Curry with a view
Not the first time we have eaten at Mala, we are never disappointed, with the food or service.
The position of the restaurant is on the waterside of St Katherine's Dock so makes for a very pleasant
venue to meet friends and family for a curry. I don't believe top table has a deal with Mala to make it better value,
maybe I can suggest?
Great surroundings with the
Great surroundings with the dock and decent food. Good for entertaining if you want a curry away from the lane or commercial road.

Mala - A view to the Marina
Mala is an old favourite and always provides a good meal with excellent service.
The view over St. Katherine's Dock is very entertaining - try to seat by the window.
Ambiance is very pleasant and comfortable.
big bold flavors
go hungry - you'll need the room for all the big bold flavors. really delicious, but afraid maybe we over ordered. a really enjoyable traditional indian meal in a nice quiet location by st katherine's docks.

consistently good in a great location. Good place to take clients.
very good value lunch menu
very good value lunch menu which you have to ask for and service was slow to begin with despite being only 6 other diners being served. Nice location in Catherine Dock and very well presented.
Mala still tops
My friends and I have used Mala many times. I think it has the best Indian food I have had in this country and would use Mala in preference to well-known West end venues. The staff are attentive but not annoyingly so. They handle special menu-related requests very well. You will not be rushed. The restaurant is generally busy, even in winter. Booking for parties of more than 4 would be wise. The decor is not imposing and there are good views of St. Katherine Docks through the wall of windows on the ground floor. Secure coat check is available and the washroom facilities are kept sparklingly clean. Hard to know what more they could do to improve. However, this is not a cheap night out.
Thanks guys. I will be back.
Lunch at a lovely Indian
Mala has a lovely lunch option. Not the cheapest Indian, but the smells in the lovely docks just draw you in. The lunch option was good value and the food was fabulous!
Dinner at Mala
Mala is quite a lovely find in the docks near Tower Hill. However not sure if the choices I made weren't great as I had been expecting more based on the lunch I had there before, but rather than really lovely, it was just nice. Will still try it again though.
An excellent meal with very
An excellent meal with very good service. This is adnittedly a favorite of ours but I heartily recommend the Mala for those who appreciate fine food prepaed and served to a very high standard.
Delicious Indian Food
For the entree we ordered the Delhi Aloo Tikki Chaat and for the main Karahi Gosht and Butter Chicken. The entree, a deep fried potato fritter, lightly spiced and coupled with a refreshing yoghurt chickpea salsa was delicious. Was light and wet out appetite for the mains.. My only gripe is that the portion was small, and not quite enough for 2 people to share, we could have easily had one each.
Our mains arrived, and they were absolutely superb. The butter chicken had a rich creamy sauce. The Karahi Gosht was out this world amazing. The lamb was tender and flavoursome which melted and fell to pieces with the first bite, the sauce was rich and full of flavour. Will definitely be making a second visit.
Due to location I expected Mala to be expensive. My wife and I had the set meal which was £27 each. A selection of different starters was a nice start although one piece of chicken and one small lamb kebab along with some other bits weren't really enough. The main of lamb spinach and also a chicken curry were ok but quite bland. The added sundries, dessert and coffee made it enjoyable but not somewhere I'd be rushing back to.
AB FAB food and Service
Excellent food and service. Out of a party of six, four of us were vegetarians (and t-total), no problem, there was plenty of choice of veg meals, and all the food we ordered tasted superb. Waiters were attentive without being pushy. We all had starters (platter to share), Main and afters. Total Bill £200.00- an excellent value for money
We booked a table for 4 and all of us were very impressed with the quality of the food and the level of service we received. St Katherine's Dock has always been a favourite of our - cant think why we have taken so long in getting round to dining at Mala. We will be back again
This was my second visit here and overall the food, value and service were very good and to be fair they border on outstanding.
Having been here for lunch only on two occasions I would have to say that it was very quiet and lacking in atmosphere. No doubt when it is more crowded I can imagine that it would improve a lot.
My food was excellent and good value although my partner was not quite so impressed but this just may have been her selection.
Simply put, would I return, yes. Its a notch up on many Indian restaurants I have been to.
Fantastic spot in London, unknown to most. Food is eally good, staff is friendly and competent and the location is outstanding!
Tasty meal in St Katherine's Dock
Four colleagues and I attended for a post work entertainment. Delicious food, and very friendly head waiter. Good time had by all. Recommend the lamb Banjara Gosht.
We have had a birthday party (dinner) with 9 people and food and service were outstanding. We will come back!
I thoroughly enjoyed Mala! The food was excellent and the service was very good, I will definitely go there again.
Lovely atmosphere and lovely food!
enjoyed all the food that we ordered and the staff were very attentive. It was quite expensive but I suppose it is London prices, and to be fair the food was lovely so I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance.
One of the best Curries I've had!
Had a lovely meal booked for two via top table whic hwas extrenely easy to do! I woudl 100% recommend that you try the tandoori chicken salad starter - simply amazing! The nahns were extremely light. Fantastic meal :)
Post exhibition late lunch
My friend Alien and I when to the Tate modern for the Lichtenstein exhibition and came here to discuss our impressions of the work. We had very fine prawn pooris, the house signature dish and a good deal of Cobra beer. The food was rich and delightful. We should have ordered some red wine as an accompaniment. The location is lovely and quiet.
Best Indian ever!
Truly enjoyed the food there. THE best Indian I ever had.
We had the advantage of our Indian colleague to organise dishes but even if you don't I genuinely recommend this place.
Been here loads of with various different frienda and food is always consistently good. Had thali veg this time and they were very flexible in making changes to set menu and there was lots of food. May need to take some of it away as too nice to waste
Thorough enjoyable meal
I booked Mala for the first time last Saturday to celebrate my birthday, with friends, after a matinee theatre show. We will definitely return. The food and service were very good. It was a pity the weather wasn't warmer for stroll around the dock to look at the boats. We had a thoroughly good night.
This was the first time I tried Indian food and I loved it. Service was great, staff talked me through the menu and explained what to eat. If you're ordering curry don't have any starters as it is too big to have. Overall, great dining.
You won't be disappointed
This is the second time now dining at Mala, each time has been an extremely good dining experience. The food has been spot on and the whole restaurant creates a relaxed atmosphere. You're not hemmed in with difficulty getting round other diners so you really have your own space.
We really enjoyed our first visit to the Mala Restaurant for my husbands birthday. The service and food was very good, although I thought some of the dishes on the menu were over priced. The restaurant has a lovely setting (St Katherine's Dock), which makes a visit a bit more special.
I only get to visit London recreationally once or twice a year and always make sure that I visit the Mala. The food is always excellent and the staff are fantastic. We were taken to our table 3 minutes later than our requested time and we were given free poppadums' as an apology (we didn't even realise the delay as we waited with a bottle of wine). The recommendations by the waiters are always worth a try, we had a lovely first course chosen by the waiter which wasn't yet listed on the menu. Service is great and unobtrusive. Would definitely recommend, you won't be disappointed.
great bday dinner
as a vegetarian this restaurant had a wide variety of choice. the staff were very attentive and friendly and got involved by recommending signature dishes
beautiful surroundings and nice atmosphere inside restaurant
only downside was the lighting was too dim otherwise highly recommended
My favourite indian restaurant.
My friend and I came across this gem of a restaurant last year, since then it has been a firm favourite of ours. If you're looking for a lovely view, great food, good service then do try here.
The food was fantastic and well presented, the service was great and wasnt left waiting for anything. Its located in a perfect location and just added to the experience of the day.

Good Indian food in an excellent location....have been there multiple times and is an all-time favorite.
Dinner at Mala Restaurant was lovely. The restaurant has been well designed with every attention given to little details. The service was professional, food was beautiful and plenty of it and the setting is perfect for a summer evening.
I visited with a disabled friend for lunch, during his lunch break. Beautiful food, service efficient, caring but not intrusive.
Surroundings in the docks are lovely too!
I had eaten here in March with my sister and we loved it.
When my own family were invited to a wedding in London
I immediately booked dinner there for us all and my family
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, atmosphere and value
for money. Will recommend this to all our friends and hope
to be back soon ourselves
Always enjoy Mala
Took my parents there for the 'meet the boyfriend' dinner. Sharing food is always a good way to bring people together and also chat about what you're eating (we did have more to talk about than that, but it was a good ice-breaker ;)
Love both their dahls and vegetarian sides, and service was good - would recommend a drink in the bar next door beforehand to get you even hungrier for the flavoursome Indian!
Beautiful location on St.
Beautiful location on St. Katherine's dock (would recommend requesting a window table). Excellent food on a menu that includes loads of interesting options on top of your 'seen everywhere' curry dishes. Friendly staff and great service. Slightly pricier than a 'regular' Indian, but generous portions and stilll good value for a really nice City restaurant in a popular location.
I have been going to Mala for nearly 15 years and many staff have been retained throughout that entire period, which is an excellent sign
Service excellent, Quality of food excellent, Value for money excellent also and one of the very best views of London thrown in, it's pretty hard to find reasons not to go.
Went to Mala on a Friday night for birthday dinner. The location is fantastic at St. Kathrine's docks. Two days in advance I popped in to have a look a the restaurant and was warmly welcomed by the manager. As I mentioned that I am having a birthday dinner here on Friday he took me to a table he would give us on the night, which was lovely and overlooking the docks. On the night we got seated at exactly the same table and had some great food, taking in consideration it was the first experience with Indian food for most of us. Great atmosphere. Service is very attentive, but not too eager. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will come back. It's lacking the WOW factor though to receive a fifth star. All in all - Great! Recommend!
Hosted a rather large business
Hosted a rather large business dinner and the location, the service and the dining options for a large group were
Good food but a bit expensive
Very tasty meals and good service but £80 for starter, main, sides of rice & bottle of wine for 2 is a bit much. Would go back but will will watch my choice if dish price wise.
As good as ever
I hadn't been here in a couple of years and had high hopes based on my memories, and I wasn't disappointed.
The food is wonderful - even on the limited lunch menu - and the only place I've eaten in this country that really resembled food I've eaten when in India. The service, wine list and beautiful location just complete the package.

set meal portions are very large good quality and well presented, visited for birthday meal very good service, nice outlook to marina, will defiantly return when next in area
The service was good and the quality of food was also good. I would certainly recommend Mala to my friends.
FABULOUS VENUE & FOOD
Had a fabulous meal at the Mala Restaurant. The service was exceptional and Raj was on hand to over see and make sure that every thing was perfect. All the staff were immaculate and the service was second to none.
This was the first time that we had eaten here and it will not be the last!!.
The food was reasonably priced but the drinks were slightly pricey, however the food was first class.
We highly recommend Mala Restaurant to anybody who enjoys fine Indian cuisine.
