Diner Reviews
  • "We chose the toptable offer, which had its own menu. Good food and wine, very pleasant surroudings and friendly efficient service. Would definitely go again for pre-theatre dining. Confit of duck with lentils, risotto with truffle oil and the Valrhona chocolate tart all excellent. Service was excellent too, which makes everything so much better."

  • "Friendly service, definitely a lovely place for a couples get together but equally good for groups, thou a little compact, tight and too warm. Started to sweat a little at the venue. Food was very good thou by the time i ordered the Swordfush at 8pn they had already run out, so that was a downside. But the seabass made up for that. But overall would go again."

  • "This restaurant was absolutely a positive surprise. Located in Covent Garden, offered a wonderful romantic atmosphere, with a very good quality food and more than affordable prices. The service was also excellent. Highly recommended."

  • "Excellent food and service - would definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch!"

  • "Staff made us very welcome, food very tastie and a good selection of food for all, restaurant was very busy, would highly recommend it."

  • "Food was very good and staff were very friendly and attentive. Tables in the area where we were sitting were very close together, which actually didn't matter for us because it wasn't very busy, but if it had been I think it would have been obtrusive."

  • "Very good service, good atmosphere and pre-theatre menu delicious and inexpensive. But we had a few drinks and the bill rocketed to £ 90 for 2!"

  • "Great value and extremely tasty french food. Friendly waiters with sometimes quirky sense of humour. Probably not a great choice for pre-theatre as it's not the quickest of service. Excellent for evening catching up with friends when you're in no hurry."

  • "good value for money and services amazing. I love this place."

  • "All five of us enjoyed our meal as there was a nice choice. Food was good and service very good. Could not find fault which is unusual these days. Would definitely recommend."

  • "A friend and I went for lunch and had a lovely meal. The restaurant was quiet so a good place to sit and chat. I enjoyed the courgette tote with goats cheese main course. The cocktail included in our Toptable deal was delicious."

  • "I've been to Palm Court Brasserie before for a pre-theatre dinner and knew that my new partner would really enjoy the food here. We were not disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, the service is very very good and the food is excellent. My partner loved the muscles and I have to say they were delicious. We'll be going back again!"

  • "Booked pre concert at Drury Lane. Great top table menu with limited choice of well cooked robust plates of French food. Cocktails great too. Not exquisite nor delicate but a solid reliable tasty option at an amazing price"

  • "Friendly and efficient service from the moment you enter, great food and all our needs and expectations were met/exceeded. We wrere a family of 8 and had ordered different meals from different menu sections. All food was very good and service could not be faulted, we will certainly go back."

  • "I have visited Palm Court Brasserie many times and always enjoy the food and service. The food as always was good but this time the light was turned down so low i could not read the menu nor see the food. When i mentioned it to the waiter he said it was typically French but i have never been to a French restaurant with such poor light. I also found our waiter a bit too pushy, which i have not experienced at the Palm Court before."

  • "We had a pre theater dinner here before Mamamia. A loud French bistro style restaurant. Roast chicken with fries was tender, a little on the salty side. Roast salmon was very good with hollandaise sauce. Kids were happy with their selections on the children's menu. 14 pounds for 2 course pre theater (limited choice) menu. Service was good. Can get coupon if you got 2 for 1 offer with 7 day pass at rail station, but cannot use on Friday. Offer is for 1 free entreeA"

  • "First time at Palm Court Brasserie. It's obviously in the same company as the Boulevard Brasserie which we know well. Thought we'd try something different but the menu and wine list were virtually the same. Toptable deal is good value, Service was excellent. Tables too close together, though, so hard to move in and out without having to have tricky negotiations with the nearby diners!"

  • "A friend and I go out from work once a month and this is one of our haunts. We have only had good experiences and with the Taste card offer of 2 courses and a kir it is good value. I was pleased to see Stuffed Courgette as the vegeterian option - a nice change from the never ending pasta and risotto. The staff are friendly and the place is always buzzy. And it is right in the heart of Covent Garden so perfect venue and easy to get home from there. What more do you need?"

  • "A very enjoyable early supper. A warm welcome, great service and some great wholesome food. I had indicated that it was my wife's birthday and at the end of the meal we were serenaded. It was a friendly place and the pre theatre dinner was great value and so much better than the big chain restaurants."

  • "This was a last minute booking for Sunday lunch and I made the mistake of trying to book a restaurant on Mothers Day. We went with low expectations but the reverse was true. The waiters were pleasant and although very busy were efficient and attentive. We were a party of 4 and all had different choices and none of us were disappointed. The portions were generous and the quality was good. The whole experience as enjoyable and we didn't feel rushed even though we were at the table for over two hours. Definitely would go back again."

  • "great place but service wasn't as good this time which was a shame"

  • "Booked a pre theatre dinner offer on recommendation of a friend which consisted two courses and a drink. It was a busy Saturday but we were seated quickly and the service was friendly and efficient. The meal was excellent, well presented and cooked perfectly. The only down side was the tables were a little close together and it felt cramped. We were situated in the narrowest part of the restaurant that connected the front of the restaurant to the back and there was a lot of people coming past the table."

  • "Was recommended to use the Palm Court, especially has a good value, pre theatre meal. The food was fabulous, and the service great. Can't wait to eat there again. My only critisms was that the food came out too quick and the tables are a little too close together."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Took my mom out for lunch. Was told that there was only the set menu available. Part of the group didn't drink alcohol so wanted to change the belini that was included in the set menu - was told that we could only have coke or Sprite. Not a great start. No bread was offered and in two of the dishes, we found cling film within the food. This put us off our food. Although the waiter did remove the DISCRETIONARY service charge as a gesture of goodwill and gave my mom an extra glass of coke, the cling film additions were definitely off putting so will not be going back to this restaurant. So if you go to eat at this restaurant, inspect your food unless you like eating cling film or whatever else the despondent chef may fancy throwing in."

  • "Had a wonderful post theatre meal, great food, atmosphere fabulous and warm and friendly staff."

  • "We had a lovely meal on a Saturday evening recently. I can't fault the quality or value of the food - our steaks were perfectly cooked .... which you can't take for granted in a lot of restaurants. My only complaint would be that the lighting is so dimmed that it is difficult to see. We had to use the torch on our mobile phone to be able to read the menu - seriously! I like the subdued lighting but PLEASE turn it up a notch!"

  • "I've been to Palm Court Brasserie a number of times over the years and have never been disappointed. Great ambience, attentive and friendly service and really good food and wine, which is excellent value - particularly given its location, on the edge of Covent Garden. I'll definitely be back again in the future and would highly recommend to anyone else looking for good, hearty brasserie food in central London without paying an absolute fortune for it."

  • "Was looking for a reasonably priced good food experience before going to theatre and found exactly that. Friendly professional attentive staff, good atmosphere, standard fare for set menu but excellent value"

  • "We needed somewhere near the Apollo Theatre for a post-theatre dinner. Having read the reviews here, we decided to give Palm Court a try. It lived up to all the great reviews. We arrived at 10.20pm on a Thursday night, and the waiter greeted us with a smile and gave us the choice of tables. He made us feel welcome even at that late hour. The post theatre menu is great value at 2 courses for £13.90 but we decided to have steak frites and a glass of red wine each from the a-la-carte. The food arrived in under 10 mins and was very, very good. Our steaks were juicy and tender, mine with garlic butter on the side, and the fries were done perfectly. Glad to have found a place that does great food at reasonable prices in Covent Garden."

  • "My friend was visiting from overseas and I took advantage of the great location of this restaurant (and also the fact that I'd wanted to go here for a while) to finally have dinner here. The welcome you get is super friendly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great. It really feels like a French bistro in Paris! The French onion soup is probably the best I've had in London, but the pork belly was a little dry. In addition to this, the service was slow and it was difficult to get the attention of our waiter, but small things. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant - the price of our 3-course meal was very reasonable and it was a lovely experience."

  • "Two friends and I went to the the Palm Court for lunch. We have been several times. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very courteous, one of the best places to eat. We had the special two course menu which included a Bellini and it was all delicious. We spent a long time chatting and enjoying our meal and drinks and they don't rush you or agitate to get you out. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the staff and food of course."

  • "I had one night in London prior to my departure back to the US, finishing a longer UK trip. I was looking for a place near my Trafalgar Square hotel to grab dinner - and was really looking for some good, flavorful food, good drink and dessert, a sharp contrast to the wanting British fare I had the previous few days. Palm Court Brasserie met and exceeded all of my expectations. The champagne cocktails were great, as was the entree, and I happily went with my waiter's recommendation of the sticky toffee pudding. And speaking of, the service was impeccable. My waiter, George, left me to my own devices, reading my book, but checked in on me in a timely manner. And the whole place just seemed very well run. Highly recommended to all."

  • "But we would have liked to see it... It was too dark at our table"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the lunch time offer of a set menu and glass of Kir Royale before heading off to a matinee. The ambience is very pleasant, the service excellent and the food deliciously French. The only drawback is the service charge of 12.5 percent."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "I booked initially for a pre theatre meal but we're just given an ordinary menu and no mention of the special offer of 2 courses and presecco for 2. However we got carried away with the good atmosphere and service that did not really mind paying extra from the ordinary menu. I would definitely go again!"
