This is the fourth time we have eaten at the North Bank and it has been very good each time whether in the evening, during the week at lunchtimes or at the weekend.

Our meal was excellent value ,not too 'foodie' sensible portion sizes with a menu from which I could have chosen eveythng. If I had a criticism,the service was too swift but we overcame this at dessert time by asking them to leave it for 15 minutes or so ,so we could digest! When we arrived we were greeted quickly and offered a drink at the bar where we met the bulldog who was very friendly. We were looked after very well at the table as well. Most importantly the food was excellent. Everyone was happy. I had mackerel as starter which put me in a good frame of mind for what was to follow. For mains, the lamb was beatifully cooked with the full flavour kept in the dish. There was a pleasant buzz arounfd the place, nothing noisy just the murmur of people enjoying a convivial evening. I had been for dinner with a friend here a couple of years ago and after that brilliant experience i was hoping it had maintained its standards and that i wasn't going to be disappointed this time when i went on a date.
I wasn't disappointed! The food is delicious and the menu is exciting making it difficult to choose. I'm not vegetarian but a close friend of mine is. Looking at the menu through her eyes I think she would love it!
The ambiance was just right - not raucous but not a library. Stunning views and immaculate service. Attentive, swift and intelligent but unobtrusive and unpretentious.

We started the dinner with a cocktail outside overlooking the Themes. This place is brilliant for doing just that on a nice day. Reasonably priced cocktails however I think they forgot to put alcohol in mine.
Dinner was served inside and one of us opted for the a la carte instead of the set menu. The food was tasty. The service was very friendly and decor lovely with great ambience. The food as always was good, my haggis scotch egg came with ham and some cornish cheese and a delightful chutney, I normally would not bother. My salmon for main course was first rate, very tender and the lamb was perfectly cooked too. A beautiful bottle of rose added to the joyful mood.27/03/2012 00:00:00
