Good ambience: friendly efficient staff: great menu with interesting dishes, well sourced and by no means run of the mill. Well cooked and ample portions.
Lovely food! Better than last time
We were 3 ladies for dinner. Food was all excellent however we found the service sloppy. We were not offered bread etc until after the starter left the table. We had to wait 40 mins just to order desserts. Saying this they were busy clearing up as we were the last table there :-)
Very flavour-full delicious food. Good service with really lovely staff. We will be back.
Excellent food and service
My wife booked us a table here for my birthday dinner.
Prior to our arrival she arranged that she will bring two cupcakes as my birthday cake, which she handed over to them without me even noticing on our arrival. After our meal they presented this to us with the candles lit and "Happy Birthday" painted in chocolate on a big plate - I thought that was very well done.
We did the 2 course dinner. There's not a huge selection but certainly enough to choose from, and the food was delicious. They also served some freshly baked bread, 3 different kinds, which was delicious. There was also another small snack served before our starters arrived. The food is presented very very well and tastes delicious. I can certainly recommend it!
If you have to go to Croydon......
.....you may as well have a nice lunch while you're there. £26 for three courses is an absolute bargain when the food is this good. I can recommend the Gooseberry Soufflé with Elderflower IceCream - delicious!
As good as ever, always look
As good as ever, always look forward to dinner here and never disappointed
A real gem - we had dinner
A real gem - we had dinner there, and it was sublime. We opted for the tasting menu and the food was simply perfection on the plate - presentation; quality of produce; flavours - everything was right up there with the best. South Croydon might not be the obvious place to look for this level of dining, but you very quickly forget the location. The ambience, the attentive and extremely knowledgeable staff rounded off a great evening of food.
Albert's Table looks drab in the outer reaches of London's suburbs (South Croydon), but the interior is calm and professional and the food and wine are superb. The crab tart and 'woodpigeon Wellington' made excellent starters, the beef and pork dishes were perfectly cooked and the deserts were unusual and excellent. We tried a range of interesting wines by the glass, served at the right temperatures and very good value. Its quiet at lunchtime on Saturday but busy in the evenings. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service as usual. Certainly the best restaurant in or around Croydon.
Excellent as always
Food was superb, as it always is here. Service is also exceptional. Wine I feel is a bit over priced and all round an excellent evening.
Croydon's hot table
Albert's a great place in Croydon with slightly over pretentious tones. Food was good and service very friendly and not too much to pressure you into a tasting menu which looke great but too overpriced for Croydon. Definitely a great place for fine dining in Croydon. The pigeon started was unexpected and tasted wonderful. The cheese selection was a bit if a let down but then Albert's could always choose a better selection to offer their patrons. Would definitely return for another local gourmet experience in a few months.
We went there to celebrate my son's birthday last Saturday. The starters were all good. I had the Cornish mackerel and saffron soup with cod. The home baked breads were delicious We all had the slow cooked old spot pork for mains. This was fine but a bit dry. I could have done with more sauce. Desserts were also good. I had the gooseberry soufflé- others had the chocolate dessert and the strawberry champagne jelly dessert and they all enjoyed them. The white wine we ordered was not cold enough but they exchanged the bottle when we told them. The service was good too.
We've been to Michelin starred restaurants which weren't nearly as good. Fine dining, but it's the quality of the food which is outstanding.
An excellent Sunday lunch
An excellent Sunday lunch at Albert's table. The roast beef in particular was outstanding.
Fine food and attentive service
We eat here several times each year, and it is one of Croydon's good restaurants. A quiet Tuesday evening in August. The starters of crab tart and vegetarian tart were quite rich. The calves liver was cooked to perfection, as was the poached trout. The Argentine Torrentes white wine had an interesting flavour which I would re-order. Enjoyed talking my elementary Polish to the two waitresses. Not a cheap evening.
Superb tasting menu
Haven't been to Alberts Table for a few months, but won't be leaving it that long again!
Had an excellent meal from start to finish. 5 of us on the tasting menu with accompanying wines.
Every course was lovely, and the wines were excellent too.
Everything was lovely
We took a friend out for her birthday and had a lovely evening. The food was delicious, the service quick, friendly and unobtrusive and the wine list had some affordable options which were perfectly nice. All in all, very pleased!
Croydon is not a renowned hub of dining but I would recommend Albert's Table to everyone. The food is fantastic (between us we had Mushroom bisque and mackerel for starter, beef and lamb cooked two ways for main, and shared a raspberry souffle) and the service very pleasant. Only criticism was that the lighting was quite bright and I think a bit lower would have made it nicer.
Alberts Table caters for a lot of people and their menus look interesting whether you went for the 2 course, 3 course or tasting menu. I only managed the two course while sharing a very good bottle oodles wine with my partner. The prices were a tad expensive coming to just over £80 for 2 people, but the food and staff made it so you really didn't mind paying the bill.
Our first visit to Albert's
Our first visit to Albert's Table, following recommendation from our sons. We were not disappointed at all, and the service and food were excellent. We will be back without a doubt, and look forward to bringing friends and family with us!
Albert's Table - Croydon's finest
Albert's Table serves the finest produce, beautifully cooked and presented.
Another outstanding meal at Albert's Table. The staff are always friendly and attentive, and the food never fails to be anything but delicious.
Best restaurant in Croydon
We've been to Alberts Table about half a dozen times. The food is quite literally some of the best I have ever tasted. Decor and service are first rate. This is achieved at prices are which are only slightly above average for Croydon, and remarkably cheap compared with fine dining restaurants elsewhere. It is really one of the finest eateries I have ever been to.
Only quibble was no quails eggs for the mackerel starter. Everything else was first rate.
A delightful business lunch
I discovered Albert's via that other website, Trip A. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, but over the next 45 minutes became considerably busier. Reviews indicated that this is one of the best restaurant's in the area and both my business client and I felt we had enjoyed a good meal. The bread rolls were small but pure and we both had Sea Bass with roasted tomato sauce, gnocchi, purple broccoli, peas and broad beans. If there was one area of improvement available, then it was dessert - I selected the cheesecake with caramelised pear upside down cake and pear mousse (at least I think that's what was on the menu, but to be honest it wasn't my thing). Would I recommend Albert's to you - a hearty yes and I will definitely return!
Food was outstanding with very attentive service. Good money for the quality. A restaurant best saved for special occasions.
Albert's Table never disappoints!
Albert's Table never disappoints! Took a friend to Albert's Table for dinner, as I kept saying how good it is. The food was once again, very good, along with the service. Needless to say, my friend was impressed.
Amazing Food Again
This has now become our go-to restaurant when we take people out for dinner. You can feel their confusion when they hear 'Croydon' but once they walk in, they are instantly charmed by the decor and then even more so by the menu. Tinges of British food 'like your nan made' mixed with fine dining, the level of which you only wheel out for special occasions or when work are paying, punctuate the well-stocked & -priced menu. The wine list is pretty awesome and shockingly good value. If you don't have the raspberry souffle then you are very foolish indeed. Several hours later leaving your central London fine dining experience full and very satisfied, you find yourself back on the streets of Croydon, almost confused. I'm very glad I live nearby.
Priced well for high quality.
Outstanding quality food at acceptable for the area pricing.
Surprising find in Croydon
Lovely local restuarant with food fit for the serious foodies amongst us. Service was friendy and efficient. Food was good we found ourselves with some difficult decisions to make as the menu is packed with things we wanted to eat. Portions are on the large side. Some things work better than others but we didn't have a bad plate. Wine list is small and well chosen. They dealt really well with a food allergy, leaving me with almost all of the menu to choose from (that doesn't happen very often). Definately a place to try and we will be back.
Selected Albert's Tables after reading online reviews thoroughly - a splendid choice!
Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Flavours were crisp and clear, food combinations were well judged, presentation was excellent and portion size was quite
Mains of sea bream and lamb two ways were fully appreciated. Stunning raspberry souffle edged out a jersey curd cheesecake as the better suite.
Follow us to Albert's Table and enjoy!
Best restaurant in Croydon
Easily the best restaurant in Croydon. A well balanced menu, tasty food properly cooked and beautifully presented. First class service. We will return.
We booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were really pleased with all aspects of our visit to Albert's Table. We will definitely go there again
Fine dining in Croydon
I've eaten in Albert's Table on several occasions and as always, on this occasion it didn't disappoint. I love the warm bread rolls - the walnut & raisin the best. The amuse bouche was delicious - small purple cauliflower florets & triply cheesy snackettes. For starters I had chicory salad with blue cheese, figs & pear slices which was delicious. My friend he the Dorset crab tart & she particularly liked the pastry. Then for main course I had the venison with separate venison pie. This was beautifully presented and delicious - cooked to perfection. My friend had the sweet corn fritters which is a good vegetarian min course option. Neither of us had room for dessert. The house wine was surprisingly good value at only £3.75 a glass.
very interesting menu, good
very interesting menu, good service and wine list. An enjoyable lunch.
Love Alberts Table so I wanted
Love Alberts Table so I wanted to write a note here to justify the poor ambience rating on this occassion. Not that it was the fault of the restaurant, but on this evening a family with a toddler had booked a table and the loud playing of videos on an ipad, running between tables and throwing cutlery around the floor tends to detract from the, otherwise, romantic ambience of the restaurant.
My wife and i have been to
My wife and i have been to Albert's Table on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed the experience and our last visit was no exception. The staff are very attentive and the food is on a par with much more expensive up town restaurants. The two and three course lunch menus are excellent with a large range of choices as well. Definitely recommend AT to anyone.
What a wonderful surprise! This restaurant ticks all the boxes. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch and would certainly put the restaurant on our list of places to eat. The food was well presented, tasty and good value. The service was very good too.
Well cooked fish dishes. Very busy
We ate, booking via TopTable, on a Thursday evening and pleasantly surprised how busy it was. The 3 courses for £28 meant it was good value. The atmosphere is rather formal and the 3 person serving team - new since our visit in august - took time to work together and to relax. I enjoyed all 3 dishes : duck liver parfait, sea bass, and raspberry souffle. Argentine Torrentos went well with this. A good evening. Note this is a restaurant adding 12.5% service which i always delete and tip instead in cash.
Excellent and innovative menu.
Excellent and innovative menu. A very enjoyable lunch as always.
Had a great birthday dinner
Had a great birthday dinner at Albert's table. The food (all of it!) was delicious. Can give no higher praise!
Deciding quite late in the evening where to go for dinner, heard good things about this restaurant and the menu looked superb. Yes it's in Croydon but don't let that put you off!!
The menu was seasonal and beautifully prepared, the Crab tart was sublime, light almost Souffle, we also opted for the Mackerel as a starter and was not disappointed. We both decided to go for the Game Wellington, fabulous, moist, crispy pastry with spiced red cabbage, the wine selection was small but very good.
Will sure to be back very soon.
The food was superb. The service
The food was superb. The service exceptional and friendly. Our children were made very welcome by all the staff and the prices were entirely reasonable.
The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared and presented and tasted excellent with good portion size. The menu has lots of typical British recipes with a slight twist.
I had been hinting to my husband for ages that I would like to try Albert's Table, so on our birthday I decided to treat my twin sister. It was a Tuesday and quiet with just a few tables. Both the food and the service where excellent and I did not realise that there was an offer of three course for the price of two. It is really convenient with the pay and display behind. Least impressive was the dessert but then it was effectively free. I would go again and recommend it. Really great starters, we tried each other's, one crab, one duck and the sea bass enjoyed by almost everyone eating.
A real gem
Looked after you so well, very attentive without being intrusive. Great small menu so everything is prepared to the highest standard. Food is well thought out, modern yet classical and delicious. All the little touches like generosity & quality with bread rolls & butter and little surprise tasters and truffles throughout the meal really make this a truly satisfying experience. It isn't cheap, but on a special occasion you don't feel like you've over paid.
The only negative is perhaps the candles on the tables and walls are plastic fakes which look cheap and tacky, why not have real ones? Decor and art in general I found uninspiring, but this really is a minor thing with no major effect in the dining experience which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Fine Dining in South Croydon . . . . . simple as that !
A warm atmosphere, good service with knowledgable staff. Food exceded expectations. Meat in main dishes cooked to perfection. A delicious choice of breads to accompany. Loved it and would thoroughly recommend.
Lunch for 2
Food excellent. I had the Plaice which was delicious, my husband had the rabbit which he said was ok but a little tasteless but he had never had rabbit before so he assumed it was the way it should be. Starter, bread and banana soufflé were 5 star. Great service. Not cheap though as they automatically put 12.5% per cent onto bill for service. I think this should be optional and not put on your bill automatically. 3 course lunch with bottle of wine and service £86.00!!
Went with a friend had the set lunch. Only small grip I thought that two glasses of Kir Royal at £17.00 was a bit excessive.
