Excellent service and food
The northbank Resturaunt really lived up to expectations. With great views, service and food
Great lunch deal
Lovely surroundings and good food for a great price
Booked a dinner for four. Everyone agreed the food was delicious, though perhaps the portions could've been bigger.
Between us we ordered the melon soup, braised pork collar, foi grase parfait with crumpet, pie of the day (chicken, leek and mushroom) and for dessert souffle with cream tea which was absolutely perfect. We also ordered a side of grilled mushrooms with chorizo but was far too salty. Only one waitress was a little pushy for us to order wine but we just politely refused to each time she asked.
Otherwise good service, a very satisfying meal with a great view of the Thames and the Tate Modern.
Gastronomic delight on The Thames
Excellent location, food and service. Very
attentive staff without being intrusive.
Stunning views across the River Thames.
Superb all round experience.
Relaxing environment and great food
Lovely place, great food and attentive staff will go back again ... Abit pricey but worth it
Out with friends
I had visitors wanting to experience British cuisine, and the Northbank Restaurant made me proud. Nicely located close to the Millennium Bridge we tweened the dinner with a bit of sight-seeing.
We arrived before our booking time and stayed to closing time, we were in fact the last to leave the restaurant. We have been made to feel welcome all the way through.
Four of us were given a booth - plenty of space and a river view - which was perfect for a celebration evening. We started with scallops, crab cakes and beetroot and goat's cheese salad, all of which were delicious. Main courses of hake with caramelised fennel; fillet steak and pork belly - all with a selection of side dishes - had us sending compliments through to the kitchen. How was there room for upside down pudding with ginger custard, cheese board and gooseberry crumble? Who knows... but there was. Service was friendly and helpful. Definitely a restaurant for your list!
Great Thames side location
Great Thames side location - the outdoor terrace is brilliant. Food is very good - the fish dishes in particular were superb.
Nice 2 course menu
We had the 2 course menu plus glass of bubbly offer and I felt it was good value as the food was of nice quality. However do bear in mind that the set menu's food does not contain sides such as potatoes and the "extras" are £3.75 each.
The Northbank has an amazing view of the thames and down the river. If you want to go for a nice meal near the river this is a fantastic option to go to. Food was good and values was good.
Pub Food In Gourmet Style!
I was meeting up with family members who live in London and "know it all" about London dining. I chose this restaurant for location and other reviews on line. It was an outstanding experience. The food was fabulous, from the interesting thought that pork belly and cottage pie could be "gourmet" to the delicious presentation of scallopsas a starter and trout as a main course. Everything was beautifully presented by charming staff. A great evening all around....I think the family members will be back! Certainly next time I am in town!
great view, food and service
i expected more of a bar/pub quality though after walking inside i was pleasantly surprised by the decor, view and food! all were great.
Always a good option for lunch when the sun is shining. One of the best outdoor eating venues in town!
Can work out fairly expensive but the view makes up for it.
Another enjoyable evening
The evening at Northbank was as expected - good food and great service. Nothing else to say really.
Lunch in the sunshine
After a visit to the Shard , we wanted lunch at a reasonable price to celebrate a friend leaving for Down Under !! Booked the special offer of 2 courses and a glass of Bubbly. The view was lovely and we sat outside overlooking the Thames and The Shard. The views are great and prices reasonable. I would recommend it for outside dining near to the Thames
Great food, great location
We ate outside in the sunshine and it was outstanding. The location is excellent, the food was creative and well cooked and the service was great.
I will eat there again for sure.
Location and Food!
The location of Northbank is great - easy to find and great setting on the Thames. I've only eaten here for business, but wouldn't hesitate to dine socially. Eaten both indoors and out - both great experiences, attentive service and superb food - highly recommend.
Good out door lunch
This summer has allowed more outdoor dining than normal and the Northbank Restaurant has an excellent outdoor area that overlooks the Thames and Millenium bridge. Good food and attentive service maks this place worth a visit.
We ate at Northbank on Thurs eve, its a good location with a nice view of the Southbank. No complaints the food, service & wine were all good & prices comparable to other London restaurants. They source food from Cornwall & the fish & scallops we had were first class, would go again & it would be a good location for Sunday brunch/lunch as they have an outside eating area.
Booked this on a Thurs to benefit from the free fizz for ladies on Thursdays which we enjoyed outside as it was a gorgeous evening. Dinner was very tasty - if slightly limited for a veggie. My deep fried squid was lovely, as was the seared river trout - though the salad was missing the shallots as advertised. My friends enjoyed the chicken rillettes and Caesar salad starters, plus the pea & mint risotto. Didn't enjoy the viognier which is normally one of my favourites, however, the espresso martini was lush.
Great food & location - You MUST go
I booked a table here on Saturday 31/08 for dinner following what I hoped would be a successful marriage proposal - which it was. This restaurant was AMAZING - right next to the Thames with a view of the Tate, Millennium Bridge and the Shard.
We were warmly welcomed and congratulated, having noted the proposal on my booking, and even given a complimentary glass of Prosecco to celebrate...what followed was some of the best food I have eaten in a long time!
The pork belly was divine - along with all our food.
The service was great too, friendly but not overbearing.
Visit - you won’t be disappointed!
Nice food great view
Toptable deal is outstanding as is the view. My second time will go again
Great view on the thames, excellent service and outstanding value with the Top Table offer
Nice restaurant in a good location
I went for lunch on a Saturday prior to attending the proms in the Hyde Park. The restaurant was not very busy but had enough people to give some atmosphere. My friend and I sat at one of the raised booths on the left side and had a good view of the Thames and the Globe theatre. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food beautifully presented and delicious. The smoked mackerel pâté was smooth and silky and the pork succulent and served with a lovely jus. (We had the set menu - £22.50 for two courses and a glass of cava reserva.) I can imagine that Northbank would be very busy during the week being situated where it is, near St Paul's Cathedral. I would definitely go there again if I was in the area.
We went on a friday night and the place seem deserted at 1800, but then it was nice to chat and enjoy the view.
The food and service was good, and the place was livening up round about 2000.
Sept. 2013 - Seated immediately
Sept. 2013 - Seated immediately upon arrival. Nice view next to windows/walkway/River. Restaurant informed we were doing dinner before a play. Meal arrived in plenty of time to enjoy it. Taxi service was requested and was promptly there. Staff did a nice job accommodating the patrons.
I went to Northbank with a friend for an early dinner after work on a Wednesday. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived at 6.30pm so we had a drink in the bar area which got busier quite quickly. The food was excellent. 3 choices per course for the TT deal, although sides were extra for the mains. The champagne was very nice and we didn't feel pressured to order wine or order from the main menu. The service was excellent and the views were great. Would definitely return.
Excellent service with great food
Tried the Northbank yesterday evening (Thursday) as we wanted to try somewhere new near St Pauls. Was very well received and taken care of by the staff and the food was both well presented and delicious. Would definitely recommend this to other diners and would love to come again in the summer and really enjoy the riverside view.
Service was impeccable - our Spanish waitress was amazing. Food was excellent although sides of cauliflower and mushrooms and one of our desserts (Eton Mess) were rather mean portions. Lovely ambience on the Thames. All in all, a very good meal that our overseas visiting parents thoroughly enjoyed due to our lovely waitress and fantastic main courses.
Good Cornish Flavours
An excellent client lunch with attentive service, great food, and delicious house wine. The Venison comes highly recommended.
The fact that this is our second visit says it all. We like this place. The service is attentive and friendly. We like the ambience and décor. There were several things on the menu we could have chosen but we both plumped for the grilled plaice which was excellent. As others have said ,you have a lovely outlook over the river . We will return !
We ate here during London Open Day early on Sat evening and had the special two courses and a glass of bubbly for £22.50 deal. The choice was minimal, as expected but both courses were pretty good. We also had a half litre cafe of house wine which was only ok and over priced. Service was good and the location is special but oddly there was almost no atmosphere to speak of. OK place and food overall but pricey.
I cannot believe how I've missed this restaurant for so long. It's easily located to St Paul's and not far from Bank either. Yet down by the banks of the Thames, it's a little difficult to find the first time. However the views to the river are beautiful. Once you step inside you're greeted with a smile, and even the resident restaurant dog is charming. He sits comfortably in the bar area and keeps himself to himself. Meanwhile the restaurant is set so that you can enjoy your intimacy whether you're as a couple or a group, like we were. The food was fabulous. I cannot fault the food I had. Delicious. We had a really pleasant evening and I will definitely be booking this as a venue again. Thank you Northbank!
excellent staff and lovely food
Went there with a friend and the staff an service were excellent, I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. It is not cheap but we did use a MasterCard and got 50% off the food, so it was reasonable.
We arrived at the restaurant to an extremely warm welcome from Mark. We chose drinks in the bar but could have gone directly to the table if we wanted to. There was no rush, great food, service & ambience. It was our first visit but not our last we will definitely go again. 3 mins walk from St Paul's, just perfect even in high heels! Thank you, Nick & Joy from Yorkshire
Worth it for the view
Northbank has a great location with a view of Millenium Bridge, Globe and Tate. Would have been really nice to eat outside (mild October evening) but tables weren't set for it. Service and food very good, lacke a bit of ambience as wasn't so busy. Great if taking a business visitor and wantto feel like in the heart of London. Would definitely come back, particularly in summer.
Perfect for visitors to London
If you have visitors coming to London, and you want to take them somewhere with a special location and view, Northbank is a good choice. It looks across towards Tate Modern, and being very close to the Millennium Bridge, we were able to go up there after dinner and enjoy the views up and down river, of the illuminated buildings and bridges. It's quite a smart restaurant, serving British food, so also a good choice for foreign visitors. Reasonably priced for the quality.
another good business meal
Another good business meal. Good food and helpful staff. Well positioned and efficient service.
Great, but had run out of food!
Great, it wasn't luxurious as I was expecting giving its location, however two friends of mine and I had a great night.
The food was limited as they had very little available that was on the menu, that aside the food they did produce was lovely.
Also booking Top Table 1000 points and 50% off food on taste card - It really is a real fantastic bargain!
Beside the great room/venue, the view when you seat by the window is stunning. The food is excellent. If I had just one negative comment it would be about the service. The waitress was far too much on our back and when we wanted her, she was nowhere to be seen. I definitely recommend the place. Good quality food at reasonable price. I will bring more people to Northbank.
A special dinner with old friends
A warm welcome, and efficient passage to table. Great initial timing with service. The food was fantastic but were left a little too long towards the close of the dinner which lead to a 'prompt' departure. This did not detract greatly from a very successful evening and we would certainly visit again!
Superior dining at Northbank
A fantastic dining experience! My expectations of Northbank Restaurant were exceeded in every way. Simply stunning food quality (the combination of smoked eel and beetroot is to die for!), and some unusual menu choices (such as pig's cheek, which was so succulent). Staff were exemplary in their knowledge and helpfulness. One dietary allergy was specified at booking time, and on arrival, without prompting, the waitress presented a list of possible menu options to cater for that need. Also, try the Cornish fruit mead as a digestif - the bar manager even let us sample all four flavours to help us choose! To cap it all, a stunning location between St Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. If only all restaurants could be of such quality!
Excellent! I can't wait to go back
What an excellent business lunch. The service was exceptional: friendly, and attentive when we needed it, but the staff kept their distance, other than to top up our wine glasses, when we were deep in conversation.
The restaurant was light and airy with views across the river. There is a small wall between the restaurant and the river but this didn't detract from the view. Other advantages were that the restaurant wasn't too loud so we could carry on a conversation - not always the case in London, also the tables are not too packed together as in many restaurants.
Altogether a really pleasant lunch in a lovely restaurant with nice food and great service. I have many business lunches in London and Northbank is top of my list to revisit.
An excellent venue - friendly, attentive with a very good menu and well-presented dishes. A brilliant view across the Thames at night made the good even better. The service was outstandingly good right up to the booking of a taxi at the end. Cannot recommend the Northbank too highly !
A great riverside meal
The Northbank is a hidden gem. It was excellent in terms of quality, service and views of the Thames. The whitebait was the best I've had in a long time, the pork and fish were also delicious and the portions were ample. Service was fast but not too intrusive. Highly recommended.
Great evening in a great spot!
Me and my fiancé had a great meal at northbank... Lovely atmosphere, great food and service! All round top place and would definately go back!
Souffle to die for
We ate here last week and the food was fab overall as it has been on previous visits but special mention must go to the Pear Souffle with Armagnac sauce which we shared as we were quite full. Truly spectacular and my friend thought that it was probably the best desert that she had ever eaten. It was very, very good indeed.
Loved everything about this place
Great food, great staff, great view of the river at night. 10/10.
Great location, good food and lovely comfortable seats. Good service. Excellent dinner overall. Would go again.
Preis Leistung Spitzenklasse. 50€ für 3 a la carte Gänge und 2 gläser Wein.
Wir kommen wieder.
