setting.
Perfect place for a business lunch
The setting is formal enough to impress but the price makes it friendly enough to squeeze through the company budget. Close enough to Victoria station to make transport easy. Great service and fine italian dining
First time that I have eaten
First time that I have eaten here and would go again. It was reasonably busy for a tuesday evening and the restaurant had a formal but casual feel. Service was excellent. The scallops to start were delicious followed by some excellent pheasant. Good wine list to suit all tastes. Will go again.
Il Convivio - client lunch
This is the second time I have booked this restaurant to take clients to and it's the second time that we've all thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambience and service. This is a stunning "find" and although we had lunch at 1pm, they were in no rush to usher us out and we left around 5pm, so it's very unhurried and a lovely atmosphere. I would defintiely recommend his restaurant and will be booking again.
Welcoming and unpretentiuos
Il Convivio lives up to its name and provides understated excellence in its ambience and food. The service was efficient without being intrusive. A perfect restaurant for an intimate chat and occasion chared by friends.
Very good quality food, excellent
Very good quality food, excellent service and the least expensive wines were very good. The prices were high but it was a special occasion (my wife's birthday) so I was happy to pay. We will go back again.
Good service, good food- suggest you give it a try
A gem, still burnished...
Il Convivio just never disappoints...fine food, lovely atmosphere...long may it continue.
High standards yet again
Great food, service and wines, nothing more to add. Really enjoy the place
Really lovely Italian food
Really lovely Italian food with pleasant staff. Always love it here and a real treat!!
met up with friends for Saturday lunch. Very welcoming staff; ambience pleasant although surprisingly quiet (only 2 lunch parties - perhaps snow affected). Had very good value £17.50 2 course lunch deal (although drinks etc pushed cost to £50pp. Starters superb as was main course Sole. Puddings not quite same standard and somewhat different from what menu stated but quite OK. Altogether very enjoyable and we didn't want to leave to get out in the snow again. Wines good choice and value (£17 for Verdicchio). Recommended if you are anywhere in vicinity.
I visit this restaurant often, as its nice, uncomplicated, good food, great service and tiny patio for smokers ! On this occasion it felt a bit empty, but I understand January is considered 'low period' in hospitality industry ! Food was very nice, good wine. I'll be back soon
A very relaxed evening at
A very relaxed evening at Il Convivio. Food delicious. Spolit for choice for vegetarian options. Only down point was that I had asked for gluten free bread for my partner in advance, but was not available, which is surprising these days. Wine a bit pricey but good selection. Helpful and courteous staff. I will be returning.
Superb food comes at a price
Really top food- and I'm Italian born and bred. The fresh pasta is lovely and handmade, we had rabbit with cavolo nero (tender and juicy) and a seafood starter, all washed down by a nice bottle of light red from Southern Italy. The toptable deal made the meal more affordable - I would say a meal here comes easily to about 50£ per person (with a fairly low-priced wine), so keep it for that special occasion rather than everyday dining.
Very pleasant evening with nice food,
Ambience with kind & attentive service.
special occasion 'secret place'
outstanding food, service and ambience. You could argue it's not cheap but ehy you pay for quality so this shouldn't come as a surprise.
A good evening out
Excellent restaurant for a good dinner with friend(s). Formal and elegant, yet still felt comfortable and welcoming, with attentive staff. Excellent wine, and food lived up to its promise (and price). Will certainly go again.
Lovely lunchtime experience
The starters here really shone, particularly the spiced tuna, whereas the pasta we chose for a main course was good but possibly a little over cooked. The service was excellent, neither too slow, nor too fast, and our waitress was extremely pleasant. We shall return.
One Year Anniversary
The first time I took my girlfriend out on a lunch date, Il Convivio was on the shortlist of restaurants to take her to. I decided in the end that it might have been a bit "too much" - but it was the perfect venue to celebrate our first year together. The menu is outstanding, and perfectly served. The staff are very welcoming, and I'm looking forward to future visits back there.
Our dinner at Il Convivio
Our dinner at Il Convivio has been pleasant with food in line with expectations and a relaxed environment. Good service. Price was not cheap but fair given the quality of the food, The Toptable offer helped. We will go back.
A good set lunch mid week.
A good set lunch mid week. Friendly service. Lunch time was not busy but food, service, value and surroundings suggest it should be more so.
lunch at Il Convivio
Good Italian restaurant. Quality of food high and constant, good service and relaxed environment make it a very good choice also for a Saturday lunch. The Toptable offer makes it good value for money too, creating an extremely good combination.
We went there with some Italian
We went there with some Italian friends who thoroughly enjoyed the food, what more can we say!
Try the Lobster with black spaghetti, delicious!
Great, fun night out with friends
Il Convivio came up trumps gain. With both of us couples living in different corners of the Home Counties, Il Convivio was a perfect place to meet in London and worth the effort of the long travel. Food, wines and service all perfect for the occasion. A fun evening.
Three birthday girls
We are always looking for new venues to celebrate our birthdays. Il Convivio did not disappoint. The food was very well presented and interesting. There was a good ambience and the waiters were helpful
Belgarvia best kept secret
It is one of my favourite restaurants in Belgravia. Dining room is light, tables are well apart, atmosphere sophisticated, design stylish, welcome always friendly. I took family, friends, clients and foodies here. Every time we had an amazing meal, and people were talking business cards of the restaurant to return on their own. Menu has something for everyone. Wine list is diverse, and big selection by the glass. But what makes the restaurant is the friendly but at the same time formal service, depending on how you want it to be. Staff are extremely knowledgable about the food and wine, will make good suggestions, change the ingredients if needed, always eager to make your experience very memorable.
All was very lovely, but a
All was very lovely, but a quiet night. Sure the ambience is better when there are more people in and the staff are busier.
Hard to fault
Great ambience and the food is excellent . Portion size complements the taste so you know you have eaten well but are not stuffed.
Very enjoyable dinner; relaxed surroundings and great food
Andy - Kingston
I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions both on business and for a personal celebration in the private room. I have never been disappointed with the quality, variety and presentation of the food. The staff are friendly and efficient without being intrusive. I'll return very soon.
The Chelsea flower show menu
I ate at Il Convivio several years ago and it was good, but a recent visit finds the restaurant even better. I choose from a set Chelsea flower show menu, delicate, fresh and spring-like. Bread is brought as we wait for our food, and the olive oil it's accompanied by is wonderfully grassy and bitter. Parsley root soup is an original starter, especially studded with tiny, marvellous lemon goat cheese tortellini. I could have eaten a whole plateful of these, the dish's only fault is the lack of more tortellini! Sea bass is crisp, moist and cooked to perfection, on a bed of sweet and creamy pumpkin, counterbalanced by salty olive tapenade. Watermelon and chilli sorbet is a great, original ending to a most pleasant springtime meal.
Began our evening in the bar area with some wonderful martinis and gin & tonics; cozy, yet bright, it was almost like being in someone's home. We were a party of five and had a large table in the atrium area. Beautiful interior and quite comfortable seating (we are all very tall and having a nice, spacious seating area was a treat). Service was impeccable; attentive, professional, and friendly. The food was divine. I think we tasted all food groups, from vegetarian to fish to pork. Handmade pasta was sooooo terrific. All delicious! The wines we had (suggestions from the very knowledgeable manager) were sublime. We will return here again and again on future trips to London.
Excellent as always
Il Convivio is what one really wants in a neighbourhood restaurant - frendly, welcoming and completely dependable in terms of the quality of the food and service. However, to call it a "neighbourhood restaurant" is perhaps misleading as this superior Belgravia establishment is a very far cry from your average local spaghetti house. It is affordable enough to go there fairly often but smart enough for it to be a special occasion venue as well. Highly recomended.
Surprising value for London
Everything was as good as other diners had said. It has a nice fresh atmosphere, the back room has a retractable ceiling, so dining on summer evenings is a pleasure. The service was attentive, without being oppressive and the food was very good indeed. I opted for the weekday special menu for £23. The first course was a delicious grilled prawn and vegetable dish, beautifully presented. I then opted for grilled calves liver with mashed potato and spinach. It was perfectly cooked and would not have expected better at a top notch restaurant such as San Lorenzo's, where I know I would have paid triple the price. One final point - it was not too noisy! All in all a great experience and I would not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend it.
Worthy of any occasion...
Took the usual recommendations from top table and wasn't disappointed. We started with a simple choice of bread and olives with an amuse-gueule of tomato, basil and creamy mozzarella. We opted for the freshly made pasta and I ate the veal ravioli and even writing about it has me thinking of the delicate flavours. My guest enjoyed the spaghetti which was cooked to perfection. Unusually we chose desserts, not something we are inclined to do, we had Creme Brûlée and lemon and amaretto base cheesecake.
We thought that there were sufficient quantities to allow enjoyment without overfilling the plate on each course and I have to say that a personal touch when only one diner has wine is the beautiful small carafe on the table.
Really lovely restaurant,
Really lovely restaurant, excellent service and great food. Definitely one to add to our list of London restaurants to return to.
Il Convivio is in Ebury Street, a quiet, enjoyable backwater, but very near Victoria and Sloane Square. Modern, smart interior, with opening roof at the rear, good for summer dining. Food is very accomplished, mainly slight twists on Italian standards, finishing with well made desserts, often a shortfall in restaurants. Good selction of wines, well listed, including grape varieties, which is very useful with many italain wines. Excellent, attentive service, inclding offer that if I did not care for the wine I chose, they woudl exchange it. All our group enjoyed the meal and will visit again
Food and service were excellent. We had the benefit of a of Toptable offer 25% off the food, which made it excellent value for money. It is quite a large restaurant and only 2 tables were taken downstairs so the atmosphere was a bit flat.
It's the third time I have eaten here and it is always a good standard. A lovely calm environment and great service. Excellent liver and a great wine recommendation. Try it.
A fine place
We had been to Il Convivio before and always enjoyed it. Our latest visit was no exception. The atmosphere, service and food all combined for a fine evening. This is hardly your typical Italian restaurant. Its preparations are creative and often inspired. One of our entrees was a very nicely cooked filet of branzino accompanied by a fascinating cake of pumpkin, mushrooms and sage. A fascinating and very satisfying contrast to the fish. Our monkfish (hard to distinguish from lobster) was also excellent. Starters were similarly well-executed. We are always surprised that this restaurant isn't busier. The food is great and the setting very nice. It could only be better if things were just a tad livelier.
The best Italian food in Belgravia
Four of us had a splendid evening in this consistently excellent SW1. Everything that we ate was of the highest quality with especial praise being given to the calf's liver and to the monkfish with lemon sauce. The only thing that I would change about Il Convivio is the wine list - a few cheaper bottles would be greatly appreciated.
WE have been to Il Convivios
WE have been to Il Convivios many times and never dissapointed. Food is excellent and service attentive. Ideal location for an important business meeting or special occasion.
Our evening was perfect in every way. The attentive service is most welcome as it is not always the case anymore. The food was beautifully presented and the extras given to us made our welcome is more enjoyable. With the discount, the meal was fairly priced in today's costs.
An old secret
If you want to go to a restaurant that serves fabulous Italian food at sensible prices by the same staff you see every time then go here . We've been coming here for lunch + dinner for a long time . This place NEVER lets you down . And the BIG bonus ,you can actually hear yourselves talking .
Go soon before it's too late.
Very good plus!!!
We love this small, friendly and, of course very good restaurant! The food is carefuly prepared and the taste (more important) is always very good. And for a VERY honest price!
Went for a girlie birthday dinner, was absolutely amazing. Staff were super friendly, incredible carpaccio for starter and delicious veal for mains. Would most definitely go back again....special thanks to the manager who gave us a complimentary birthday dessert :)
dinner at II Convivio
the restaurant is well positioned at the end of vibrant Elizabeth Street with its independent boutiques and specialist shops. It is very good value for money, it has nice ambiance and attentive service. I'll be back very soon !
Great food, great service
I went with a friend for a dinner and was very nicely surprised - the service was great - smiley and friendly, and food was delicious. Menu is more original than in a typical chain-y italian. Defnitely will be back.
Great Italian hidden gem
I dined here on a Saturday night with four friends. We arrived separately, with the staff greeting us at the door to take our jackets. They were very polite, charming and courteous throughout our 4.5 hours there. They gave us plenty of time to catch up (as we haven't seen each other for some time) and gave recommendations on wine and the dishes. All of the pasta is made in-house and is definitely worth trying! We had starters, main and desert, bottles of wine, grappa etc.
This isn't a typical Italian tourist restaurant, but a real one definitely worth the distance from where ever you travel from. The atmosphere is relaxed, with low key music that is just right. The service and food is top quality, and I couldn't recommend Il Convivio enough
