Excellent tasty food, attentive and friendly service. The best indian food I have eat in a while.
First class service
This was our second visit to charcoals and wasnt disappointed. We were well looked after by Ali and his staff, who couldnt do enough for you to make you feel most welcome. Food was first class and would recommend the salmon tikka starter. Looking forward to returning soon. Anyone thinking of tryingcharcoals, i would recommend that you book first. During our visit there were many people walked in off the street only to be turned away as the restaurant was fully booked.
best Indian in Glasgow
Another great meal, Ali is a great host you get everything you ask for and more, fish and chicken pakora to die for, and I love the popadoms with all the dips, one thing about this place they can't do enough for you, but are not over all the time when you want peace and quite, I have taken many people to charcoals and they all rave about it, I do love a window seat or at the back. Make sure you ask for a larger table as the wee tables for 2 can't hold all your food, lunch and pre theatre are great and I honestly can never finish it completely which is a good sign, I will be back in the not too distant future
Great Saturday Night Out!
You cannot go into "Charcoals" grab a quick curry and head off to other pubs, the restaurant itself is made for those of us who wish to have a great night out in a fabulous place and "Charcoals" is certainly that. Outstanding food and service make you want to spend the evening socialising and that is what happened on Saturday. Our friends found the service very friendly and the food amazing, "I've got a party going on in my mouth" one of my guests was heard to say, "it's amazing!".
I cannot recommend the restaurant enough and Ali (voted Glasgow's Maitre 'D of the year) makes everyone feel special.
The place is a triumph!
Great city centre restaurant
Excellent food, freshly cooked with friendly, helpful staff.
We were in for the executive lunch and would thoroughly recommend it - although if you are pushed for time you may want to phone in your order in advance as they make everything fresh it does take a bit longer. Absolutely no complaints at all the choice was excellent and all 4 of us enjoyed our meals and all agreed that it was also excellent value and this would now be a regular of ours.
Super food and great value for money. Made welcome from coming through the door. Nothing too much trouble for Ali and his staff. I changed my mind about main dish and although it was nearly cooked I got my change no problem. Wouldn't go past Charcoals when wanting an Indian meal in Glasgow.
Had a wonderful meal here with my husband. Was realy impressed with the new layout of the restaurant. The food as always was fantastic. The pakora is to die for and the Chicken Tikka Charcols was one of the best indian dishes I have ever tasted. As ever the service was outstanding - would highly recomend.
Pleasant venue and good service
Pleasant venue and good service in centre of Glasgow. Food was great and good advice from waiters.
Older lads' night out
Lively atmosphere, slick service, good food with extras, friendly staff. What more could you want on Friday night?
Relaxing & Tasty
Very lively and freindly atmosphere, Mango Chicken Tikka was so tender & tasty could have eaten it again! Only criticism was a little rushed we hadn't finished pompadoms when our main course arrived.
Excellent best ever
Charcoals is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been in. The food is excellent. The service was outstanding. The staff were very friendly and courteous and paid very much attention to customers requirements. Words cannot express how impressed I was with the lovely fresh excellent tasting food and the service which I have never experienced so good in any other restaurant in Britain. I highly commend the manager for the way he runs his restaurant. Superb Excellent Well Recommended. What more can I say.
Dined at Charcoals 12/6/13,we were dining early as we were going to SECC,the staff were excellent, the food superb, overall very pleased we chose this well run restaurant.Coming down from Aberdeen we were unsure where to eat but made an excellent choice when eating at Charcoals.
Overall, the experience was fantastic, the staff were excellent, friendly, quick and so nice. The food was excellent! from start to finish, one of the best meals I have had, have highly recommended to quite a few friends!
Charcoals - Excellent
We come down to Glasgow from Aberdeen every now and again and the last three trips we have made sure to visit Charcoals for dinner. The food and service are both excellent. I'm a big fan!
The title says it all this place is excellent on all levels. I cannot remember when I have had such good food and service.
The staff are attentive but not overbearing and you are made to feel more like a guest than a customer. GREAT.
Best Indian in Glasgow
Easily the best Indian restaurant in Glasgow for food. Decor isn't the best and the tiolets are a little cramped but the food and overall experiance more than makes up for this.
Everyone in our group raved about the food. 10/10
And the staff are wonderful too.
I'll be back very soon.
Everything about our first visit to Charcoals was outstanding. Food and service was amazing! The staff were all so friendly and helpful, special mention to Muhammad who sorted my girlfriend and I out with some free drinks.
The next time I am back in Glasgow I will 100% be visiting this fine establishment once again. I genuinely cannot recommend Charcoals enough.
Thanks for a great evening!
Quite simply the food and service were excellent . The best Indian food I have ever tasted
Favourite place for a meal. Service & food fabulous. Have taking a few different friends and all agree best Indian in Glasgow. Highly recommend.
My boyfriend and I visited Charcoals recently for the first time and we will definitely be back. The food and service was excellent. Ali along with the rest of the staff did everything possible to enhance our dining experience and I have been recommending the place to everyone since. Great place.
excellent service and food
Absolutely satisfied with the experience as the waiter provided some free starters (which tasted amazing) and also some other special nun bread for free.
Food was amazing and good friendly staff!!
Will definitely go again!!
Fantastic food & great service
This was my 3rd visit, my son and I had another excellent meal, the food is delicious, some old favorites and some more unusual dishes to chose from. We were in mid afternoon before heading out to Hampden for a gig and not only was it great value but we were encouraged to take as long as we liked. We will definitely be back many more times.
Great dinner after fantastic day
Had drove past this place a million times, and never thought it would be such an eye opener in my dining experience. found the restaurant on trip advisor, and had nearly 1000 review and only ten poor. which after my experience I find hard to see why anyone would rate this place poor, great flavours mixed with different taste and the fact u could taste all the flavours rather than when u get a hot curry u just feel burning, staff were great and Ali in particular made sure to make us feel welcome.
Great Indian in Glasgow
After reading the great reviews in Trip Advisor we thought it was about time to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Service was excellent, and the food was lovely. The next time we are in Glasgow it will be our first port of call. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
the best Indian Restaurant
Another great meal thanks to the Manage and his Staff, nothing is too much bother they are there to please you, the food and service is excellent. The Pakora is the best I have ever tasted and that includes the fish, chicken and vegetable, and all the other little extras that are given, it was my sons birthday and they had balloons and banners and icecream with a candle then took his picture and presented it to him, you just don't get these special touches anywhere else, I would recommend Charcoals to everyone and all my friends and family that have been have all enjoyed it so much
Visited Charcoal's on Friday
Visited Charcoal's on Friday night. We were greted on arrival and shown to our table by a friendly waiter.
The menu has a good combination of classic and authentic Indian dishes, and was great value for Monday. The drink menu was also well priced with a decent bottle of wine of costing £13.
All of our party thoroughly enjoyed their food. Alli, our friendly waiter ensured we were well looked after and checked in with us during each course. He also threw in couple of free starter dishes which were excelelnt and a nice touch.
I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a Indian food, great food and value for money.
One of the best in the UK
Had a wonderful experience at Charcoals. The food is absolutely delicious and the athmosphere is very relaxed and the staff very friendly and eager to please their customers. Would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys fantastic indian food and generous portions)

Excellent quality food at a reasonable price. Staff very attentive at all times. Best Indian in Glasgow
Best Indian in Scotland
I just love Charcoals and do try and get there at least once a month, I have tried other restaurants in and around Glasgow and nothing compares to this, food is good and also the service is the best
This was very good food and very good value. It even included a free after dinner digestif!
A gem of a place
This is the second time we have visited charcoals whilst visiting Glasgow. Cannot rate it high enough. Service outstanding. Indian cuisine at the highest level.
Best Restaurant in Glasgow!
Charcoals is an absolute delight every single time. The food is cooked to perfection & the service from Ali and his staff is the best I have experienced.
Whenever my partner and I fancy a relaxing evening being looked after, or there is a family celebration, or after a day on the beer the lads and I need a curry, this is where we come. 10/10.
Friendly service, a complimentary
Friendly service, a complimentary bread dish (khulcha) and an interesting lunch menu - with a Bangladeshi twist. A short walk from the Buchanan street subway.
Unhappy with Toptable
After visiting your site and looking at menus that you advertise I decided to book the three course pre-theatre meal with tea/coffee available till 6.30pm. The table was booked for 6pm. When my partner and I arrived we were informed that the offer is only available till 6pm! Luckily Charcoals allowed us to still choose from the pre-theatre menu. They didn't have to and due to your negligence we would have been out of pocket. We then discovered it is only a two course meal with no tea or coffee. You really need to keep your site updated. I would not use toptable again or be recommending to friends or family.
Excellent food, friendly staff
Excellent food, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Charcoals in Glasgow never fails to impress
L.ovely food.Dopiaza to die
L.ovely food.Dopiaza to die for.The staff are very attentive and Ali is a star. Hope to visit again soon
My wife and I had dinner here on 6 October 2013. The food was excellent, very reasonably priced and the staff were very courteous and attentive. We were even given both poppadums and a starter "on the house". Couldn't fault it. Would definitely go back if in Glasgow.
Wish we could go back soon
Booked lunch for myself and 3 teenage daughters, arrived to find only us there. Great value and excellent food. We had a mixture of veg and chicken pakora (all fresh and tasty). Two daughters had Chasni (one chicken, one lamb), I like a hotter curry, hence I had a South Indian Garlic Chilli and really enjoyed, but tasted the Chasni sauce and it was beautiful. The 16 year old said it was the softest, nicest lamb she had ever tasted (could have been more, but it was a lunch dish). Other daughter had Chicken Tikka Masala, which tasted different to the usual but so good that could have had the sauce as a soup.
We have been to many Indians and already this is one of the favourites, just a shame we do not stay in Glasgow!!
We have dined here on three occasions and each one has been memorable. The food is wonderful, if a bit too spicy if you are not careful! The service is excellent and sensitive to the diner's needs, and the choices are unusual. The array of 'on the house' testers will blow you away! Delicious!
And a hint....try the garlic mushroom starter! wow!
We booked this restaurant
We booked this restaurant after seeing impressive reviews. The staff were efficient, attentive, friendly and relaxed. The food was superb and very good value for money. They clearly understand how to run a successful restaurant and when next in Glasgow we will definitely visit again.
Excellent food and service
We've visited Charcoals several times, and we've never been disappointed. They provide excellent, fresh-tasting, delicious Indian food that is served by staff who genuinely seem to care that you enjoy the experience. The restaurant itself is simply decorated, but clean and tidy. Overall, what makes Charcoals special is the level of effort applied in every area. Highly recommended, but best to book if you are going at peak times.
A hidden gem in renfield street
Great food, lovely wine list , good service, won't break the bank . Thank you for a lovely meal guys will defo be back . Only gripe is the service charge slipped into the bill, would have tipped anyway.
Travelling from Canada, my daughter and I were looking for a good Indian restaurant in Glasgow. I had read the Tripadvisor reviews beforehand, so decided to make reservations at Charcoals. We had a great meal and the staff were friendly and accommodating! We had a chance to have really nice conversations with both our waiters, making the whole experience more homey and welcoming. Next time we travel to Glasgow we'll make a point of coming again to Charcoals!
There is nothing about this place that isn't fantastic. Regular visitor and can't recommend this place enough.
Back again and they did not
Back again and they did not disappoint. For the spicy lovers - try the South Indian garlic chilli and for those with a more delicate taste I recommend the butter chicken. As usual the service and value were as good as normal. Well done Ali - great place to eat
Food is fantastic
Well worth a visit. Excellent food and the service was superb with the staff very well mannered and attentive. I had only been once before and the manager remembered me, which a nice surprise and very good from a customer service pov
Those little extras
This was my third visit, and the busiest I have seen the restaurant. However, service was not affected, it was still friendly and efficient with little extras being offered to try. A nice touch.
I was pleasantly suprised with my first visit to Charcoals. From the minute my friend and I walked through the door the staff could not do enough for us. The food was lovely. I had the fish pakora to start with, which I can recommend, beautiful white fish which just falls apart. The garlic nan is to die for and the Jaipuri is also fab. Could not really fault anything. I will be going back, hopefully it will be the same.
The restaurant is quite small but this should not stop anyone from going in and giving it a chance.
This was our first visit and we were very pleased with the evening. The food was excellent, the service was very friendly and attentive and overall it was good value. We would definitely go back again.
