Imaginative cuisine and super value
The pre-theatre Monday-Saturday deal with complimentary cocktail is worth travelling some way to. Exceptionally inventive and and tasty cuisine changing monthly to follow the seasons. Our summery selection included a salad of radically different tomatoes. The wine was superb, and the waiter knew all about it and gave expert help - not our experience in many restaurants. Unlike Cote, the complimentary water offered includes sparkling.
Review of Charlotte's Bistro
Great food as ever, even if service was not a good as in previous visits. The 'early bird' offer is great value for money and I would recommend to anyone!
Superb local, great value
My wife and I had a brilliant meal here - the food really was very, very good, the wine was lovely and overall, the experience was a lot of fun. The service was friendly and unhurried, and we'll certainly go back.
Great Sunday lunch
Visited a couple of weeks for Sunday lunch. Our group had a variety of dishes from starters, traditional Sunday Beef, other mains from the menu and desserts. All were excellent. Food really very good and service to match.
A great Sunday lunch
First time in this restaurant although often in sister ship in Ealing Common. Set menu incredible value with clearly quality ingredients and a deft touch from the kitchen. My daugher (a chef) loved her ham hock and apple salad followed by beautifully cooked duck leg. I opted for extremely fresh and generous portion of scottish potted salmon then superbly tender piece of braised beef with the usual roast trimmings as roast beef had just run out. Veg was excellent and quite the best mashed potato I've had in a long-time. Service is first-class from the bar to restaurant. Couldn't resist cocktails before and after eating. Best selection of gins I've ever come across. Highly recommend this Bistro.
My friend and I went to Charlotte's Bistro for an Early Bird Offer. The offer is available until 7pm, which is not too early. 3 courses and a drink for £27 is an amazing value, especially in Chiswick.
The food was excellent - though my duck leg was a little too salty but other than that everything was delicious ! The waiter was smiley and enthusiastic. Great service. Would definitely go back !
Enjoyable early dinner
Having been regular customers of Charlottes Place in Ealing we decided to give their sister restaurant a try. The food was of the same high standard and very attentive waiting staff. Would visit again!
A very happy birthday meal
The food was delicious, well presented and varied. Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm and relaxed.
Great Food & Value
Charlottes always has consistently great food and is exceptional value for money.
A great restaurant!
We have been a couple of times (with friends, with family members or just as a couple) and it is always great. The staff is very friendly & the food is excellent. Would definitely recommend!
3 course with aperitif offer
3 course with aperitif offer very good value - particularly nice to be able to choose our own aperitif!
Not many restaurants offer
Not many restaurants offer such a wealth of adventurous ideas, the promise of which are exceeded by the delivery. Wines are somewhat pricey but well described so that a good match with chosen food can be made. Good atmosphere and genuinely interested staff - the fixed price concept turned out to be great value. We're already looking forward to our next visit.
Great food, cocktails and service
Third time here and it gets better each time. Great menu and delicious cocktails
We were a party of 10 and a pain to cater for but the staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely eat there again.
Outstanding value for money
We've been there in Sep 2013 for a business lunch with work mates and had a fantastic experience: the food was absolutely stunning (the ham hock with apples starter is a must do) and the value for money is great (around 16 pounds for 2 dishes or 18 pounds for three dishes).
The restaurant is also very conveniently located in Chiswick as it is just a a few minutes' walk from Turnham Green tube staion.
Very Enjoyable Dinner
Went for dinner on a Sunday night, quite but still a nice atmosphere. I had heard good things of Charlotte's and it didn't disappoint. The food was really good, very tasty and a good selection to choose from.
Would definitely go again.
Great Sunday lunch
Two families, nine people and everyone enjoyed Sunday lunch at Charlotte's Bistro. The traditional British Sunday lunch was excellent - a great cut of beef, cooked perfectly pink and with all the trimmings (including a huge Yorkshire pudding).
The restaurant was quite full and was buzzing but the noise wasn't intrusive and staff were very friendly and efficient.
We had a couple of bottles of wine so the meal wasn't cheap but was reasonable.
I would recommend.
Great for Sunday Lunch
Went on a deal but it didnt matter for the deal they have is for everyone who enter anyway. Was a very good sunday lunch.
A very good meal with very
A very good meal with very friendly but not intrusive service. Good value and a good atmosphere.
Tasty food & quiet table
The food was great, the service very attentive and we even managed to secure a quiet table on a Friday night. The only surprising part was that there were very few vegetarian options.
Excellent food and very atmospheric
Lovely bistro, with excellent food - couldnt flault all three courses and a very nice atmosphere. Very attentive service (if not a litte trying to turn you around on the special menu - which they do advertise so is fair enough) Wine selection a little limited on the cheaper scale.
Special is good value (minus the wine)
Would defiintley recommend
I'm a regular here, the food is always imaginative and beautifully presented
The staff are friendly with just the amount of attention
Would be nice if they changed the menu more frequently- it seems to be that only one or two items change in a month
Another good thing is that at lunchtime, there are very few mummies and babies, which blights other places in Chiswick
Great place for food and drinks
We have always enjoyed our meals here. The seafood dishes are always good. The deserts are always worth having too.
We really enjoyed the food here. Limited vegetarian options though
Good food and atmosphere
We had the early diner offer, the good was really good and the restaurant was lively but still good for groups. The waiters were knowledgeable about the food and wine, but we were originally given the wrong menus and the promised birthday candle for my boyfriend didn't arrive. We had a few issues with the bill but all we're sorted quickly.
Minor surprise on arriving at 12.20 to be told they were not opening until 12.30 (staff meeting - apparently not discussing a strike but a new menu) - however once admitted this was a pleasant experience, with relaxed atmosphere and cheery Antipodean waitress. Lady guest on some frightful diet managed two courses without difficulty, including starter which they willingly massaged slightly to her spec. Food interesting without being twee, good price/quality ratio.
Very friendly and welcoming
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Staff really knew the menu and were able to offer suggestions.
Great Gin lovely food
Great restaurant with a wonderful gin selection. We had their early bird deal and everyone really enjoyed their food. We will be going back there soon!
First class apart from noise level
Food and service excellent - food much better than I expected - except they had run out of red meat by my booking time of 8.00pm, which suggests serious lack of planning in the kitchen. I had rabbit leg in mustard sauce, which turned out to be a great choice. The starter of smoked haddock with capers was also spot on.
Very good wine list, and not too demanding on the pocket.
Noisy, difficult to carry on a conversation with my companion - the only downer.
Great food & service!
Fantastic food and prompt, polite & attentive service. A really lovely evening. Also pretty good value (£30 for 3 courses on a Friday night). The lighting was a bit dim, so perhaps more appropriate for an intimate dinner for two...!
Went for lunch on saturday and whole group thought the food was excellent!
Worth the cab ride from Putney!
Great atmosphere, food a delight, especially the bakewell tart! Would love to go back to just sit in the bar and sample more cocktails!
What great little restaurant!
What great little restaurant! ALL the food ... and even the wine... was absolutely delicious and though not cheap, it was worth every penny! Top with excellent and very friendly service, both my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it and it completely exceeded all our expectations! I have been recommending Charlotte's Bistro to everyone and anyone that I have spoken to since!
will try again
This was a great meal - food was delicious off the fixed menu, service was good and dessert was amazing. Zero complaints!
All good at Charlotte's
I had never been to Charlotte's before but booked as a friend was staying close by while in London.
Lovely bar area for pre-dinner drinks. Service was very good. Good choices on the menu. Food was good. We chose 3 courses for £26.95 (I think) Both of us enjoyed what we had. The downside of the cheaper menu was that you got the table for 105 mins (hour and 3/4) which we went over and they needed to seat diners that were booked in after us.
They politely moved us to another table for us to finish our catch-up.
There was noting not to like about this place.
As a treat for the in-laws coming to town it was a fantastic choice. The food was superb, the service attentive without being intrusive and we weren't hurried or hassled despite being on the early evening deal (which was indeed very good value). Highly recommended.
Been there a few times before. The food is always good and the staff are very enthusiastic to provide good service.
Value for money too especially if you can get there to catch early bird offer.
I had hake for the main and my friend lamb. I found both of them a bit too salty and had to drink a lot of water. If you have any health issue with regard to sodium intake, you might want to ask them to be easy on salt....
I've been going to charlottes for a while now and they never let me down. Great staff, excellent food and the yummiest cocktails in west London.
I love the intimacy of the space and the decor which makes one feel like they've discovered a great place new York style.
Great neighbourhood eaterie
This brasserie located on Turnham Green is a great local to go for an after work G and T (they have a very good selection of gins) and/or a meal. We have been a few times and usually have a drink at the bar then go into the restaurant. Service has been great each time - at the bar and in the restaurant.
The staff were great and recommended an excellent gin. The atmosphere was just right, with numerous diners but not so many that the background noise was intrusive. The food was timely and tasty. The only slight downside was that there was quite a lot of fat on the beef. The bakewell and salted caramel cream was delicious. We would go again.
Nice 2 & 3 course set menu,
Nice 2 & 3 course set menu, food interesting and nice to see some more unusual ingredient. Service very attentive and staff knowledgeable about what's on the menu. It's my third visit or so to Charlotte's and I will be returning again very soon to sample the evening menu!
Only 1 minor complaint - ceiling fans on in November so restaurant a little chilly!
Excellent evening all round
Used the Bistro's Early Bird menu on a Monday evening. The whole experience from food, service and ambience was perfect. In addition to having great food, the three of us learnt a lot about gin as every Monday evening there is a Gin School in the bar. Would highly recommend.
Great food and service. Not for families. Only criticism is that it is pricey. £200 for 3 people
Chiswick foodie tries Charlotte's
Wonderful food, good service and I will be going back.
Charlotte's is a lovely place
Charlotte's is a lovely place to go, the menu offers great value for the quality of food you get and the atmosphere in there is always buzzing. The puddings are always amazing!! so add to that some tasty cocktails - perfect night out!
The early dinner 3 course
The early dinner 3 course menu plus a cocktail is excellent value and the food delicious - would highly recommend
Good value and good food if
Good value and good food if you use the Toptable discount
My partner and I had tickets booked at the nearby Tabard Theatre (-- excellent play, Dogstar, by the way --) and wanted somewhere close by to eat. Checking on the internet, Charlotte's Bistro looked only a short walk away so we decided to try it. Good decision! The food was excellent -- well above average -- and the staff friendly, efficient and helpful. An excellent venue which I would definitely use again.
Charlotte's is my local restaurant
Charlotte's is my local restaurant and I love it. It is always reliable - perfect for a treat. I am not usually a fan of cocktails, but theirs are excellent and, like the menus, reflect the seasons. The leek soup had a depth of flavour that made it ideal for a cold evening, as was the slow-cooked shoulder of lamb with borlotti beans and anchovies, My companion loved his fried potato dumpling and roast squash puree, but was too full for a pudding. I enjoyed a deliciously light pear sorbet with a crumb crust.
Warm welcome, good food, great wine
Speak to Ted in the little bar and he'll tell you all he knows about the wine he serves you. Then you'll be whisked upstairs, drinks in hand, and shown to your table in the warm, light, airy restaurant. We chose a smoked salmon starter and a classic, no nonsense Sunday roast dinner - a slab of pink roast beef atop a pile of assorted vegetables, crowned with the biggest Yorkshire pudding we'd seen South of Watford. The kale was incredibly salty, but apart from that it was an excellent meal. And the lovely waiter did offer to bring some more, unsalted. We couldn't resist sampling one of the delicious deserts too. We'll be back!
