Quo VadisNewbees at Quo VadisFirst time at Quo Vadis and we were not disappointed. My starter of crab soup was full of flavour and the chicken pie for main course just right. The highlights though were my partner's mackerel, monks beard, wild garlic and pea salad and her main of perfectly cooked quail's breast and leg with a herb crust. Puddings were also good, my "Coupe Danmark" perhaps a little small. The menu changes daily and is posted on the website, the theatre set one is limited in choice with most diners seeming to opt to crack the code of the quirky a la carte menu presentation. Welcome, service and farewell were very very friendly. Will return.10/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely staff and great ambienceThree of our party of four were late (we did ring and tell them we had timing problems) - they were effortlessly accommodating and continued to be so throughout our meal. All of us enjoyed our meal, the Malbec was excellent and the QV aperitifs were delicious. The staff truly make this such a dining pleasure that each of our party agreed they would return any time!07/05/2013 00:00:00Great LunchOur second visit to this Soho institution - and even better than the great experience we had last time. Very good & interesting food, fantastic service & a great balance between formality and informality. Strongly recommend the wine special offers - excellent wine & reasonably priced for the quality.04/05/2013 00:00:00tasty dinner with an inventive menuWhile we had to google a few of the things on the menu (middlewhite, puntarella, rouille, arbroath smokies) the meal itself was delicious. A new potato salad with the smokies (sweet-smoky cured haddock) and intensely flavoured puntarella was flavorful and inventive. The crab soup was tasty, but even better with lancashire-onion little cheese toasties - yum! Well-priced, nicely curated wine list. Very engaged service. Overall a wonderful meal.24/04/2013 00:00:00Beautiful restaurant fantasticBeautiful restaurant fantastic location. Staff very friendly and no pressure to rush you through your meal.19/04/2013 00:00:00Wonderful Attention to Detail4 of us went for dinner and were looked after so well from the second we arrived. I loved the flower displays and the look of the restaurant. Everyone who worked there looked after us so well. The food was cooked well and lovely flavours to all dishes I tasted.18/04/2013 00:00:00Very good restaurantfor a special occasion, interesting menu, great service and good value.06/04/2013 00:00:00Great place with a lovelyGreat place with a lovely buzz, simple yet delicious food served by a great team.05/04/2013 00:00:00Lee and Mirren in one nightWe were originally going post-theatre but in the morning brought the booking forward to 5.30pm. No fuss, no tutting, just as welcome. Lovely food from a simple menu served by the most intelligent and amusing waitresses in London. I have only dropped a star from the food because my duck was over-salted, something the restaurant accepted generously and without demur. This was a birthday treat before seeing Helen Mirren in The Audience. Jeremy Lee and Helen Mirren in one night, both on top form - a treat indeed. This is as good as Quo Vadis has ever been. PS Make sure you have the smoked eel starter.03/04/2013 00:00:00Friday night dinnerQuite the best non-confit duck I've ever had - and delicious brill with mussels and crab broth.29/03/2013 00:00:00A very good experienceWe had a very good experience at Quo Vadis. A tempting menue, nice premices and outstanding service really made our day. Prices was lower than expected.27/03/2013 00:00:00This is one classy joint! This is one classy joint! The food was top quality, every request was met without hesitation, and the ambiance was relaxed and very stylish. We only had breakfast but we will be back.25/03/2013 00:00:00Pre-threatre rushThis is one of our favourite restaurants, full stop. Excellent food and drink and lovely sophisticated atmosphere - it's all here. The pre-theatre service could be a tad more punctual, though - despite arriving at 6 and informing our charming server that we needed to be out by 7.10 or so, we ended up with about 7 minutes to eat our mains and finish our excellent red. Won't stop us coming back, though!22/03/2013 00:00:00Still worth itGreat, fresh and often unusual ingredients, berkswell and puntarella anybody ? Put together really well by a place where good cooking and timing is understood. Ox liver and onions were cooked just right which can be a difficult trick in a busy place. Interesting and varied wine list. Underpinned by friendly knowledgeable staff who importantly offer genuine help in an unstuffy manner. The space is interesting and its a good location. Not a bad combination at all. Will go back.22/03/2013 00:00:00Quo VadisBuzzy atmosphere excellent well informed staff. Strong English feel to the menu plus some French classics, a very confident kitchen handling things like Onglet with aplomb. Wines well chosen and sensibly priced. Puddings maybe not as strong as the rest.
Will go again -great for pre and post theatre20/03/2013 00:00:00A second perfect mealOn my second visit I was joined for lunch by two friends. We were delighted.
A warm welcome from front of house, excellent food, reasonably priced wine, service that's attentive but never fussy.
This is fast becoming my regular Soho haunt.14/03/2013 00:00:00DelightfulFor a pre-theatre meal in London's West End the meal was excellent and efficiently served - it worked out at £33 per head but we only drank LA beer. A full dinner with wine would be very much more expensive.12/03/2013 00:00:00I'd recommend itI found the food refreshingly different - very subtle & delicate flavours when so many places go for in your face taste. Excellent cocktails too.09/03/2013 00:00:00Quo VadisHave eaten here both in the evening and at lunchtime recently and have been impressed with the quality of the food, the short but excellent wine list, the service and the ambience. Highlights are the seasonal dishes packed with flavour and the home made bread.09/03/2013 00:00:00RomanceHad a lovely meal here at QV with my fiancée celebrating our anniversary, the service was impeccable, the food great (especially the hare pie), great value for money and an exceptional wine list. We were made to feel pretty special in the 'secret booth'. Which is definitely worth asking for. Afterwards we were ushered up to the members bar to carry on with a few after dinner drinks, which was a lovely touch seeing as the weather was awful outside and the last thing you want to be doing is trying to find somewhere to drink after 10.30pm in Soho.
Thanks to all at Quo Vadis. We'll be back.08/03/2013 00:00:00Surprisingly healthyI was a bit worried about eating in a restaurant on one of my 5:2 fast diet fast days and fasted all day. It was perfect. I enjoyed a burst of flavour with the salad starter (minus the croutons) and then was pleased with the grilled mackerel and horseradish cream. To eat well-prepared food, in a stylish setting that met my calorie criteria was a pleasure. Calories aside, the food is inventive, well cooked, beautifully presented and the only complaint was the wine list was so tempting that I could not resist a forbidden glass.07/03/2013 00:00:00DeliciousAnother delicious meal from a new favourite restaurant. Delicious food, beautifully considered and perfectly but not ostentatiously presented. Maitre D always welcoming and very professional, very good waiting staff, even those on their first trial shift, and beautiful flower arrangements. Also great for Soho people watching through the lovely stained glass windows onto Dean Street. Great house wine too.07/03/2013 00:00:00Enjoyable meal!We really enjoyed Quo Vadis. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I often have to make do with pretty ordinary vegetarian options but I was well catered for at Quo Vadis and my meal was lovely. We had booked an early pre-theatre meal and one member of our party arrived late because of traffic. Despite this, our waitress made sure that we all were served promptly and we were able to leave in plenty of time without feeling rushed. I'd love to go back and have a leisurely meal next time without the theatre trip!06/03/2013 00:00:00Wednesday lunch became specialFrom the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special in what turned out to be a very busy lunchtime. The layout of the restaurant was beautiful allowing each separate dining area to feel secluded although containing several tables. So nice to have tablecloths, by the way.
The service was perfect, and staff knowledgeable about the menu. My husband had the lambs' sweetbreads in black butter and I chose a starter of pork rissoles with sides of winter greens and sauteed potatoes. Delicious. House red excellent and desserts looked and tasted fabulous. A smashing experience.06/03/2013 00:00:00Never disappointsQuo Vadis is a great restaurant. The interior decor and ambience is lovely. The food is always of a great and high quality and the service attentive and professional.01/03/2013 00:00:00ImpressiveThe menu is relatively small but everything is delicious. There were 4 of us in my party, and we ordered all the starters and shared them between us which worked well. The mains and desserts were all amazing too. 5 stars from me!01/03/2013 00:00:00Just fabJeremy Lee is one of the most inspired chefs in London. Combining a handful of simple fresh ingredients with accurate and inventive cooking, the kitchen whacks out dish after dish of awesomeness. The atmosphere and service combine the best of the Ivy whilst avoiding the worst (thank God). Can't recommend highly enough.27/02/2013 00:00:00We were warmly greeted, andWe were warmly greeted, and service throughout was outstanding; professional and attentive without being fussy.
The menu offered good choice for a vegetarian, a fish eater and two carnivores. The food was delicious, interesting and perfectly plated. The wine list was great, and the cheese and puddings were all excellent.
The website warns that there is a two-hour table return policy in the evening, but we were allowed to percolate upstairs to finish post-dinner drinks in the bar.
I'm going again next month for lunch, and am really looking forward to it.22/02/2013 00:00:00Interesting food at lower pricesI remember eating at Quo Vadis a year or two ago, and had a wonderful meal. I thought the prices were commensurate with the quality of the food and general ambiance, so what a nice surprise to see the prices now are actually cheaper. The food is not so "fancy" as it was last time, but the portions are honest, and actually there are some really interesting dishes on offer. My companion and I shared a wonderful simple crab starter followed by brill and the pheasant and duck pie (delicious).
The sticky toffee pudding was a joy. They now have a great wine list for all budgets (before there were few decent wines at the lower end). Service was friendly and charming without being invasive. All in all, excellent value.14/02/2013 00:00:00Happy memoriesI last visited Quo Vadiis in the 60's with my parents. My father had a business account there and we were regular vistors.
The owner's name (he may have been the head waiter) was Leoni who was a larger than life character.
I was pleasantly surprised to see one of the upstairs rooms at Quo Vadis is named after him.
We had an excellent Valentine's Day evening meal.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
I will make sure that I don't leave it another 50 years before I return!14/02/2013 00:00:00Great food, great serviceGreat food, great service and there wasn't a silly Valentines menu!14/02/2013 00:00:00Soho Theatre VisitVery inviting, friendly staff, good food, what more do you want?01/02/2013 00:00:00Relaxing and funWe had a fantastic time at Quo Vadis; although on first glance the setting looks fairly formal, the dining room offers an astonishingly relaxing feel, which is aided by the utterly unflappable and charming staff. The food we ate ranged from good to great, and the menu was well designed to offer a sense of fun as well as sophistication. Well worth a visit, and well worth the price!24/01/2013 16:00:00a very pleasant eveningThis was our first time at Quo Vadis. It seemed a very popular restaurant with people eating snacks in the bar as well as in the restaurant. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the food very nice although the choice was quite limited. Would go there again.18/01/2013 16:00:00Beautiful setting, incredible foodStunning, historical restaurant with a daily changing menu, their own baked break, very attentive & friendly staff & the most delicious food. Every Saturday lunch they have a brilliant wine sale where you can get £120 bottles of wine for £38 which made our lunch date with friends even more enjoyable.
I can't recommend this place more highly - it's amazing.18/01/2013 16:00:00Fantastic, elegant classicFantastic, elegant classic British food. Possible to dine well for £20 each if you are disciplined, but the menu and wine list were so tempting we decided for a more indulgent evening. Highly recommended. Everything delicious.15/01/2013 16:00:00Polished performanceqWe had a lovely dinner at Quo Vadis which really seems to have hit its stride in this incarnation. A short but enticing menu, very good value for the location & quality, including decently priced wines and attentive/efficient service. A slight feeling of being cogs in a machine designed to process diners is the only thing that stops this excellent restaurant from getting a 5th star. Really very good indeed.11/01/2013 00:00:00IncredibleIncredible food, lovely gentle service. A perfect evening and really, really good value for money.10/01/2013 00:00:00Highly recommendedThoroughly enjoyed the food and occasion in this elegant and relaxing restaurant. Had a very good beetroot salad followed by beef onglet (amongst the best I've tasted). A friend opted for the exceptionally good value all-day fixed-price menu and had pork patties (substantial and flavoursome). Service was efficient but friendly. Having walked down Dean Street on many occasions wish I'd tried it sooner.04/01/2013 16:00:00Dining at Quo VadisWe had a meal at Quo Vadis on Saturday before going to the theatre, with a party of 7 ranging form 10 year old to old fossils, The food was excellent and the service was very good. It was a little rushed because we needed to be away in time to see the show so the puddings were not savoured to their full! However, the wines and the main courses were very good, particularly the fish.
The atmosphere in the main dining area is good, with the room being slightly partitioned with mirrors and art deco stained glass, so there's plenty of beautiful things to look at.04/01/2013 16:00:00Great !Excellent Soho eatery, with a very amicable and friendly front of house team and wonderful food , highly recommended30/12/2012 16:00:00Wonderful experienceWe booked this for a pre theatre meal on New Year's Eve. The name appealed! The restaurant was really smart and the service was the best we have come across in London - charming, helpful and knowledgeable. The menu is not large but is interesting and all the dishes we chose were delicious. The wine list seemed vast and made interesting reading. We actually choses an English white wine from Sussex which was fresh and fruity. The whole event was perfect and we will recommend it to anyone who wants a great meal and experience that is reasonably priced in the centre of London Theatre Land.30/12/2012 16:00:00English foodWe were delighted to have found a very good restaurant proposing real english meal. Smoked eel was super and also the lamb sweetbreads were very particular. Service was very good. Price is still fair even if paying 30 GBP for a bottle of "normal" wine is not normal.
Reccomanded!28/12/2012 16:00:00Quo Vadis has been rejuvinatedEverything about the new Quo Vadis is stylish, from the welcome to the table setting. The rooms have been transformed by glass, mirrors and plants into airy bright spaces. Large tables with glowing white table cloths and excellent wine glasses. The service is amongst the best in London and the food is just lovely. Very good bread and butter, fabulously interesting (but not cheap) wine list, an excellent prix fixe three courses at £20 and a fine varied a la carte. The squash soup, the goat curd with cornbread, the lemon posset with rhubarb all exemplary. Pickled mackerel, marinated chicken with beetroot and 3 British cheeses including an excellent soft goat all wonderful. This rejuvination in the heart of Soho is fabulous.28/12/2012 16:00:00Just right...My partner and I had a lovely meal here last Friday night. We arrived a little early and were perfectly happy to wait in the bar area if we needed to, but we were seated right away in a lovely corner table for two. The atmosphere was great, even though it was quite early to be having dinner (6.45pm) there were a few tables already well into their meal, from that perspective everything was really great. We both had some beautiful beef steak, my partner the sirloin and I the onglet which I would heartily recommend. Overall a really lovely evening, we would definitely come back.27/12/2012 16:00:00Fantastic!Love what they have done with the place! Great room, great food. what more could you ask for?19/12/2012 16:00:00Soho's piece of old fashioned charmQuo Vadis is a restaurant I have walked past for many years and never thought to visit. Rather garish, amusement arcade style exterior belies the traditional starched linen covered tables of the interior. Tables well apart, confidential discussions in peace and all tables well sheltered from the front door. Oh, and the food and wine were excellent as well. Quirky menu contains a wide range of choices for all tastes and we enjoyed unusual dishes not seen elsewhere, like pickled mackerel and potato salad or pheasant and mash or sauteed whole potatoes. My guest was not drinking alcohol so the wide range of half bottles of wine came to my rescue. Service was excellent and unobtrusive. The overall ambience very relaxing and convivial.13/12/2012 00:00:00British food at its bestI ate here with my father when he came to visit me in London, I wanted to go somewhere for good British food which also reflected the London lifestyle. The food was amazing and the service impeccable, I felt we were getting a great value for money (even though it wasn't cheap). Good service is very hard to come by these days.24/11/2012 00:00:00Brilliant restaurantA brilliant new discovery for someone who tends to stay in W1. This place is fantastic. Nothing to fault. Service extremely friendly and professional. Decor and ambience great. Menu interesting and food very tasty. Will definitely return in – hopefully – the very near future.16/10/2012 16:00:00Post TheatreI had the Theatre special which was good value for money. Interesting selection of other items. Good late night buzz makes this a great post theatre eater. Would not recommend for romantic evening as it is loud and the lighting is bright.12/10/2012 16:00:00
