Diner Reviews
  • "we really enjoyed our meal at plateau, it was a quiet evening with a nice view by the window food arrived very promptly was very nicely cooked and presented, nothing was to much trouble for the staff who are very friendly and polite without being intrusive, and desert was as usual stupendous "

  • "I have been at Plateau 3 times so far and I must say that their a la carte dishes are far superior to their set menu. In generally Plateau offers a nice atmosphere with a good view of Canary Wharf. But the sound vibrations are very strong in the restaurant so it always feels very loud in there. Apart from those two points, Plateau is generally a good choice for a lunch or an after work meal. The fact that the restaurant always feels loud inside makes it less suitable for romantic meals."

  • "The Bar and Grill never reaches the heights of culinary excellence that its big sister does, but still lives up to Plateau's good name, offers great views of Canary Wharf and is good value: only slightly more expensive than premium pub food. My fiancée was delighted with the potato and leek soup and my starter of duck egg and asparagus was so perfectly seasoned it felt like a full meal in itself. Our mains were a superb duck confit and the newly-introduced (?) triple pork burger. The duck was beautifully cooked, and the pork burger was delicious, multi-textured and generous (though perhaps not subtle enough by Plateau's standards). We were too full in the end to try dessert, which is a shame as the blood orange ice cream looked wonderful."

  • "Great views, great service but my steak was not fresh which is a shame as the rest of the meal was tremendous."

  • "As usal, the food was good and the staff very good."

  • "I have eaten at Plateau many times before, but this was the first time I went there for lunch. Food was simple and basic. The recommended chocolate cake - desert was ver dry. There was hardly anything special about the menu. Felt that I could have had the same food at the Canteen's across the road. On the positive note the champagne cocktail (with passion fruit) was very good."

  • "I took my mum here for an early mothers day lunch and we both absolutely loved it! The service was excellent - friendly and attentive. The food was delicious (and really good portion sizes- which is important because we are big eaters!!) and extremely reasonable. Great setting and very relaxed ambience. We will definitely be returning!"

  • "This was my fourth visit to Plateau, this time in the bar and grill. The buzz in the bar is great, the service for me, very impressive. It's often hard to believe they can serve such high quality, well cooked food for such a great price. My cocktail cost more than my main of the most tender beef I've had in a long while. My friend had the chicken which is also a favourite of mine, good portion sizes and not in the least dry. Finished off with the delicious upside down plum cake and coffees. Three course meal for two, with cocktails and coffee for about £70. Looking forward to going again."

  • "The top table set menu was excellent value, and the food was very good. However we had to ask twice to get the menu and my dining partner ordered a glass of wine to go with the main course but it didnt arrive until he'd almost finished it. Hopefully these faults were down to it being a busy friday evening."

  • "Lovely restaurant, great views. It's just a shame that the food was not particularly inspiring... Service was OK, expected a bit better for a Tuesday night as it wasn't overly busy. Worth a visit but with this many decent restaurants in such a small area I won't be hurrying back."

  • "Our first visit to the Grill side. Really enjoyed my steak and the group I was with all enjoyed their meals."

  • "lunch with a friend and the 2 course offer. as always excellent. the service was absolutely brilliant, from reception to wardrobe and waiters. food was delicious and very well presented. we couldn't resist to at least share a dessert. so much we liked that we came back for dinner! a highly recommended place in canary wharf."

  • "I've been to Plateau a few times with different batches of friends. Every time going there is a pleasure. Great ambience, lovely view at night, good service. Would keep going back."

  • "Plateau is one of my favourite local places. It doesn't really surprise, but that's not a bad thing! The food & service are always consistently good, & with the set menu not bad value for money, though with service & drinks, it's still going to cost around £80."

  • "Very average in every way. Sat in the bar for over 5 minutes before offered a drink. Confusion when getting lead to the table. Food distinctly average for the setting. Some of the decor seemed a bit cheap."

  • "Food was delicious and topped off with great service from a waitress who recognised us and did everything possible to ehance our birthday lunch. Will definately go back"

  • "Great meal, but what made it special was the service. Could not fault the way we were treated! Thank-you!"

  • "Food was excellent, nice airy and light restaurant but a shame that the meal was let down by quite the rudest staff EVER. I was disgusted."

  • "My friend and I went for dinner here on a Thursday night and had a great time. It was quite busy so we were glad we had booked in advance. We were seated next to the window so had a really nice view, and the set menu was very good. Overall quite a nice experience."

  • "We arrived at the Plateau bar and grill via a private lift and was greeted by two very helpful and smiley hostesses, they gave us the option to either sit at the bar first or go straight to the table and we sat at the bar which was beautiful, had a glass of bubbly before our meal. Then once seated at an amazingly romantic table with incredible views of Canary Wharf we was waited on by the friendly and professional staff. We ordered a bottle of french white wine which was divine, starters were Smoked Salmon and the artichoke salad then we both had the special Bream with side orders of french fries and green beans, all the food was of good quality. However we paid a whopping £155 for it all, we felt it was all over priced."

  • "We took a friend who was visiting from out of town to Plateau for Saturday evening dinner, having heard good things from friends. We were not disappointed. The service was attentive without being overbearing, drinks beforehand were served at our table, as we had been given a window table with a lovely view of the Canary Wharf ice rink below. We shared starters of mini burgers and hotdogs which were fun and delicious, mains of pork chop from the josper and a delicious fish pie (great value at £12.50) and some fab desserts. A decent bottle of Gewurtztraminer and a glass each of dessert wine came in at £55/head. We will definitely be returning."

  • "For £15 for 2 courses and a glass of wine great value, great buzz and great service."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Booked special offer set menu, although advertised as 3 for £18, it was actually £20 but included glass of wine so overall good value! Food was nice although starter of maison terrine had large bone in it which was off putting! Not only did the 3 staff members (overkill) choose to reassure me it wasn't dangerous (!) it would have been nice if they offered complimentary drink or something. Main came straight away with no break and although no one likes to wait ages between courses, we felt a little rushed. Food overall was pretty good, nice location and great views although we had the service station right next to us and was v close to table. On booking we mentioned it was a special anniversary but they didn't acknowledge at all."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant. They have a Bar & Grill which i prefer and is alot more relaxed. Waiter was attentative but not too in your space. Wine was lovely. Overall the food is nice but dont order the fish pie as it is not that great compared to the other options on the menu!"

  • "Went there on the evening standard special of £18 for three course meal. The food was absolutely tantalising amazing. The service was great and the waiter even recommended the plum dessert when asked for a suggestion which was wonderfully tasty. The view and ambience is beautiful. Overall the experience was great and I would definitely recommend to others."

  • "Good food, lovely staff. Worth the slightly higher prices compared to other similar restaurants nearby."

  • "We were a group of five visiting the bar and grill for a casual evening. When we walked in we were amazed by how visually gorgeous the restaurant was, stunning enough for any special occasion. The ambience was great and the staff very attentive. I also loved the sound of the menu and the fusion of the ingredients listed. However, the restaurant was ultimately let down by the food itself. When it arrived, we were not 'wowed' as expected - particularly the meat dishes were bland and the general taste was just 'okay'. The restaurant is perfect on paper with all the components of a fabulous evening. They just need to perfect their food as ultimately, it is the food that will keep customers coming back and not the beauty of the venue."

  • "Good food, good service, great ambience and had their offer of 3 courses for £18.00. There for 4 options in each course which had a variety. Would definately go back again."

  • "lovely food very well presented. good portions and the best tarts in London !!, pastry chef is extremely good, I have enjoyed every one I have tried so far but the treacle tart is the best. we had a window table excellent service and were made very welcome , its always a pleasure to eat here."

  • "Met my wife for what we hoped would be a quick lunch during our busy days. The special offer menu at £15 for 2 courses, £18 for 3, offers good value. The ambience is good, the food of high quality and the service very friendly. However, the service was also desperately slow, to the point where our patience was exhausted waiting for our starters and main courses and we flagged down a waiter to find out how much longer for each course. At the outset we intended to have 3 courses, assuming that the few options on the special offer menu would arrive quite quickly. Alas, the 1.5 hours we had available were consumed getting just 2 courses. Our goodwill was restored by an apologetic waiter and complimentary espressos that arrived immediately."

  • "Booked under the ES £15 for two course offer and even though we only ordered one side dish as an extra we somehow racked up a bill of over £40...didn't realise this until i got home though. We were charged £3.50 for water when I had assumed we were drinking tap since we hadn't ordered any bottled water. Food was mixed - pollock was oversalted but came with a yum side of salad and octopus. Service was brisk but friendly. The best aspect of the dining experience was definitely the views (we had a window table) and the buzzy ambience of the suits and city types frequenting the restaurant. Ultimately, i would go back, Canary Wharf is sadly filled with generic chains and this is at least something different. Check the bill though!"

  • "Fantastic, service was great, cocktails outstanding... Lots of attention to detail. Great views and surrounding areas. Food perfect portions, flavours and menu. Would come here again even just for drinks after work."

  • "Nice view...although scenery not spectacular being in the City, and great food, beef rib just fell off the bone"
    dined on 13/01/2014
  • "Food fantastic quality and flavour - cooked and presented very well. The fixed price January offer menu was very good value. Service fell down a number of times: - wine list arrived eventually and eventually able to place a drinks order (do you not WANT to sell drinks?!) - Drinks orders were slow or forgotten 3 times - A passing waiter randomly tried to pour a jug of tap water (not ordered) into my sparkling mineral water (soooo close to NOT paying for my drinks now!!) - seemed to be served by competing waiters; which might explain the confusion over drinks and poor service - you guys need a manager and a service plan! Overall great food, a fun experience but not for the discerning service-minded"

  • "My friend and I had an excellent time at Plateau on a Saturday afternoon. The 2 courses for £15 was a complete bargain. My butternut squash soup was delicious, as was the bread. We both really enjoyed the braised rib of beef. The staff were friendly and attentive and the environment was relaxed but stylish."

  • "Booked Plateau for my birthday in summer, chosen for the view and good reviews. The view was very impressive but I was disappointed that the 'outdoor terrace' area was also the smokers' area, so unattractive to non-smokers. Also the bar was very close to the dining area and made for a rather noisier atmosphere than I was hoping for for a meal with my parents! Apart from that the food was very good as was the service. Would go back on a weekend day to avoid the bankers crowding round the bar."

  • "I would highly recommend the restaurant, good value for money also on the fixed price menu. Great views over the ice-skating rink and wintery Canary Wharf lighting features, very romantic. Do not let the lift entrance by waitrose put you off, as its lovely once in the venue itself. Staff were very attentive and the venue had a great atmosphere on a Saturday evening. Was impressed!"
