We went to Souk Medina as a group o four to celebrate a family birthday. The ambience was great, with decor and furniture very redolent of Morrocco. We could not fault the service and we had the £199.95 deal; two courses and a glass of kir royale. The food was excellent, well presented and cooked.
Atmospheric setting, good food.
Souk Medina is quite a gem - tucked away just off Seven Dials, a small door leads you into a well-exectuted north African fantasyland. The £20 meal deal is excellent - you get a variety of different foods and the portions are generous - don't snack beforehand! The attention to detail in the decor etc is good; it feels like it could come across as 'Disneyish' but manages to avoid this fate through an atmosphere that appears quite genuine.
Good for quite lingering meals, with a companion with a good appetite :-)
Staff very attentive, atmosphere great, food excellent. Will definitely be returning.
My friends loved the place. It was relaxed cosy.food was good. Enjoyed our evening. Thank you.
Very nice restaurant, Great
Very nice restaurant, Great Staff and tasty food at a good price, in particular the tagines and the baklava.
We went in a group of 4 to Souk Medina and opted for a set menu option. the food was amazing, the cocktails were lovely and the waiter was very polite, friendly and made a special effort to substitute items for one friend who could not eat wheat. Entertainment/dancer was brilliant. Great night out, would definitely recommend and would go back. Thank you
Great service, good portions
The staff was very pleasant and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Also, they had good fixed price menus that were a good value.
Great place to celebrate birthday
I took my boyfriend for his birthday here and we had a great time. The atmosphere is superb and food is really tasty. Belly dancer added value to the atmosphere. Service was really great too. It was recommended to me and I will not hesitate to recommend it as well.
Great fun atmosphere and fantastic tagine! Would highly recommend .
Something a little different
We chose the Souk for a Mother's Day lunch celebration as it was something different from a regular restaurant.
The restaurant had a good North African feel to it, attentive and friendly waiting staff and a good selection of Morrocan style food.
We chose our starters and main courses individually rather than choosing a set menu. The portions were generous and tasted great.
We would happily visit again and would also recommend it to friends.
Yummy and cosy
Great atmosphere - very cosy with an exotic feel. We opted for the set menu so no decisions about what to eat. The variety was just perfect for our small group. The waiter offered a "top up" on the main courses if there wasn't enough - that certainly wasn't needed because we could barely finish the quantity served. A good selection of dips and breads followed by a lamb and chicken dish. A nice selection of sweets to finish. There is an outdoor area which I'm sure would be lovely in the warmer months. We will go back again!
Very enjoyable food in opulent surroundings. Very good value for money
We went for our second year anniversary dinner. Being vegetarian, the restaurant catered for us extremely well and provided us with off the menu replacements for main course. The service was very friendly and on time, and the food was well cooked and very tasty. Well recommended.
Really good atmosphere and
Really good atmosphere and nice authentic food, although some of the starters were Greek rather than Morrocan.
Pretty good value overall and the waters were attentive and seemed to be enjoying everything as much as the guests.
This is the second time I have rated at Souk Medina and both experiences have been extremely enjoyable. The food is delicious and the set menu offers a lovely variety of flavours. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Some of our party arrived late and towards the end I was worried we might be late for the theatre. When I told the staff this they made sure they were quick to clear our mains and bring our dessert without actually making us feel like we were in a rush. Souk Medina is a great eating experience and I would highly recommend it.
Want more Humous? Just ask for it!
I have been to this restaurant 3 years ago for a group party, so it was interesting to see what it was like for a pretheatre dinner with my dad. Service was so quick - already finished our mains (cassablanca menu) in 30 mins of arriving. Food very tasty and you definately wont go hungry. Interesting ambience and lots to look at.
I send my work colleagues to this restaurant, had very positive feedback about the food and service. They also enjoyed the entaintainment that evening which we were not expecting. A great thank you to your management and staff. Nita
Good food, friendly staff
Had a very enjoyable emal at Souk Medina. The food was very tasty and the staff friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable. Would go back again.
Restaurant was nice, food was really good. It was quite empty on a Sunday evening, I don't know how it is when it's full. Service was quick and efficient.
All in all a nice place, reasonable prices, great for someone who likes Maroccan food.
Enjoyed by all
We went to Souk for my wife's birthday with our three children (12 - 16 years). Due to other activities on the day we needed to eat mid afternoon which somewhat limited our restaurant choices. We had the set menu which was enjoyed by all and we certainly did not leave feeling hungry! Atmosphere and service were good and we were not rushed.
Would recommend to anyone looking for something different from the usual pizza places that families would normally frequent.
Superb food and service -
Superb food and service - so flavoursome, without being overtaken by chillies or garlic unlike so many other places. Captured the look and feel of Morocco really well. Very good value Highly recommended for a really good tasty meal or just if you want to try something different.
Taste of the Orient
Souk Medina have created a little bit of North Africa in London. If you like this sort of food (and we do) there was a nice selection on the Casablanca menu, with extra portions provided when requested. Service was good but not overbearing. One minor niggle was that we were given the bottled water, not cheap, rather than tap water.
Loved the way they have reinvented a back street building down an alleyway by transporting you into a Moroccan Bazaar.
Great meal and entertainment!
Took my friends here who were visiting from Singapore and we had a fantastic time. Food was excellent! We ordered a few starters (homous etc), then our mains were lamb tagine with apricot and almonds which was delicious, then had sausages and minced meat balls which were yummy!
Entertainment was good fun too!
Fun place for something different
We had the set menu with a group of friends. Simple food and plenty of it. Nice ambience for a party.
Mwah to Moroccan food
Wonderful staff. Beautiful food. Wonderful atmosphere. Definitely going back.
Good food, service still poor
I decided to give Souk Medina another go after a disasterous birthday dinner a couple of years ago. This time the food was still good, which was never a complaint anyway, but yet again the restaurant is let down by poor service. I appreciate the fact they're busy but when you almost have to leave your seat to get someone over then its a bit too much.
Sort out your service and I'd be a regular.....
Feels like you are in the heart of the moroccan souls. Food and service were both very good.
Ambience was excellent.
Very nice meal
My husband and I shared the 'Casablanca' set menu and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The staff were very attentive and helpful. We have every intention of returning to the restaurant again in the future.
Great Middle Eastern Food
My wife & I went there pre a theatre show. We went for the set meal, Casablana menu. There was plenty of food, the lamb & the chicken dishes were excellent, although I did add some harisa paste to make it a bit spicier for my taste. The desserts were super. Overall, I would recommend it, great value & something a bit different. Small point is that that the seating was a little cramped, if you want it to be really romantic, but did add a little to the bedouin ambiance!!
Decor, furnishings and overall ambience are all you might hope given the restaurant name. Not sure about the value of the 'special offer' via top table, you may just want to check out the routine menu if you are visiting for lunch. Overall very enjoyable experience. Food was slightly less tasty and strongly flavoured that I would have preferred. Great location tucked away in Covent Garden. Thumbs up for creamy houmus starter from my son.
Control the children
Souk Medina has loads of atmosphere and the inner courtyard is a wonderful setting. Staff were attentive and service very good, although the restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night. However, small children at the table behind us were allowed to shout and jump about their table without any intervention from their parents, and this continued well beyond 9pm. When the beautiful dancer entertained diners, the children joined in! Also the lighting was rather too 'subdued' for our liking - we like to see exactly what we are eating, but the candle-lights were too dim and they were insufficient to light our dishes. The food was very good, plentiful and full of flavour, but overall the ambience of the restaurant was spoiled by noisy children.
Fun night out!
We ended here as a last minute resort and we were not too convinced that it would be good. However the place was a great surprise. Service was super nice and the menu was well priced and quite complete! When food arrived it was super tasty and we could enjoy it while a really nice girl performed a belly dancing show. The decor is also nice. Will definitely go back, it was a really fun night out.
So good souk
Food was very tasty. They had me when I was served falafel and it was moist inside and crunchy out. Mixed grill could have had more mergeze sausage only got 1 and a small lamb slice the rest was chicken. It all tasted fine which made up for the lack in variety.
Food was really delicious with lots of different options - set menu, a la carte, mezze etc. Service was okay, we probably wouldn't have tipped what we did if they hadn't added it on! Drinks were quite expensive - they only sell spirits in doubles so not great for drivers. It's absolutely lovely inside, great decor and ambience with lots to look at.
This restaurant is lovely. great attentive staff.. wonderful atmosphere and the best food. Go if you have not been already.
We went to this restaurant for our anniversary. Romantic dinner with fantastic food and service. It was Wednesday evening and it was pretty busy, so definitely you need to book your table in advance.
You get very decent portions, so would recommend lots of little starters to share (to experience a variety of marroccan food) and a main to share.
Cozy and great atmosphere
I went to Souk with my friend who has never had north African cuisine.
The food was really tasty. I thought a bit too much for two girls.
The one of the stuffs named Laura she was lovely and cheerful person.
Also there was a belly dancer come closer to us which was a little bit too much.
Escape to Souk Medina
Three of us escaped the office and headed to Souk Medina near Seven Dials for a late lunch on a weekday. The set menu had good choices and the portions were very generous. We thoroughly recommend sharing a starter as the hummous and pitta was a huge huge portion! The homemade lemonade was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.
Good food for a good price,
Good food for a good price, with occasional interruption from your dinner to watch a belly dancer.
Certainly worth a visit.
Very good food
You can't go wrong with the toptable offer at this restaurant however even with the offer it came to £45 for two with water to drink. Having said that, the food was fabulous with succulent meat and there was plenty of it.
the staff were very attentive given that the restaurant was very full. The food was amazing, in particular the garlic tiger prawns. The venue itself was very authentic and the evening bellydancer kept the 'up beat' feeling during the evening.
I would definatley come here again, perhaps with a group of friends before a night out!
Went for my birthday meal
Went for my birthday meal and the food was excellent as always. Really lovely evening.
Great ambience and good set menu
We waited for 10 mins for our table but it was Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy. Apart from that we had a great selection of three courses for £19.95 which included shared starters, a main course each and shared desserts and mint tea. All of this was served alongside three episodes of belly dancing which was great fun to watch and they also encourage guests to join in if you have the guts! Not a place for people wanting a quiet private dinner! However it was a lot of fun and I would go again.
Excellent birthday meal
This is my fourth visit to Souk Medina, this time for a birthday celebration, and we had a great time. Fantastic food (we had feast menus and they were absolutely giant!) and the Moroccan decor is lovely, really atmospheric and a bit special.
Excellent value when you have a taste card as we received 50% off all food. My only tip is that if you visit for lunch, they may not have all dishes available (i.e. rice and fish was 'not ready', presumably due to cooking large batches for the evening).
Other than that, recommended!!
Great atmosphere and good
Great atmosphere and good service. Would be great for group occasion (birthdays etc). Food was good, but wouldn't go there just for the food.
Stuck in a corner
The restaurant was stunning so we were disappointed to be seated in a corridor next to a ice machine blasting out heat when we had pre booked the table for a Saturday night. All the other seating looked lovely. Most of the vegetarian food was very good but the Moussaka was a big sickly and my partners tagine was rather fatty. We had a very friendly waitress but felt rushed as the food was brought out and cleared away as soon as we were done with the previous course. Very good humus!
Great for a catchup with friends
I was looking to find a restaurant which had a little extra something to provide a cosy atmosphere as well as great and relatively inexpensive food for a meetup with some friends. The others were still studying so I was conscious of budget and two of us had certain dietary requirements which needed to be worked around. When I rang up to ask a couple of questions the guy on the other end was great. He made good recommendations on what would be the cheapest options and the most suitable to share for a group and confirmed that the food would be cooked in olive oil except deep fried items (frird in vegetable oil). We found lots of friendly waiting staff, a beautiful atmospheric dining space and the food was really flavoursome and filling.
great food and atmosphere!
Really enjoyed it at Souk Medina great moroccan food and a real party atmosphere! Is a great place for large groups and service was very good. Will definitely go back!
Friendly relaxed atmosphere
We enjoyed a pre theatre meal at Souk Mediina. Restaurant buzzing with many diners. Great ambience with Morrocan furnishings and music that wasn't too loud. Service polite, friendly and helpful. Food plentiful, delicious and good value. Ticked all the boxes for what we wanted. Would recommend.
