Amazing sushi and excellent
Amazing sushi and excellent value with toptable offers. Service was excellent too.
I've visited the Tsunami in Clapham before and actually preferred that one, I prefer the layout of the restaurant and the food itself seemed better in some cases. However, I love sushi, really enjoyed it and should have ordered a bit more! Nice service, yummy food, good menu, can't complain!
Good value, Sushi is good
It was a good dinner, quite empty and lame for a Saturday night though it was August. Sushi was very good, though one warm dish was extremely slow. Always easy to get a table there, so a perfect back up plan.
its good value for money, sushi is good quality (not amazing, but good).
Good food, good location nice
Good food, good location nice setting. Perfect for a mid-high end Japanese resturant
Very tasty dinner but overpriced
We decided to have the set menu which offered almost everything we wanted to order.
The food was really tasty and well presented. The service was good but we paid almost what we would have paid for dinner at ROKA.
I think Tsunami should reconsider reducing their prices to make their food accessable to more people or to make people visit more often.
Took my girlfriend to Tsunami for a birthday meal and neither of us were disappointed. Outstanding sushi selection, served by a polite and helpful waitress and manager. Lovely cocktails too.
Quaint and with lovely food
Absolutely loved the ambience of this restaurant. It was very relaxed & quiet and totally perfect for a dinner for two. As a small restaurant they wasn't a lot of waiters but service wasn't timely. The food was excellent. From a menu range of oysters, edamame, choice of sushi and sashimi, steak and noodle soup options they all tasted like perfection. However, if you are a fan of meat but not sweet food then it is best to avoid the chilly and chocolate flavoured baby back ribs. They did taste good but the sauce was extremely rich. Considering the lunch menu deals it is good value for money. However for a large meals go straight for the mains for more value for money as most dishes are small portions. Would definitely come here again!!
Tsunami Sushi Indulgence
Apart from a black cod dish, our entire dinner was about sushi. The food was delicious and I would highly recommend their speciality sushi dish - Volcano Sushi. Price is expensive even with the 40% discount but you do get the quality. Would go back again but only with the 40% food discount. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and the service was very good. The restaurant was a bit small and seating was compact so it was quite noisy as you could easily hear your neighbours' conversations.
Real Japanese Food
Really enjoyable but expensive without the 40% offer
Tsunami West End is excellent
Tsunami West End offers amazing food and wonderful service - we went on a 40% discount deal through top table and so the meal was excellent value for money. Thoroughly recommended!
Good honest Japanese food
I travel to Tokyo a lot, so have a good appreciation of authentic Japanese food. Usually the best restaurants in Tokyo and London are the ones that specialise in a certain style. It is rare to find a place that covers most techniques well, ( Nobu excepted ). Tsunami was a friendly, almost family style, restaurant which provided great food in a relaxed atmosphere.
food was really fresh and
food was really fresh and tasted great. the waitress wasnt the best although she may have been new.
Good food, lovely ambience
Really nice food- I would highly recommend getting individual sushis rather than the platter though as you get more variation. I believe it is worth the price only when the 40% discount is applied though!
Great Food, unbelievable value.
Went on a Tuesday night after work, the 40% off deal means you are getting A grade Sushi for bargain prices. Going to make it a regular spot. Try the Volcano roll. Magic.
Great little gem in Charlotte
Great little gem in Charlotte Street. The quality has not suffered, and prices are still ok. Didn't try the wine list but most dishes were outstanding. Good for sharing, or for people that also appreciate the quality of the place.
It's difficult to find great tasting sushi in london. I always compare it to the fab sushi i tasted in america and none comes close to it till i tasted the sushi at tsunami. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal there and the staff are all very accomodating and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommending this restaurant. The only suggestion is to make it a little bit friendly for babies (e.g. High chair, changing facility).
Consistently good food
We dined at Tsunami with a TT offer. We have been coming to Tsunami for years because the food is always very tasty. The whisky scallops and black cod are our favorites - so much that we ordered another scallop dish after the main course. The service can be hit and miss and this time it was a miss. Very hard to have the waiters attention. I asked for extra sauce for the cod and after reminding the waiter twice, the sauce arrived 10 minutes later and by then the cod was cold. The décor is looking tired with the walls stained from presumably food. A TT offer visit is recommended if you are not fussy about décor and service.
Favourite London sushi restaurant
I love Tsunami, every time I visit it is a treat. The food is incredible, with a fantastic selection and amazing quality. Tsunami Clapham has the edge in terms of the visual impact and cocktails, but Tsunami West End has the edge in terms of food, with just that slightly better quality and preparation. It is a gorgeous intimate little restaurant and you really cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. There is something for everyone, whether fish lover or not, though I always go for the various sushi pieces and platters rather than the main meals simply because finding that quality at that price is practically impossible anywhere else in London. Can't recommend it enough, amazing.
The food at Tsunami was brilliant, will definitely be back. Paritcularly enjoyed the appetisers and the dynamite beef for main. Tables fairly close together.
The food was great, but it took around 30 minutes just to serve us our appetizer. We managed to get the early bird discount, which is a real deal for those who want to eat decently for a relatively acceptable price.
Second time to this restaurant was as good as the first. Very good food in generous portions excellent Marlborough wine, attentive service. I've no doubt we'll be back a third time. Three bottles of wine and full three courses for 4 came to a reasonable £260.
Lovely menu - good all rounder
Dim sum, sushi and some lovely meaty bigger dishes too - this place has a menu to keep everybody happy.
The food tastes delicious and is presented well. It's a place where you share the dishes so its good for groups of people.
Personal highlights: chicken gyoza, dynamite beef and black cod.
Had a great time with my date at Tsunami. I tend to order a lot of food so the table for two was slightly small for what we had. Never the less, the food was great. Some interesting variations on traditional sushi. Not a classic Japanese restaurant.
The ambient lighting was definitely very good for the romance.
Only words of advice you should take from this is WAIT FOR THE FONDANT.
This is a great location, and the restaurant itself was very busy - testimony to the quality of food and service. We had a great meal with prompt but not overbearing service. We didn't have to wait for anything - and the stream of empty plates underlined how good it all was!
Great quality at reasonable prices
Great tasty and fab quality food at affordable prices with the early bird top table deal. Will definitely return!
Birthday Dinner for Two
We asked for a nice table and were given one of the two best in the house. We were greeted by friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. We had the taster menu and the food was absolutely fantastic. We chose Sake to drink which was also very good. The desert arrived with a candle - a nice touch as it was my Partner's Birthday.
Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning soon.
That's all that needs to be said. Not everything perfect here but really nice food.
We have eaten at Tsunami once before and yet again we really enjoyed the food. The snow crab and prawn dumplings especially were delicious. The restaurant itself is very nice . The toilets could have been slightly cleaner which was a shame as we arrived when they opened at 5:30 so this shouldn't have been an issue.
Tsunami is a great dining
Tsunami is a great dining experience. Each course was prepared to perfection. Sushimi was wonderful, though if I could criticise, a little on the small side. Our mains (salmon and beef teriyaki) were perfect and definitely enough to satisfy!
Service is very good, though we did feel as if we were being rushed just a little at times. This may have been because it was very busy. Recommended nonetheless!
Dinner 10 October 2013
Good restaurant, extensive menu & very good food. Ordered Nigiri and Sashimi which tasted fresh and authentic we then had Tempura, which again tasted very good. We finished with some very good Miso soup. Dessert menu not great. We had deep fried ice cream in chocolate sauce, not great, but you don't go to Japanese restaurants for desserts in my opinion.
A nice small restaurant, at the quieter end of Charlotte St., so it feels a bit isolated. Decor OK, bit basic. Staff attentive, don't hassle you and made good Sake recommendations. Glasses kept full at all times without the staff hovering over us. I'd recommend this restaurant for a casual meal, but if you want something a bit more special go to Roka up the road, but prepare to pay double.
Very impressive and great value with the 40% Early Bird discount.
Monday evenings promotion with 40% discount on food is great and the service is included too. Outstanding value for money
Post Theatre Anniversary Dinner
My husband booked a show for our anniversary and looked up Japanese restaurants on Top Table - all as a surprise. Tsunami came up as number one and he booked a table. We found out on arrival and soon after, that it was essential to book before you attend as there is limited seating, so we were happy that we did. The orders were taken swiftly, the drinks were yummy, the food arrived in good time. No long delays. It was all beautifully presented and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere is very chilled out. The decor is contemporary and sleek. All in all it made for the perfect night out. Thanks to the staff and my wonderful husband!
We visited tsunami a few days
We visited tsunami a few days ago and we were impressed by the freshness of the sushi and the friendliness of the staff.
Overall, we had a very nice experience and we are definitely going back soon.
A Nice Little Place
We went there for dinner - unfortunately too late to take advantage of any special offers.
Had a starter of edamame, takoyaki (octopus) and prawn tempura alongside a couple of cocktails (a mango cosmo? and a passion fruit Martini).
I rarely see takoyaki available and my wife has never had it so that was quite interesting and tasty. Tempura was average affair.
For main we shared hoi sin duck and roasted pork belly with plain rice. The pork was simple yet very tasty and both of our favourites, both looked great and went down well.
The most interesting part of our meal was dessert as I had a lemon grass crème brûlée with passion fruit ice cream while she had passion fruit cheesecake. Presented well and tasted even better.
I think the words that best sum up Tsunami are YUM!, EXCELLENT AND MUST GO TO!!! I did a little research online for which Japanese restaurant was a good all rounder and this place is underestimated! Better than Nobu! Good wine list the food was faultless, we had the tasting menu and couldn't fault it at all, fresh vibrant clean flavours everything was presented beautifully, loved the green tea ice cream! pure genius..
Left feeling completely satisfied. Will be back for sure!!
Loved the decor too....
Food at Tsunami was wonderful
Food at Tsunami was wonderful as always. Truffle and rib eye and kataifi prawns are our favourites, as well as their slightly out of the ordinary award-winning sushi with sauce.
Delicious sushi and cocktails!
Went for dinner for a birthday treat w
20% off. We got there earlier than expected but it was no problem as they'd just opened.
Food was fantastic had the most delicious gyoza (that looked handmade) and hairy prawns. Had a sashimi platter and sushi to share. The presentation was very impressive, but I wished we'd ordered a volcano roll-I'm not giving anything away, but it looked amazing! Lychee mojito and sake set it all off!
Service was good but we had 2 waitresses asking us the same thing, so obviously there was a little confusion there. However the waitresses were very nice.
Another reviewer mentioned the toilet and I will too-it looks very impressive, but no good if
there's no toilet tissue-and this was the beginning of the evening!
Good quality food
Good quality food. Drinks and food served within reasonable time.
I'm not a sushi fan, but my food snob partner had the luxury sahimi and he said it was amazing, and when we wanted more of one particular fish, they were happy to bring extra over.
I had the beef teriyaki, was absolutely delucious, the beef was cooked perfectly!
The service was great and all the staff were very friendly, drinks were great.
Very highly recommended, can't wait yo go back there myself!
Tsunami West End
This restaurant is in a quiet area - but a fantastic find! Food is excellent and staff so attentive without being intrusive. Great place to go to impress.
A great Japanese restaurant
We love the food at Tsunami and have been several times - the menu is extensive with many dishes not available elsewhere. Plenty of choice whether you just want a couple of small courses or, as in our case, you want a sumptuous feast! Incredible value with the TT offer of 40% off if you eat early or late. Very pleasant staff and the friendly atmosphere add to an enjoyable evening.
Nobu but half the price and a less sterile setting.
This place is really sweet, very good food, maki and sushi were really fresh and the crab dumplings are a must.
Service isn't that of a more established restaurant, they aren't rude just a little but awkward with how they should behave.
But the food is great, the setting is very cute, and it really is a lovely place.
Great date night location!!
Lamb Cutlets not to be missed !
The Lamb cutlets with kim chee sauce are one of the best I have tried in a long time. We saw another table have the flambe scallops. Will definitely be trying that next time!
We had a great and tasty meal. This is great Japanese food with real character. The steamed seabass is a treat every time.
I'd recommend it to couples, friends and families with older children who are interested in food.
Excellent food and imaginative idea
We had the sashimi platter which was fresh and well prepared, and then mixed tempura which was light and tasty. The highlight of the meal was a delicious lamb chop and stir fried vegetables. Very special! Nice touch on the ice cream was a few slices of fresh fruit. All round a great find!
Great food, great value
Had a (long) business lunch here - food was very good - fresh sushi and sashimi, interesting and tasty mains, good service and a surprisingly small bill at the end of it!
Great food - will be going back
Really enjoyed dinner here, it was my second visit and it was definitely better. Recommend sharing lots of small dishes, these are the best and you get to taste a bit of everything. Cocktail menu is also amazing.
Good Quality Japanese Food
This is a tried and tested favourite of anyone who loves Japanese food. The chefs here have managed to fuse together a Menu which is traditional Japanese but also Western flavours which shows they listen to their customers.
The Sashimi is very fresh and the Salads and Sushi are exciting and different to other restaurants. The Tuna / Truffle Sushi roll is a Must!
You won't be disappointed.
Have been to Tsunami many times but last evening was the first with my boyfriend. Went for the 20%discount deal so had to eat before 7pm. Service was excellent as always and the food was of a high quality. My favourite has to be the kafifi prawns and the tuna roll with truffle mayo. This time though the nori (seaweed) wasn't as fresh so was a bit chewy. Would recommend.
