PalioEating out in Tunbridge Wells.Palio's is run by one of the two partners to set up the noted Pizzaria Castello at the Elephant & Castle. (This is now part of the footprint occupied by the Strata tower.
Lorenzo established this restaurant in Tunbridge Wells and brings all of the qualities of the Pizzeria Castello to Kent. It is up-market (a bit) from the Elephant; for example pizzas are only available to takeaway. The food is very good, the wine list is good, the service warm and attentive. I have recommended this to friends in the area and each of them has raved about it. I will certainly continue to use it when I am in the area. But I will book in advance to be certain of a table!29/05/2013 00:00:00Well worth a visitExcellent food, I have visited before and this time took my cousin. A great vairety on the menu suiting everyones taste. I highly recommend the Tornedo Rossini. Excellent wine selection. If you want to impress someone, this is for you.29/03/2013 00:00:00Love this place!I love Palio never disappoints. My husband came here for nice romantic meal on a fri eve, wasn't too busy and had a lovely ambience. I had a delicious prawn & scallop filled pasta with scallop & white wine sauce amazing! It is good value for two and portion sizes are generous. The service is always fab. Would recommend for authentic italian food and great service!29/03/2013 00:00:00birthday mealwe went to palio on Monday 11th Feb for my granddaughters 16th birthday. We had a lovely night everything was lovely the food the staff the service and when they heard it was a birthday they brought desert with candles and sang happy birthday it really was a lovely evening i would recommend palio to anyone11/02/2013 00:00:00Valentine mealWe have been to Palio on a number of occasions and have always found that the evening has been a success. The food is always excellent and the staff are always attentive and efficient. This restaurant has a very good name in Tunbridge Wells as it always has upeople in it even on a cold winter's evening! Highly recommended.11/02/2013 00:00:00My husband and I enjoyed ourMy husband and I enjoyed our recent vist, we can highly recommend the steak.
Only down side the some of tables were very close together.26/01/2013 00:00:00EXCELLENTLovely surroundings, pleasant (but not pushy) service, and superb food. Excellent menu choices, from 3 different menus at lunch time.07/01/2013 00:00:00Great as usualI have never had a bad meal at Palio. One of the best Italian resturaunts in Tunbridge Wells - and this is coming from an Italian.05/01/2013 00:00:00Delicious home cooked Italian food!Cannot fault Palio it has such a lovely ambience and the food is absolutely delicious. I have introduced my husband to this restaurant and it has become one of his firm favourites for the service and food. We had an amazing scallop starter which was cooked perfectly with a delicious creamy sauce before each having one of their huge pasta dishes, you will not go home hungry! It's very good value and the portion sizes are generous so you feel you've had a good hearty Italian meal! Would highly recommend!29/12/2012 00:00:00Really enjoyed the mealA warm atmosphere with good service ,food and great staff.20/12/2012 00:00:00Great Italian hospitalityI love Palio, they always make you feel welcome and the food is delicious. It is not a cheap restaurant but the food is worth the money. The toilets are easily accessible which was great as my father is on sticks. If they have one problem it is noise which means that in a full restaurant it is hard for you to hear each other above the hum of other diners and particularly hard if you are elderly.10/12/2012 00:00:00Great spot for Saturday LunchingI took my parents here on a Saturday for lunch to celebrate their Birthday / Anniversary. The food was, as always, great! The service was a little slow to start but then redeemed itself as the meal went on.24/11/2012 00:00:00A Wet Wednesday Night!I was visiting the area, & meeting local friends. One had a miserable commute back from London, & we all braved a miserable rainy night to meet at Palio's for supper.
The staff were very welcoming & humeruos, which relaxed us all immediatley.
Our main courses were lovely,I had huge prawns & my friends had risotto & pasta. All were good size servings, & were piping hot when served.
Some how we managed to squeeze in deserts, the pana cota was delicious, & my friend reported that the Tiramasu was also lovely. I had a very enjoyable evening & meal in Palio's, & if I am in T Wells again, I would visit again.21/11/2012 00:00:00After taking my fiance toAfter taking my fiance to Paolios I decided to go Palios for my birthday as well. The staff are corteus, attentive but not overbearing. You are felt at ease when enoying your dining experience. Overall I was happy with the service provided. The menu while not extensive had a good selection of options. For my starter, main and dessert I could not fault the food. While the price maybe more than your standard Italian Chain Restaurant you get what you pay for. If you like Italian and wish to go to a non-chain restaurant for a celebration then Palio is the way forward.20/11/2012 00:00:00Palio's Tunbridge WellsThis is a great restaurant with a huge choice of typical Italian specialities cooked and presented how it should be. Excellent quality at a realistic price with excellent service. If you like top quality food in an unpretentious setting try it and I'm sure you will return time after time.24/10/2012 00:00:00Palio is fabulous!Great authentic Italian food, amazing service & lovely ambience- highly recommend Palio for a romantic meal fit for foodies!19/10/2012 00:00:00Very pleasant and friendlyVery pleasant and friendly service - would visit again21/09/2012 00:00:00Always a great place to eat.Always a great place to eat. The waiters and managers add greatly to the enjoyment.21/09/2012 00:00:00Lived up to reputationDon't judge the book by its cover: have passed Palio in Tunbridge Wells many times and been a bit put off by the facia, assuming that inside would be a bit too bright/clinical for any atmosphere, but am pleased to say I was wrong! Service knowledgable and attentive, food was very good (of special note were tuna with caramalised red onions and red wine sauce, and the fresh seafood salad) and the wine list extensive but not expensive (unless you wanted it to be!) and the evening ambience was great. Plan to return to try their new Ligurian tapas menu.12/09/2012 00:00:00Superb authentic ItalianPalio's serves genuine Italian food. Good value for the 2 mains for 1 if drinks ordered.10/09/2012 00:00:00Despite having booked, ourDespite having booked, our booking was not recorded. However, despite being very crowded a table was laid up08/09/2012 00:00:00From Elephant with love.Renzo owned (with Tony) the Pizzaria Castello and Ricardo was with them there. Renzo and Ricardo now operate Palio's in Tunbridge Wells. The old Castello was noted for its quality, value, and ambience. It now lies under the Strata Tower at the Elephant and Castle in London. Palios is distinctly up-market from Castello's. No pizza's other than by special arrangement (takeaway). However the quality of the food, service, ambience, and value is first rate. I wish I lived nearer. For six adults, three courses with drink came to £187.80 and it was worth every penny. I am not related nor do I have any financial interest in the restaurant but if I am ever around Tunbridge Wells I would not think of eating anywhere other than Palio's.23/08/2012 00:00:00Had a lovely meal at PalioHad a lovely meal at Palio with my husband- great service and amazing real Italian food, will definitely be returning!
