Very attentive service, outstanding
Very attentive service, outstanding food and wonderful wine! My second visit, and will definitely be back.
Great place to celebrate a birthday
Excellent experience. Food was superb, service very good and nice ambience. Good, interesting wine list with many reasonably priced wines. Overall, great venue for a celebration or if you're feeling indulgent!
Great gasto pub lunch
Fantastic gastro pub lunch, which really delivered on flavour. We had the deer shoulder special and sirloin beef. Both came with generous portions of potatoes, vegetables and the beef had lovely yorkshire puddings. This is not "fine dining" as you would expect from a michelin star restaurant, but the execution and quality of ingredients is almost faultless.
Overall our main courses were c.£20 each (including all sides) providing good value for money. Bottle of champagne (a must for a proper Sunday lunch!) was £50 and we had a great Bordeaux recommended by the waiter (Graves) which was a blockbuster.
Tip: There was a Chelsea football game on locally which ruined the atmosphere a bit - avoid next time!
Would definitely return.
One week, two times Harwood Armes among other excellent restaurants in London.
The best cod we ever had (2 times). Sensational sardines as first course. Special of today, first course chicken wings, sounds not too exciting but it was, what a difference. The mint tarte with apple sorbet as desert, excellent.
We'll be back.
I booked at Harwood Arms as a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday. Several friends had recommended the place and they were SO right! We both loved it. It felt as if you were eating at home, so cosy and warm. The service was wonderful (I don't know the waiter's name but he had such a lovely smile and helped us choose between all the gnummy things on the menu in a perfect way> follow his suggestions!) and I've already recommended Harwood Arms to all my friends. Will certainly go back, just need another special occasion! =)
Great food, great service
I had my birthday dinner at the Harwood arms this weekend and the food and service was fantastic. We were a group of 7 and they were completely accommodating for our slightly odd numbers and allowed us to share starters and mains for the table. The staff were fantastic and flexible and made the evening effortless and fun. The food was delicious (as previously experienced) however the roast beef sharing board was incredible, hands down, the best 'roast' i've ever eaten. Can't wait to go back!
Very nice ambience, friendly
Very nice ambience, friendly Service and very good Food.
Really lived up to all the
Really lived up to all the 'Top Gastro Pub' hype. It wasn't busy so lacked atmosphere but the food was fantastic and service was good. Five of us had a long lazy lunch, with no complaints around the table. I would certainly recommend the Harwood Arms for those that like their food. Will definitely be popping back to try their evening offering.
Had a great 3 course lunch again! It's great that they use seasonal produce and all well prepared. Shame our table was next to a large group who were inconsiderate and loud. The restaurant staff did help but they couldn't do much about the volume.
Wonderful Sunday Lunch
A great food experience in Fulham, the menu and the quality of food and experience was truly excellent. A little pricey, but very well worth it for a special occasion. Our guests all enjoyed the experience, visiting from overseas. The Grouse was truly special. We'll be back!
We were welcomed and looked
We were welcomed and looked after all evening. Great food and wine, I did not have the venison scotch egg so I will just have to go back again!
A hidden delight
A really fabulous oasis in the middle of a residential area. The food is always delicious, surprising, interesting and beautifully presented. The homemade bread is dangerously delicious and you need to saw room for puddings
Really very special place for any and all occasions
Best meal of the year
We went here for a small birthday celebration and were not disappointed as the food and wine were truly excellent. Fully booked on a Tuesday evening in September so suspect it would be difficult to get in later in the week without booking well in advance. Strongly recommended on the basis of this one visit.
Country in town
Excellent way of eating innovative food in town without having to drive to the country.
We went there for lunch and
We went there for lunch and I am happy to give the Harwood Arms 10 out of 10 for food.
Best Gastro pub in London
Harwood Arms tops my list of the best Gastro pub in London. The venison scotch egg is unbelievably good and people who loves Gamey dishes will find a perfect match here. Never fails to perform to my expectations and deserts are lovely as well.
Believe the Hype!
I was recommended by a friend. I found the tenacious menu very appealing, fantastic British cuisine and having the 'Game Board' as a starter was delicious. Great ambiance, not too busy (though not sure about the U2 music!)
Overall a very enjoyable evening!!
Excellent Sunday Lunch
Highly recommended. Very good service and excellent food. It's also a nice place to dine in. I'll definitely be returning
Delicious food and great service
We booked a table to celebrate a 30th birthday and were not disappointed. We had bar snacks instead of starters and the Scotch Egg was outstanding, perfectly cooked with a runny yoke. The mains were also great, as were the puddings. We had the doughnuts and cheese. We went on a Tuesday - Quiz night - which didn't bother us but would do if you don't like quiz nights or don't want to get involved as everyone has to stop talking so people can hear the questions. We enjoyed it but would recommend a different night if you don't want to play!
Best , fresh, and first bite gastro
I didnt know i liked ( loved) many of the foods i ate a few nights ago. This place deserves its buzz. Great fr start to finish- the real deal. Make a reservation, more fun than a fancypants place at any price . Good value.
Hope to go again.
terrific: brown bread , scotch eggs , salmon app , grouse , pear cake !
This is the second time we have eaten here, and again it was fabulous. Can't recommend this place highly enough.
This is fine quality and seasonal food prepared beautifully and served in a relaxed pub dining environment. Would recommend the daily changing specials and the accompanying wine list also has a very good range. Will definitely return.
Excellent food, service not as grea
The food is superb. Starters of smoked salmon was good, partridge was excellent. Highlight was the special main of medium rare beef shortrib, Yorkshire pudding filled with beef pieces and the most succulent rib tips topped with bone marrow. Roast potatoes were crisp and moist. Truly great food.
Unfortunately the service was not matching. Staff were friendly and pleasant but didn't attend to us often. We used bread plates to eat shared entrees, these weren't cleared for 30-40mins until the main came, water jug wasn't filled until asked etc. Nothing that really bothers but others may expect more from a Michelin star. There only seemed to be one waiter serving the entire floor which seemed the issue.
Nonetheless definitely go there.
Well worth the trek
We went for a Sunday lunch, making the trek all the way across the bridge from Battersea, which is a rare occasion so our expectations were high. We were not disapointed. From beautiful fresh warm bread to food to die for, Oyster Broth and probably the best Sunday Lunch Ive ever had - and married to a Yorkshireman Ive had a lot. We took our three children - and when we walked in and found not another child in sight I was very worried. But the staff were really accomodating and the kids food- a smaller portion of the real menu spoilt them for my beef and Yorkshire puddings for a long time! Thoroughly recommend.
Harwood Arms provided a perfect location for an informal but impressive business lunch to entertain clients.
Will certainly use again!
Off the beaten track...
We visited Harwood Arm during our trip to London last week. Service is friendly, food is tasty and well presented, they have a very good wine list. So this is not a regular pub... This is fine dining with a country touch and a well deserved michelin star ! If you like games meat, this is a good place to try.
Previous visits have always provided superb cuisine. This lunch visit was no exception. For a man with a big appetite the size of the main course looked somewhat minimalist! However, after the two course meal, I realised that the quantity was sufficient for a lunch - I felt comfortably full!
The wine list is comprehensive and should have something to meet everyone's taste.
Please bear in mind that the venue is a pub and therefore lacking in "ambience".
Overall, dining here is a pleasant experience but given the fact that it is a pub I feel the prices are a tad excessive and the mark up on wines is too high.
Nevertheless I will return - often!
great all rounder
great menu - shared the mushroom tart, scotch eggs, fried plaice for two, the pork, apple and cinnamon ice cream, wine, tailored mocktails - all delicious
great service - warm, engaging and helpful staff, including when notified that one member of our party was pregnant
nice gastro pub dining area and setting - homey yet classy tableware and furniture
pre warned of a quiz night taking place on Tuesday nights at 8pm but we saw/heard no signs of it. And we did not feel rushed to finish our dinner either.
This is my second time at the Harwood Arms. Loved it the first time but this time not as much. Very noisy and at our table we were jostled a lot by the wait staff. Also every time the food lift came from the kitchen the bright light was in my eyes. Having said that our waiter was really excellent. However the food portions were very small for the price and while mine was good (veal) i wasn't as wowed as I was by the short ribs I had the first time. Wine was excellent but list was very expensive. I would go back but not on Friday night.
Amazing Sunday Roast
Eat to your heart's content. Great food and service to match.
Great food and very attentive service. A tad expensive but worth it for special occasions etc.
Lives up to all expectations.
When you book a table at Harwood Arms, it is probably not a coincidence and you've seen earlier reviews. You are looking for fantastic upmarket British food in an unpretentious environment. Why else would you end up in this part of Fulham? Harwood Arms lives up to all the expectations and we've spent a wonderful Saturday lunch here - with excellent wines to match. Don't expect anything resembling a pub though, this gastropub is really 95% restaurant, clinging on to dear life to maintain that final 5% of pub, resulting in a few locals being confident enough to claim the two square meters near the beer pumps. Nevertheless, when we were there we could not fault the atmosphere - so the balance obviously works. We will be back for more.
Lunch at Harwood Arms
The food was a typically British selection and we weren't disappointed...well put together and well presented. The chef has a keen eye for presentation and the combination of flavours worked really well. I would definitely recommend The Harwood Arms, however, the dishes were a little overpriced.
Best recomendation I got for London
Great service and ambiance, the meal we had was extraordinary. We had a brand new season menu with a selection of dishes that no other restaurant serves, in the end even though it is an expensive restaurant every pound worths it. I would be happy to return any day.
Dinner at The Harwood Arms
We came to London with the intent of spoiling ourselves and this was the first meal we had. We booked based on the involvement of Mike Robinson and it more than met our expectations. Partridge and ox tongue starters were wonderful. The partridge was as good as it gets. Veal and neck of pork were our mains and both were terrific. This is honest fare and generous but it doesn't hide the skill which went into making it. Pudding and The cheese plate was also very good. A smashing menu backed up be great food. Recommended.
What a fantastic find!!
Off the beaten track but a real find for people who love good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Their set lunch menu was a real delight with an unusual twist to the dishes. We would definitely recommend this venue to anyone wanting something a little different. Great value for money.
Brilliant as usual...
Went again on Friday night and pleased to say it was brilliant as usual.
Food is always excellent service
Food is always excellent service very good attentive. For me having people at the bar who are abit loud ruin it for those eating.
Food her is stunning, wine list really good range & service spot on!
Outstanding lunch - one of the best I ever had. Service was fabulous. I will definitely go back soon!
Best pub dining experience
Booked this place on a recommendation from a friend. It manages to maintain an authentic pub feel and ambience while serving great quality seasonal food. The service was good, the staff were friendly and relaxed.
Fantastic pub food
Took my parents here for dinner as part of their visit from Australia. Food was great with a good selection of typical pub and gamey food.
A lovely lunch
We enjoyed a very relaxed atmoshere, had excellent service and the quality of the food was superb. We had the 3 course "Special Board". Very good value for money.
We didn't try the wine - just enjoyed a couple of pints of real ale!
Harwood Arms Delivers
Have had lunch a number of times at the Harwood Arms and always enjoy it. Last experience was no exception, though a few things can always be improved, mainly to the environment, rather than the food (though my husband's cod dish was far too salty). The door doesn't shut properly so is quite cold in winter and the toilet roll holder in one of the women's loos is very poorly installed so the loo roll falls off at every opportunity. Little things, but they do make a difference. Our starters (butternut squash soup with squid; mushroom tart) were delicious. Mains pretty good (cod too salty and pheasant a little dry). Malt tart for dessert was gorgeous and wine superb. Not cheap but something special every once in a while.
Excellent meal with efficient, friendly service. The pheasant was fab. and the malt tart even better.
Excellent food on both the a la carte menu and lunchtime price fixe menu.
Great meal once again! Never
Great meal once again! Never fails to disappoint. High quality, service, etc.
I loved it. It is not a place I would go to all the time because I don't usually eat a lot of game. However, for special occasions, it is perfect!
Great place, the food is simple
Great place, the food is simple yet very good, service is flawless an the wine list is huge. The only downside is that bookings have to be made two weeks in advance as they are always full.
