And I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, given we were on a top table deal and therefore had a smaller menu to chose from. The squid and beef bourguignon I had were superb and my daughters pate and chicken were lovely too. There was wine on the menu that was not overpriced, and our meal deal came with a very acceptable kir royale. We where not disappointed, the staff looked after us - especially myself as I was crutches at the time, giving us a table close to the front. Great atmosphere, quick, attentive but not intrusive service, and wonderful food - consistently great quality and flavour. This time we had the half-chicken and the rump of lamb. Palm Court Brasserie is, thankfully, none of these things. The service is welcoming from the start, attentive to needs, courteous throughout; the food options for lunch were good, well-sourced, and attractively priced. A kir royale to start did not harm! The wine list is extensive, and again, great value. Host & waitress were friendly and patient, although latter could have been slightly more observant when we needed something extra to order etc. However, we were not spending mega bucks so not a big issue. The music in the corner (we were sat at the far back end of the restuarant) was rather loud through the corner speaker, but they turned it down as soon as we asked, which we appreciated.
The food was brought swiftly and hot to the table by staff - something that many restaurants get wrong.
