As usual we had a perfect diner. We enjoyed a delightfull meal with a great view. The service was perfect.
Good meal. I normally go here for breakfasts but dinner is equally good. Lots of hearty meat dishes on offer. A little pricey but, when feeling flush, I'd go again.
Took friends for breakfast
Took friends for breakfast while staying in London for a weekend.
Greeting and service was first class and staff were very attentive. Food also of a high standard and quality.
Very easy to book, quick and efficient service. Portion size is very good, spoilt for choice on sides, you want to try them all but the mains are such a good size you wouldn't have room for dessert which would be a waste..!
After dining at a number of places in London recently and often being disappointed, I was relieved to eat here where:
Nothing is a problem
Service is just right
Food is excellent.
I often begrudge the automatic addition of a service charge to meals as I like to make my own mi d up about these things, but this time ... no quibble whatsoever.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We had the. Sunday lunch special
We had the. Sunday lunch special menu which was very nice and god value. Some great English wines on offer too.
Excellent as always!
Another wonderful meal at my favourite restaurant! Celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary with family on Sunday for lunch. Service was impeccable and the food was as always was fab.Would highly recommend the scotch egg it was divine. Cannot wait to go back in three weeks time for dinner!
Great food, service and location. Would definatley go back
Quality food, beautiful building
Attention to detail, great food and service and delightful surroundings. Not cheap, but great place for a special occasion.
fabulous food, great service,
fabulous food, great service, not taken with the two sittings at lunch but adequate time to eat. Delicious cocktail menu
Good setting, good food!
Great setting for a meal with friends or business with an outstanding view over the market. Health portions and friendly staff made the dining experience a great pleasure.
Great success celebrating a special birthday - scrumptious food and plenty of it. Spot on
I went to Roast having worked up a descent appetite. The ambiance was relaxed and friendly with attentive but not overbearing staff. The food was delicious and I left well satisfied as did my fellow diner. If I had used the restrooms
they probably would have been great I was happy to see they have baby changing facilities.
We ate at Roast on Saturday mid-morning and came away not needing to eat for the entire day! The Full English was huge and very good indeed.
We visited after a very touristy walk in East London, welcome was warm, ambience was welcoming, service was discreet and satisfactory, food was fabbie (although the special had sold out at 9.30pm), nothing was rushed and our vegetarian diners was spoilt for choice - Happy Diners :-)
Great restaurant, incredible food and very friendly staff. Plenty of choice on the menu and great wine selection.
Restaurant was a little noisy but expected for a Saturday night dinner booking - incredible setting in Borough Market.
Would highly recommend Roast to others.
Fantastic breakfast of real
Fantastic breakfast of real quality as always. Cinnamon eggy bread with bacon and syrup such a great option for my 12 year old daughter too
Went for breakfast - again. Same great service and food.
Nice but not refined
Nice atmosphere but food is heavy and not very refined
I WILL COMEBACK WHEN I AM RICH
I can not fault this restaurant with exception of the pricing. The service was outstanding, friendly and professional. The atmosphere was good, The food was served fast without delays and it was delicious. My friend and I had the belly pork, and we were in heaven specially with the cracking part. They have a good wine list so that topped our enjoyment.
The excitement faded out when the bill arrived. £85 for 2 main courses, some bread, some veggies and 2 glasses of wine.
Definitely not for the lovely working class pockets but perhaps for special occasions when you want to impress someone by splashing the cash and having a great meal time.
This was our first visit and was what we expected really. We had heard it was very good. The breakfast did not disappoint, having gone for the Full Borough and children went for the Half Borough. Ingredients and quality exceptional. All the staff were very friendly. We love the location and I think that's what makes the whole experience for us.
Sunday lunch for five peopel
Concerned it may be stuffy & pompous with a strict dress code, we couldn't have been more wrong!
Roast is friendly & relaxed but with impeccable service & friendly, easy-going staff who intelligently attend you your every need. A waiter is rarely more than a glance away but no so close you feel pestered.
The food is fabulous & plentiful, the atmosphere & ambiance excellent. Live jazz played during our Sunday lunch at the perfect volume.
Our meal for five including 3 bottles of wine was a little over £300 which, considering the location, the standard and the quality, is good value for money.
A fantastic setting and only 5 minutes' walk from London Bridge station, I would go back in a flash & will highly recommend it to my friends.
Great place for Sunday lunch, food and service was good. Only problem was getting a table, required booking well in advance of the day you want
Sunday lunch at Roast was
Sunday lunch at Roast was very good, great fresh food cooked to perfection, good service & lovely wines all sourced from local suppliers. Cant fault the food or service but the noise in the restaurant with a live singer/guitar playing was just too much with the restaurant being full we had to shout to hear each other so could really do without the live music but otherwise always can guarantee a good meal at Roast.
Another delicious meal at
Another delicious meal at roast on Monday evening. I will certainly be going back...
First experience at Roast
Introduced to Roast via colleague- well I was so impressed- waiting at the bar I was please to see a great selection of Whiskys including Macallan, a mass option on other quality spirits and locally brewed beers. The starter was well presented and well cooked ( scallops -in shell with black pudding), the main was succulent and tender Lamb with the most flavoursome 'mums mint sauce' which was not your average puree of mint and vinegar it had chopped shallots etc- very nice touch.
All in all a great experience at Roast- well recommended!
Tasty. Atmosphere bright and airy. Lunch busy with business people. Staff friendly.
Food was amazing
Pork belly, roast lamb, beautifully smoky steak and a Yorkshire bird that I can't type here because the language filters don't allow it (remove the spatch from spatchcock and that is the Yorkshire bird that I mean) were all excellent. Staff were attentive and quick, assistance with picking a bottle of wine to suit six picky drinkers was also appreciated. It's not cheap, but it's well worth it.
Went for a late lunch on Saturday, the restaurant was full, great food, excellent service and a very friendly waiter. Would definitely recommend.
Nice venue, good food, great servic
Both food and drink are not cheap, but it's a lovely fresh venue, nice ambiance, beautifully cooked food and a great place to catch up with friends
An excellent breakfast, backed
An excellent breakfast, backed up by excellent service (again !). This has to be one of the best value and best located breakfasts in central London !
Lovely weekend breakfast
Came here for breakfast after hearing really great things about it (and also, it made TimeOut's best breakfasts in London list). Roast has a lovely ambience about it, right above Borough Markets, and the food is all locally sourced (I wouldn't have expected anything else, considering the location). We both had the Full Borough breakfast which was delicious, and they have a good tea selection as well.
It does get quite noisy though and some of the tables are very close together, so whilst you probably wouldn't go for an intimate setting, you could certainly have a party/group booking there.
My friends and I had a special
My friends and I had a special weekend for our joint 40th birthdays and ate at Roast, it was amazing, the food was so well cooked, it had great falvours, it was a decent portion, there was a good menu choice and the staff were excellant... All in all we had a superb evening and would go back again and again and again if we lived nearby... Oh and fantastic cocktails available...
We chose to go to Roast for a birthday lunch and were not disappointed. Our request for a good table was acknowledged and we were delighted to be seated at the window so we could overlook the busy market below.
Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. We chose the fixed price menu which we felt was very good value. The food was delicious as was the English wine.
The atmosphere was lively and relaxing and we look forward to returning.
The Sunday Lunch is fantastic
The Sunday Lunch is fantastic value for such top quality food. Perhaps not surprisingly their Roast is fantastic! Such a lovely relaxed atmosphere on the Sunday too. Highly recommend although you'll need a big sleep afterwards ;)
Party of five for a birthday lunch, service was outstanding with our every need met. The food delicious. Set price for 3 course menu on Sunday, don't let that put you off if you think it sounds a bit pricey. It does include side dishes and trimmings with choice of main. Delicious and well worth every pound. Having dined at Roast before I was not disappointed at all the second time around.
The starter cocktail was perfection!
Sunday Lunch with Family
My girlfriends family came over from France to help us move into our new flat! So on Sunday I booked us into Roast for lunch. The restaurant was really busy as always but the staff were very attentive as always and accommodated us even though we were late for our booking. We went to see some of the London tourist attractions!
We had the 3 courses for £35 "deal"!
The starters were great - I had the scotch egg with haggis and it was delicious! For mains we had a burger, plaice, roast beef (£3 supplement) and my girlfriend had roast chicken (which was the actually half a chicken)! She felt a bit overwhelmed but the staff removed half of it and let us take it home!!
Great experience, one of the great London restaurants and worth going!!
Special Birthday meal
I booked this restaurant through Toptable for a surprise meal for my husbands 60th birthday. It is a restaurant we had always said we would like to try and we were not disappointed.
As soon as we arrived the staff were attentive and had put us on a table near the window as requested.
The food was excellent and they surprised my husband with a celebratory dessert with Happy birthday on it. Very nice touch.
I would like to try the restaurant in the evening as I would think the ambiance would be very nice.
All in all would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Relaxed and friendly service
With exceptional food! If you love food, beautifully cooked in a really pleasant atmosphere and fantastic city views then I can highly recommend Roast.
Very good 2 hr table limit annoying
It's not cheap but ts worth the price. Great food some great English wines. Attentive but not overbearing service. However they have an annoying two hour limit on any table which can be frustrating if you are having a relaxing dinner enjoying the company of business colleagues only to be told you must vacate the table!
Went there once, came back
Went there once, came back again, will go again, job done!
Outstanding food :)
Divine food. I had the spelt to start which blew me away and the lamb shoulder was really the best I've had anywhere. My partner had the excellent croquettes and the steak and kidney pudding. A food lovers cornucopia. Extensive wine list and knowledgeable somelier.
Only downside - two of the other customers who were talking intrusively loudly and generally thought that they were far funnier than they were - even in the judgement of the people on their own tables. Nothing that the restaurant could have done about that of course and now Roast is well known in London it's just a challenge of success, but a bit irritating all the same.
Really lovely food - though quite pricey. Portions were decent - there are two prices for both meals, with the higher price double the quantity (small Eggs Benedict - 1 egg on a muffin, large - 2 eggs on 2 muffins). I would recommend the larger one of the egg dishes if you are planning on the meal keeping you satisfied til dinner.
Bloody Marys were great. Atmosphere was buzzing without being too loud - and quite casual (fine for families with childen, no need to dress up particularly).
Service was a little slow at times, though not when they wanted to get rid of us (brought the bill without asking when we had only been there an hour!)
Fantastic food and service.
Fantastic food and service. I want to go back as soon as I can
Staff were very polite and
Staff were very polite and helpful, the food was really good some of the best pork belly I have had.
Roast comes through again
We celebrated our American Thanksgiving at Roast again this year, and the second time around was just as good as the first. Seated immediately upon arrival, we enjoyed impeccable service throughout the evening. Great food, drink, and views. We'll be back next year.
Tables too close together; they're in a rush - they want the table for the next customer.
Most Amazing! From the fab
Most Amazing! From the fab & friendly greeting to the service, Roast was warm and inviting. The Christmas' Cocktails also went down a treat and were a great start to a fabulous meal. The Scotch eggs are unlike you're ever going to taste anywhere in the world and that was just the starter. Loved it!
Great atmosphere, food and service
Having booked two months in advance for a friends birthday, we were all looking forward to eating here. We were seated promptly, it had a festive feel and we were seated overlooking the market road at the top. The food was amazing, the service unrushed but efficient. All agreed it was a place to definitely return to. Great first experience and friendly staff. Thank you Roast, my friend enjoyed his birthday treat.
I've eaten at Roast on several occasions in the early evening. Food and service has always been good. It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.
