A word from Patara - Soho
One of a family of worldwide restaurants, London’s Patara restaurant brings sophisticated Thai dining to Soho’s Greek Street. Tastefully decorated with plenty of atmosphere thanks to subdued lighting, huge pots of orchids, flickering candles, silk-covered banquettes and Thai figurines inlaid with glass mosaic tiles, it’s ideal for a romantic dinner for two. The Patara kitchen is ambitious, producing excellent creations of classic Thai cuisine like tom yum goong soup; beef with green curry and;, of course, pad Thai noodles. The service is renowned for its excellence and the wine list begins at a reasonably-priced level. Someone in the kitchen has an eye for beauty, too, because at Patara restaurant each dish is exquisitely arranged to delight your eye as well as your palate. Patara Thai restaurant is a haven from Soho’s scruffiness; a glamorous, romantic, authentic, professional spot for an excellent dining experience. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food is delicious and beautifully presented but outrageously over priced for a basic Thai restaurant. We will not be returning."

  • "We went here for a dinner date. Service was fantastic - food was excellent (a bit pricey). Atmosphere spoiled a bit by a hen party - but otherwise I would recommend."

  • "Great experience, quick service although sometimes perhaps they wandered off when you wanted a menu etc but food really was very tasty and interesting."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "It was almost impossible to have a conversation with my colleagues at this restaurant, the food was good but it didn't have the relaxing atmosphere to enjoy it."

  • "Great location in soho close to many of the big theatres. Good atmosphere is the restaurant and really nice food. We would defintley go back."

  • "I ate in Patara's Soho restaurant on a Monday evening with an old friend. Having visited the sister restaurant just off Regent Street last year, we both had high expectations in terms of the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have to say that this restaurant disappointed on both counts. The service was haphazard (to put it kindly) with orders being forgotten about and mixed up with other tables. The food was OK, but lacked the sparkle of our previous experience. Atmosphere was lacking, maybe due to it being a Monday night, but overall we left feeling distinctly disappointed for the price paid."

  • "Beautiful tasty food again. The slow cooked beef, king prawn Pad Thai and side dish of sugar snap peas were fantastic. Lovely romantic vibe but would also go with a friend or for business. Have only ever been to the Soho restaurant will be trying the others when in the areas. service is always good and so it the waiting time for food. Can get very busy."

  • "One of the best Thai restaurants in London. Their 2 course lunch specials are a great deal. Their Tom Yum goong is amazing!"
    dined on 29/07/2013
  • "The lunch menu of £12.95 for 2 dishes is a great deal. The food here is always fresh and flavoursome."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Amazing food and cocktails, service was good all the way till the end when we were brought the bill without asking for it."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "The title says it all really. Lovely food; but the service was abysmal. Took about 40 minutes before our drinks order was even taken and about an hour before we actually received any drinks (despite repeatedly being offered other table's orders!). Half the staff don't speak very good english, and you therefore have to repeatedly ask various people for your order before you find someone who understands you. I'd recommend this place for the food and it was also fairly good value; but don't go there if you're in a hurry or really hungry/thirsty as you'll be waiting a while."

  • "Food was wonderful each course served with care and attention. The staff were friendly and knowledgable around the food and wine lol forward to my next visit"
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Food was very nice. Starters: scallops with chilli and lime (excellent), the satay trio, and the stuffed chicken wings. Mains were duck breast in garlic and chilli sauce (very good) and the lamb shank in red coconut curry (excellent). Food came out very quickly after ordering, but the service was not great. 3-4 different waiter/waitressess came to our table and kept asking the same thing, one waiter tried clearing our tabke while i still had a fork in my hand and food in my plate. After the meal they kept on asking if we wanted dessert, despiting me saying to give us some time as we had just finished eating I was trying to have a conversation with my partner. However the staff were always polite, if just a bit disorganised. Quite expensive"

  • "Had a curry which was very sweet (as in with lots of sugar in it) the mango salad with a deep fried crab that was bursting with oil and some fish in broth which was actually delicious. I also had this Pimm (Pamm?) cocktail which was watered down and lacking flavor and a pinot grigio which was delicious. So overall a mixed bag, average thai experience for twice the price. Not impressed and next time I'll take my thai craving behind some place else."

  • "Due to working/ socialising in the city we thought we would venture into the West End for a change. We both like Thai food so with the great reviews and it's proximity to Oxford Street the PATARA was the obvious choice for us. From beginning to end the dining experience was a pleasure and we both enjoyed the 3 courses we had. Service speed was also incredible quick and always with a smile. The only negative was the £3.95 bottle of sparkling water lol. 9.5/10"

  • "We ate at this lovely restaurant a few months ago and have not stopped talking about it since, which is normally a recipe for disappointment. I am pleased to say that it was every bit as good as the first time, the staff are friendly but not over attentive, the restaurant welcoming and the food, all different selections to the last time, simply superb."
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "Very poor service, nothing special about the food and menu, definitely not worth the price you pay for it. Good ambience, decor and delicious cocktails but the food was a massive let down and the service even worse."
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "For someone that thoroughly enjoys Thai food, this restaurant really did meet all my expectations. I would definitely recommend if you love authentic Thai food and have an eye for detail. The food was presented well and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. They were able to suggest good vegetarian dishes."
    dined on 09/01/2014
  • "Excellent service and great food. I am often dining here and there has never been a change in the service or quality."

  • "Went before theatre.Service was brilliant, food was absolutely delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer and eaten slower. Will return for a lengthy stay next time"

  • "If you'd like somewhere special for an occasion, this is it. Prices have gone up since we last went, but as long as you're ok with that, then you'll have a great time as the food is fantastic and ambience lovely."
    dined on 12/11/2013
  • "We'd been shopping all day and fancied something tasty... Thai was the decision, so we used TopTable to locate a restaurant close by with good reviews and this came top of the list. We weren't disappointed. We both had the green chilly chicken curry and it tasted just how it should ... delicious!"
    dined on 19/12/2013
  • "Want dinner & cocktails in the middle of town? Love Thai food but after a classier south-east asian spin? Then this is the place. You wont find all the usual Thai classics as this spot lit, sleek joint aims a little higher up the culinary scale. To start, swerve the deep fried spring rolls & order the super fresh & fiery Tuna tartare. The Prawn Green curry doesn't disappoint despite an abundance of pineapple. Opt for the HUGE smooth & spicy lamb shank curry or the melt in the mouth Black Cod. Champagne cocktails add a fabulous fizz as does the sharp & slick service."

  • "Ate here about 2 years ago and the experience this time wasn't undermined by the memory - another wonderful, delightful and beautifully exquisite meal."
    dined on 14/12/2013
  • "I normally use this small chain of restaurants for business diners, but this time I went there for lunch. While the lunch deal is very good value, it doesn't have that special touch that you get for diner. Never the less an enjoyable experience."
    dined on 19/11/2013
  • "the food was good, the setting was enjoyable the food was reasonably expensive but worth it, i would go back again."

  • "Dinner at Patara was a very pleasant experience, in an ambient environment. Staff are attentive and polite. The food was wonderful and very much enjoyed by one friend who had loved in Thailand. I would certainly go back!"
    dined on 25/11/2013
  • "Went to Patara with a group of friends for the second time and I have to say the thai food is excellent - the one downside being the servize is not amazinga and the food is erring on the expensive side. All in all a good experience but you could eat better for the same money elsewhere."
    dined on 22/11/2013
  • "Very impressive upscale Thai restaurant. The appetizers were to die for. Pad thai was outstanding. The whole fish was the weak link. I think they were going for a British fish-and-chips style when the entire fish should have been deep fried intact. Overall, an excellent restaurant. Great ambience. HOwever, quite pricey."
    dined on 18/11/2013
  • "Very friendly and quick service. Not many vegetarian options unfortunately though! But would definitely go back again to have dinner!"
