Tasty food; we couldn't eat it all so it was great we could take it home and enjoy it for dinner the next day - it was still good.
My friend and i went here for her birthday and the food was UNBELIEVABLE! especially the Cheesecake! Was 100% the best cheesecake i have ever had in my life...
space is nice
one of the best things JW steakhouse offers is the bless of space, its the only restaurant in London that you set without having to worry if you bothered the table next to you or not.
the tables are also big, and of course, the food is the best
We have visited JW Steak house several times. And always left happy! But last time the service was very slow and no attention payed to us at all. Otherwise the food is excellent!
Great for special occasions
Very enjoyable dinning experience, exquisite food and nice setting.
Perfect Easter Lunch
We found JW Steakhouse on the Top Table website and the Sunday deal for 2 courses for £24 seemed good value. The menu was also good - not overwhelming but mostly filled with what looked like good roasts for a Sunday. We weren't disappointed at all. The service was impeccable and welcoming, the portions huge and the quality of the food was excellent. One of the best steaks I've ever had in London. We were really so pleasantly pleased and look forward to returning again.
First time at the Grosvenor JW but it will not be the last. From the warm greeting the the friendly bar man the whole evening was a success, my only down side was that we had no room for desert....
Perfect wedding night meal
Absolutely brilliant restaurant. Food was amazing and staff were wonderful. Came here with my wife on our wedding night and were immediately treated with great care. We were taken to the bar area and offered a complimentary glass of champagne each before being seated. We ordered the Tomahawk to share which was cooked with perfection. Nice wine was recommended and we finished with the cheesecake to share (which was delicious, huge and complimentary also). During our meal we were visited by each member of staff in the restaurant and congratulated - we were made to feel extremely special on our big day. I highly recommend the Kentucky coffee to finish off the experience. We will definitely be back!!!
Very nice welcoming and personnel. The food and service were excellent.
The service was excellent
The service was excellent as was the staff's knowledge of their area of expertise. There was a wonderful atmosphere about the place and it was great to see lots of different 'types' of diners from tourists to city workers to a few people who I am sure should have been with their own partners and not somebody else's
We had a problem with seeing the menu as the lights are pretty dim. Great for atmosphere but not great when your eyes are over 50 years old.
Best Steak in London
Unable to get a table at our usual steak favourites Gauch, Hawkesmoor or STK we tried JW steakhouse for the first time. Exceeded our expectations. One of the beast steak meals I have had outside the USA. Will be our first choice in future. Lower score for ambience is because the temperature was far too cold. The restaurant is lovely.
Everthing was perfect. celebrating
Everthing was perfect. celebrating birthday and they arranged a cheesecake to share with lights and a song.
Good food and wine.
great place for eating beef,
great place for eating beef, amazing quality of both the meat and side dishes. will definitely come back.
Heading to London for a theatre trip I wanted to have dinner somewhere nice. I had tried to book a table for Hawksmoor as my wife hadn't been there before, but couldn't get a table until late into the evening.
JW Steakhouse came up when searching and thought we would give it a try. I am really glad we did, as it knocked spots off of my last meal at Hawksmoor. The ambiance is great, the service was very attentive and the food was fabulous. It's not going to be the cheapest night out in town, but its certainly worth saving up for and paying a visit.
We went here for a friends birthday and we were all impressed with the service. Everyone was really friendly and polite from our waiter to the bar staff.
The food is great and the cheese cake is definitely worth having, which was personalised as a birthday cake. To top it off there was a birthday card signed by all the staff at the restaurant. Such a nice touch, thanks for a memorable and enjoyable evening.
Great night great food and big thanks to the staff made it a lovely evening for me and the wife,
A Carnivore's feast
I go back to JW's every time for two things: the USDA beef fillet, black and blue style, and their amazing cheese cake. The cheese cake recipe you can find online, but there is just no way of making that black and delicious sear on your meat yourself. Always cooked to perfection.
Service is mostly outstanding. However this time the waiter made a wine recommendation (a single vineyard malbec) even before asking anything about the price range or style we were looking for, and when we proposed alternatives he dissed them all saying 'oh but that is a blended wine, you don't want that'. FYI - The Federalist (slightly blended) Zinfandel is very good (even if when you order it you get a smug look).
Oh and don't forget to visit their bourbon bar.
A very good spot for American
A very good spot for American fare , excellent steaks and big portions.
I honestly struggle to find any fault at all with this restaurant...from the extremely friendly and efficient service, fantastic steaks to the ambience. Probably not a place to go on a date unless they are real steak lovers, this is an American steakhouse that has been transported to London and the steaks here are of American quality...if you are hungry try the porterhouse steak...superb...and if you have room afterwards, you cannot miss the cheesecake...off the charts. The wine list is very good, great range of prices so something for everyone, but the American Reds section is something else!
We have a teenager with severe food allergies. The restaurant was very accommodating to make sure she had something wonderful to eat. We enjoyed all the selections of beef varieties. The sides were incredible and were very hefty in size. A little pricey but not anything out of the ordinary compared to other restaurants in London of the same caliber. We were so stuffed after our meal, we simply couldn't eat the cheesecake that looked so yummy. Several nights later after touring for 13 hours we went in for soup, salad and the cheesecake. It is worth the calories!!!! We enjoyed everything about the restaurant: the food, our waiter, the manager, the ambiance and the service.
Delicious steak and sides, good quality food with a nice ambience and great service.
Really nice meal, great steak, good service, loved the sweet potato mash with marshmallow, apparently an American classic which surprisingly went very well with the steak. Good music. Enjoyed a lot.
I went here for the first time, with my girlfriend. It was a birthday celebration for me and a celebration for her for landing a huge modelling contract. The food was brilliant and the steaks were so thick and it took a long time to eat them. The Kentucky coffe afterward had a real kick in it and you could taste the Bourbon in it. Very strong. The service was excellent and very attentive. If you want an evening out and want a lovely meal with good service get down to the Grosvenor House and you will not regret it.
Good food and good people
My partner and I booked here as we wanted a change of venue for steak from Hawksmoor and we were pleasantly surprised. The steak was excellent (some people say its charred on the outside but it was hardly so and how else do you expect a good rare steak?) with good portions. I was especially pleased with the staff as they were friendly and attentive without being smothering during the meal. Their advertised special cheesecake really is absolutely delicious and particularly satisfied my baked cheesecake craving. If cheesecake isn't your thing then there are still lovely desserts to try. Definitely will come back here again!
Great steaks and sides
Smart location, nice decor, great steaks and sides with monster deserts. Might not be as trendy a location as some other multi-venue steakhouses but the cook great meat. The waiter described the choice between corn fed beef (USDA) and grass fed (Aberdeen Angus) in a way I'd not heard before as tender (USDA) vs flavour (AA) and he was spot on. Personally, I'd say its USDA all the way, if in doubt try the New York Strip. My only complaint is that they don't have a USDA ribeye on the menu. Great sides, especially the cauliflower gratin when it's on and save room for the cheesecake - can be shared by up to 6 people - but just fab!
Just returned from a week eating at Rick Steins restaraunts in Padstow. The JW steakhouse is up there with the best.
If you want the finest USDA prime steak in the UK , this is the place to go.
Will definitely go again
Fabulous Food and Great Atmosphere
My Mother and I dined at JW Steakhouse for a Birthday meal and everything was wonderful, the staff are pleasant, the food is delicious with such wonderful tastes and the steak which I ordered medium rare was cooked to perfection. It was one of the nicest meals I have had to date.
We were pleasantly surprised when my Mother was presented with an individual (but could have served 4) large cheese cake for a birthday cake which was delightful and a card which had been signed individually by the staff and personlised to my Mum.
You can dress up to dine in this steakhouse but equally you can go casual, you are made welcome and comfortable regardless.
Made to feel very special from the moment we walked into the restaurant.
Best steak we have ever had and the mashed sweet potato with marshmallows on top were a revalation.
My husbands birthday and they decorated the cheesecake into a birthday cake and bought out to the table.
Would recommend to anyone
It's good but it's not Goodmans !!!
A very nice and very well presented meal - steaks cooked to perfection, wine list reasonable, starters and sides were good too. Service very good and courteous not obtrusive. The place really is great but the lighting is a little on the bright side and the dress code - well, there isn't one. At these prices on a Saturday night, you'd expect the clientele to be well heeled - not wearing flip flops and shorts !! OK, it is a hotel restaurant - but we're not talking Holiday Inn - it's The Grosvenor House on London's Park Lane - not Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
I dined at JW Steakhouse for
I dined at JW Steakhouse for dinner and it was my mums birthday, everyone in my party loved the food and my brother wants to go back for his birthday celebration
We had told them when booking a table that we are newlyweds. They gave us champagne and an extra entrée! The service was perfect, food was excellent! The only downside is that we ate too much! I will definitely be coming back here when I visit London again.
Simply put, the best steak house in London and one of the best service in town.
Great 32oz steak and ambience
As a group of 11 we were given the board room which a pleasant surprise. They adjusted the volume, offered a private waiter service for our table and food came promptly and was delicious. Great value considering this is Mayfair and prices were slightly cheaper than gaucho. Will definitely come again.
Possibly the best steaks we have ever had (and we are used to Alberta beef), with very tasty peppercorn sauce. Typical chop house atmosphere, service was fine. Roasted vege side was very good. Dessert (bread pudding) was huge, but not memorable. Room manager was very good, stopping by to chat with diners. We'll be returning!
Our second visit to JW did not disappoint. Everything about it was superb. Shared a 32oz porterhouse with my wife and it was perfect for us. The parker house rolls are so tasty and everyone knows about the cheesecake which was simply amazing again. Can't wait to go back.
Never fails to impress, consistently good, never disappointing. Service attentive without being intrusive, excellent steaks, good choice of wine at a range of price points. Highly recommended.
Fantastic all round - GO!!!!!!
Amazing food, fantastic service, relaxing atmosphere and the price isnt too bad! Have to say extra praise for the welcome and friendliness and service throughout. Other places to eat which may also be considered 'upmarket' can have a poncey or pretentious atmosphere - not here - we both left feeling it was one of best meals we ever had and best place weve ever visited. Must go if you can!
Good Friday outing
Great service and drinks. The steak was done just like ordered (always a plus), but my sauce got forgotten. Great meal nonetheless,
So I'm a really big fan of eating huge American style steak, and visit them quite frequently. I've tried a number of places around the city but my choice steakhouse has to be JW for their consistency in providing awesome food, and good service.
Other steakhouses like Goodman can be hit or miss. I find the steak quality the same as Goodman to JW.... however, from visit to visit, I never know what I'm getting when I go to Goodman, sometimes it's great sometime really sub par... while I always get a high quality steak every time at JW. Sometimes consistency goes a long way. The waitress and managers show you a lot of attention to make sure you're enjoying your dining experience.
Great all round experience! Food was great all round as was the service! Great selection of cocktails!
Perfect setting for our birthday celebrations! Would easily go back and recommend!
We went for a relaxing and leisurely Sunday lunch with friends and that is exactly what we got. We were able to take our time over the meal completely un-rushed by the staff which was lovely. The food was excellent, we had the special set menu which is incredible value for money and just delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and very efficient. Such lovely surroundings to be in also. I highly recommend this restaurant, we have already booked to go back with the whole family.
The staff were so attentive, the food was amazing.
The only minus for me is that the restaurant is a bit too dark, which they do to create ambiance, but it's just a bit too much...
We booked on line for four people and requested a table at the side or window, however as my son decided last minute to invite a friend we telephoned and the steakhouse were happy to make the table for five . We were ,however given a table at the back of the restaurant rather near the kitchen entrance. That was the only disappointment though. The steaks were perfect, a real American taste in London. Desserts are massive, three hungry teenagers only just managing one cheescake! It is pricy but those are London prices. Service was excellent.
Family Celebratory Lunch
We visit JW Steakhouse once a year for a family celebration and the food is consistently good. It is a lightly expensive option for an ordinary lunch but is considerably cheaper than a lunch at Hawksmoor or Goodmans. For a birthday it is ideal. Portions are generous and there are sufficient alternatives to steak for those that are not meatheads. Service is always excellent. In terms of ambience the restaurant is very large and we have never been there when it is really busy so there is sometimes a feeling of emptiness which can be a little is disconcerting. The cheesecake is to die for, and whilst pricy at £12.00 it is large enough to share among at least 4, maybe 6.
Food was delicious, had the
Food was delicious, had the jumbo grilled shrimp, with sweet potato chips and some of the mash. Awesome. Will definitely go again.
Meat is all we love
Atmosphere in this place doesn't remind plane hotel restaurant. It is something much more with unique cuisine, best steaks all over the UK and nice wine menu. When we add to this very helpful waiters and guys at the bar, it seems to be nice place to come back.
It was the first time dinning at jw steak house and I have to say the food and the ambience was fantastic. The staff are very friendly, warm and welcoming. My waiter was a man named Emanuael who made us feel very welcome and was very informative about the different steaks. Being my partners bday they made a nice effort and decorated his desert and all staff signed a card which wad unexpected.
Fantastic experience ... at a price
Definitely not value for money; but the food is excellent and the service is impeccable. The "Oscar" fillet is especially recommended. Be sure to save room for the Bourbon Cheesecake.
Good for business dinners where you want to impress a client or for special occasions that can justify the price tag.
Going the extra mile
OUTSTANDING FOOD OUTSTANDING STAFF OUTSTANDING RESTAURANT. Visited this hotel restaurant twice once was for dinner 8pm a year ago and last week for lunch at about 2pm the food here is consistantly good no differ in taste and the staff are friendly and full of info on the drinks & food atmosphere is suprisingly different to the likes of barbecoa whom are simarly priced and do the same sort of food steak but not as good i would go here JW as the staff here arent trying to get you out of the door asap jamie oliver you need new waiting staff although the lunch was amazing what made the whole visit that little bit better than the last was the waiter at the end gave my daughter a teddy from their hotel shop thats going the extra mile
On arrival to the restaurant we were shown to the bar as they were getting pur table ready for us, the host asked if we were celebrating anything tonight and we said it was our anniversary, champagne was offered straight away which we were not expecting at all so was a great suprise and started off the evening well. The was everything you expect from a steakhouse and more, great bread and a little something from the chef as well. The starters were good but being a steakhouse the main attraction is the main courses! I cant say anymore then great flavoured steaks which were cooked well. My girlfriend had the Oscar which was a fillet topped with crab which was outstanding. We were also offered a complimentary cheesecake. We will be back!!!
