L'Atelier de Joel RobuchonI love this restaurantI booked L'Atelier for my friend's birthday. I had let them know at the time I booked and from our arrival and throughout the evening, they went above and beyond with their service. As always, the quality of food was stunning too.
If you haven't been yet, you must go - service and food is awesome
Thank you to all the staff at L'Atelier11/06/2013 00:00:00A lucky find!Excellent food, decor and service. Nice trendy edge to things! Pre theatre on a Friday was buzzy and busy. We enjoyed sitting up at the 'bar' to eat and the fun, eager sommelier matching the wines to our choice of food and taste. (Per theatre menu with wines).07/06/2013 00:00:00Excellent restaurant in theExcellent restaurant in the heart of theatre land great pre theatre value for the quality of the food05/06/2013 00:00:00Lovely lunchGreat food as always in a lovely setting. Music a bit loud for a business lunch upstairs but otherwise little to fault - set menu good option and actually not too unreasonable04/06/2013 00:00:00Single diner finds love.Pre theater Pre fixed dinner was a welcome surprise. Liked this outpost even more than Paris or New York's. The added wine selected for the meal turned out to be two glasses, one for each course.01/06/2013 00:00:00Very EnjoyableWe ate at the strange time of 17:45 following a theatre matinee. Despite the early hour, the restaurant was full and bustling. The atmosphere was good, food excellent and staff attentive. Because of the time, we could have selected from the pre-theatre menu as well as the al la carte, tasting and tapas menus. As it was a special birthday occasion, we went for the main menu which is very expensive, but the quality and presentation of the food were outstanding. However, for other early diners the pre-theatre menu seemed vey good value for money.01/06/2013 00:00:00Great value pre-theatreWe ate at 5.30 on a Saturday ahead of a play, choosing the "3 course" version of the set menu. As we had an evening at the theatre ahead we were reluctant to drink too much, but the sommelier was happy for us effectively to share a wine flight between us, giving us each a half glass of the chosen wines with each course, but only charging overall for one flight. For a restaurant which scarcely needs to bend over backwards to get customers through the door, this is admirable. Food flawless too!01/06/2013 00:00:00High standard quality foodThis was not the first time I ate here. The meal is so good and very tasty every inch of them. I really would recommend this restaurant who wants to eat proper good food in the UK (unfortunately UK is all about quantity and not about quality)
however the portion is very small for that price they asking for. Should be a bit more food on the plate.
All staff doing good job and seemed everyone understood their responsability and also providing quick efficient service.30/05/2013 00:00:00Fusion JapaneseWhen i arrived to my surprise they had the Japanese counter setting - showing the fusion in design aswell as the food. Every dish has its surprise, i had the pre theatre menu. The amuse bouche was delicious. Lobster starter with salad was beautifully arranged and fresh. Salmon was cooked perfectly - i have never had such perfect salmon before, accompanied with complimentary cauliflowers. The chocolate dessert was a lovely surprise with some crunchy bits under the smooth chocolate mousse topped with lovely coffee ice cream. I would recommend foodies to pair with wine. It is a place for the more adventurous diners who like to try fusion dishes. They are polite and placed us in the bar in order to get tables back after 1.5 hours.29/05/2013 00:00:00Overall very nice, we wereOverall very nice, we were disappointed the lamb main had run out after we ordered although this was no-ones fault, and we didn't expect the lobster starter to be cold, it would have been better warm. Also the wine glasses were less full compared to last time, we tended to have finished them before the accompanying dish arrived.27/05/2013 00:00:00Afternoon cocktailsCentrally located within few minutes walk of Covent Garden, L'Atelier has three floors to offer you for drinks, fine dining and entertainment sat inches from the kitchen. A fusion of Asian/Japanese, French and Spanish, Joel Robuchon and his team offer en enormous selection of food, ranging from delicate nibbles to succulent fish mains. There is a sommelier on hand to help with wine, we chose a wonderfully balanced Sauvignon Blanc to go with our menu. We chose about 5-6 starters to share and then fish each for main course before retiring back upstairs to the bar for some cocktails, wonderfully mixed by the attentive and creative staff!24/05/2013 00:00:00Almost perfectThe food portion was very small. The "compliment from the chef" side dish - aubergine tempura - the batter was a bit thick and hard. Apart from that, the amuse bouche, the entree, the main and the dessert were absolutely amazing!17/05/2013 00:00:00L'Atelier de Joel RobuchonL'Atelier de Joel Robuchon
The atmosphere in this restaurant is very cool. It reminds me of a very contemporary tapas bar. With that said the restaurant is French. The staff are incredibly attentive and professional and you can watch the chefs hard at work creating their artistic delights. For me I find when the food is michelin star fussy presentation orientated often the flavours can be comprised a little. This was the case for me this time. Not so the first time I went. I still enjoyed the whole experience and would go back. Another thing to mention is I love their attention to their wines.15/05/2013 00:00:00justifies its reputationAn excellent Saturday lunch with outstanding service. The only reservation is that the beef chuck could have been more tender.
The amuse bouche was delicious, as was the pea veloute and the stuffed squid. Very helpful; advice on the wines11/05/2013 00:00:00Great pre theatre menuWent for a pre theatre meal and was very impressed by the quality of food and speed of service. Food and drink is not cheap but given the standard the prices are reasonable. Portions are small but that's not a bad thing for an early supper. Multiple set menu options are available with and without wine included. Ambiance is great, definitely a place for a special occasion.10/05/2013 00:00:00Great lunchThe lunch with matching wines is great value for money and the pairings are all fantastic09/05/2013 00:00:00Fine fine diningA great experience best suited to the broad-minded foodie with a big budget!08/05/2013 00:00:00Still the best Mash Potatoes everFood is still exceptional. Service outstanding. Wine list is a dream.
Seems like this place is getting better and better!08/05/2013 00:00:00Sunday serviceBooked Via toptable for a Sunday, was not made away that upstairs restaurant was closed so was crammed into a corner by the bar . Not great for a special occasion. they did change tables but took away some shine. Cannot fault food or the service just the booking.05/05/2013 00:00:00Very nice mealThey sat us at the bar, but quickly gave us a table when we complained. The fact that you might be sitting at the bar should be made very clear when you make the reservation. We especially enjoyed the mozzarella starter. The seafood spaghetti was very good, although the portion size was a little small. The service was excellent. We would return.04/05/2013 00:00:00L'ATELIERLovely meal, nice ambience and great food. Really enjoyed our dining experience here. Service was OK but had to ask for refill of water, more butter and took a while to take our drinks order so not as good as service I have received in other restaurants.02/05/2013 00:00:00Fabulous, but allow enough timeSecond time here, the first was an evening meal with oodles of time to savour and sample the fine food on the tasting menu. Very enjoyable. This time was a business lunch on the special price three course menu (also available as 2 or 4 courses). Excellent value for money for food of this quality but we should have allowed at least one and a half hours for the meal: we wound up rushed. More a case of allow enough time for this kind of meal than anything else.29/04/2013 00:00:00I took my boyfriend for theI took my boyfriend for the lunch with matched wines for his birthday. We sat on the benches around the kitchen which I found a little odd at 1st but he absolutely loved being able to watch the kitchen at work during the meal. The food was delicious and we both enjoyed having the wines matched for us, although it was often difficult to understand what the waiters were saying. They even brought out a small piece of cake with a candle on for him without me asking. A lovely lunch. Thank you.28/04/2013 00:00:00Best lunch I`ve had in a long time!We were there for a 2 course lunch with wine. Lovely food, very nice wine, and excelent service. The staff really tok care of us, and a drink/coffee at the roof terrace after the meal was lovely.27/04/2013 00:00:00delicious!I really like the layout of the restaurant – set around the open kitchen. It’s quite dark and styled with mostly black furniture but there is a ‘living wall’ at the back which brightens up the room with some greenery. The food was delicious and presented with great flair but on the small side. We started with the octopus salad which was very fresh and I followed that with the veal cheek and my friend had the steak ‘chuck’! My veal was extremely soft and melted in the mouth. The steak less so; the flavour was great but it was a little chewy. We started with a cocktail – which was very nice and were offered selected wines by the glass per course. There’s also a nice bar and terrace on the third floor – so scope to extend your evening there.27/04/2013 00:00:00Perfection!All was absolutely perfect from the starter to the dessert. We took the menu with matching wines, and it was definitely a good idea. We loved it and will be back there soon.25/04/2013 00:00:00Didn't disappointThe menu was very appealing and we couldn't decide what to have as the choice was wonderful. The execution was even better...truly delicious and I don't often say that. We were too late for the pre dinner menu so we ate a la carte which was pricey but again, as I said, worth it in the end. Would recommend this restaurant plus it's in a great location just off Cambridge Circus/Shaftesbury Ave.24/04/2013 00:00:00Sophisticated SohoA very pleasant experience at L'Atelier. Slick restaurant and bar, with a nice feel to it, being quite different to other restaurants in its decor.
Service very good, and our waiter was most professional but friendly with a personality to match. We were seated at the nicest table in the restaurant in my opinion, however although I like the high seating, the chairs are not comfortable without back support.
All courses were very well presented as expected, and I opted for matching wines with a pre-theatre menu, working very well.
The offer is very good value, but pricey if going off the A la Carte, although the sea bass was excellent from that menu.
Check it out as much better than the Ivy next door...24/04/2013 00:00:00Highly Recommended. Our first visit here was for Sunday lunch. Great ambiance, service and the best restaurant food we have had in central London for some time. Friendly, helpful & knowledgeable staff. Reasonable prices for food and drinks. Set menu that was so good we also shared a cheese course and a dessert although we were already satisfied with the two we had planned (best Compte cheese ever and very light delicious raspberry dessert). Good choice on both the set menu and a la carte. Comprehensive wine list with choices from around the world, really tempted by the Oregon pinot noir, but chose an excellent Loire red with advice from the server. Restaurant was full and well deserves its Michelin 2*. Will definitely try to book for our next visit to London.21/04/2013 00:00:00HappyAmazing roof terrace. Great food. Perfect service. One of the best meals of my life.20/04/2013 00:00:00Great timeGreat food- and drinks on the terrace post lunch was lovely in the sun.20/04/2013 00:00:00A nice spot for a good lunchA nice spot for a good lunch in the theatre district. Food was excellent. Good value.19/04/2013 00:00:00Went on a Wednesday nightWent on a Wednesday night and sat by the kitchen, good seats if going for a casual dinner but if on a date would probably prefer an actual table. Food was superb, especially the seafood chorizo special they had, however the crab starter did taste like every other crab I've had so would not recommend that particular dish, would dine again for sure, service was good as expected.17/04/2013 00:00:00Culinary UtopiaIf you don't like being let down by people or things then this is the London restaurant for you. Every time I visit, it is nothing but exceptional and each visit is memorable for the right reasons. Stunningly executed food and service17/04/2013 00:00:00A delicious experienceWe booked to go here on a Saturday lunch time for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. Although the restaurant is quite small, and we were sat up on bar stools overlooking the kitchen (the perfect place, by the way) it still felt intimate and not claustrophobic.
The restaurant has a great ambience with low lighting and background mad beats. We opted for the three course menu with wine matching which was amazing and great value. Although small portions on first impression, we were both suitably satisfied come dessert.
The waiting staff were extremely friendly and helpful, ready to answer any questions. The timings of the food delivery were perfect, and we never felt rushed.
We would highly recommend this place.13/04/2013 00:00:00My first lunch experienceI have been to the L'atelier before for dinner but this was my first experience using one of the special lunch offers with accompanying wines. We were seated by the counter and I reminded myself that I really loved this resto and its ambience. The food as outstanding as before and could not be faulted at all. The service of the courses was very swift and at times I felt a bit rushed. I would come again for the food though.12/04/2013 00:00:00Beautiful food but quite expensive.Beautiful food but quite expensive. If you like your food like I do you will not be disappointed. I dined in the ground floor restaurant with a friend. We chose to have the small tapas like plates and were told 3-4 plates per person would be recommended depending on hunger levels. We had 8 mains between us and a dessert each and the food bill was nearly £180 before service and drinks.12/04/2013 00:00:00Amazing meal and serviceHad the pre-theatre meal with the wine pairing and the dessert from the a la carte menu. The food was absolutely amazing - and watching the chefs cooking right in front of us also added to the experience. The wine pairings were great and matched each course very well. The dessert was especially exciting! Great service as well and a great deal for a pre-theatre meal experience.11/04/2013 00:00:00Swift and stylishWe came for the £29 for two courses pre-theatre menu. There was an excellent choice for a set menu and with everything prepared in front of you, you can see the high standards of the kitchen. Service was attentive and swift and the presentation of the food was excellent. Wine by the glass is expensive but as well as the two courses we were given an amuse bouche and small pre-dessert as well.10/04/2013 00:00:00Special treatL'Atelier has a very special atmosphere. Seated round the food preparation area is like watching a work of art in progress. My lobster salad, which I had watched emerging in the bowl was almost too pretty to eat - however it was well worth the destruction. The John dory was served with thai green curry sauce and the combination was unusual and delicious. We chose the matching wines and were very please that we had - each one was a perfect partner for the course and moved us out of our usual "safe" choices. The fortified wine from the south of France wiht the chocolate dessert wine was lovely.10/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent Pre-theatre Dining OptionL'Atelier de Joel Robuchon is a perfect restaurant for pre-theatre dining given the location near many theatres and the delicious set menus with wine pairings by the glass. The setting is chic but intimate and the staff are professional, knowledgeable and from the moment you enter and are greeted by the front of house team, you are made to feel welcome. We will return.09/04/2013 00:00:002 stars are not enoughThis is the second time we have been and I have never tasted food like it. The asparagus velouté was just amazing and my slow Cooke beef cheek as sticky soft as it could be.08/04/2013 00:00:00LushSpectacular dining experience .. needs very little words .. other than .. go experience for yourself!08/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent and lively!I really enjoyed the excellent food and service and the lively ambience of L'Atelier. It is diificult to find somewhere like this in London,08/04/2013 00:00:00Dine2enjoyAnother visit to this lovely restaurant, this time for lunch and I was not disappointed. Enjoyed the lunch menu with sommelier recommendations, light and refreshing chicory salad with blue cheese and nuts, lobster with guacamole, slow roasted lamb and John Dory all delivered on flavour and taste as did the chocolate and rhubarb selections for dessert. The wines from France and South Africa complimented the food and makes a nice touch having a different taste with each course. To make it special we started with a glass of Champagne to and finished with additional cheese and port before petit fours and coffee. The extras doubled the bill but well worth it and this remains one of my favorite places to dine.08/04/2013 00:00:00L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon LondonHad pre-theatre meal for 2. Good range of dishes to choose from. Bar table a bit cramped so had separate table instead. Service at good moderate pace. Delivered wrong dish for main course but waitress made no fuss about changing back. Overall good experience in a Michelin star restaurant at acceptable price.06/04/2013 00:00:00Best food in my life!I've only been to 1star rated Restaurant so far, so i wanted
to know why and how they decide between a one
and a two star Restaurant. After visiting l'atelier i understood why. The service was outstanding, we were
lucky to get a table directly at the bar where you can watch the cooks
working on your meals. We had a passioned sommelier
on our side and the food was just amazing.
Def the best food i had so far and the ambience was adorable!05/04/2013 00:00:00Good toptable valueInteresting environment given the complete view the diners are given of the food being prepared. Fortunately watching the chefs preparing our plates didn't seem to put them off as the food was excellent. Service was pretty good and value reasonable when using the toptable deal.05/04/2013 00:00:00Great food, so so ServiceI love Joel Robuchon, and i think it is the only restaurant in London where you can get 2 star Michelin quality food while having a pretty relax atmosphere (You can select the Tapas Menu, which i love).
Tapas we order:
Pig Trotters - always our favorite
Langoustine ravioli - top notch (must try)
Duck with Foie Gras wrapped with Cabbage - very good
Black Cod with Daikon - very good.
Iberico Ham -i should have asked for refund.
Sweetbread - also very good.
and desserts - avoid the selection of tarts/sorbets, they are like pre-made frozen stuff.
Service is bad that night, normally is good. The waitress placed wrong plates, and didn't explain to our friend that she get 3 choices of sorbet, so she got 3 scoops of coconut instead!02/04/2013 00:00:00Another excellent lunchHad the first two courses on the ground floor then went upstairs to the bar - with open fire - for desert. Really enjoyed the whole meal but especially the herb sorbet.31/03/2013 00:00:00
