A great venue to meet friends
The bar was packed, but thankfully the restaurant behind sliding glass doors is much more relaxed. The service was very efficient and friendly. Not having ordered starters we were expecting a long wait for our main courses but were pleasantly surprised at how quickly it arrived. The food was delicious and there was a lot of choice on the menu with varying levels of pricing so something for every pocket. Had a really enjoyable and relaxing evening. The only small negative thing I would say is that some of the tables were a little too close to each other. But don't let that put you off.
Perfect location pre theatre
Perfect location pre theatre at Royal Court. Choice on the pre theatre menu is fine and we were served in good time for the programme. Tables are reasonably well spaced so good to catch up with friends here.
Great place, good food
Lovely place to go for a nice lunch thats not pretentious. Our food was lovely and came quite quickly but they forgot about our wine, twice. The service other than that was great and when we pointed out we were wineless the staff were mortified so maybe only a one off??
Would defo go back and recommend.
We booked for 5 but we were
We booked for 5 but we were arriving at staggered times for breakfast. The staff were excellent and didn't mind and the last order rolled into lunch. It was my partner's birthday and the waiters overheard us talking about this and suddenly produced a candle and 5 delicious pieces of fudge! How thoughtful and kind. We would certainly go again and highly recommend it. They have a wonderful barman who makes fantastic dry martinis as well!
Very Nice - Again!
This was our second trip. The place is lovely, very nicely maintained. There's a nice vibrant ambience, and whilst cosy, remains nicely formal in the dining room.
The menu is extensive and on both occasions all the food has been very good. Good portion sizes too!
The tartare is very good - a nice amount of pickles, and a little spice. The duck confit was spot on, and the Sunday roast pork was generous, with good garnish - every part cooked nicely.
The wine list has some very nice wines, and at some very fair prices.
The service has been excellent on both occasions as well.
I'd love to find something wrong, but I can't!
Best Friend's Lunch
Started with pink fizz at the cool bar, then moved to the restaurant for gorgeous food, immaculate service, interesting people watching , great atmosphere. 3rd time I have chosen The Botanist for lunch with friends and it won't be the last. Top of my list. The oysters were sublime, but very hard to choose as the menu is extremely well balanced and thought-out.
Enjoyable food & Good Atmosphere
The Botanist has a vibrant atmosphere on a Saturday evening. Menu was varied and food cooked well, with both my burger and my Wife's fish were tasty. Service was good with staff engaging and very friendly. A great place for cocktails and a drink before a meal as well. Cocktails made with precision and care. Very happy with this everything here and would certainly come back again to sample the other dishes on the menu.
Dinner with Children
When I take my children out for dinner rather than just food I want to be able to enjoy the experience myself. My girls (14&9) want to be able to dress up yet it has to be early for my son (7) I have taken them to the Botanist now 3 times for early evening dinner. The food is very enjoyable and has always been perfectly served and even though its always early when we are there the atmosphere is great...
Its also a regular haunt for my husband and I for after shopping drinks and dinner. It is always very busy and the cocktail guys are fantastic!!!
Perfect all round venue in my book....
An excellent choice for a
An excellent choice for a relaxed birthday luncheon for visitors from the country. Great location for shopping. Good variety of interesting and well prepared food. Worth the money. £17.50 wine was excellent.
Great vibe, delicious food and service. A very enjoyable late lunch. We will be back.
Nice! It was my first time
Nice! It was my first time there but the service make me feel so comfortable
Whenever anyone special comes to London to visit I generally book a table for lunch at the Botanist. What makes this restaurant so excellent is that you can guarantee that the service will be impeccable and the food will be great. Their desserts in particular are delicious.
The staff are genuinely lovely and interested in the clients and in my two most recent visits have gone out of their way to provide a personal service.
Flower Show Lunch
An excellent late lunch with great service after a very long morning at a wonderful Centenary Flower Show. Good ambiance; interested, personable and knowledgable staff.
A botanical end to a botanical day!
We had supper at the Botanist after a full day at Chelsea Flower Show as a party of 4. The Bar was packed when we arrived at 4.30pm and quite noisy but the the restaurant was quiet and calm (although it filled up while we were there) and the staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable about the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal (3 of us sticking to 2 courses, with one having 3)- the food was well presented and perfectly cooked, and considering the location, competitively priced (circa £50 per head including aperitifs and wine). Although you are restricted to a 2 hour booking, we arrived early and our table was ready so we did not feel at all rushed. We thought it was a lovely venue and would eat there again.
We went for lunch prior to going to the Chelsea Flower Show for the afternoon. It was the perfect start. Most memorable was the warm, friendly and helpful service. The ambience was lively which even encouraged other diners to engage in conversation with us which in London was a welcome surprise! The food was delicious. Crab linguine was simple, tasty and flavoursome. The lobster was beautifully soft and light. The hit dessert was the bread and butter pudding. The creme brûlée was light and perfect. Value for money outstanding. Wouldn't hesitate to go again on another visit to the big smoke!
Lat Supper at Botanist
A late supper it was 22.00 for the four of us. Food was excellent, though small portions. Desert choices improved! However, it was fashionably expensive, a premium being charged for the location on trendy Sloane Square, however it was conveniently around the corner from the Cadogan Hall. Helpful waiting staff and security guards outside for our wheel chair companion, though this place has steps to contend with, and no accessible WC.
We have been to the Botanist several times & on all occasions we have found service, ambience & food all of a high standard. We will return.
Lovely night out
We went here for our wedding anniversary and it certainly did not disappoint! Our waitress was great; very friendly and attentive. The food was great too, especially the desserts! The place was packed and the ambiance was nice - not too loud, so we could hear each other talk.
All in all a lovely night and would highly recommend.
Took my mother here for her
Took my mother here for her birthday and all I can say is the food and especially the service was fantastic. I have eaten here before but my mother was blown away by the service, it made her evening. Thank you to the lovely waitress (wish I could remember her name)
Dining spoilt by noisy neighbours
Took my son (21) for a 7 30 dinner on a weekday. Outside the restaurant was very crowded and busy with drinkers closely gathered on the pavement and inside, had to push our way through. Greeted at door of restaurant by very friendly staff.
Restaurant at that time a quarter full. However, in spite of several tables for 2 being unoccupied, in quiet positions, we were seated right next to an already seated table for 4, (tables are close) My son and I could hardly hear each other speak for loud and dominating conversation and loud laughter from this table.
Apart from the above, the service was excellent, the food superb, (no dessert due to neighbours - left after main course) - toilets clean with individual towels.
I would go again.
A happy lunch
First time in London for a few months and booked for lunch. Arrive early - no problem, staff delightful, charming and friendly. HE was thrilled to find steak tartare on the menu and it was absolutely excellent - I had Tamworth pork with a jus and good salad with goat's cheese dressing just what I fancied sharp. Shared three huge balls of really tasty sorbet, couple of glasses of wine from large by the glass list - what more could one ask for - may be no rain and sun - but we will definitely go back, convenient location and lots of choices for a huge feast or light snack so ideal for meeting friends.
Fail safe option
Excellent service. I can come here for a drink with buddies or take my mum here for lunch or afternoon tea! Perfect.
Consistently good food and
Consistently good food and service. Have been for lunch and dinner many times. Great bar scene after work.
My 30th Birthday Lunch
Wonderful food, great atmosphere, attentive staff and attention to detail. They made my birthday lunch very special and presented me with a plate with "Happy Birthday" and a few sweet treats at the end of our meal :)
Tasty dishes in a great atmosphere
The Botanist has two main benefits: great dishes with a good crowd and very great service!
Great service, Even better deserts
Usually I find the atmosphere in similar restaurants stiff and the staff, how should I say this, no open. But not the case at all at the Botanist. From the moment we arrived, I felt at ease and the staff were very engaging. Making it easy to get recommendations or even just have a chat. The food was great, but the deserts are divine.
Had a really good evening and would go back any time.
Thanks for the free cocktails :)
all staff friendly and attentive...
all staff friendly and attentive...couldn't have done more to make us enjoy our time there
Refined palate and atmosphere
Looks enticing from the outside and the food was fresh and delicately prepared.
fantastic as always
Staff were lovely, food was great and a good atmosphere.
I love this restaurant
Had brunch here on Sunday, booked the table due to the diversified menu, its nice to have some different options for brunch. Thought the food was good, well cooked and of good quality, My fresh apple juice was a little suspect, think the apples were off as Im pretty sure it shouldn't have been brown. Our waitress was slightly bizarre, maybe she was still drunk from the night before, but she was verry strange! Forgetting things, making jokes to herself, bumping into things, laughing at herself! We found this funny!
I went to The Botanist for a special occasion girly lunch and was satisfied in every way. Great service, food and ambience and would definitely go back again.....
Superb lunch at The Botonist this week. Great table by the window, very sweet waitress, excellent menus (for fish & meat lovers alike) Good wine list & didn't break the bank! Fun ambience. Enjoy!
We had a really lovely evening at The Botanist, the food was taste bud tantalising! The warm artichoke particularly memorable (amazing hollandaise!). Our waiter, Caesar, was fantastic, funny but professional and very efficient! Pleasant ambiance (slightly noisier tables near where the bar begins). We thought the table centre flowers should have been real given the name of the restaurant. Very pretty birthday plate, the fudge and truffles were melt in the mouth delicious.
Highly recommended, we'd definitely return.
My favorite breakfast place in London! Great staff, and the food is always impressive!
Great resurant and great buzz. Service was wonderful; we arrived earlier and got our table with no proble also a nice table location so thanks Top table!
We haad cocktails to start the night really good, we then had starters and I have to say they were amazing the selection is just great and we were not dissapointed. We had winde (white) would have been great to have it much more cooler but was good, a nice sacerre! Mains where god but my lemon sole was just ok and I would have liked to haave something moe substancial coming with it, so you are forced to order sides -for the price would have included a side. But it was nice. and the service overall really wonerful. I would absolutely reccomend The Botanist to other people.
Good fun eating in Sloane Square
This is a favorite restaurant of mine. The food is good and not horribly expensive by Central London standards. The Botanist has a buzz due to the outside drinking area and the bar is lively ialthough it can get a bit crowded when the weather outside is poor.
There is a good range of choice on the menu from some excellent salads to Venison and Sea Bass on the evening I went. They also do an excellent burger and the house wine is perfectly good, although I am no wine expert!
If you are in the area I recommend you give The Botanist a try.
A treat we enjoy when in town
A treat we enjoy when in town but almost spoiled by parents with out of control children. Advise to parents- If you wish to read the morning papers or answer your emails don't bring your children. It really is unfair to spoil others dining.
lovely food, good wine, good service, possibly a bit noisy
Excellent!!! Fantatstic food
Excellent!!! Fantatstic food and lush cocktails...that doesnt cost the earth definately recomennded!!
Very good indeed. I look forward
Very good indeed. I look forward to my next visit.
Perfect pre-theatre for the Cadogan
Good menu choices.
Very good service.
This is the second time we have used The Botanist for pre-concert dining prior to enjoying an event at Cadogan Hall. Whilst the staff are attentive, knowing that this restaurant was booked for this purpose, there was no attempt to rush us through the meal. Wine selection was varied and both pre-concert and general menu were excellent. All-in-all an excellent venue and even the busy bar area did not intrude on our enjoyment.
Delicious food - outstanding staff
An enticing menu spoiled only by the fact that two of the fish specials were already finished at 1.00pm. Staff were helpful in several ways and knowledgeable. The overall experience would have been excellent but for a few minor gripes.
Lunch with a girlfriend
Always go when meeting a friend. Delicious sirloin!
Not a great burger, too expensive
Not a great burger, too expensive for what it was. But great atmosphere and great wine.
Nice food, confused service staff
Food was generally very good - the sweetcorn fritters were excellent - although the toast ordered separately was very packet-like, limp and not very toasted (nothing like the excellent toast that came as standard with the eggs). Service staff seemed very confused too, although the restaurant itself is very nice.
Lovely (but get the coffee right!)
We had a lovely brunch at the Botanist on Sunday, good food and warm atmosphere. The only thing I would suggest is getting the coffee right -if a customer asks for a filter coffee, they shouldn't be served an Americano, there's a big difference in taste and strength. And I would expect a place like the Botanist to know this.
Apart from the convenience for pre-concert dining at Cadogan Hall, which we attend once or twice a month, the experience and consistency of the quality of food and wine plus service which is just at the right level, makes The Botanist our favourite restaurant in the area. Why search for anything else?
Good lunch at The Botanist
Everything was very good about our dining experience. Food was good, service attentive without being overbearing, wine list has a good range of choice. The only irritation is that the room is very noisy generally, and, possibly even more so if you have a table near the bar area (we didn't). That might be part of the atmosphere and ambience but it is a bit heavy going for a lunch time. It wouldn't put me off going back though.
Great food - BYO steak knife!
I visited the Botanist on a busy Friday evening with a friend, the bar was packed with friendly people and after a couple of very nice cocktails we headed to the restaurant for dinner. We both had the sirloin steak on the bone and, although it was slightly more well done than medium rare it was delicious. The peppercorn sauce was tasty and the chips were perfectly cooked. We also had a delicious bottle of pinot noir burgundy. The restaurant was busy and noisy but it didnt spoil the atmosphere and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. My only gripe was that they didnt have any steak knifes for the big chunk of meat on our plates and the knifes on the table weren't very sharp so be prepared to hack or BYO steak knife!!
