Diner Reviews
  • "The service is attentive but not intrusive and the restaurant ambiance is fantastic. My one criticism here would be that some of the tables in the main salon are a bit close together and it made it difficult for me to get out but I am nit picking here. The food was outstanding. I had the Steak Tartare and the Guinea Fowl from the a la carte menu. Steak Tartare with the addition of the berries was the best i have ever had and the Guinea fowl left me sad i had none left. Deserts usually disappoint me but my PBJ was outstanding with great textures and flavours. Having eaten at a fair few michelin restaurants I have to place Pollen Street as one of the best i have visited (for lunch certainly); maybe even the best in London so far."

  • "We were greeted warmly on arrival and found eating at Pollen Street Social is pure theatre! Our meal was a creative and innovative experience, and each course was delicious. We will look forward to returning. Thank you. Fran Moscow"

  • "the set lunch is good value for money. amuse bouche, pre desert and friandise all very nice and makes it feel more like a 5 course meal than a 3 course. deserts were outstanding and the starters and main were very good. it was a bit difficult to understand the waiters when they were explaining the dishes, they were rushing and did not speak up enough given the noise level in the restaurant."

  • "The whole evening at Pollen Street was fantastic! The food was amazing and service very smooth. All the added extras like the pre-dinner nibbles, ice-cream pudding and end of meal sweet treats just made for the perfect evening - thank you!"

  • "Our fourth visit to PSS and it never disappoints. Great food, great service and casual dress code is perfect for me! Go there - you'll love it!"

  • "We had the 3 course set lunch on Saturday afternoon, great service and excellent food. Will definitely return soon. 3 course set lunch menu is excellent value for money."

  • "My fourth visit & this time I sampled the set lunch menu, really great value for 3 courses. Despite having the set menu you still receive all the extra treats before your meal & after the desserts, exceptional value for the food. This time I had the crab salad, lamb and strawberry dessert whilst my friend had crab, sea bass and a delightful chocolate dessert. All the dishes were well cooked, flavorsome, perfectly presented with textures you would expect from such a fine restaurant. Add in a glass of Champagne to start with,a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and 2 glasses of dessert wine each followed by coffee and suddenly the bill had grown but worth every penny and I will be back again. Excellent ambiance & great staff just add to your enjoyment"

  • "Ate of the set lunch menu which was good value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, just a couple of small gripes, we all though the main courses could have been served hotter but the flavours made up for the fact that they were only lukewarm, also found the cost of coffee quite high £6.50 for a double espresso!!! However the Petit fours were beautiful. Over all a great experience with great food, great service and relaxed atmosphere. Make sure you start your meal of with one of their amazing cocktails at the bar!"

  • "We've eaten here regularly since it opened but it's nearly a year since our last meal. Some familiar faces have gone, perhaps to other Jason Atherton restaurants, and changes have crept in. The excellent canapés come, for no obvious reason, inside a hollowed-out book. The bread was offered once, insufficient for the good butter and brandade dip. One dish, a bouillabaisse, was largely liquid and no spoon was proffered. Portion size of some dishes on the lunch menu are less than generous. Service was professional but perfunctory - crockery and glasses whisked away as soon as the last mouthful was consumed. Whilst the cooking is still good and we enjoyed our meal, it was far from the outstanding social experience of previous visits."

  • "Took my wife for lunch for her birthday. The menu is small but the choices were mouth-watering. We both chose the slow cooked egg starter - it was light and delicate. Irish Sea bass and Ribeye steak for mains again were beautifully presented and prepared. Desserts of chocolate ganache and a deconstructed strawberry cheescake were a fitting end to the meal - or so we thought. Some small "ice-creams" filled with mango, some freeze-dried(?) chocolate and madeleines filled with lemon were all amazing flavours. A nice personal touch was the chocolate fondant in a gift box marked "Happy Birthday" at the end of the meal. Throughout the service was attentive without being overbearing, and the staff all worked well together."

  • "Unlike some restaurants of this calibre, they offer a fairly extensive and interesting vegetarian menu. My vegetarian 'breakfast' starter of slow cooked egg with smatterings of bean and tomato flavours along with crunchy croutons and mushrooms was sublime. My barley with fresh curd and wild mushrooms was also delicious. The wine list is superb and has reasonably priced options"

  • "I have dined at many high end restaurants in London as I take executives out for entertainment all the time so it takes a fair bit to impressive me. I took two directors for lunch at this restaurant this week. It was all our first time attending. All the little touches from the mini chairs for ladies' handbags (so they dont sit on the floor - loved the idea!!!!), to the complimentary mini desserts, were really well received. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and made some nice recommendations. It is difficult in London to stand out from the crowd as there as so many fabulous restaurants but it really was the SERVICE at Pollen Street Social that separated its restaurant from the others. 100% will take clients there again!"

  • "Having been recommended Pollen St - we went for lunch on a rainy April Monday! As soon as we entered we were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table - although there were quite a few business lunches we seemed to be separated from them which was appreciated. The food on the set lunch was excellent, well presented and explained by friendly staff, of which there were plenty. The "accessories" with the meal were a real treat and very tasty. Overall a most enjoyable experience that blew away our rainy Monday blues. Up there with the best and well worth visiting."

  • "A very enjoyable evening with theatre of dinning at its best. Great service great food and you get to sit and watch the kitchen in full glory while enjoying amazing desserts and coffees, don't miss the chance to experience this restaurant!"

  • "This was our third visit (we live in Manchester) and was my birthday treat. As before, service was outstanding, food and wine excellent and the set lunch menu incredible value for a Michelin-starred restaurant in Central London."

  • "But not as great as a was expecting. Food overall was very good but not excellent. For example, thought the beef that I had as a main was a little chewy. However, the wild garlic soup starter was very tasty. The lunch menu is good value but compared to other similar resturants (I.e. Texture) I found the food slightly less memorable."

  • "Fantastic service and great food. V.good meat and fish selection though vegetarian options very thin on the ground. Surroundings make for a buzzy atmosphere which adds to the experience. Great little touches with the canapes and the petit fours (the latter were excellent)"
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Perhaps the clue is in the restaurant name - this is a very "social" dining experience - we dined on an evening and to say the least the restaurant was very noisy, fairly cramped and not the place for a relaxed / quiet meal. Not helped by the multitude of staff dashing around in all directions. Overall however the food was good - only negative comment was the use of the black truffle on both the Halibut and Guinea Fowl mains which were (amazingly) overpowered by the rest of the dish - failing that there was something wrong with the truffle!!! Great cheese board and wine list."

  • "Stay a la carte the tasting menu was quite disappointing ( more style than substance ). Disappointed as I've eaten Jason Athertons food before and was impressed. Maybe just a bad night but this menu isn't as good or strong as previous ones and needs refining."

  • "one of the cheapest lunch menu places in London with a 1 michelin star! £29.50 lunch menu with canapes to start, starter, main, pre-dessert, dessert and then we had coffees with petit fours. The food was excellent all round and i will be back for sure."

  • "My second visit to Pollen Street Social was just as good as my first. This time we chose the a la carte menu which offers many tempting dishes and combinations of courses. The wine list is extensive and the sommeliers passionate about their profession. The sommeliers respond well to question and are happy suggesting alternatives to classic choices. The advice has proven to be excellent each time. I will certainly be returning to Pollen Street."

  • "The food was fantastic! The wine was Fantastic! It is a little expensive so be prepared to pay but it is most definitely worth the experience. The unique touches that they bring to the table in the canapes and petit fors is incredible. The sommelier is amazing, suggested a wonderful wine that was in our price range. All in all an excellent experience, I can not fault them on a moment! A treat as it is an expensive dining experience. Will return."

  • "I took my partner for a birthday meal at PSS and we were blown away. I've been before but this time the food was so incredible that it easily ranks as the best meal of my life, and the partner agrees! Worth every single penny."

  • "I had made a booking even prior to flying to London. It was on my friend's to-do list and having had lunch there, basically all the boxes are checked (great service, nice ambience, great food, not too pricey I felt - compared to prices in Asia). As I mentioned to the receptionist, it was worth the trouble to visit the restaurant."

  • "We went last Saturday for an anniversary lunch and think Pollen St Social is excellent. We had the lunch menu, which was really good value for money, and had we not over indulged on the wonderful wines advised by the sommelier, the bill would have been very reasonable! But we had a delicious wine with every course, which was an indulgence but each wine really complemented the food. The service was superb - attentive and solicitous without being over the too. Highly recommended."

  • "The food is creative and very good although I'd suggest avoiding the steak as it's good but nothing special while other dishes are excellent. There are two downsides (in addition to the difficulty of getting a reservation these days). The primary issue is the noise level. With all of the money spent on the place, it's disappointing they didn't use some materials that absorbed sound. The second issue is that the chairs are uncomfortable -- the padded benches are fine but the chairs, which probably cost a lot, left my back complaining."

  • "We went to Pollen Street Social on Thursday night to celebrate my partners birthday. A couple of drinks from the extensive bar kicked the evening off to a perfect start......I have never seen so many variations of Gin, what a treat! For our meal we opted for the Taster Menu and it proved to be the perfect choice for a special occasion as we were escorted through 8 courses of delight -both in taste and visually. We moved over to the dessert bar for our last few courses and had the added pleasure of seeing the kitchen in action and our beautiful desserts being prepared. The service was impeccable throughout and the whole experience was quite simply ..... special."

  • "As ever Pollen Street Social was exceptional. An imaginative menu. Perfectly cooked and presented food. The service was attentive and intelligent yet unobtrusive. The whole restaurant gives that little bit extra. It is good value for money especially the set lunch menu. I will be back soon."

  • "I recently went to pollen street for a lunch menu and was not disappointed. The food has so much flavour in every bite, soo moorish!! Service was not rushed and very efficient. A steal at £29 3 courses. Try the desert bar, its amazing!"

  • "The food, wine and ambience at this restaurant are excellent. It is a real foodie's delight. However, it is also very expensive so is for a special treat and the portions are small for a male appetite. Was fine for me."

  • "This was my second visit to this excellent restaurant and it´s fulfilled my expectations again. What was taking the experience down this time was the loud volume in the local so it was hard to hear the presentations of the dishes. But the food was very good and well cooked with surprising taste combination that made me smile. This was definitely not the last time I come to Pollen Street."
