A word from Peyote
Peyote restaurant and bar officially opened in November 2013, at 13 Cork Street in Mayfair, London. Launched by Tarun Mahrotri and Arjun Waney (Zuma, Roka, Arts Club), the modern Mexican restaurant uses fresh, seasonal ingredients, offering traditional favourites with a modern twist. Eduardo García of the hugely popular Máximo Bistro in Mexico City partnered with Tarun; he collaborated on the menu and worked with head chef Hili Sharabani (previously at Buddha Bar in Knightsbridge and Nobu Park Lane). The dishes – from tacos to sharing platters and à la carte plates – are delicately balanced and beautifully crafted. Highlights include Cactus salad; Tuna laminado; Crab-avocado tostada; Fish or Pork pibil tacos; Chuletón y salsa borracha (rib eye with salsa); Stone bass with guajillo sauce; and Churros with chocolate sauce.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "For the price the food is simply not worth it. Much better food elsewhere in the area. If you must have Mexican then wahaca is simply miles better food wise. One redeeming feature is the churro's. Would only go back to have a drink and these, the rest is a waste. Server could not understand what we said, everthing took 2-3 tries; they had no cactus so a lot of dishes unavailable. Will have to either step up the food, step down the price, or step into failure.."

  • "The tables are embarrisingly close together, so much so that if you are the unfortunate one with your back to the wall, you will have to put your behind in your neighbours' dinner in order to get out - this is regarldess of whether you are a size 0 like the majority of the clientelle or a standard size ten. The music by the inhouse DJ was fabulous, the best thing about the place. The eurotrash crowd was not such a hit. Some dishes were good but London still fails to do good Mexican food..."
