Old GranaryDinnerHi we had dinner here and I can't find words to describe the service, food and ambience the setting was perfect. The outside was very picturesque, the only thing we could find as a negative would be the safety aspect regarding the river as it has nothing to stop anyone falling in, but apart from that it's perfect , I would definitely recommend you to anyone a big thank you for a lovely meal the steak was Devine Xx15/06/2013 00:00:00Excellent Birthday MealWe visited the Old Granary to celebrate my Dad's 75th birthday and were extremely pleased with the whole experience. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and the whole place had a quality feel to it. When I placed the initial booking I mentioned it was for a birthday celebration and, totally unprompted on the night, two members of staff came out with a birthday muffin (lit candle and all) on a decorated piece of slate singing Happy Birthday. Although there was a 45 minute wait, our waitress was very aware of our possible discomfort and provided a complimentary bread board whilst we waited for our food. We had eaten there the previous year when on a golfing tour and found it to be very relaxing, a good menu and very good value for money, including drink. This year we rang to say that we were running an hour late and the staff were very accomodating. The staff were very helpful and we had a good mix of meals ranging from excellent beef burgers to seafood fish and chips, falafals, and a mixed platter of Serrano ham, roasted veg, potted pork and olive bread, amongst other things, to start with.- No complaints from anyone, and it is a great place to go for an informal day out as there is lots to look as the river flows past immediately outside the window. Jamie and the team were extremely attentive without being overpowering; the food was excellent (always is there). Somewhere in between.. which makes for a lovely evening and great food that brings a smile to your face and tasted wonderful... and is affordable. The platters are works of art (and taste good) and the steak is better than many a posh London restaurant (and cooked to perfection). The service just right.. friendly and there when you need it, without being overbearing.
