The French Table
Excellent in every department. We have been a number of times and the food, wine and service have never disappointed.
We will definitely go again.
Food and service always very impressive, no problem recommending this place..
A really beautiful meal
This was our first visit to The French Table to celebrate our 26th Wedding Anniversary as well as our daughters recent GCSE results and we had a wonderful evening
Would recommend and will visit again in the future
Thank you for an evening to remember
The meals we had were amazing. Locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection. Great range of choices on the menu: fish, game and meat, with an extensive wine list, delicious desserts and a comprehensive cheeseboard. We had heard excellent comments about the restaurant.. What a find. Will definitely go back, the bill was not extortionate, the food was exceptional. We usually book Michelin star restaurants for birthdays/ anniversaries, the meal we had at The French Table was up there with restaurants like Petrus, Heston's Dinner, Chez Bruce and much better than The Ivy!
We had heard from several groups of friends that the food was good, but were surprised at just how good it was! We have eaten in 7 of the world's top 10 restaurants and the food here could rival any of them; it really is that good! We booked a few weeks in advance for a double birthday celebration and we're very glad we decided to give The French Table a try. The service was very attentive without being intrusive and the ambience was perfect. We had the tasting menu and 2 out of 4 had the recommended wines to accompany each course. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be booking again ourselves.
Best Food in Surrey
we have been to the French Table a number of times and the food is always first rate and has a changing Menu. The only way to eat better food is to go in to London. We had the tasting Menu this time at £45 which was for 5 courses of excellence. the only problem with the Restaurant is you have to book so far in advance as it's so popular!!
We had an excellent dinner, with outstanding, very attentive service. Our only negative comment would be that the tables are too close together meaning you are obliged to hear the conversation from the next table. It is certainly not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Lunch at French Table
I took an old friend to the French Table as he had previously taken me for a number of meals in London. The food and service was quite excellent. We had the two course lunch plus a small carafe of wine and two coffees and the bill came to £65 including two coffees and 12.5% service which for the quality of the food was very good value. Superb bread was also supplied free as was tap water ( no pressure to buy expensive bottled water). We had the lightly battered prawns and a delicious special starter. Followed by a Bavette of Beef and Lamb. All the food was outstanding. Service was friendly and very helpful. Would recommend.
Great food as usual, friendly and prompt service. Very impressed that they asked what the occasion was and decorated table accordingly! Only minor quibble is that it's a bit "intime" (i.e. squashed, tables are close together).
Five of us went for a sixtieth birthday lunch. Outstanding food in a great ambience with pleasant relaxed service. Will definitely go again.
A gem in Surbiton!
This was our second visit to this lovely restaurant and it was just a good as the first time we went there. The menu is exciting and intriguing, we were very comfortably seated in a pleasant table in the window and the wine list is excellent. Service is very good and we had a delightful evening with very good friends. We will return.
Good welcome and prompt pre dinner drinks. G&T for David and Prosecco -not the best and not that cold. D had the special starter prawn and plaice dish very light. I had the terrine cos I like terrine but what was missing was a nice chutney to give it some taste. Mains were Cod for me and Halibut for David both delicious. D had a half bottle of Muscadet £17 and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Desserts were very good Mille Feuille accompanied by a glass of Coteaux du Layon for D and a choc fondant for me, OK. good coffee to finish. quite noisy later
What annoyed me was that wine by the glass was only 125ml which is only two or three mouthfuls. Our usual Friday night restaurant (same price) measures 175ml. Total bill was £135 incl service
We have dined at the French Table before so we had high expectations we were not disappointed fantastic flavors with all the dishes
This was our third time at
This was our third time at this restaurant and every time We go surprise us with something. Exceptional food, excellent treatment. Definitely a special place to go and enjoy.
We went for the tasting menu and were very impressed by the quality from pre starter to pudding platter. The staff were very happy to provide an alternative choice to fit with our preference. Excellent value at £45 pp.
Booked The French Table for my girlfriends birthday on a Thursday night. As soon as we walked in the staff all wished her Happy Birthday, which was a real nice touch. We love our food and have been luckily enough to eat at some decent restaurants in London. The French Table is easily on a par with those, with the benefit of being local to us. We both had the beef for a main and it was amazing. The menu is priced at a level you would expect for the quality of food and wine. I thought initially the beef was expensive, but it was so good I would be happy to pay that again. We're looking forward to returning with friends and family.
One of the best restaurant that I've recently visited!
Food is simply outstanding
And really reasonable priced
Looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary we took up the recommendation from several friends to choose the French Table. We were delighted with every aspect of the evening - the setting, the service and the food.It was a special event and the restaurant supported this in every way. No adverse comments - all delightful. Thank You..
As always, The French Table never disappoints. Beautiful food, amazing service, looking forward to visiting again soon!!
Excellent food and wine
We treated another couple to the French Table dining experience in belated celebration of our Ruby Anniversary. It did not disappoint. We all had the tasting menu with matching wines enhanced by interesting descriptions for us by knowledgeable staff.
The French Table is one of my favourite places to eat. The food is fantastic and the service is charming. Definitely worth the trip!
A little cramped for a table
A little cramped for a table of six in the window. Service was generally attentive though we had to refill glasses ourselves and felt we had to attract attention from time to time. Second bottle of red was not opened when ordered.
But a good experience and we will come back.

Always a treat
Had a early birthday celebration for my husband at the French Table. As always the food and service were impeccable, the wine list a joy. In all a lovely way to celebrate a big birthday. A restaurant well worth traveling to.
Had a sensational lunch at the FT this week. Superb food and everything you expect from a top top experience.
We visisted The French Table
We visisted The French Table after a few years absence and were thoroughly delighted to have returned. Excellent food and service and wonderful little touches. When they called to confirm my booking they asked if it was for a celebration, and then took the effort to congratulate my husband on his new job when we arrived.
Felt special on my birthday
The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much effort for them. The food was great and as it was my birthday the dessert I ordered came out with a happy birthday message decorated in sauce across the plate . I am already thinking of a special occasion to revisit :-)
it's been a year since my last visit to the French Table in Surbiton as I live some distance away, but I MUST make the effort to go more regularly. All tables were occupied on a midweek night - and it's not difficult to see why. They present a varied and eclectic menu - this a Michelin star food without West end prices, and they have a terrific wine list as well. service is good, and the owners Eric and Sarah are always chatting to their customers, getting great feedback.
a neighbourhood gem, that never fails to impress.
Booking ahead to ensure a table, as previously I had always been disappointed to find it full, I now understand why. The food was excellent and the service very good, and all at a price for which I have often been served lesser food elsewhere. It looked as though many of the customers were regulars, and I am tempted to become one myself. Highly recommended.
So great to find an excellent restaurant in the suburbs. We went for lunch again as that is the only time we get free of the children. Food and service were great, not quite Waterside Inn, but then neither is the bill. We had a great time with excellent French food.
em's birthday meal
i love the french table. as always, the food was amazing. great for a special occasion.
Even better than usual
We had lunch last Saturday at the French Table, and the food was just perfect, from starter to desert. We took friends who had not been to TFT before, and they were delighted. The 'marmite' was perfect, the sishimi exquisite, and for the main, we had to fight to decide who made the better choice , between the lamb, the Ox cheek and the pork belly. My desert, the ginger bread and butter pudding was also a nice surprise, and a nice expresso.
The waiters just struck the right balance between formal and relax, and are clearly experienced. Only one thing: our Julienas was served a bit warm, where I was expecting it slightly chiller than room temperature, but hey, franckly, that did not spoil the experience.
TFT is just getting better and better!
Its always good at the french table
A great lunchtime meal, food wine and service all excellent. You get what you pay for and its worth it, real value for money. Made a fuss of me for my 60th birthday. If you want to celebrate anything book this restaurant.
As regulars at TFT we know we are guaranteed delicious food and great service - perfect for family occasions.
From the delicious bread to begin with (recommend the chorizo!) to the very lovely dessert wines it is always a wonderful taste experience in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Would love to recommend it but fear it will become even harder to get a table!!
We always enjoy going to The French Table and keep it for special occasions. The food is excellent and there is a splendid Gallic air about the whole place. You feel as though you are in France and what could be better than that?
Best restaurant in the area by miles. Quality of food for the price is sensational.
Central London quality in leafy surbiton.
Good all rounder
We really enjoyed our lunch at The French Table. The food was delicious, and the service attentive. Great value on their set menu too. We will definitely be going back.
TFT offers seriously good food with excellent wines, all served beautifully.
The tasting menu showed creative combinations in all dishes. Excellent wines are available by the small glass, which makes it easy on drivers to keep within limits while enjoying an excellent gastronomic evening.
Really special food, beautifully
Really special food, beautifully presented. The service is very friendly and efficient. I've only ever tried the set lunch here which is excellent value. A high class restaurant which is both welcoming and unpretentious..
Fantastic food, we had the
Fantastic food, we had the taster menu which was delicious. Great attention to detail, excellent service, knowledgable but not stuffy service. A lovely place to have a special meal.
Good food in nice surroundings.
Good food in nice surroundings. Attentive, friendly staff. Excellent value.
another great meal
Yet another good experience at The French Table. My wife and I dined there for her birthday, and although the service got off to a slow start (not greeted as we entered, and long time to get drinks order taken) it got better from there. Food was, as always, excellent. Love the shared desert platter - and the macaroons are excellent!
Usual Excellent Meal. Lovely
Usual Excellent Meal. Lovely flavours, with first class service.
French Tablelived up to expectation
I have been to the restaurant on a number of occasions with business groups and client meetings, we arranged a lunch with friends and the food was as always excellent with a great choice on the lunch menu, wines were reasonably priced and the overall bill was very good value. Many Thanks and Well Done!
lovely food, lovely place
Nice ambience and outstanding value for money for the level of high quality food.
Perfect food , perfect service !
Great food with great service , cannot be faulted !
Why travel to London?
The French Table serves food of the standard that you'd find in some of the very famous restaurants in London, We were a table of four celebrating a Birthday and once we'd made the difficult choice of what to eat, we settled in to some reasonably priced Pinot Noir and fairly soon our starters arrived. The slow cooked pheasant breast starter was amazing so too was the main course Monkfish wrapped in potato with Cornish Lobster, Coco de Paimpol beans and a lobster and vanilla sauce. I could have eaten the whole dish again as it was delightful. The Chocolate fondant was perfection. The service was very friendly and attentive and they remembered that it was a birthday celebration with some nice touches. No need to go to London!
We went to celebrate my birthday and, as usual, had a wonderful time. Amazing food, great service and fantastic value for money. It is THE best place to enjoy a special occasion. They never fail to impress.
Outstanding meal, one of the best restaurants in the suburbs and has been consistently good over several visits. Will continue to frequent with pleasure
Special evening at the French Table
The French Table never fails to deliver! The welcome is warm and friendly, Sarah is a fabulous hostess and her staff are well trained and knowledgeable. The choice of dishes always makes the decision difficult but on this occasion we had the tasting menu with matched wines which was excellent. I had booked our table 3 months in advance for a special occasion and we had a wonderful evening. We feel so fortunate to have TFT in our neighbourhood; it deserves all the praise and accolades.
A haven of amazing food in Surbiton
Every time I come here I am grateful that Sarah and Eric set up business in Surbiton! The most amazing 'marmite' (sorry if misspelt!) - a saffron cream broth packed with seafood under a golden crust as starter.A standout was the rabbit tart. And the venison main melted in the mouth. For me, the monkfish wrapped in potato was the star turn! Our friend has food allergies which we'd told them about beforehand - our specific table waitress had memorised, and was careful always to triple-check on any questions he had. She was truly outstanding. The chef even - in the moment - made a speci version of a dessert my friend really wanted to try. And the cheese -as always - was amazing with a wine list to match. Thank you again - as always!!
