Diner Reviews
  • "Booked the top table menu after having been to the O2 to see a matinee show on a Saturday. We booked for 6pm, and were the only ones eating in the restaurant until about 7.30pm! Most went to the bar first, which was very nice, positioned against the windows so you could overlook canary wharf. Service was very good, very attentive but made you feel very comfortable. Food was very good, but the wine list is very pricey. So the top table menu was fairly good value for money, 4 courses plus a glass of champagne for £30, but if you want to add a bottle or glass of wine then the price will definitely go up!"

  • "From time to time, my wife joins me in London for a romantic evening. We have a meal, maybe catch a show and stay over in a hotel. This is the second time we've dined at the Plateau Restaurant and was again delighted by the experience. Wonderful food on the set meal with a glass of champagne, good value, excellent service. Would definitely recommend."

  • "I took my fiance to Plateau restaurant for his birthday dinner. The food, atmosphere and service were top notch as always. The waiter gave us a lovely table by the window with beautiful views. I had the octopus salad for starter and cod with barley as main, and I was pleased with my selections. The courses were larger than usual French restaurant portions, very tasty, and not too heavy. The birthday cupcake & petit four was a very nice touch to end a lovely meal. We'll be back soon."

  • "Absolutely loved this stylish and classy looking restaurant from the first moment we walked in. The spectacular view was breathtaking, We couldn't stop gazing at the lights of Canary Wharf and it's environs, throughout the meal. The atmosphere was very relaxing yet formal enough to know that the customer's dining experience would be very important. Rather un -adventurously, we both had the crab starter and Lobster main but these proved to be an excellent choice. The floating islands for dessert were an exceptional and very attractive treat, all the food was beautifully presented. We were pleasantly surprised by the bill too. We will definitely be returning and recommending the restaurant to others."

  • "This was supposed to be a Mother's Day treat. It was a shame the standard of food did not live up to the excellent service and the great ambience of the place. Maybe it was the fixed Mother's Day menu that was a let down."

  • "The service was good and our waiters couldn't have been nicer. However the food was not worth the money. We had a chicken liver starter which was dry and tasteless, the fish main was covered in a green sauce and full of bones- it was cold and just awful. The beef was nice but nothing special- completely overrated"

  • "We went here because there was a food offer, but it was a great place to go for dinner. Love the views over the Canary Wharf tower, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was very good (but not absolutely sensational) but still a very pleasant evening."

  • "I had dinner with my girlfriend on saturday night and it was the best dinner experience we ever had. We went for the feasting menu with wine paring. Awesome. Staff really friendly and knowledgeable. Luca, the restaurant manager, looked after us in a extremely professional way. Definitely we will be back soon."

  • "Excellent restaurant, I have eaten there several times before, my girlfriend hasn't and I took her for her 30th birthday. They did an excellent job and even brought her a few sweet treats at the end with a candle in! This is still one of my favorite London restaurants!"

  • "Plateau is expensive, but worth it. The gourmet menu was delicious, the service outstanding and the setting is beatiful."

  • "For a restaurant with such a wonderful view and attentive staff, I'm sorry to report that the quality of the food was mediocre at best. We ate in the restaurant (as oppose to the bar/grill, which was naturally much livelier) and while the menu was sparse enough to indicate real confidence and quality, unfortunately neither of these elements shone through. My halibut was tepid and completely lacking in flavour. My companion's spinach and ricotta ravioli was slightly better but nothing to write home about. Perhaps these were just two poor/unlucky choices, but if not then this was a dining experience of "all show and no go"."

  • "A really good restaurant with an amazing view of Canary Wharf. The service was fast and perfect, the champagne was great and the food was really good. However, if you are searching for something very quiet, then maybe it's not exactly the place (with the bar nearby). But still, it was a great experience."

  • "Food was lovely, space is bright and open. Service as always, perfect."

  • "The atmosphere is good in this busy city restaurant though a view of the waterfront was not possible. An extensive menu and wine list provide a very comprehensive choice of French/French inspired cuisine. My guest's scallop ceviche in paricular was excellent. The menus from the grill are very different to those in the main restaurant - it is a shame that one could not for example share a beef rib on the main restaurant A La Carte There were some interesting wines but the mark up was ridiculous - would have been better to have an increased range of wines by the glass. Expensive, especially when an automatic 12.5% service charge is added but I guess this is to be expected in stockbroker belt when there are clear issues of supply and demand"

  • "Great view. I have been before and on previous visits there was more choice. Limited menu options on set menu. Service was a little overly attentive/ intrusive. Coffee offered foc as many bones in fish, which was a nice touch."

  • "Great service, superb food and brilliant views. Memorable - again! Only detraction was a group of nearby diners with no manners - loud arguments, frequent phone calls and no sense of social awareness or thought for others. If I had owned the restaurant, I would have thrown them out!"

  • "Good food and a nice set menu. The service lacked somewhat however, somewhat of an intrusive waiter."

  • "I went to Plateau on Friday evening with friends. The food was just fabulous but the service was just amazing. The general manager should be very proud of his staff. They were professional but not snooty and couldn't have been friendlier. We will definitely be returning!"

  • "Went with my husband for a special occasion. We had the gourmet taster menu & matched wines-£69 each- what a waste of money-we had high expectations as we'd had this sort of menu in lots of other resturants. We were very disappointed. Firstly we had a table that was set for 4 people-had reserved the table a month in advance! It was really drafty. The maitre d' was overly familiar & couldn't speak English so was unable to explain the dishes - they were so tastless, salty & overcooked it was difficult to tell what we were eating-apart from the beef which was fine. The service was pretensious & very rushed. We had 2 iced course following each other-very odd.Went to the Hilton on Canary Wharf the next night which had great food at half the price."

  • "Sampled the Evening Standard Offer menu; 3 courses for £25 with a glass of champagne, good value and a good selection of dishes on the menu. Our party enjoyed the slow cooked belly pork and the beef but the venison from the a la carte menu was delicious also, beautifully cooked. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Setting was very pleasant, provided great ambience for a romantic evening but relaxed enough for friends to dine together also. All of our party enjoyed the experience and will certainly be eating at Plateau again."

  • "We had booked this event over 5 weeks in advance . I had made it known that I had some dietary discretions, though these were acknowledged there appeared to be lack of preparation for this . I had to have sorbet twice, once pre desert and as desert as there were no alternatives. We had to return the fish as it was undercooked . The staff were very apologetic , and I would handle the situation and the service very well. I say another dinner also return their fish . This is the second time I have been there , I would recommend the a la carte menu , and not the fixed. The staff were very helpful and attentive ."

  • "This was my second vist to plateau and again had a lovely dinner, at first look the portions seem a little small but everyone of our group said they were full by the end of our 3 courses. The wine list can look a little daunting but actually there are a number of very reasonable priced good wines along with the more expensive ones. We ate there on the evening standard offer which is brilliant value and the reasturant certaily didn't change its fantastic service because of the offer."

  • "This is my 2nd visit in 2 months. I was so impressed when taken for dinner by a client that I took my friend for her birthday. Its a stunning evening location in Docklands. The staff were incredible on both occasions. friendly and attentive but not too much. The food was amazing and they had an extensive vegetarian menu, which was another reason for taking my friend there for her birthday. It's not cheap but its good value for money for the occasion. It's now high on my favourite's list."

  • "I booked this venue for my husband's birthday for a surprise. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who assisted with our coats, we were then led through the busy bar to the lovely restaurant. We had a fabulous seat overlooking the ice skating rink which made the experience more pleasurable. The food was excellent, the free champagne was a lovely extra, the lighting was perfect and Pedro the Italian waiter was extremely friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The service at Plateau was just great - all staff were friendly and not pushy. The Evening standard offer was great value and the food was yum! Great ambience to the place, has a really cool yet non-pretentious vibe to it and was perfect for a Friday night catch up with a friend."

  • "Great location. Helpful friendly staff. Im not a wine buff but was not treated with distain by the sommelier who was very tolerant of my ignorance!"

  • "Perfect venue for a bubbly unpretentious night out - food was great and service could not be faulted. Really lively atmosphere in opulent surroundings but having a really relaxed feel without the "try hards". Its nice to go to an upmarket restaurant without feeling you are on show"

  • "We went to Plateau on a Wednesday evening for the Evening Standard 3 course menu with a glass of champagne. We started with a cocktail in the bar and the staff from the moment we arrived could not have been nicer. Having arrived earlier than my friend I was guided to a more comfortable seat than I had selected and immediately furnished with a glass of water and nibbles and the drinks menu. Once at our table our excellent waiter, Pietro, was attentive without being intrusive whilst we dined on our delicious choices (particularly the Iles flottantes, pink praline with crème Anglaise). It was nice to watch the ice skaters on the ice rink below and the ambience of the restaurant was just right. It was a lovely evening."
