Great place, good atmosphere.
Great place, good atmosphere. would recommend the tea-time deal. Food was excellent - presented well.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Our night got off to a great start with a champagne cocktail and our meal was second to none! Loved it Thank you, keep it up Kendells
The 'wow' food factor is here
An amazing menu and food cooked to perfection. Definitely the best meal we have ever had in a restaurant in Leeds.
The set menu served early evening has a good choice and the a la carte menu is extensive. Excellent wine list too.
A good reason for a visit to Leeds!
Excellent as usual
Always good food and service. The portions are of a good size and the menu is large and varied.
The food was excellent and the staff were helpful and obliging, and the restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere with a very come as you please dress code.
Just lovely from beginning to end
We went for the early bird (before 7) set menu, you could choose from a variety of starters main courses and puddings for £26 including a half bottle of house wine, they were all delicious and were a selection from the main menu so you knew they weren't the cheaper options as you could see their full price as well.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars for service is that the waiters weren't assigned their own area so we just got whichever waiter that was passing which meant that it was hard for a rapport to build up over the meal, this said I was close to giving five stars as they were all so pleasant it almost made up for it and it suited the venue.
France in Leeds
Good French bistro style restaurant. Early evening fixed price menu is outstanding value but we went for a la carte. Fish soup excellent, confit duck and lamb very good, accompanied by a good value and very acceptable Alsace Pinot Noir. Desserts were tarte au citron (could have been more lemony) and a parfait that was only average.
Popped my cherry
To put it bluntly this was amazing.
Sharon and the rest of the guys provide an eating experience, often found wanting in other establishments.
Superb food, simply amazing, provided in an atmosphere that encourages the enjoyment of it.
Can not highlight this restaurant enough.
Friendly service - amazing concept
...but overall, the attention is put on quality, from top to bottom. You can see that every little details is thought about, right from the punctuation on the menu, to the huge, beaming smile you are greeted with upon arrival. The food is of utmost quality, well priced and beautifully presented. I will definitely, 100% be going back to Kendall's.
buzzing atmosphere, food just bistro standard, waiting staff young and inexperienced, white wine served too cold but the place was rocking.
Great atmosphere. Food delicious. A little pricey but worth it overall. Staff were brilliant.
I found this restaurant on trip advisor, and it was amazing, The food was outstanding and reasonably priced for what we had. Staff very attentive and helpful. The idea of the menu on blackboard gives it a twist and keeps you up to date on what has sold out. Wide and varied menu to suit all tastes, mussels and baked cod to die for. Will definitely be going back again when we're next up in Leeds.
Kendell's was nothing how i expected it to be, somehow it managed to rise right up through the ranks of resteraunts i have dined at and settle firmly into a comfortable number 1 position. The food was indescribably good, the resteraunt itself was so relaxed with an excellent chatty vibe, but it was the staff that made the night a 10/10. They constantly had a smile on their faces and were always only a slight head gesture away. i will definitely be returning to Kendells as soon as i can and have already planned another 4 meals there with family and friends, we hope to see you and your Beef bourguignon very very soon.
Fantastic would highly recommend
Excellent food , service and wine very reasonably priced for the standard of food . Food was mouthwatering can't recommend enough. Book in advance as very busy!
We were seated on a table for 2 which was far too small for 2 people. The table was next to the counter where the telephone was and constantly rang and rang and rang. This was extremely annoying. The service to start with was very good but unfortunately tailed off during the evening.
We booked the "early bird" option at Kendell's simply due to its proximity to the theatre and that it looked like a good deal. The restaurant was just opening at 5.30pm but very quickly had a good number of people dining there and the ambience of the restaurant was lovely - beautiful French music playing in the background, twinkly lights, mismatched chairs etc.
The food itself was absolutely amazing - the beef cheeks and belly pork were our two main courses and the meat was heavenly.
We were so full after just 2 courses that we couldn't stretch any further - especially as we had a 3 hour performance to watch at the theatre, but we will absolutely go again and would be really happy to take family and friends with us.
Great food, great value
Can't speak too highly of Kendell's. Perfect pre-theatre. Good menu, well presented and excellent value. They are so well organised you never have a worry about getting away on time. Such a positive buzz, with efficient and friendly staff. Just great.
The beouf bourgignone was incredible and the atmosphere of the place is really something. Top place for a special occasion.
Whenever I have to travel to Leeds; I travel to Kendell's Bistro.
It is most definitely the best restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of being to.
The service is always above and beyond, making sure everyone feels welcome.
The food tastes as good as it looks, and it looks amazing!
First time visit
Best meal out I've ever had. Staff were so helpful and the food was amazing. This place is a must!
Lovely meal, excellent service and we will definitely return.
outstanding service and food
Exceptional service, amazing food. best food I've ever eaten and my girlfriend said the same. wonderful ambience :-) catered for my special requests . We ate off the early bird list and got a bottle of wine too which was amazing value. very memorable evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant. the lady serving us was exceptional and welcoming :-) I till definitely be returning . thank you so much.
All rounder and just briliant!
I've been to Kendal's a few times now, from romantic meals for two, meet the parents scenario to birthdays, girls nights and break ups. Each time the service has been second to none, very tentative but not annoying. It's always a treat and a pleasure to visit being a fantastic place to forget about real life and indulge in good food and a relaxed setting.
classic French bistro food
The proximity to the playhouse is what made me book here for the first time but now I would just come here (from Doncaster!) for the food. Great menu selection even on the pre-theatre menu. (I particularly love the fact that iles flottantes - my favourite French pud - are always on the menu here.) I also really appreciate the way the greeter asks which show you're going to so the staff know what time you need to be out. And the three hungry teenagers who came with me last time very much appreciated the extra bread basket...
Better than expected
I wanted a romantic, quality restaurant to treat my boyfriend for his 45th before we headed to the Leeds Arena and everything about the dining experience at Kendell's Bistro was nothing short of perfect. I intended to treat my man to the Plats Principaux menu but on arrival, the pre-theatre menu looked wonderful and when our starter, main and dessert arrived we were not disappointed. The food tasted out of this world with great detail being paid to flavor and french tradition... and incredibly good value when ordered from the pre-theatre menu!!! My boyfriend is a frenchman and an ex-chef so "no where creates tastier dishes than him" (in his opinion).... but even he admits, Kendell's blows him out of the water. Great staff too!! Loved it.
Kendells On Friday Evening
We had been looking to try Kendells Bistro for a while now and finally managed to arrange a time.
Booked a table for 2 on-line using 'Toptable', easy to do and received confirmation from restaurant.
We were given a choice of tables on arrival, but as the menu is all on large black boards on one wall,
I had to turn away from my partner to peruse what was on offer, although the waitress did offer to take photos
with our phones so we could view the menu on them.
The food was really tasty, if also slightly expensive, and we would have preferred to have just the one waitress/waiter.
We were never rushed and overall, we enjoyed Kendells Bistro.
Ambience just right
Staying in Leeds overnight I booked this restaurant after reading reviews and it did not disappoint, made to feel really welcome by the friendly staff, good menu choice and a lovely ambience in the restaurant.
Early bird value for the money.
Kendell's once again provided food and service from the top drawer. All aspects of the food provided for both my wife and myself was excellent. Service was well mannered, efficient but not obtrusive. Looking forward to the next occasion to eat here again.
This restaurant is recommended. The only downside is the close proximity of the seating. The food, service and lively atmosphere made for a top night.
Simply the best...!
Kendells Bistro never disappoints, and every visit underlines why they are regularly voted Leeds's best restaurant. The service is brilliant, so is the atmosphere, but it's the food that is the star of the show. A really comprehensive menu, that features several French classics, along with seasonal specials. If you like your food locally sourced, and cooked as it should be, this is the place for you.....10/10.
Delicious; you get what you pay for
My three-course meal comprised a velvety duck liver pate with toasts, beautiful lamb chump with petits pois a la francaise, accompanied by a very nice St Emillion, with a tiny, but intense, chocolate pot to finish. It was expensive, but well worth it - the food was delicious, the atmosphere very homey and the service was superb - attentive, warm and helpful. Wonderful evening.
Great food and lovely ambience, possibly quite expensive in comparison to other nearby restaurants, book before 8 during the week to take advantage of the offers available
Was an absolutely fantastic dining experience! The staff paid attention to the littlest of detail and made our visit extremely enjoyable! The food was delicious and the 'head' lady remembered us from our last visit 8 months ago!
Lovely restaurant, they make you feel very welcome, shabby chic style, no paper menus, everything is written on chalk boards. Fantastic atmosphere, loud and yet relaxed loved the candle wax dripping off the bottles. Music very loud depending where you sit and hardly audible in other areas.Unique place with delicious French food, quite pricy but worth it for a treat! Service is carried out by very young waiters and waitresses but well trained although they do make mistakes. Without the manageress standing at the entrance overseeing the tables the place would fall apart. Food service can also be very slow usually when they get hit at peak times ( waiter very quick to apologise for delays) so I wouldn't eat here if I was in a rush to leave.
We went for the early bird menu, excellent value for money. Food was fabulous, service faultless and décor is very stylish.
What was a disappointment was how loud the music was, I has to struggle to hear what my partner was saying and this is one of the main parts of a meal, we like a good chat.
Kendells Bistro is the best
Kendells Bistro is the best restaurant i have ever been to, the food, service and atmosphere is out of the world, i can only give it 10 out of 10...superb
We were out for dinner for our 8th wedding anniversary. Apparently there had been some problems with the Toptable booking system but you wouldn't have known that ( we only found out as we were leaving). The service and attitude of the staff was exemplary. Food was great, atmosphere lovely. The restaurant was full but we weren't made to feel rushed and the staff were utterly charming. Memorable for all the right reasons!!
A great find
Heard about this place through a friend. We loved it. Can't wait to return with a few friends. Great value 3 course and 1/2 bottle of wine for 25.95. Food fab.
Going the extra mile.
Had a fantastic birthday meal with friends. The food was excellent and the staff were so attentive and went that extra mile. Im very much looking forward to my next visit.
best restaurant in leeds
celebrated my first year anniversary with my girlfriend at the kendall's bistro. Without any doubt, the best restaurant i have ever been.
The quality and quantity of food is simply top notch. The lamb steak is especially outstanding. Services are amazing too. The restaurant complimented two glasses of champaign and some small desserts.
Although a bit pricy, it is definitely worth the price.
Enjoyable evening, friendly
Enjoyable evening, friendly & helpful staff. Arrived at 19.00hrs and was given the option to order from the Early Bird Menu @£25.95 for a 3 course meal which includes a 1/2 bottle of house wine - Good value and good food.
Food was amazing and the service was even better! Loved the French theme, very romantic venue!
A really good evening
Met my friend after work for a pre-Christmas catch up. We weren't hassled but left to have a chat before ordering which was nice. The food was lovely and the atmosphere good. I have been twice before, once with a friend and also with my son who is a real foodie and was visiting from Devon. I am dining with you again on Friday with another friend before going to the theatre.
Number 1 restaurant
We visit this restaurant on numerous occasions and we love it everything from the food service and the ambiance
Love the whole experience : the restaurant ambient, the service and the food - I would strongly recommend to my friends, specially for small groups (I would say no more than 6-8) , or special occasions as anniversaries. Combining with an evening at the playhouse (or theater), is an unbeatable plan
a fantastic experience
A first taste of French cuisine, a great treat for a birthday meal surprise. The feeling you get as you first enter was overwhelmingly cosy and intimate, the food was fantastic and really well priced. The service was great, would recommend to anyone. Will definitely go back.
Great, but not perfect
Overall excellent, been a few times before and it has been outstanding, although I have a couple of small gripes about our meal on Saturday. Firstly, two of the group had the avocado prawn starter, both avocados under ripe and hard - why would chef serve it? Also two of us had creme brulee desserts, both runny and undercooked, I've had it there twice before and it's been perfect. Again, why didn't chef cook them some more? Service before has been exemplary, Saturday night was good but not perfect, we had to chase a couple of things.
I didn't complain about any of my gripes at the time as we were entertaining friends and didn't want to spoil the mood. And, as I said, the main parts of the meal were excellent, just a couple of niggles.
Was my first time at Kendalls Bistro and what a surprise, loved the atmosphere the food was absolutely gorgeous maybe the best restaurant I have been to, the service was first class the waiters were very tentative & friendly but without being overpowering or in your face. All in all superb, will be going back again to try something different from the excellent menu.
Came here for son's 21st meal while he was at Uni. Excellent value, great atmosphere well looked after by all staff, food delicious including birthday cake!
Superb meal/ great atmosphere/ and really well looked after by the friendly staff...best service in Leeds for sure..!!
