  • "beautiful, elegant and historic place. good (not only Polish origin) and great service. there is also a Polish club there, with many interesting cultural events going on."

  • "I absolutely loved this restaurant! It looks very posh when you come in, very romantic, but the prices are very affordable. Polish food is outstanding, nicely prepared and visualised. It was a pleasure to dine there. "

  • "We went here on a friday night mid-march '14 and loved this place! Especially to reccomend - flavoured vodka; they have some savoury ones like cucumber&dill, really refreshing after a long week! - dumpling; piergogi and pelmeni were wonderful The service is very good; polite but not too formal; at the atmostphere also quite relaxed but still in very chic decor. Really good alternative to the other touristy restaurants around South Ken."

  • "My guest and I took our table at 6.00 pm, requiring a theater meal, to be able to leave at 7.15. The service was excellent and food very good quality. Staff spoke excellent English and made us very welcome. The ambiance is smart but relaxed and beautiful. I especially appreciated a bowl of excellent soup, because it was a large quantity served in a thick, deep bowl, so that it remained hot for a long time - most unusual. I strongly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We have been eating Polish food at this location for about 30 years, but the latest owners of Ognisko have really raised the bar. The place had a makeover and has added a beautiful outdoor terrace. The food was outstanding and the service fast and charming. I am already looking forward to celebrating my birthday there in June, hopefully outdoors. We hope it doesn't get so popular that we have trouble getting a table, but do try it - it is wonderful. The black pudding potato pancake starter is out of this world."

  • "Toptable classifies Ognisko as Eastern European food. The food I had, however, was anything but. Maybe I was wrong to expect a different flavour from French and Italian food I've had in the past My starter of scallops, black pudding on a cauliflower puree was delicious and very well cooked. Didn't have an Eastern European feel to it at all. My main was dumplings with mushrooms and it ended up being gnocchi with mushroom and cream sauce. I may be absolutely wrong. If you're reading this and know that Eastern European food can have these flavours, then please ignore my comments. The food was well cooked and presented."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to Ognisko, I can never fault this restaurant the staff are so friendly and accommodating, the food choice and standard is superb and the vodkas are amazing! I always look forward to going here because it is very reasonably priced if not cheap for the portion size and standard (you won't go hungry!). I look forward to returning soon!"

  • "This restaurant is a fantastic find. Don't let the thought of polish food put you off - it is fantastic! Two of us had the set menu for £16.50 for two courses and started with rhubarb bellini's with smoked haddock and poached egg salad, followed by bream and vegetable ragout. My son and his girlfriend had foie gras followed by steak tartare. We were in food heaven. The favour and taste is sublime, the food is a feast for the eyes before you even start. We regularly eat out and are always on the lookout for a new restaurant that offers a lovely setting, interesting food, value for money and wheee we leave wanting to go back - this is definitely one to revisit."

  • "Situated in the palatial Polish Club building opposite Imperial College, you step through its doors and straight into grand surroundings where imaginative cocktails are expertly served by a friendly barman. The menu offers plenty of choice, and our excellent meal was served by charming and personable staff with impressive attention to minor details such as the choice of bread. A good wine list meant ideal accompaniments to our much-appreciated food. Afterwards, coffee on the terrace overlooking a park area allowed us to relish even further the impression of being spoilt in best embassy surroundings! Ognisko's history is Polish, and its ambiance and staff make perfect ambassadors. Go and enjoy...but above all, be impressed!!"

  • "This was my third time at Ognisko. It has a superb ambience and a very good menu of well prepared dishes. The service is polite and efficient. The restaurant has a good list of beers, infused vodkas and an excellent cocktail. I would strongly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The new owner and his staff were working tirelessly to make sure that his dinner 'guests' were well taken care of. The starter of scallops with Polish black pudding was exquisite and so was the duck and apple mains. The ambience and comfortable feeling created by the authentic feel of the place was added to by the presence of obvious 'regulars' of all ages -all in all, a lovely dining experience."

  • "Perfect place for a top meal in early evening. Great atmosphere and friendly and unobtrusive service. Great selection of wine and different vodkas. Great value for a classy meal in central London."

  • "It was a sunny afternoon so we were offered a table on the terrace overlooking Princes gardens. Lovely spot and hard to believe the hustle and bustle of Exhibition road was at the front of the restaurant. Our waitress was really friendly and explained the menu in detail (sorry didnt catch her name but know she was from Opole & looked like a young Sandra Bullock!). Food was nicely presented a plentiful. Two of us had the special desert of the day , quice with nuts , raisins and caramel which was different and delicious as was the Soplica Quince vodka. Relaxed atmosphere but with attentive service. A real gem in this area and will certainly be back."

  • "Wonderful evening with fabulous food, very friendly device and quick service. No delay on drinks or courses yet we were not rushed at all. Perfect. Cannot recommend the duck course enough- delicious! And the meat starter platter- amazing! Thanks for a top night x"

  • "Love this place - the building is wonderful. It has the combination of the history and the wonderful dining room that takes you back in time. Though the food is modern and classy. The service is excellent. Before or after dinner you can retire to the bar area which on it's own is worth going to. A polish friend introduced me and I will be introducing other friends to this little gem."

  • "First off, the food here is ridiculously delicious. I wanted to order half the menu, and everything each member of our party of eight had was good. It is also very good value for the standard of cooking and the portions are huge. Refined polish food - rich, comforting and bold flavours. The room is stunning and relaxing at the same time. Service was obliging and quietly friendly, if a little slow. They do a great range of Interesting cocktails, and If you like vodka this place is pretty unique (along with its sister restaurant Baltic) in that you can get a massive range or brands and flavours by the carafe (served on a bed of ice)! I've been here 3 times and will be back. I recommend it to all my friends."

  • "We'd never eaten Polish food before and we really enjoyed our visit. The waiting staff we're really helpful, explained the food, steered us to a good wine choice and gave us sample tastes within our price brand to help us decide. The food was delicious with hearty portions in elegant surroundings. What a pleasant surprise, we would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Location was in a beautiful townhouse along Exhibition road. The space is elegant and contempory/traditional.The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The food was superb. The Perogies were the best we have ever eaten!"

  • "A most enjoyable evening, can highly recommend the place, lovely food and great service, great atmosphere, went there with my 93-year old mother and 23 -year old daughter and we all loved it, was full and yet not too loud, great restaurant"

  • "Dined on Valentine's Day. Food and atmosphere excellent. Service a little rushed at first (sweet cocktails at the same time as a large bowl of beetroot soup?) but once in the swing of things very good. Would question serving of whole/half duck on a 'romantic' occasion - not the easiest food to eat elegantly! Minor comments though in an otherwise excellent evening. More than lives up to Baltic and improves on the departed Wodka - a good addition to this reliable group of restaurants."

  • "Was a great evening, service was amazing and so was the food"

  • "I chose Ognisko on the recommendation of a friend. Five of us went for my birthday and had a lovely meal. We warmly welcomed and while some of the party was early and thought to sit in the bar area, they allowed us to go to our table at least 20 minutes early. I had antipasti, Venison which melted in your mouth with a side order of mash and green vegetables, which we shared between two. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse and as the waitresses had realised it was my birthday, I had a candle and was serenaded. The others had flavoured vodka shots of which there was an extremely long list to choose from. Everyone was friendly, and happy to advise and make recommendations. I will be going back."

  • "It was lovely that they fussed over us on our Wedding Anniversary. Rum Baba - rarely seen on menus in London - is a highlight. Very well presented and even the proprietor of the restaurant didn't know the desert was actually descended from a Polish king. I would firmly play up the restaurant's credentials as a Polish venue serving mostly Polish cuisine. Time and again people complain that Polish cooking is hearty but stodgy and unhealthy. Restaurants like Ognisko need to be the standard bearers for the fine dining for which Polska can and should be famous. In the heart of Europe it has many influences. Even if I work in Polish media it's far easier to promote a venue like Ognisko."

  • "I chose this restaurant to get a taste of Poland before spending a week there on holiday. If this is what top end eating in Poland is going to be like, bring it on! Great atmosphere, plenty of space between tables so despite a lively atmosphere you could still here each other speak, friendly and helpful staff, great vodka cocktails and wonderful food, I loved it!"
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "This restaurant has excellent food and a large selection of wines. It has also a good selection of vodkas and the vodka martinis (one of my favourite cocktails) are superb. If you add to this the location and ambience of the building you have a restaurant well visiting. More than once."
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "A really different menu for a special treat.. my starter of scsllops and black pudding was scrumptious. main course of pork was substantisl but done with finesse. Elegant spacious room. charming enthudiastc staff."
    dined on 22/01/2014
  • "than the first time I went just after it opened. They seem to be settling into their stride with the service, food and general ambience becoming really first rate. The bar is a great place to start the evening with fantastic cocktails and delicious bar snacks - the tzraski - very superior pork scratching - especially so. The menu seems to be evolving and the puddings are now superb. i can only say - go there!"
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "Service was, well in a word - clueless. We were left with no one to seat us and then at the end of the night the same thing...we had to go behind the counter to get our checked coats ourselves (let's not discuss the security around this shall we). During the meal the waitress removed my completely full shot of vodka saying"Ah, it's is so clear I didn't know it was full." I ordered the main sized portion of the pierogis and got the starter size. Also, opening the doors wide to let all the cold air in. We (politely) said it was really cold could they shut them? we were told no, they had to air out the "paint smell". We didn't smell paint, only a frozen tundra coming in from the outside. Vodka (once drunk) was good. Food pretty good."

  • "This was a very pleasant restaurant to visit on a wet winter's evening before visiting the Royal Albert Hall."

  • "A showcase for Polish food, drink and hospitality in a historic setting! The dining area has a fabulous ambience to match the great pre-dinner Martinis. The food was outstanding and what you would expect from the Team behind Baltic & the sadly missed Wodka!"

  • "Wonderful, we love the food. The first courses are all really terrific. We intend to become regulars."

  • ""A smart Polish restuarant" - it is definitely a place worth visiting, either on the way to the Royal Albert Hall or making a special trip to spend the evening. Great food, attentive service, very Polish, oozing with autheciticity."
    dined on 27/12/2013
  • "We loved this restaurant! Convenient to the museums, it was the perfect way to end a day at the V&A (and a much better option than the many chains/corporate places in the area). Beautiful dining room and building- and a warm and welcoming staff. The vodkas were wonderful, too. Excellent European menu, well-presented dishes- we will be back."
