A word from Refuel
Set inside London's prestigious Soho Hotel, Refuel Bar and Restaurant enjoys an enviable location in the heart of the West End, just moments away from some of London's most popular theatres and nightclubs.
The ground floor restaurant is decorated in warm neutral tones and features brown leather and suede seating with a long pewter bar and a specially-commissioned mural by London-born artist, Alexander Hollweg. After perusing the extensive wine list, you can enjoy modern European dishes like grilled chorizo with bean and basil salad; Dover sole with lemon and tartare sauce; and succulent Aberdeenshire steaks. Refuel also boasts one of Soho's best dessert menus with tasty treats like mango tarte tatin, banoffee ice cream, and hot chocolate fondant on offer. In fact, Refuel is far too prosaic a term for the great experience of dining at this restaurant. Relax, recharge, restore yourself at Refuel.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "After taking a while to find the right entrance, we were seated early and service was great. set menu was really good value and tasted delicious, chicken and bean dish particularly exceptional and generous portions. couldn't find room for 3rd course so waiter offered to swap for coffee and teas which was just what was needed."

  • "The Toptable offer was very good value. The food is good and the staff polite, helpful and friendly. Only slightly disconcerting thing is that we got severed by a series of about five different people. They all seemed to communicate well with each other and know what they were doing, though. I like the ambience, obviously playing on the fact that the hotel was, until recently, an NCP garage, with a large variety of cans of old automotive lubricants."

  • "We went here for lunch because there was a set menu on and it looked nice from the menu and reviews. We were shocked by the prices. We ended up not ordering from the set menu as it didn't look very appetising. The crab we ordered was nice but £11 for a small glass of wine and £5.75 for water is ridiculous. Not worth it at all."

  • "Hi hadn't been here for a few years & was impressed on my return. The service was helpful, friendly & efficient. Food was great & we chose off the set menu which was really good value. I would recommend this restaurant"

  • "Great food and excellent service in pleasant surroundings at an affordable price made this a perfect spot for a leisurely mid-week lunch."

  • "I booked with Refuel because they had a very reasonable set lunch menu and the location was convenient. Unfortunately the top table menu didn't appeal to us so we went a la carte. There is a great choice on the a la carte, but cost a lot more than the set menu. Anyway, the food didn't disappoint, I chose the belly pork and it was delicious. The service is good and the servers very polite. It's not a busy restaurant, we went on a Saturday afternoon, and we didn't feel rushed and in fact stayed for 3 hours just catching up. The restaurant also offers afternoon tea which looked great and very popular with the guests."

  • "We enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch here. It is in a good spot in Soho and is a stylish hotel. The set menu had a good choice and the food was good. We were not rushed and the staff were efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend it!"

  • "Booked the three course + Bellini for 23£..good starter and main but the afters was yuk.a piece of stale ol cake with some choc chips added..lovely quirky bar area."

  • "Very nice good as always. Set menu is outstanding value and delicious."

  • "The food, the service and the ambience are all great in Refuel. Apparently many would agree, because it got rather noisy, but I still go back because of the whole experience."

  • "Met a friend for an early dinner on a Friday evening on the Toptable three courses plus a bellini offer. Great fun, upmarket, but not clicky atmophere. Food portions not huge, but beautifully cooked. Waiting staff were never far away fo any requirements and is somewhere I definitely intend to visit again."

  • "I've been to Refuel before and have always enjoyed my visits. This time was no exception. The food was delicious and the service unobtrusive. The only slight negative is we sat on a round table for 8 people and it could sometimes be hard to hear people talking with the music and general hubbub. This is something to consider for larger groups."

  • "Refuel is a Soho gem waiting to take the lead in a very competitive market. The a London restaurant scene offers such a wide variety of dining experiences to suit all budgets, but I feel Refuel whilst rich in I varied decor has a little way to go in competing with the best in terms of value for money and service. Both the a la carte and srt menus were suitably priced with excellent selections but while the quality of food measured up the service did not quite hit the mark. Such a great shame when you are welcomed by such a vibrant atmosphere, exclellent bar service."

  • "I took my parents there before going to the theatre to celebrate an anniversary. The room, service and food were all very nice as usual. Unfortunately service was a little slow and we had to leave as our desserts were arriving, but the manager apologised and suggested we returned after the theatre. Although this was not practical it was a very nice offer which was appreciated. To be frank, the meal was worth the price even without the desserts - which did look very good. I will be back!"

  • "The Soho Hotel is a real treat. It's buzzy and fun, with a trendy or dressed-upcrowd and a really happening vibe; not a quiet romantic place for dinner - the bar is right next to the dining area. The food and service were both terrific, even though it was a busy night. A choice of three nouveau cusine starters, mains and puddings, plus a Bellini (with passionfruit - a bit tart for some). Everything exemplary."

  • "Always good, excellent service, great ambiance and good to have a business meeting."

  • "Ok, with Top Table deals you don't expect the best table or best set menu options. The venue is fine, lots of nice little bars and areas to sit and drink and chat. The seating is also ok, nice seats. The Top Table menu is limited and not very good. We plumped for steak (main menu) and a nice Ozzie White, overall cost around £90 which is a little pricey for what we got. Service was good though. PS the Apple, steamed sponge is divine, but the ice cream (good) with fudge brownies tastes like plastic (bad)."

  • "Took my sister and family to Refuel for a birthday treat and used the TT £24 offer. Second time at Refuel and was again impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The oxtail bruschetta was very tasty; the lamb main course was really good as was the sea bream. Thoroughly enjoyed the treacle tart and clotted cream and the others had the lemon drizzle cake. Unfortunately, they were no longer offering the wine flight as they did last time i went. The passion fruit bellini was very nice, but a little steep at £10 per additional glass. On verifying the booking i mentioned it was for my sister's birthday and they brought out a lovely 'happy birthday' plate of chocolate and berries at the end of the meal for her. Will revisit soon!"

  • "We had a nice dinner of 4 people and booked the offer with the set menu. The food was nice and the service was excellent, too. It is not the first time we have dined in Refuel and it has always nice ambiance and it keeps the food standards high. well done!"

  • "We had a really good evening. The meal was good and they catered for our dietary requirement (one if us is dairy intolerent) without fuss Great cocktail list so we will be back to sample these soon!"

  • "Refuel is a fun and lively place within The Soho Hotel. I had a great evening with my friend and we thought the service was fantastic. The food was fairly good but the drinks were quite overpriced, although this is usual for Central London."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Its was very nice and welcoming. The food was good but nothing to gush over but besides that, a really enjoyable night. When we went there was a few people but it was calm not hetic like most places, probs it was in a hotel."
    dined on 25/02/2014
  • "Took the grown up kids for dinner to Refuel and it was perfect. Lovely warm decor and ambience, attentive waiter and good food. Amazing dessert menu with lots of choice. Refuel is in The Soho Hotel which is such a beautiful place tucked away removed from the crowded streets of buzzy Soho."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "Tucked away in Soho, off the main roads, you can't just stumble upon it. You need to know it was there. The lively buzzy crowd all were n the know! Outstanding ambience, efficient service and good food. As can be expected the wines are expensive. Will go again."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "This is the fourth time I have been back to Refuel and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, great service as usual and it is such a relaxed atmosphere."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "Have been before on a TT set menu offer which was disappointing but this menu was much better. Three courses & Bellini for £24 which is great value, we did try a other cocktails though which pushed up the bill considerably. Prices are as you would expect for a west end hotel. Ambience is fun, so great for a Friday night. Service was good, again as you would expect really, nothing outstanding. I would go again for a fun night out."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "The staff were lovely, food was delicious and they do some great cocktails!"

  • "We booked the £24 three course set menu which was good value for money, especially when compared to the a la carte menu. Both myself and my partner enjoyed our respective starters and the main courses were excellent. The food was brilliantly cooked and the service was good and friendly, we did not feel as though we were being rushed or pushed to order extra drinks. The only let down was that my partner chose the cheese for desert which was just one lump of cheddar. Smaller pieces of three cheeses would have been appropriate. Whilst I probably wouldn't come here and dine a la carte (partially because my budget wouldn't stretch to it), if the choices are good on the set menu I would certainly recommend it."
    dined on 05/03/2014
  • "We selected the 3 course set menu for £24.00, which included a glass of Bellini. The food was outstanding value for this price & really delicious. The staff are very friendly & the service was great. We would go back for lunch anytime. Lovely ambience & very relaxed."

  • "Went to Refuel for dinner with a friend on a Friday evening. Food was delicious, attentive staff (maybe a little too attentive - a few interruptions mid convo just so ask if we were 'ok' - we were lol). Ordered from the set menu which included 3 course + Bellini for £24!! Great value for money and good / though limited selection of food."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "Monthly GNO (Girls' Night Out) and I've been wanting to come here for ages. Good deal £24 for 3C+Cocktail. They kindly did virgin prosecco instead of the bellini for us. Ham hock terrine, hot, crumbed, was divine. Beef was perfectly cooked, though I couldn't eat the horseradish mash; choc torte was a bit disappointing. Picpoul de pinet alongside was easy to drink. As was the apple & rose cocktail to start with :-)"
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "Great surroundings, excellent staff, good food. The only negative was the music. It was a little louder than comfortable for dinner due to the space being shared with a bar area. The revellers added excellent atmosphere, so the bar itself is a plus rather than a negative, it was just that pesky music which was just that little bit too loud to enjoy conversation."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Organised this restaurant for my sister's birthday. Excellent service and ambience. Good choice of food and wine. Would happily return."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "This was a Birthday treat for my partner and we experienced attentive service from friendly staff. Smart, cosy ambience. Food was tasty and good value with the 3 course and bellini offer. Wines a little pricey. At the end of the meal waiter brought out a complimentary plate of choclate with candle and 'Happy Birthday' message which I hadn't asked for."
    dined on 17/02/2014
  • "Very good food, including great healthy options. Amassing place and decor. Great service. And very reasonable prices. Definitely recommend refuel for brunch (and probably more !)"

  • "I've been at that restaurant with my gf for Valentine's dinner and because of the Valentine's menù proposed while booking I assumed It was the right place for a romantic dinner... At our arrival they proposed us to wait at the bar, where we order smt while waiting. The bar was crowded and music very loud. We waite a while for the table (that was already ready) and when we seated they brought us the cocktail prevously ordered!!! Behind our table there was a 20 people table celebrating a Birthday! (You can immagine the noise). Nohting special from food point of view and definetely too expensive (200£) for the quality and service offered. Not reccomended, especially for romantic dinner."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Whilst the quality of the food was good, the attention to detail was outstanding striking a fine balance between attentiveness and space. Although the set menu for Valentines Day was chosen, I cannot honestly say that the food, although tasty and well presented, was value for money at £65 per person. A lively, almost club -like atmosphere would not be to everyone`s taste, but we enjoyed it."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "Lunch was great. Food was well cooked and presented. Staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. Menu has a good selection but some of the mains are a little expensive."

  • "My gf and I visited Refuel pre-theatre and enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal. The service was friendly and efficient but not pushy and the food was tasty and worth the price charged. Our only qualms were that we were not offered bread to start (we were probably overlooked as other tables were offered bread) and my gnocchi starter had far too much blue cheese for my taste (again, though, this is purely a personal taste consideration). Overall, a lovely restaurant with very tasty food...we will certainly return!"
