Took my girlfriend to The Daffodil for our anniversary. Excellent meal, and the staff were very helpful and courteous. The meal was quite expensive, but given the quality of the food and overall experience still gave great value for money. If I was being hyper critical, I would say my starter could have been a little bigger, but that's only because it was delicious and I wanted more!! The Circle bar upstairs is also a great place for a per/post dinner drink. Overall a lovely evening, and I will be going back.
We weregiven an excellent
We weregiven an excellent table allowing us a great view of the live jazz and had great service. A lovely atmosphere and great food.
A beautiful setting..excellent service...wonderful entertainment - was there for Monday Jazz evening. Had one night in Cheltenham and we were thrilled to spend it at Daffodil
Gorgeous Food- Amazing architecture
Loved the food. Recommend the scallop starter and cod main. Really lovely atmosphere, relaxed and friendly. Art Deco building is stunning. Great cocktails too...
Brilliant night out with Jazz
Excellent welcome and we were very happy to be upstairs as requested. The food and service are always excellent but as a keen vegetable eater I would have preferred a few more with my lamb without having to add extra to my bill.
The Jazz was disappointing as it was very much background music which I am sure suits some people but it was one of the main reasons for coming to the Daffodil. More Cleo Lane type singing would have been wonderful.
Thank you for a lovely evening
Love the feel of this restaurant.
Love the feel of this restaurant. Although large it can also feel intimate. Food is superb. Had the early dining menu this time. The food was as superb as the food from the full menu. Staff are great and attentive without being overpowering.
Lovely dining experience.
Lovely dining experience. Very good food. Lots of good choices. Outstanding service. Excellent wine steward!
I was looking for a restaurant to book for dinner for myself and 3 friends, who were visiting Cheltenham on a weekend away. I felt some pressure, as I was entrusted to find somewhere suitable for my discerning friends. We were not disappointed. The fantastic service made it a very special experience. We found the waiters extremely helpful and friendly, and they set the relaxed tone of the place. One particular highlight for me was the dessert platter, which was a delicious selection of amazing desserts - the perfect end to the meal.
Flower of Cheltenhsm
Fantastic meal as always at the Daffodil as always. The food is always excellent but it is also well staffed and the cinema setting makes it a great atmosphere. A gem in Cheltenham
The service from the moment we stepped into the door was attentive and outstanding. Try the Willey Wonker cocktails they are to die for!
Our food was superb we both had scallops and sirloin steak, the flavours and presentation were the best we have had for a very long time. We never had desserts as we are not big eaters but are sure it would have been as good as the rest of the meal.
Cannot wait until we are in the area again to go back and have another superb night out.
Thank you Daffodil Team.
Food great coupled with a wonderful ambiance. A packed restaurant on a Monday night tells you all you need to know!
An absolutely perfect night. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the staff and the setting were all fabulous!
I really could not praise the Daffodil enough, it was a great experience and certainly somewhere we will be going to again.
The Daffodil was recommended to us by a freind who had been some time ago, so we booked for our wedding anniversary. I have been lucky enough to go to many top rated restaurants in my time but can honestly say this is right up there with the best of them. The food was exceptional and the service was first class. I shall be telling everyone I know about it. The only disappointment was not having enough time to have 3 courses as we had to go to the theatre!!
A lovely family lunch. We
A lovely family lunch. We were placed next to the band (to drown out any noise from errant children?), which was a little overpowering. The food and wine were very good and highly recommended.
A fantastic find!
Great venue, excellent service and fantastic food. If you are in the area this is definately one to visit.
Really great evening, quite
Really great evening, quite possibly my favourite restaurant in Cheltenham!
Back to the 30s
Excellent service: courteous and efficient. Great Art Deco ambience. Live music a bit too loud (not unusual these days) for easy conversation. Meal very good apart from the Asian style duck which was hard and dry and the radish salad which was a bit lacking in radish.
Indulge and make the most of it
The upstairs friendly bar staff will always smile and keen to make recommendations for cocktails. The steak is the best in Cheltenham !
Great All round experience!
I took my wife to The Daffodil for a Birthday treat as she had mentioned it a few times and had never been before.
The staff were brilliant and gave great service throughout the evening.
The food was absolutely delicious and to top it all the bill was probably 10 to 20% less than I guessed it would be - We had 3 courses each , drinks and a coffee each and the total was £88 including a 10% service charge. Fantastic Value for such a lovely dining experience.
Great evening out
Exceptional surroundings with much of the original art deco touches remaining. Service was excellent but not instrusive. The food lived up to the reviews which I had previously read
For those who do not wish to pay the price of the a la carte menu they offer a 3 course set menu (with options) at a reasonable price at luch and early evening (before 7pm)
I would highly recommend the Daffodil
FIRST TIME AT THE DAFFODIL
My partner and I had a quite outstanding evening last Wednesday. The reconstruction of the old cinema into a restaurant has been done outstandingly well, with the resulting ambiance being a great mixture of sophistication and nostalgia. The idea of cocktails before the meal and serving them in what was clearly the 'Circle' was an attractive feature; the food was excellent as was the service and I would certainly recommend The Daffodil to friends and would return myself.
A very nice meal in a very
A very nice meal in a very nice atmosphere with pleasant staff, good food, good wine excellent ambiance. We've already recommended to friends and colleagues
Fabulous foodie heaven
Great restaurant housed in a stunning former Art Deco cinema. Delicious food, stylish surroundings and attentive, but not overly-imposing staff. A real haven away from the hustle and bustle of town! Quite often there is jazz playing on a Saturday lunch-times. Good choice of dishes and a budget-friendly dailies menu which we enjoyed on our visit this time.
Great fun for a birthday celebration in the evening.
Staff very friendly.
Good quality music, but a bit of en echo if you sit close to the stage.
My daughter said it was the best food she's had for a long time.
A real gem of a restaurant!
Converted from a magnificent art deco cinema this is one of my favourite local restaurants. With live jazz on monday evenings and at saturday lunch times this is not to be missed for a special treat. There is a lovely bar upstairs in what used to be the circle with sweeping staircases on either side to the ground floor dining area. The food was excellent with a good and not overly expensive wine list.
Amazing building, lovely atmosphere
Amazing building, lovely atmosphere and fantastic food!
Fantastic, ambience, food and service. Martinis are to die for!!
The conversion of this old cinema into a really top-class eating establishment has been done with considerable charm and has left the Dining Area with just the right Ambience.
So, the surroundings are great, but what about the food itself.
Well, here, one is not disappointed either because the meal we chose for our Anniversary Celebration was fantastic. In fact, we had taken 2 Family Friends here a fortnight previously and it was that meal that made us decide to re-visit The Daffodil again.
I highly recommend this Restaurant to anybody - superb !!
jazz on saturday
wonderful easy listening music while we ate
service was slow taking order and delivering meals
barperson upstairs very efficient and friendly
The atmosphere was great right from us walking in. The natural ambience of the building was further enhanced by the jazz group that played during lunch. The menu was varied and the food freshly cooked and of an excellent standard.
A great place to come for a special lunch or evening meal.
Good Quality Food, Very well Cooked
We had starters and the Chateaubriand main. The meat was exceptionally well cooked and very well presented and overall quite good value. At £52 for 2 this isn't that far off what you would pay for 2 steaks of much lower quality elsewhere.
We also enjoyed a number of cocktails in the bar which were very good and again well presented although service in the bar area was a little slower.
This was our first time at this uniquely set restaurant. We'd read good things, heard good things; it really delivered. The food was exceptional (it was always going to be after a couple of the Oliver Reed cocktails and a few glasses of Prosecco in the Circle Bar!) I don't mean to detract from the chefs' work, it truely was fantastic. The presentation of food was great, the waiters and waitresses very friendly and attentive whilst being discreet and the live jazz music and singer set it all off fantastically. We'd love to be able to eat at The Daffodil more often but we'll have to save between meals as it's pricey; you get what you pay for I guess!
Good food, attentive service. Disappointed that sat on a table of 2 in middle of room when there were other booth options. Cocktails expensive.
Amazing place, a converted
Amazing place, a converted cinema done in Art Deco style. Very expensive but if I wanted to push the boat out for a special occasion then I'd definitely go again.
Excellent food, delightful environment and cheap champagne on a Friday!!
Dining during the Paddy Power
As we were staying over for the horse racing a friend recommended this restaurant. From the very first time we set foot into the establishment the attention from staff was impeccable and always with a smile on their faces. Nothing was too much trouble. The starter of scallops on a thick slice of bacon was sublime. The fillet steak ordered to be cooked medium and it arrived medium
wonderful night. great food.
wonderful night. great food. excellent service, some kind of background music i feel was needed.
Top of our list for a family lunch.
We just love having lunch on Saturdays. The food is very good and well presented, the Jazz music is really enjoyable…
Sooo relaxing for a good quality/price when you take the set menu.
One of our favourites in Cheltenham
From a gourmet family
Excellent meal, lovely cocktails.
Excellent meal, lovely cocktails. The "optional" 10% service charge that is added automatically to your bill always winds me up a bit
Although we live in the area, we had not eaten at the Daffodil until Saturday. We took the opportunity as we had friends down for the weekend so all eight of us went. Every single person thought the food was superb. The staff were welcoming and efficient and when one of the party quizzed a waiter about the history of the restaurant he was surprised that he knew plenty about it.
None of us would hesitate to return, and my wife has already decided we will be going again soon.
Fantastic Bday surprise
Brought my boyfriend for his birthday on a Mon pm - the Jazz was fantastic, the private booth was perfect. The whole evening was just perfect from the service and food to the atmosphere, thank you! I even dropped in the bday present before dinner and it was ready and waiting on the table when we arrived, could not have been more helpful here.
Loving the Daffodil
The service and food were both excellent especially the dessert plate for sharing ! There is a great buzz around the place but we were a bit disappointed the bar was closed for a private function. Having said that we still had a brilliant time and we will definitely be going back.
We were not initially offered the "early bird" menu and had to ask for it. When we chose from this menu it proved to be excellent value.
Fabulous atmosphere, certainly
Fabulous atmosphere, certainly a one-off restaurant and brilliant professional service by the staff
Delicious Discovery Menu
Really enjoyed our Discovery Meal at the weekend. Perfectly balanced menu and well paced. Particularly liked the fish cup to start with and the Chateaubriand was good to perfection. Always a delight to eat at The Daffodil. Very good jazz trio playing too.
The whole party was impressed not just by the food but by the outstanding service and decor.
great food and atmosphere
Good food, good service, history and decoration make the place interesting and unique. Saturday lunch jazz sessions makes a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Best Birthday Lunch in Years
We arrived shortly after noon and were met by a lovely hostess and shown to our table. Shortly after a very pleasent and attentive waiter was looking after us, taking our drinks order and making his menu recommendations. Then my Aged Martini arrived (a recipe that I am still trying to perfect) and a then our food order was taken. I had a double baked cheese soufle followed the best fillet streak I have had in years with a green peppercorn souce and a few perfectly cooked fries and grilled tomatoes, all helped along with a great Merlot. I topped this off with an excellent chocolate fondant.
After ten years living in the area I have finally found the perfect restaurant which I look forward to returning to again soon.
Awesome character and matching food
My wife and I came here for our 13 anniversary and they did a fantastic job of looking after us. I had asked for them to call to see if there was something small but special we could do and had a bottle of champagne waiting at our table. We arrived early to have drinks in the bar which was buzzy, but not overcrowded. Could have used a second person on the floor to help the one very competent waiter covering the bar, just to speed up service. Our table was amazing, up in the balcony looking over the floor and kitchen. Really appreciated having a huge booth for just the two of us giving us a very private dining experience. Food was excellent, usual fine dining mains and wine list was short but very competent. Great evening out!
What a night out!
A wonderful evening out - good food, excellent ambience, attentive but not obtrusive service, relaxed and comfortable experience. Highly recommended!
