We ate here to take advantage of the great view of the city at sunset. The food and service are excellent and the view is wonderful. I would recommend this for all visitors.
The view from our table was stunning as the sun set and the lights came on. It made it a very special experience. The food lived up to the location with my wife's lamb being particularly good. It's not cheap but it's certainly a dining experience to remember.
We wsent there to see the
We wsent there to see the great race on the Thames and it was great. The lunch was very good, a little bit expansive but very Nice.
an exceptional lunch venue
I met up with an old friend from USA who hadn't been to the South Bank for some time. Booking was easy. We were able to sit & talk before our booked time. I was delighted to find we had been allocated my requested table so the view and ambience were fantastic.
The menu was very appealing & we made use of the wine recommendations. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We both chose two starters plus dessert.
The service was just right. Staff were there when needed but we were left to enjoy our lunch.
For us the whole experience could not have been improved on.
Booked the Tate at short notice not expecting to get one of the well reviewed window seats, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The view is truly stunning through ceiling to floor windows, you can easily see people walking across The Millenium Bridge and along the Southbank.
Starters not great for me as allergic to fish but great chicken main and the chocolate raspberry & pistachio tart highly recommended! Attentive service, quite busy and only noisy due to large group celebration. Was nice break after fab visit Meschac Gaba's Museum of Contemporary African Art.
Will definitely visit Tate restaurant again.
We just felt comfortable from the first minute.
Friendly and fast service, fabulous wine suggestions, delicious dishes!
From our table we had an amazing view over the Thames, St. Paul's ...!
Just a perfect place!
Dining with a spectacular view! Very good food, a wonderful british wine and very friendly service!
Surprised by the quality
We were a groups of 5 french girls and we were positively surprised by the quality of the foods (In a museum restaurant). The service is really pleasant.
A special place
If you want a relaxed place to meet with friends, whilst enjoying good food and wine at reasonable prices, then go to Tate Modern's restaurant. The main dishes were delicious, and the cheesecake for dessert was presented beautifully. The cheese board was generous. Service is attentive without being intrusive. The views across the Thames to St Paul's are incomparable.
My friend was very pleasantly surprised at the views from the restaurant. We both loved the atmosphere. The staff let us make a minor change to a dish, replacing one ingredient with another. We both had the three course meal, motnwanting to miss out on the excelent deserts. ooking was easy and I received a call a day ahead of out visit to inform me the menu had just changed.
Great place for special occasion
I would highly recommend the tate Modern restaurant for a special occasion dinner. The views are inspiring, the food was terrific and the service friendly and helpful. Overall a fun and memorable evening.
delighted to get a table with
delighted to get a table with a river view and weren't rushed to leave after eating
Cracking restaurant lowered by loos
Our second time at Tate modern. The view over the Thames to St. Paul's is outstanding, on both occasions we have dined at dusk and enjoyed the spectacle of an illuminated St.Pauls.
Food is impeccably cooked and very tasty. The menu is a little limited, but what the Tate modern do do, they do very very well.
Service is superb, despite having a seat right by the window at 6pm, we were not hurried away to make room for the next diners. In fact our waiter even offered to let us sit and enjoy the view for a while before bringing the bill.
One thing I dislike though is having the waiter top up water/wine for us. I know they're trying to help, but a "Would you like me to..." costs nothing.
Toilets are very poor for a restaurant of this standard.
impress the relatives
We were a table of 6 entertaining our Canadian cousins - who were bowled over with the view. The staff were great with our 8 year old too.
Menu was great as there was plenty of choice but not too much - although the main course portions weren't huge with bread offered and sides to sharte there was enough.
The wine list is a good well chosen ecletic mix with prices suiting all wallets.
In brief: Outstanding view and food, loved the wine/beer pairing and the cheese board for dessert was fabulous. Service was polite but inattentive. The waiter, who was very nice, managed to take our order without asking us about what we were going to drink. I caught his attention and requested the pairing. Then they brought the first dish and no pairing. I notified a different waiter and he ran off and the sommelier came soon afterwards. After this initial hiccup everything else was fine. Had it not been for the initial turnoff, I would´ve rated the restaurant higher. with the view it has, the potential for an amazing overall experience is there.
Food was excellent, very tasty
Food was excellent, very tasty and nicely presented. Managed to get a window seat, so had a great view over to St Pauls and the City. Service was friendly and punctual even though the restaurant became busy.
Sunday Lunch Tate Modern Restaurant
Sunday Lunch at the Tate Modern Restaurant was relaxed and very 'Sunday' - we had all the time we wanted so the fact that service was a bit slow was fine by us. Food was tasty but sometimes a little scant for the price which was frustrating but the South African wine we chose made up for it! With amazing views I would recommend coming to this restaurant for any special occasion or treat - felt quite special although it wasn't particularly intended to be.
Dinner on late night opening
A quick and simple reservation process on line gave a window table view of St Pauls at short notice. Menu a little predictable but presentation and cuisine was excellent. Portions of starters could be larger.
Good wine list, with suggested matchings working well
Our Farewell Dinner to London
We visited London for the first time and on our last night I wanted to have dinner at a special place with a spectacular view of the City. I found it with the Tate Modern Museum Restaurant. The view of St. Paul's Cathedral was magnificient. Our food was very good albeit a little pricey. I am not convinced the quality of the food warrants the price but I expect we were paying for the view as well. However, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we would return again next time we visit London.
CItyscape and Cuisine
We had an excellent lunch here. The view was superb and we were delighted our online request for a window table was granted. The cuisine complemented the view; it was skilfully cooked, well presented and good value. My wife began with mushroom pâté followed by Suffolk chicken breast and I started with smoked trout (a superior substitute, to my palate, for the unavailable smoked mackerel on the menu) followed by baked lemon sole. For dessert my wife had a fruit platter that she found particularly delicious and I had a tasty glazed lemon tart on a plate the chef had decorated with Damien Hirst dots! We drank a carafe of rosé and an espresso. The service (especially our main waitress, Anna) was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
Food with a view
We were lucky enough to have a window table which is such a bonus as there is so much of interest to look at. We had a lunch and were absolutely delighted with the sea bream and the pork fillet and the desserts were to die for.The service was faultless, professional but friendly. It was a most enjoyable occasion. This was our third visit and there will be many more.
Had a lovely afternoon tea
Had a lovely afternoon tea here, food was great and views spectacular.
Service was excellent
Over running lunch
Even though my boss was 45 minutes late for the meeting and it ran top 3 and a half hours in all, the staff at Tate Modern couldn't have been nicer and more understanding. The service was wonderful the food was great, I would highly recommend!
Good food and fabulous view
The best view in London overlooking St Paul's cathedral, very good food at reasonable prices.
Improved since my last visit, good menu, food well presented and good service, very busy, window tables hard to get even when requested when booking. Good view if you do manage to get a window table!
Tate Modern View
Wonderful views of London's Thames and north bank by night, accompanied by good food. Perfect following a date at the gallery working your way up to the sixth floor restaurant.
Tremendous view of the city
The Tate is great for dinner but perhaps even better for a glass of wine or a coffee in the afternoon when you could lounge at their bar and admire the city from the South Bank.
Stunning views and food
Went for girlfriends birthday got window seat, had the duck which was cooked perfectly and the cheesecake for dessert was also brilliant. Our waitress was fantastic too. Will be returning for sure
We had an American friend with us and were given a window table at 8 pm on a Friday evening. The setting was superb. The food very good and the wine list also excellent. The service was very good too and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Decent dining allied to splendid
Decent dining allied to splendid art is a great combination, especially if it can be accommodated on a Saturday evening. The food was surprisingly good; the fish and risotto were especially well-prepared. Above all, the reception from the manager to our ever-obliging waiter was outstanding.
Booked a window table- excellent
Booked a window table- excellent view and unusual, healthy food. Didn't have to wait very long, although fairly crowded with good service.
Lunch 31 Nov 2013
Tasty food, good service but very small portions and very limited menu. You will need another meal quite soon afterwards. Lovely view though.
Booking a table is well worthwhile
We had lunch at 1:45 between two exhibitions. We booked the night before, and requested a riverside view. We were delighted that our request was fulfilled, it added so much to the event. The queues for a table of any kind were continuous until 2:30, so booking even a short time in advance was well worth while.
The service was delightful - attentive, relaxed, friendly. For example, our shared glass of pudding wine was served in two glasses, without us asking.
The menu was innovative, without being amaxing. We enjoyed combinations we hadn't tasted before, and will be experimenting with mushroom and walnut pate, and sole with celariac, for dinner parties soon.
Overall a very good experience, enhancing our celebratory day out in London
The food was good, the service
The food was good, the service was friendly and efficient, and the view was spectacular. What more could you want?
Good spot for a business lunch, fast service and fine views.
Food not as good as I remember from last year and utterly disappointed that rib eye steak was not on the menu which both me and my partner had chosen and we had already ordered the wine to match. The lemon sole was delicious though, the chicken average. Just about good value for money but nice for a date where you can have both ambience as well as have a conversation without shouting
A haven of rest between galleries
A haven of rest between galleries - and the food was good too!
Food and services better than average, and the view over the river is amazing. If possible, ask for a table by the window.
Very friendly and good service. My wife was disappointed at the small helping of skate in her first course. Otherwise we enjoyed our meal. Would go again to have a meal.
Good food, good service, great view
Having dined at Tate on a number of occasions I always feel confident that we will have an enjoyable experience. It is an excellent venue for entertaining friends .
The staff are efficient but friendly. The food is delicious and the views breathtaking. What's not to like?
Room with a view
Lovely fish and chips with a very light touch, delicate and succulent. Really good service, attentive but not intrusive, relaxed and friendly - in a good way. Catching up with an old friend after three years, we stayed at our window table from 2.00pm to 5.30. And what a view, especially as the sun set and the lights came on over the river and St Paul's Cathedral. Wow!!
Food would a view
Enjoyable food with an impressive view over the Thames to St.Paul's. Choice small but interesting and varied. Service was excellent - efficient and attentive but not too much so,
Treating visitors from the north
The occasion was meeting old friends from scotland who didn't know London so I booked a table overlooking the Thames. However these are always in demand so with an apology we were taken to another table. After the main course we were offered to move to a window table which I thought was extremely thoughtful by the staff and much appreciated by my guests. The food was well prepared, of excellent value, served with efficiency and a smile.
We always combine eating here with a visit to the Gallery. Wonderful combination and of course stunning views
We requested and got a table next to the river-side window with stunning views. The acoustics seemed improved from my last visit about four years ago when was a big problem. Fewer tables this time and possibly the heavy white table linen, also maybe a new feature, dulled the noise, though there was still an element of noise being enlarged - such a big space, big windows.Lovely atmosphere though with table tea-lights and great views. The food was delicious with each item of high quality but we would have liked a wider choice. It was perfect to be able to just come upstairs for the last two hours of Tate late-opening after viewing exhibitions - great location. The downside is, of course, that everything finishes at 10pm.
Two of us had lunch on a Tuesday
Two of us had lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. As we were eager to secure a window table, one of our party arrived early for an early booking. The window table was well worth it - there is a wonderful view across the Thames towards St Paul's and The City, and it was a lovely afternoon. Our meal was part of a special Senior Railcard package which included admission to the blockbuster exhibition du jour, so we had a set menu. But it was lovely. Both the soup and the main course were really tasty and well-presented. The staff were very friendly. In addition to the fabulous view, we enjoyed the lack of loud music or other din which would have prevented our conversing.
Relaxed and accessible eating
The relaxed atmosphere, good service and simple but flavoursome food with wine that complemented the flavours were most enjoyable; loved the plaice! The spacious access was much appreciated by my friend who is a recent wheel chair user.
great dining experience
the food was good, the service was impeccable, but the highlight still remain the view!
Whenever I'm in London, I go to tate Modern and also I recommend it to my friends.
Fabulous Tate Modern
This restaurant never fails to please. The food is delicious, beautifully cooked and presented, with plenty of variety on the menu. The wines (especially the house wine with is a fabulous Paul Jaboulet served in carafes) are lovely and reasonably priced, and the view - we what can you say about the view! Unbelievable.
Wonderful get together
A lovely leisurely lunch, in beautiful surroundings. The food was delightful, the wine from Sussex perfect. We loved the fact that we were given the opportunity to enjoy the food and each other's company.
