You couldn't ask for more...
There isn't a vast number of high quality pubs near Victoria Station that can offer excellent food, great service, good atmosphere with elegant but cosy decor but Thomas Cubitt seems to tick all the boxes. Definitely worth a visit if in the area - the dining room upstairs is lovely for a more formal experience where the food was stunning but can feel a little on expensive side for a pub. My friend and I had two courses with two glasses of house wine each that came to £90. You can opt for a gastropub style menu on the ground floor but they don't normally take reservations. This is also an ideal place for private dining as the rooms upstairs are lovely.
Will go back
This was my second visit and proved to live up to my memory of not better. Certailnly would recommend
Great Sunday lunch- first
Great Sunday lunch- first visit, but we will be back
My favorite pub
I lived in London for 10 years until recently. When I return now, I always try to make it back to the Thomas Cubitt for the charming atmosphere, great food and especially terrific service. The pub on the ground floor has a clean, modern design but with traditional elements. The upstairs restaurant is an absolute treasure, both for intimate dining and for group get-togethers. I will be going back for many years to come.
Great food, but beware of parties
We have always had excellent food here, and the service is also reliably smooth and friendly, but on this particular occasion, the slickness of the operation was hampered slightly by the presence of a large Christmas party in a neighbouring room. The noise was not a problem, but we were left waiting a long time before the starters arrived - by which time we had finished the wine we had specifically ordered to go with those starters. The waitress did apologise, and the food was as excellent as ever.
gorgeous christmas atmosphere
Thomas Cubitt has joined our list of Christmas treats and has become a new tradition of us, after going to carol concerts. Superb food, friendly and unfussy service, excellent food, elegant and cosy surroundings. We're very fond of it.
Great bar on the ground floor
Great bar on the ground floor to meet, and then fabulous service from both the waiter and reception. The food was really good and the St Emillion flowed at a reasonable price.
Amazing experience start to finish
Absolutely top notch. This was the 2nd Cubitt restaurant that I've visited and it did not disappoint. The service and food were fantastic. Thomas Cubitt seems to be more fancy than say The Orange, but not in a pretentious way. The atmosphere was still very comfy and welcoming. I brought 2 friends from back home to this place and they agreed that it was one of their favorite dining experiences in the recent past.
The tables are nicely separated, the atmosphere is cozy and the food / waiter service very good
Very stylish but relaxed neighbourhood restaurant with very good food and friendly service at reasonable prices.
Great service and food
Had dinner with a friend and food was very nice. The service is also second to none. A little on the expensive side in comparison but I will go there again.
Great ambiance and food
The 1st floor dining is truly special, modern but traditional and appealing equally to men and women. A modern pub. The food and service are also strong. I had oysters followed by a pastry-wrapped venison that was delightful as a main. The wine list was also broad. I'd recommend diner there followed by drinks in the downstairs pub. It is a gem.
2nd visit. And this time we went for the whole roast joint for the table- rib of beef. Looked amazing, other diners commented that they had food envy. Good size, tasted great and we were stuffed! Worth it as no washing up either! Thanks
I went there with a group of girlfriends and we thought the food was fantastic - especially the crab/pearl barley starter. I will definitely go again.
Another great meal
Of the 3 sister restaurants (Thomas Cubitt, Pantechnicon and The Orange), this is by far my favourite. The food is well portioned, the ambiance is great and the menu is delicious. The ground floor tends to get quite noisy so I always try to make reservations for the first floor.
Been here before many times but the quality of the food has improved significantly recently.
Great food in good size portions. The service was friendly and the staff clearly get on and have fun at work which feeds into a good atmosphere. The only slight down side is the proximity of the tables. It's a little like sitting on your neighbours knee in parts. Downstairs was very busy so it was very worth booking upstairs in advance.
Good friendly place for a
Good friendly place for a casual dinner.
Lovely sitting outside for lunch weather allowing.
Staff are friendly and efficient.
Perfect for romantic dining.
Lovely food, great ambience and friendly service. My date was very impressed.
Upstairs at Thomas Cubitt
Downstairs is always very packed (and although it looks like a pub, it's really a less expensive restaurant - so be warned if you want a pre or post-meal pub-style drink), but upstairs is a perfect place for a business lunch. It's not too stuffy, but smart enough to make most people feel that they are being taken seriously. Portions are the right size for a business lunch (smallish) and nicely presented. Interesting dishes without trying too hard. Service is very good.
The Thomas Cubitt is a great little gastropub in Knightsbridge/Belgravia. It is very welcoming and lively. We dined in the first floor restaurant which was rather more tame conservative than the rest of the venue. Very elegant setting and great, attentive service. The food was delicious and the wine selection was superb. Would dine here again.
Third visit to the restaurant,
Third visit to the restaurant, each rated as an enjoyable occasion. Just the right combination of service, food quality, and service. Well done!

I came to celebrate a happy event ( graduation). The food was outstanding and nicely presented. Excellent and attentive service. I will certainly book again here for the next occasion.
it is a very good place.
it is a very good place.
The food has a high quality and the service is perfect.
Good quality food in Belgravia
Ground floor room is always very busy. I prefer to book on TopTable the first floor room as it is quieter and more romantic and cosy. Typical British dining room with elements. Service always pretty good despite the fact that the place is always busy. Food is good. Wine list to match any wallet. Nice to meet friends, family, dinner a deux or even business partners.
A very good place to have a fantástic dinner. Food is awesome!
A Quiet Hideaway
My wife and I plus a guest visiting from Canada, had a delightful evening at the Thomas Cubitt. The menu is good imaginative English and European cuisine, pleasantly served in plain but elegant surroundings. The winning characteristic is how the restaurant is divided into small rooms, which makes for an intimate and relaxing experience.
Thomas Cubitt's hidden gem
Upstairs from the bustling, noisy, busy bar on Elizabeth St, SW1 is an oasis of calm, white table cloths, great food and excellent, friendly service. Smart but casual and affordable - well worth a visit!
Lunch 7th May
Had a nostalgic lunch with 3 former colleagues who had not seen each other for many years (all in our 60s and 70s). Much to catch up on so, naturally, it went on for hours. The staff were discreet but attentive. No pressure at all. Thank you. Oh, and the food was good too. The gastro pub downstairs would have been far too busy and noisy for us - upstairs was excellent.
Spent a very enjoyable lunch
Spent a very enjoyable lunch with my young son. By booking you are allocated a table on the first floor - the ground floor being the main bar which is on a first come first seated basis. As we eat early upstairs quiet but bar busy - not a problem for us. Comforatble and clean surroundings. Menu and wine list excellent value considering you are heart of Belgravia. Recommend the fish and chips and house Sauvignon Blanc. Food was well cooked, presented and came timely. Service was excellent very attentive and unfussy. Understand at weekend same menu upstairs and in bar but you are made aware of this at time of booking but given quality of food shoudl not be a problem.
F A B U L O U S
First time, great experience sitting out side with a nice glass of wine prior to dinner. Meal hit all expectations and service was great. Small room upstairs set for romantic dinning, but the main room was stylish and great decor. Meal - starter and lamb a great combination. Topped off with desert and a very nice cup of coffee to set off a great experience.
Will return in June and do it all over again. Cheers to all staff and chef's./ Cheers
I was very pleased that the
I was very pleased that the restaurant provided a lovely round table I requested.
Great place for dinner
Would have been a higher score for service if we were allowed to pour our own wine when we were ready. That said was a great meal, friendly place, good location near Victoria.
Not my first visit to Thomas
Not my first visit to Thomas Cubitt. Good food and attentive service.
Gluten free is never a problem
The food here is always very good, I have to have a gluten free diet and this is never a problem.
I recommend the upstairs dining room for a quiet and relaxing meal.
5 of us met for lunch to celebrate a 70th birthday and we dined in the dining room upstairs. The menu was varied and well cooked and the service excellent. Not cheap but an excellent venue for a birthday meal.
The food was very good, and
The food was very good, and the service friendly, however the room was unbearably noisy although there are only 7 or 8 tables in all. It was almost impossible to hold a conversation.
My wife and I had a very good meal but the large noisy party in the same room detracted from our experience. Hopefully, the restaurant will find a compromise between servicing an office party for a large group and the diners in the same small eating area upstairs.
Nice pub with a cosy dining
Nice pub with a cosy dining room upstairs - we visited for a quick dinner before going to the theatre, and we were the only diners there - but the service was good - and quick fortunately, as we'd left time a little tight before the show.
Always great food, service
Always great food, service and experience when visiting Thomas Cubitt.
Thomas Cubitt food
The food at the Thamas Cubitt restaurant is simply fantastic. I would highly recommend you try this restaurant. Very good for all occasions.
Excellent dinner with friends
Solid menu, friendly and quick service. Varied wine list. Pork belly was very good indeed.
The duck was amazing and my friend had the fish which also scored top marks.
My cheesecake dessert was a little on the bland side though. It sounded amazing but unfortunately was disappointing.
I wanted to introduce a foreign friend to British food and was recommended Thomas Cubbit. It more than served its purpose - outstanding British food in a wonderful environment.
great evening meal
Been a few times now and the menu does vary from each visit. Good wine list - the house Rioja is very good. The lamb with a crispy bit of lamb tounge is really good - don't be put off by the lambs tounge as it it is breaded and fried!! Good British menu with a twist.
Food was great. The customers
Food was great. The customers from Japan were fully satisfied. Thank you very much.
Friendly staff, good service, food was delicious , bill was reasonable. Would recommend
Good lunch venue
met 2 business colleagues for lunch. We had table d'hôte menu at £19.50 for 2 courses. The food was delicious but the portions were tiny. I am a regular user of the Cubitt espec for sunday lunch. When we have eaten lunch here a la carte the portions have always been of normal size. I guess if you do the table d'hôte you have to expect smaller portions for the cost? I didn't mind but my male colleagues were still hungry!!!! The food is always of excellent quality but I get annoyed at the cost of the sides. Maybe they should think about changing their pricing structure and including at least one portion of vegetables.
I took my client to the TC as an alternative to going into central London. We were not disappointed at all by the diversion. Great buzz downstairs for drinks and then a civilised table upstairs. Super food, good portions, absolutely delicious. Service was understated and rather excellent. For the quality of food and service we had the £100 per head was very well spent. We were the last to leave!
From Paris with love
Two friends, one from Paris and the other from Sussex, and myself had a wonderful reunion dinner at Thomas Cubitt.
The food was fantastic and the service professional without being stuffy. The scallops to start were done to perfection, my friends enjoyed British Castle Mey steaks and I had salmon.
The puddings were fantastic with a peanut brittle and ice cream sharing a plate with chocolate fondant!
The best things about the restaurant upstairs is that the rooms are quiet; you can actually have a conversation with your guests which is so unusual in London with wooden floors and plasterboard. Nothing flimsy about the Thomas Cubitt. It is fine dining in a properly appointed dining room.
