Pollen Street SocialOne of the best RestaurantsOne of the best Restaurants in London by far . Really could not find anything at fault.
Food and attention to detail excelled.17/05/2013 00:00:00A mixed review...If we turn up 15 mins early & say we'll sit down in the bar for cocktails, don't hassle us to go straight to our table & do notice we're there & give us the drinks menus before you give them to the people who arrived after us. The dessert was awful - the chocolate coral was a technical triumph but tasted dreadful & there was way too much of it. Last time we came, the desert was as good a course as all of the others.
Attendance to detail in the cooking remains excellent &service is also, mainly, very good. Dessert was rectified by offering cheese for free. Would I recommend Pollen Street Social - of course. everyone has an off day & it still remains one of my favourite places (unless it happens again).17/05/2013 00:00:00BrilliantThe best starter ever, breakfast quail.....sublime15/05/2013 00:00:00Great food and serviceNo complaints at all with food and service. We had the tasting menu and they happily substituted the meat dishes for one of us. All of the food was very well presented and all tasted as good as any we have had in Michelin restaurants. Slight quibble that the chocolate dessert is too rich after the mixture of the tasting menu. Needed something more refreshing. There is not a great ambience, though, and I would not choose it for a 'special' meal with friends.15/05/2013 00:00:00Wonderful Meal. This was my first trip to The Pollen Street Social and it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. It was a very relaxed dining experience. All the staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful with out being over the top. The food was really delicious. I had the smoked salmon to start with which was excellent. The stand out dish for me was the salt marsh lamb. I can't discribe just how wonderful it was. The friends I dined with were both very impressed with the restaurant.I have already recommended it to a few people and hope to go back soon.15/05/2013 00:00:00Jason Atherton's food - wowEven better than the high standard we expected! Innovative, exciting but above all delicious and served in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The staff seem to enjoy being there as much as the diners. Scallop sashimi to start and PBJ dessert were amazing!!14/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent service & wonderful foodI rather liked being asked by the waiter what I thought of some of the dishes. Little piles of steak tartare with a dribble of mustard sauce, garnished with teeny pickled vegetables, were delicious. I would have liked the pork belly again, but my companion chose it, so I had braised neck of lamb, which was tender and full of flavour. One new potato, though, was so al dente that I nearly had a Pretty Woman moment whilst attempting to cut it. Pollen St Social's take on Eton Mess is to die for. Very pretty and strawberry-y.14/05/2013 00:00:00My friend and I visited theMy friend and I visited the restaurant for lunch on Monday 13 May. The service was excellent; the staff were very friendly and attentive. We made our selection from the set lunch menu. Our starter of crab salad was light and refreshing with well balanced flavours. The main course of belly pork and pork cheek was delicious. We were then asked if we would like to sit at the dessert bar to have our dessert and we happily agreed. It was interesting to watch them preparing the desserts and we were given several complimentary items to sample. We could also watch the kitchen staff, through a glass wall and sliding door, working in synchronicity....joy to watch. Will visit again.13/05/2013 00:00:00Service makes food even betterCounted seven different servers approach, take an order, deliver food, deliver beverage or clear the table. The staff is exceptionally well trained, from the greeter to the servers they all make the pricey food and beverage worth the experience of dining there.10/05/2013 00:00:00The finest foods in relaxed styleJason's menu demonstrates his talent as a master of flavour.
Combining fine ingredients to produce balanced dishes that satisfy without being overly rich. The menu includes a fine set of vegetarian options, has been designed for the palate and not for media headlines (as a certain chef named after an M4 service station has resorted to - I fondly remember the Fat Duck of the 1990's). Great bar too!08/05/2013 00:00:00great experiencethe food was excellent most enjoyable and the service matched. would recommend this restaurant it was a superb . do yourselves a favour and try it.!!07/05/2013 00:00:00SO GOODThis is the second time that I have been to Pollen Street Social and I have to say this is a wonderful dinning experience. The food was excellent from start to finish. The service was very efficient, and very friendly and helpful. I will be going back for certain. I recommended this for everyone to go to. I can't wait for Jason's other London restaurant opening.07/05/2013 00:00:00Great set menu lunchWe had a lovely lunch, great value set menu with a good selection of options. And the sommilier was brilliant in recommending matching wines with each course so we could try different ones by the glass. All were spot on, delicious and great value. All topped by good service and buzzy atmosphere. Still as good as when it first opened!04/05/2013 00:00:00OutstandingThe food, service and ambience were all faultless; an imaginative menu offering beautiful food, served in a relaxed atmosphere by knowledgeable and friendly - but not fussy - staff. Cannot recommend highly enough.04/05/2013 00:00:00Friendly foodie have the PollenFriendly foodie have the Pollen St Social did not dissapoint. I love the innovative menu and resonably priced wine list. Service was warm and perfectly judged. I will be back.03/05/2013 00:00:00GoodFood was very good. Nice presentation and taste.
Friendly service except for the receptionist.02/05/2013 00:00:00Fifth time here and it stillFifth time here and it still doesnt disappoint
wonderful food & service
Cant wiat to go back again !01/05/2013 00:00:00Worth goingFirst time here. Came here for lunch, very busy but luckily we booked in advance. Set lunch excellent value. Service outstanding. Thought it was going to be posh and formal but in fact we felt very relaxed and comfortable. This is a good place to meet up for business lunch, though I suspect if you want to talk serious business, it might be a bit noisy as the tables were quite close to each other. Good place to meet friends for lunch or after and before shopping.01/05/2013 00:00:00Brilliant birthdayA wonderful experience for a birthday occasion. Fantastic service, superb food with every course triumphant. Had tasting menu. Crab was slightly too strong with coriander for two of our party, still an enjoyable dish. One had a shellfish allergy, no problems for them - went to vegetarian menu and had two courses from there - delicious. Turbot was a revelation. Lamb was outstanding. Service attentive but not overbearing. Would like to return for another birthday dinner.30/04/2013 00:00:00Ladies that lunch experience.Four of us had lunch on Tuesday for no particular reason other than to meet up for a chat and a good meal. This was made especially memorable by the excellent food, attention to detail, ambience and the friendly staff. We left thoroughly satisfied having eaten some very special creative dishes, without breaking the bank. Finishing the meal with a choice of delicious chocolates and macaroons made our experience extra special.30/04/2013 00:00:00Birthday mealWe visited for a special occasion and it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was I interesting, very tasty, beautifully presented and arrived quickly. We had desert sitting at the desert bar and watched the chefs and Jason Atherton in the kitchen. The deserts were delicious and we were given some lovely samples to try too. My partner was given a little birthday cake in a special box. All in all it was a fantastic and also interesting experience and I didn't want to leave. I will be telling everyone and hope to be able to go back soon!30/04/2013 00:00:00Very relaxed place, serviceVery relaxed place, service was excellent. Very good wine choices by the glass. Food was superb.27/04/2013 00:00:00A Lazy Friday LunchI booked this at the last minute so that my best friend and I could have a bday treat. A long and lazy girlie lunch on a Friday. Pollen Street didn't disappoint Amazing food, gorgeous wine, great atmosphere and fantastic service. We happily laughed, scoffed and drank!! At one point we started chatting to the people next to us which was lovely and social.
As for food we had the Scallop Sashimi, Deer Tartare, Cote du Beouf and then shared cheese. All were amazing. As is the wine list .... we were like kids in a sweet shop. A great day. We will be back.26/04/2013 00:00:00great, imaginative and tastygreat, imaginative and tasty food. small servings so didn't feel too bloated and yucky afterwards. Service was absolutely impeccable - so helpful, friendly, efficient without being too intrusive. Free small dishes/amuse bouches between courses. It was my partner's birthday and they remembered from when I first booked months ago and they gave him a small delicious cake to take home for free. A lovely dining experience.24/04/2013 00:00:00Tasting Menu - The BestMy girlfriend and I were celebrating her birthday and so we chose to treat ourselves with the tasting menu and were not disappointed. Each dish was fantastic and, teamed with extremely friendly and approachable staff that are rarely seen in the more uptight Michelin restaurants, the whole experience will not be forgotten. A must.22/04/2013 00:00:00Amazing, the attention toAmazing, the attention to detail was fantastic and it three out of the four people in our party were celebraring birthdays. We mentioned this when booking and each of us were presentend with a mini birthday cake, gift boxed, for us to take away with us! Ther food was fantastic and the service excellent, would definately recommend this to anyone and already have done son.20/04/2013 00:00:00Perfection on platesThis was the best restaurant meal I have had all year and probably for about a decade and I eat out quite a lot. Every course was simply stunning. Service was attentive but not overbearing, the menu was inventive and varied, great culinary skill was on display, ingredients were top notch, the wine list was imaginative and extensive. A truly memorable meal.20/04/2013 00:00:00What an amazing dinner!Absolutely delicious food - very modern and innovative but with classical flavours. Particularly wonderful was the service, which was extremely attentive and the sommelier was so friendly. Since it was my daughter's birthday and she is a keen cook and chose the restaurant, she got to go into the kitchens and watch some of the dishes be prepared, which she thoroughly enjoyed. An excellent evening and a delicious dinner! We hope to come again and will certainly be trying out the dessert bar next time!20/04/2013 00:00:00Birthday dinnerFood was excellent
Service amazing
Window seat - great people watching both within the restaurant and acroos the street at their new sister restaurant ' Little Pollen'19/04/2013 00:00:00Great Food, Great ServiceWell looked after without being obtrusive. Enjoyed the happy, enthuastic manor of the staff. Food was very well cooked and presented.
Did not dissappoint. I wish I stayed for coffee and watched the kitchen work now!15/04/2013 00:00:00Amazing food, service and ambience1 Michelin star? Not for long the second will not be far behind! An amazing dining experience. The desert bar was a great arena to end our meal.13/04/2013 00:00:00Great valueOUTSTANDING quality. We went for the lunch menu and it was great value for the price/ quality. After our meal, we got whisked to the bar counter (beside the kitchen) to have our dessert. It was great sitting outside the kitchen to watch all the action and effort the entire team spent in preparing the meals. Amazing experience. Booking another visit soon!13/04/2013 00:00:00Amazing foodAmazing food, great ambience, attentive service...12/04/2013 00:00:00Extra special diningWe enjoyed lunch for four and every dish was delicious and in some cases truly exceptional. Service was very attentive without being oppressive and the whole ambience from the room to the presentation of food and cocktails was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.11/04/2013 00:00:00Great food, nice atmosphere,Great food, nice atmosphere, and excellent service. An all-round very good experience. I quite like the concept of their dessert bar! It's a shame they don't have a tasting menu, as this seems just the place that should have one.11/04/2013 00:00:00PSS - nothing to add! This restaurant provided a wonderful night out for a pair of elderly provincial foodies. The ambience was calm and welcoming on arrival although the noise levels rose as tables filled up with enthusiastic diners. It is named 'social', after all! The staff were efficient but had time to be friendly and appropriately chatty. The food was wonderful. We had the tasting menu which was a succession of taste and texture sensations. The size of portions allowed us to just feel full by the final mouthfuls. An expensive experience but worth every penny.11/04/2013 00:00:00Wonderful Michelin lunchA fabulous experience with the set lunch menu - we ended up paying £77 for two of us which included three courses plus bread, amuse bouche, pre-dessert, coffee and multiple petit fours. Service was charming throughout and everything was completely delicious - my main of deer with beetroots, red onions and mash was simply one of the nicest things I've ever eaten.
A la carte is too expensive but the cooking was so good that I think we will be going back to try the tasting menu.08/04/2013 00:00:00Monday lunch 8th AprilI booked lunch at PSS on the recommendation of someonei who had not actually eaten there but thought I would appreciate the experience. Also I was after a central restaurant to take my sister for a birthday lunch. After an initial disappointing start when we were offered a table which was clearly too close to the diners on either side we were shown to a better one, still relatively near to our neighbours on either side, but much better.
The wine waiters were attentive and we started off with a glass of Prosecco and chose from the set menu. One of the things which made the meal special was the little unexpected extras.
It was great value for a top class restaurant. 10 out of 10 to all the staff! Also lovely loos!08/04/2013 00:00:00Had a superb meal. Staff wereHad a superb meal. Staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again.06/04/2013 00:00:00v good but let down a bit by fohI wanted to treat some very special friends to a luxurious 8 course tasting menu and this restaurant did this for me. It's not quite as attentive as the Manoir, Anthony's or the Sir Charles Napier but once we got to our table it was terrific food and service. The wine waiter was particularly superb she did a fantastic job. We enjoyed our night and ate some fabulous inventive food. I would definitely go again.06/04/2013 00:00:00Fantastic!I took my wife here for her birthday for lunch and it was great. the food was amazing with loads of little extra surprises including a birthday cake for my wife for us to take home, and the venison we both had was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The service was great for the vast majority of the meal and the sommelier did not make me feel any less important than any other guest when I asked for a beer with my meal, which he selected to match my food. We went to the dessert bar and was well looked after by the pastry chefs which was fun. The only critisism I had was that at the end of the meal we felt a little forgotten as the staff cleared down from lunch and prepared for dinner. Definately a meal to remember.06/04/2013 00:00:00Just fantastic! The service,Just fantastic! The service, ambience, and food just sublime. Could not fault any part of it. Exceptional .05/04/2013 00:00:00Go its fantasic, book ahead. This was the best lunch that my husband & I have had in a very long time & we are foodies!!! I booked for my husbands birthday but didnt mention it until the end where upon a little box arrived with a scrummy mini chocolate cake in it, how lovely. The whole place is so nice & i am sure would be as good in the evening.
If you can you must go as its getting a lot of good press(rightly so) it may become hard to get a table.04/04/2013 00:00:00Worth the wait to goWanted to go for a while and had to book in advance to get a Saturday table, well worth the wait30/03/2013 00:00:00Great placePSS is a great place to have lunch, I visited twice on a Saturday once with my husband and also a group of girlfriends.
It's chilled and relaxed. The food is superb, great value if you chose the set lunch.
The staff are very friendly, PSS manages to maintain a good chilled atmosphere whilst serving fantastic food. Sometimes I have posh restaurants in town loose the chilled factor this place certainly doesn't.30/03/2013 00:00:00Ambience that sets it apartThe restaurant was lovely food - we had the tasting menu and found that the space between courses was
very well judged. There were some quirky but very lovely tasting dishes but also some more classic dishes such as the turbot served with a clam chowder sauce which was the highlight of the evening for both my boyfriend and I (who normally prefer the meat courses).
We were there for my boyfriends birthday & somehow our waiter had deduced this & presented him, very discereety, with a birthday cake in a box at the end. Thiswas just one example of their excellent service. The staff made the ambience -ensuring a relaxed and perfectly enjoyable evening! If only more high end restaurants offered a deformalised dining experience like this.30/03/2013 00:00:00Amazing!This place was fantastic! I felt so spoilt being there. I never felt rushed. We were given the perfect amount of attention. Everyone that worked there knew what they had to do - it was a slick, efficient well run place.
The staff were wonderful and the food was amazing!! It was a great afternoon out! So good I have booked to go again for another birthday treat with friends in a couple months!!30/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent service from theExcellent service from the sommelier who was helpful and informative. Some dishes on our tasting menu were excellent, the others were very good.29/03/2013 00:00:00An incredible dining experienceAn incredible dining experience with the utmost attention to detail and quite honestly one of the best gastronomic experiences I've ever had. Would not hesitate to recommend and am looking forward to returning again soon.28/03/2013 00:00:00Working LunchWorking lunch 3 Courses for £29. Plenty of complementary petit fours, which adds a nice touch to the meal.
All courses were well cooked and presented. Adequately sized portions.
Great value lunch, well worth a visit.25/03/2013 00:00:00
