A word from Nobu - London

The menu at Nobu London, draws heavily on Matsuhisa's classic Japanese training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, as well as on South American influences gained during his extensive travels. This innovative "new style" Japanese cuisine has become both his trademark and the foundation of his success.

With its own street entrance on Old Park Lane, the 150 cover restaurant includes a separate sushi bar and enjoys commanding views across Hyde Park through full-height windows. Designed with simple elegance by United Designers, the interiors make subtle use of light woods and natural stone to reflect the diverse influences of Nobu's cuisine, incorporating the purity and quality materials inherent of traditional Japanese design.

Diner Reviews
  • "Good quality and healthy Japanese food in an European style. Staffs are friendly. Restaurant decoration is simple, not the usual Japanese style. Tenderloin beef in teriyaki sauce is one of the best. "

  • "Went with my husband and two teenage daughters. We all loved the whole experience, from the amazing food to the fantastic service this restaurant has it all! Don't go though if you are on a budget as it's very pricy, but for me it was worth very penny!"
    dined on 13/04/2014
  • "Excelent food obviously, fast service, delicious Apple Martini. Not very romantic, but i don't think they ever intended to be so. Prices are high but so is the quality so it's not a surprise if you have to pay £ 200 for a two dinner. Love the lobster, the scallops and the kobe beef...they are divine."

  • "I have never left a restaurant so disappointed ever before ,i was looking forward to coming to NOBU as i had never been before ( i have been to other "high end" Japanese restaurants ) but for a meal for two that cost over £150 per head the whole experience was dreadful, starting with our waitress that did not have a great command of english and trying to understand her over the noise that can only be compared to when i go to watch Football on the terraces it became near impossible, and there lies one of the major problems with NOBU. they have tried to cram in as many tables as humanly possible that it feels like your in some kind of Canteen and not a michelin starred restaurant.Having a conversation was impossible , overall never again..."

  • "too salty lower food quality standard than few years ago and also compared to nobu New York. hot oil on sliced fish is already cold by the time it arrives to our table charge too much on bottled water."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "When we booked Nobu we were expecting something a bit special sadly whilst we did eat some good food we didn't get the wow factor that we had hoped for. Our waitress was verging on rude when having ordered a bottle of champagne, some sharing starters and a couple of mains told us we needed to order more"
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "meal was very nice, attentive service very nice location and view"
    dined on 08/04/2014
  • "Excellent food, and the tasting menu was actually pretty good value."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "Yet again an outstanding meal at Nobu. Will continue to be the place to visit for a special meal for me. Thanks again Nobu."
    dined on 07/04/2014
  • "Food quality was good however the service left something to be desired"
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Having had the pleasure of eating at Nobu's all over the world over the last 12 years, I honestly believed the format was tired and the brand complacent. Our excellent mystery menu went some way to showing me that the franchise still has something to offer at the top end. New dishes and some inventive combinations were welcome and the overall quality was very good."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "No, unfortunately not. After hearing so much about this place from work colleagues, friends and family, it was not surprising I have sky high expectations in dining hear for the first time with my friends. We were a party of 8 and ordered individual meals, the food was good but not to the level of of a world renowned dining institution in London. I must say the restaurant was busy and understandably loud and it wasn't the best dining atmosphere I have been to. Overall the service was fairly average, much comparable to a pizza express of Zizzis as opposed to a supposedly world-class restaurant."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "A hip place at Hyde Park Corner, nice decor and "trendy service", no problem with those things, but the food?!! It is not THAT bad at all if you were in a cheap sushi joint anywhere on earth, but not for a supposedly well-respected restaurant... absolutely no finesse whatsoever and I guess this could be the result of global expansion of this restaurant chain. If you are looking for mediocre Japanese food and not minding the price, then do go ahead. For myself, I would prefer to pay more to go for "real" Japanese food... but I know, in London, such top-notched authentic Japanese restaurant is tough to find."
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "Loved every minute of it. Most impressive part was the service. Out waiter jason was so attentive, helped us with the menu and even knew which wine we ordered at the bar earlier and brought over a bottle. The training chopsticks were also a nice touch."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "I was apprehensive prior to dinner as I was really worried the food and experience wouldn't live up to the hype. Turns out I has nothing to worry about. The staff were very professional and friendly. They had genuine smiles on and their attitude contributed to the fantastic ambience and whole experience. Excellent dining atmosphere, wonderful food with great presentation. Tasted great. Quite an enjoyable dining experience."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "overall wonderful food and warm service. Hate how noisy the restaurant got when it filled up the night we went, which was not how I pictured an upscale Japanese restaurant to be."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "The restaurant was too noisy and the tempura (we ordered a tempura dinner among many other things) was cold and not tasty."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "The menu is daunting for Japanese restaurant novices but the very helpful server patiently discussed options and made excellent recommendations. Nobu's reputation isn't for nothing. The food was eclectic, high quality and above all delicious! The wine list ranges from the reasonable to the sublime and the £39 sauvignon blanc which came recommended complimented our entire food selection well. The restaurant is very busy, very noisy with tables pretty close together. Conversations are difficult, romance not even optional. A good meal for sure, but a great all round dining experience? Sadly not."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "Excellent service, drinks and food. Recommend sashimi, soft shell crab ponzu, black cod. Alternatively go for the omakase which is a set menuoffering you a great selection over 8 courses."
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "The food and service was incredible. would highly recommend and will definitely return"
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "Very noisy ambiance hard to talk and understand people ard our table. Waiter forgot to order one of our main course, brought another one to replace it as the one ordered was too long to prepare. Food was great but for such price service has to be perfect and ambiance more cosy."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Salad in the In and Out Bento Box is too salty. The prawns, lots of them, does not arrive at the table with their crispy coating. Nobu use to be known for that extra/surprise. Then every other restaurant caught up with Nobu. So now, it is only average. It has lost it's edge. Too bad. Also too bad it is so expensive."
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "The tables were so close together we were almost sitting on the knee of the couple at the next table. The food was good but at £250 for 2 without wine (1 pre dinner drink each, 1 glass of wine and 3 bottles of beer) it was far too expensive for what we had. Don't mind paying for a great meal with great atmosphere but I won't be going back to Nobu in a hurry."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "The food was delicious, couldn't fault it - great cocktails and attentive staff."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "We were 4 people that shared a number of starters and main courses, thus you get to taste much more from their excellent kitchen. Incl 2 bottles of wine, to glasses of prosecco, some Sake and two bears we paid approx GBP 100 each, actually not as expensive as I had expected. Having said that, we are Norwegians and consequently used to horrible prices. The restaurant is however relatively noisy, but I guess that's what you get when all the tables are full. The "beef something" was amazing, the black cod I have tasted better, but still ok. All in all a well deserved five-star."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "We had a lovely dinner, the food was amazing. We weren't quite sure what else to order, the waitstaffs recommendation was superb! A great night out for a pair of foodies!! A wonderful dining experience!"
    dined on 16/03/2014
  • "Every item was perfectly prepared, fresh and delicious. The staff was highly knowledgeable. Expensive but everyone should eat here at least once."
    dined on 16/03/2014
  • "The restaurant was very sleek, the staff were attentive and the food was downright amazing but the ambience made it very hard to enjoy any of it. The noise levels in the restaurant were above that of a crowded pub, I was celebrating my birthday with my dad but we couldn't hear each other without shouting even though we were sitting across each other at a small table. The 8 course tasting menu was fantastic but by the fifth course, we had given up on having a conversation."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "The best Asian restaurant in London. A little pricy, but definitely worth it!"
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Outstanding black cod! Do not miss it! Perfect atmosphere!"
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Nobu has been around for a long time but has not lost its food flair and service focus. I have been going to Nobu since it opened in New York and when I loved to London found everything was consistently executed. I enjoyed all of the signature dishes as well as tried a few favourites. The spicy creamy crab was excellent, rich and creamy and perfectly composed. I also enjoyed the tartars and new style sashimi as these are standing favourites. The service was also excellent and unobtrusive, yet friendly and engaging."
    dined on 11/03/2014
  • "15% service is a bit steep!! the food was excellent, the wine superb and the service brisk but friendly"
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "Never again will I waste my time and money. Overhyped and over priced"
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "It's probably 8 years since I last came here and it's just not that great. Everything tastes of the cooking and not of the food. Popcorn shrimp tastes of fried batter and the black cod was overwhelmed by black pepper and had no cod taste. The traditional dishes are still better than others but overall very average. Service was good."
    dined on 05/03/2014
  • "J'ai adoré l'ambiance, les gens sont jeunes et trendy. Les plats étaient délicieux. Le service attentionné. Pour avoir déjà essayé le Nobu de Miami, le style et la marque restent impecables."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Well Nobu has been on the 'to do list' for some time. You cannot knock the quality or the presentation of the food. The dishes are delicious, but small in portion sizes. Do not expect to be able to order just the main course and leave, you will need to eat all three courses to be sated. The wine list was reasonably priced with plenty to choose from in the £40-£60 price range. Summary. You can eat 'almost' as well in a number of venues around London for half the price. I felt the restaurant was missing the glamour and style that would justify the extra cash. However if you are a true foodie with no budget, you will not be disappointed."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "If you are thinking of dinning here I highly recommend it I took my partner there for her birthday and it didn't disappoint the food was out of this world , the service was of the highest order very polite very helpful with explaining the menu etc.... They delivered the birthday desert with candles as they said they would. I really can't fault this place. The price overall is what you would expect dinning in Mayfair !! If you want a cheap meal this place is not for you. Average £100 per person but well worth it and we will be going back very soon, Enjoy!!,!!"
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Tables are jammed so close you may as well dine with the next table. Acoustics were horrible too. Was not overly busy but could hardly hear each other. Service was poor which is a shame but the food was stunning."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "While the food and service could not be falted the price, in comparison with other London top restaurants, was too high. We appreciate that overall costs in that part of London are high but so are they for others eg Galvins at Windows and Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "been on many occasions Tuesday was solid without being spectacular. its a classic destination and never lets you down thoroughly professional operation."
