Quo VadisExcellent but noisyFood and service were excellent, the noise levels got very high to the end of the night as customers sloshed back more wine though and by the time dessert arrived we found it difficult to hear each other at the table. We left slightly early due to this.13/06/2013 00:00:00Fantastic birthday celebrationI booked Quo Vadis as I wanted to take my best friend somewhere special for her birthday. I'd heard good things about the cooking, and had always loved the location and interior. I popped in the night before and front of house were very sweet - took time out from their busy evening to check my table, and move our booking to a table I preferred more. The meal was fabulous. My friend's a real foodie - and she wasn't disappointed. Wonderfully prepared, fresh and delicious food - in particular, the crab bisque and rhum baba. Great atmosphere - lots of happy diners, those beautiful stained glass windows, and they even remembered it was my friend's birthday and wrote a special message in chocolate on our dessert. Pricy, but so worth it.13/06/2013 00:00:00Something differentSet in the heart of Soho, next to a strip club and a short walk from Chona Town. Good feel to the place spacious inside and excellent service. Even though they ask for the table back in 2 hours there is no feeling of being rushed. For my taste I was disappointed with the menu choices I would like to see more meat and less innards but if you like that then this is the place for you. Ended up with the pie and mash( duck) nice but chosen as a last resort. Good wine list and very reasonably priced. Overall good value for money and a good place if you fancy something a little out of the ordinary.12/06/2013 00:00:00Service was a little slowService was a little slow but everything else was
Great!!07/06/2013 00:00:00Fantastic!We had an amazing meal here on Friday evening - from start to finish, the food, service and general ambience were amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone who loves food.07/06/2013 00:00:00Quo VadisWent for the pre theatre menu (which is available all day) which was great value.05/06/2013 00:00:00Very ImpressedAfter reading a few reviews of Quo Vadis, we was a little concerned at regular comments regarding the two-hour time period Quo Vadis had for table bookings. Many guests had wrote that they felt rushed or hassled off their table. This was simply not the case at all. We was very impressed with the service, staff were attentive and made us feel very relaxed and comfortable.
The 3 courses we had were top quality.
We will be coming back to Quo Vadis for sure.05/06/2013 00:00:00Excellent FoodWe went here post a museum visit ,it did early evening meals so was an obviouse choice. It was our first visit but we shal almost certainly go back .The food was fresh and lively using seasonal vegitables in unusual combinations .Service was attentive without being obtrusive. All in all an excellent meal.04/06/2013 00:00:00Re-design the menu!An old favourite on Dean Street, that I hadn't visited for maybe 7 years or more. Very pleasant and very good service; handy for theatreland. My only disappointment was the quirky layout of the menu. I applaud the concept of making it a little more interesting, but it rather looked as if they were going for a 'Wolseley' type of layout and failing. A triumph of graphic design over functionality that left us feeling confused. It was difficult to know (especially in a hurry) what were starters, main courses etc, so you had to guess at this by the price. Needs to be rationalised.01/06/2013 00:00:00Great food, great locationThis is the first tie I've been here with the new(ish) team and it was great. Food was good, service was good and the restaurant has so much character. Any evening has a sense of theatre about it and i'll be back.30/05/2013 00:00:00Lots of different optionsNot being a huge fan of offel I found it a bit tough to pick from the menu - that's not to say there weren't plenty of options. The salads as well were fantastic. Those amongst the group who did found all the usual favourites. The wine we had was fabulous.28/05/2013 00:00:00Somewhat disappointedCannot fault the wines and the cocktails served - but am no longer liking the actual dining experience itself and that's in spite of the great ambiance and service. Food is not as good as it once was. I had 'lamb onglet with asparagus and mint', it was all chopped up and served on a minute plate which would not even accommodate a chip (which when I'd made space was excellent). Lamb was tough-ish too..28/05/2013 00:00:00Very refined diningQuo Vadis is a great way to complement a West End show.28/05/2013 00:00:00Just rightThe crab soup and venison terrine were excellent starters. Good size and very tasty way to get the palette started. Pie; (rabbit and mallard) with the creamiest mash for me and pork with seemingly all the world's garlic were a very enjoyable main. My dessert-the rum baba was actually a tad big, but didn't stop me scoffing the lot. The marmalade shortcake was very short and melted in the mouth. We were even serenaded by Jeremy Lee himself. Well ok, he was sat behind us, loudly telling tales to some guests.28/05/2013 00:00:00Surprisingly goodI was not mentally prepared for such exquisite food and the service was delightful too. Very much looking forward to returning.25/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely place.Very friendly and happy staff, excellent service and tasty food. It was easy to forget that we were in Soho.24/05/2013 00:00:00Early dinnerTaking and early dinner before an evening engagement I was happy to find the restaurant already bustling with activity and a good atmosphere already at 6.15. Excellent aperitif, and food, wine suggested by the waiter was also excellent. friendly and attentive service. Thoroughly recommend.22/05/2013 00:00:00Dinner for twoGorgeous food from start to finish, esp the starters. Lovely, warm bustling atmosphere but the service wasn't great. Had to go and find someone to ask them to come back and take our coffee orders, and there was a problem over the wine order, which got things off to an awkward start. Got the impression that as we were a couple, attention was focused on the larger tables. Very friendly waitresses though, which half made up for it. The other half was more than compensated by my veal terrine. I love what Quo Vadis is doing.18/05/2013 00:00:00smooth and friendly service, smooth and friendly service, well-designed menu card, orginial modern British dishes, fine choice of wines17/05/2013 00:00:00Newbees at Quo VadisFirst time at Quo Vadis and we were not disappointed. My starter of crab soup was full of flavour and the chicken pie for main course just right. The highlights though were my partner's mackerel, monks beard, wild garlic and pea salad and her main of perfectly cooked quail's breast and leg with a herb crust. Puddings were also good, my "Coupe Danmark" perhaps a little small. The menu changes daily and is posted on the website, the theatre set one is limited in choice with most diners seeming to opt to crack the code of the quirky a la carte menu presentation. Welcome, service and farewell were very very friendly. Will return.10/05/2013 00:00:00Lovely staff and great ambienceThree of our party of four were late (we did ring and tell them we had timing problems) - they were effortlessly accommodating and continued to be so throughout our meal. All of us enjoyed our meal, the Malbec was excellent and the QV aperitifs were delicious. The staff truly make this such a dining pleasure that each of our party agreed they would return any time!07/05/2013 00:00:00Great LunchOur second visit to this Soho institution - and even better than the great experience we had last time. Very good & interesting food, fantastic service & a great balance between formality and informality. Strongly recommend the wine special offers - excellent wine & reasonably priced for the quality.04/05/2013 00:00:00Quo Vadis mealExtremely good dinner at Quo Vadis - all 3 of us chose different options and were very happy with them. My squid, fennel and olive salad starter was well balanced as was my main course of white fish, mussels, peas and samphire. My friends' meatier options were also excellent. Luckily we were not held to the 2 hour time limit as this could have caused us to rush at the end of the meal. Good range - and quality - of wines although not too many at lower prices. Pleasant "buzzy" atmosphere but not too noisy to talk.30/04/2013 00:00:00Fabulous cocktailsA lovely evening and lovely food, highly recommended.
But do arrive early so you can try out the cocktail menu at your leasure, well worth it!!!27/04/2013 00:00:00Good, butGood ambience and attentive staff.
The food was well cooked, innovative and full of flavour but the main courses need side orders, which always frustrates me as I think that a first rate kitchen should design the entire meal, matching every item on the plate to complete the taste experience. Not allowing it to be changed by addition of random side orders.
Also, while two of us had pork loin, which tasted wonderful, my portion was about half the size of my companion's and presented in thin, somewhat dry, slices in contrast to the thick moist ones my companion had. One always expects slight differences but this was blatantly marked. Maybe it escaped inspection at the pass because the meat was covered in a wonderful couscous and sauce.25/04/2013 00:00:00tasty dinner with an inventive menuWhile we had to google a few of the things on the menu (middlewhite, puntarella, rouille, arbroath smokies) the meal itself was delicious. A new potato salad with the smokies (sweet-smoky cured haddock) and intensely flavoured puntarella was flavorful and inventive. The crab soup was tasty, but even better with lancashire-onion little cheese toasties - yum! Well-priced, nicely curated wine list. Very engaged service. Overall a wonderful meal.24/04/2013 00:00:00eely good food ;)We dined here as a lunch treat for my mums birthday. We all had the eel sandwich which although was on the dainty side packed a punch. The crab consommé was rich with a beautiful depth of flavour and was a delight to eat.
A lovely menu and reasonable prices for the heart of soho.20/04/2013 00:00:00Beautiful restaurant fantasticBeautiful restaurant fantastic location. Staff very friendly and no pressure to rush you through your meal.19/04/2013 00:00:00Wonderful Attention to Detail4 of us went for dinner and were looked after so well from the second we arrived. I loved the flower displays and the look of the restaurant. Everyone who worked there looked after us so well. The food was cooked well and lovely flavours to all dishes I tasted.18/04/2013 00:00:00Quo VadisWe were a group of 6 for Saturday lunch. I had heard very good reviews of the set-menu value, so was disappointed that there were only 2 options in each section. You definitely need to be a 'foodie' to read the menu, not a problem, as the staff happily explained what things were to us. Overall everyone really enjoyed what they had, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be - but that could be expectation and my choice of Skate with Capers which was very salty. The restaurant is beautiful, with stunning Stained Glass windows, the only let-down was the service, it was very pleasant but both waitresses were unbelievably slow and kept forgetting drink requests etc, we weren't in a hurry but if you were, this could have been very annoying.13/04/2013 00:00:00Very good restaurantfor a special occasion, interesting menu, great service and good value.06/04/2013 00:00:00Very Good but not mindblowingGreat value and great food. Set menu is available all day every day, £17 for 2 course, £20 for 3 course. Portions were on the small side but for the price it was fine. Service was efficient and friendly, atmosphere and setting were great.06/04/2013 00:00:00Great place with a lovelyGreat place with a lovely buzz, simple yet delicious food served by a great team.05/04/2013 00:00:00Best sticky toffee pudding everQV is a fabulous restaurant under Jeremy Lee's assured leadership in the kitchen. It isn't cheap but you can be assured of fabulous quality and excellent service. I had beautifully cooked salmon with dill cucumbers in a very mustardy sauce, and flawless mash.. But I was really there for the sticky toffee pudding. A vast slice appeared, thick with dates, yet not too heavy, with a treacly toffee sauce. It was easily enough for a family of four, but I couldn't help polishing off the lot.I've had too many STPs to count, and this was the finest yet.03/04/2013 00:00:00Lee and Mirren in one nightWe were originally going post-theatre but in the morning brought the booking forward to 5.30pm. No fuss, no tutting, just as welcome. Lovely food from a simple menu served by the most intelligent and amusing waitresses in London. I have only dropped a star from the food because my duck was over-salted, something the restaurant accepted generously and without demur. This was a birthday treat before seeing Helen Mirren in The Audience. Jeremy Lee and Helen Mirren in one night, both on top form - a treat indeed. This is as good as Quo Vadis has ever been. PS Make sure you have the smoked eel starter.03/04/2013 00:00:00Friday night dinnerQuite the best non-confit duck I've ever had - and delicious brill with mussels and crab broth.29/03/2013 00:00:00A very good experienceWe had a very good experience at Quo Vadis. A tempting menue, nice premices and outstanding service really made our day. Prices was lower than expected.27/03/2013 00:00:00This is one classy joint! This is one classy joint! The food was top quality, every request was met without hesitation, and the ambiance was relaxed and very stylish. We only had breakfast but we will be back.25/03/2013 00:00:00Pre-threatre rushThis is one of our favourite restaurants, full stop. Excellent food and drink and lovely sophisticated atmosphere - it's all here. The pre-theatre service could be a tad more punctual, though - despite arriving at 6 and informing our charming server that we needed to be out by 7.10 or so, we ended up with about 7 minutes to eat our mains and finish our excellent red. Won't stop us coming back, though!22/03/2013 00:00:00Still worth itGreat, fresh and often unusual ingredients, berkswell and puntarella anybody ? Put together really well by a place where good cooking and timing is understood. Ox liver and onions were cooked just right which can be a difficult trick in a busy place. Interesting and varied wine list. Underpinned by friendly knowledgeable staff who importantly offer genuine help in an unstuffy manner. The space is interesting and its a good location. Not a bad combination at all. Will go back.22/03/2013 00:00:00Quo VadisBuzzy atmosphere excellent well informed staff. Strong English feel to the menu plus some French classics, a very confident kitchen handling things like Onglet with aplomb. Wines well chosen and sensibly priced. Puddings maybe not as strong as the rest.
Will go again -great for pre and post theatre20/03/2013 00:00:00Very niceEnjoyed a lovely meal at quo Vadis and would go back. When booking we were warned we'd have to return the table after two hours but on the night we were not rushed out and overstayed our two hour slot.15/03/2013 00:00:00A second perfect mealOn my second visit I was joined for lunch by two friends. We were delighted.
A warm welcome from front of house, excellent food, reasonably priced wine, service that's attentive but never fussy.
This is fast becoming my regular Soho haunt.14/03/2013 00:00:00DelightfulFor a pre-theatre meal in London's West End the meal was excellent and efficiently served - it worked out at £33 per head but we only drank LA beer. A full dinner with wine would be very much more expensive.12/03/2013 00:00:00I'd recommend itI found the food refreshingly different - very subtle & delicate flavours when so many places go for in your face taste. Excellent cocktails too.09/03/2013 00:00:00Quo VadisHave eaten here both in the evening and at lunchtime recently and have been impressed with the quality of the food, the short but excellent wine list, the service and the ambience. Highlights are the seasonal dishes packed with flavour and the home made bread.09/03/2013 00:00:00RomanceHad a lovely meal here at QV with my fiancée celebrating our anniversary, the service was impeccable, the food great (especially the hare pie), great value for money and an exceptional wine list. We were made to feel pretty special in the 'secret booth'. Which is definitely worth asking for. Afterwards we were ushered up to the members bar to carry on with a few after dinner drinks, which was a lovely touch seeing as the weather was awful outside and the last thing you want to be doing is trying to find somewhere to drink after 10.30pm in Soho.
Thanks to all at Quo Vadis. We'll be back.08/03/2013 00:00:00Surprisingly healthyI was a bit worried about eating in a restaurant on one of my 5:2 fast diet fast days and fasted all day. It was perfect. I enjoyed a burst of flavour with the salad starter (minus the croutons) and then was pleased with the grilled mackerel and horseradish cream. To eat well-prepared food, in a stylish setting that met my calorie criteria was a pleasure. Calories aside, the food is inventive, well cooked, beautifully presented and the only complaint was the wine list was so tempting that I could not resist a forbidden glass.07/03/2013 00:00:00DeliciousAnother delicious meal from a new favourite restaurant. Delicious food, beautifully considered and perfectly but not ostentatiously presented. Maitre D always welcoming and very professional, very good waiting staff, even those on their first trial shift, and beautiful flower arrangements. Also great for Soho people watching through the lovely stained glass windows onto Dean Street. Great house wine too.07/03/2013 00:00:00Enjoyable meal!We really enjoyed Quo Vadis. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I often have to make do with pretty ordinary vegetarian options but I was well catered for at Quo Vadis and my meal was lovely. We had booked an early pre-theatre meal and one member of our party arrived late because of traffic. Despite this, our waitress made sure that we all were served promptly and we were able to leave in plenty of time without feeling rushed. I'd love to go back and have a leisurely meal next time without the theatre trip!06/03/2013 00:00:00
