My husband booked a table for
lunch to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing, just right amount for lunchtime and not overpriced. Service was good, would definitely recommend it."
dined on 04/03/2014
3 chewy sirloin steaks. Water
marks on the steak knives. Had to ask for the table to be wiped clean two times. Bread crumbs in the bottom of the not too cold jug full of tap water. They thought they were doing us a favour by not charging us for the 3 chewy steaks. We was told chef agreed & they were extremely chewy. I then ordered a fillet steak & my dining companions had to wait for me. The fillet steak was how ever divine. My point is bad customer relations, we didn't order desserts......that should of been your cue to come over & offer desserts on the house. We'll stick to our usual haunt....the wild mushroom"

I shall definitely return to this
pleasant local restaurant. The food was delicious, with interesting menu choices and all round good service."
dined on 01/03/2014
A restaurant where we were very
well looked after. Food was spot on. The only gripe i had was that there werent quite enough vegetables compared to the amount of meat i got. I was left with quite a bit of meat at the end and would of liked a bit more veg but apart from that everything was superb. Would dine here again"
dined on 15/02/2014
we enjoy our evening very relaxed,
lovely staff, and good food."
dined on 15/02/2014
The starters were excellent, two
of the party had the parfait and I had a warm salad of black pudding & chorizo. My wife chose the vegetarian ash coated cheese for her main which was well presented and tasty; our friend had the fillet steak (£6.50 supp) which was cooked as ordered and I chose the sirloin steak from the fixed price menu, a poor choice as it was a minute steak about 80-90 grams only served with 1/2 dozen home made chips and a pepper sauce no other garnish. Overall a tasty meal but my main was pointless and should be removed from the menu or be correctly described. I would visit again but will be wary of my choice. Oh excellent value wines as well!"

We come to eat at Nobles every
couple months, as a treat, and because we know we are guaranteed a perfect evening, with no surprises. As ever we had a fantastic meal, with excellent, friendly service, great wine and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you Nobles! :)"

All I can say is what an amazing
experience. Plenty of choice, fresh and well presented without the overpricing. We dined with our friends and were all very satisfied with the quality of service, not only were the hosts very kind and accommodating but the whole atmosphere when you entered were warm and relaxed but with an element of home comfort. We loved it so much we can't wait to return."
dined on 18/01/2014
I don't like to be critical, but
if I'm honest, the food was good but not outstanding, and I thought it was expensive for what was served, don't get me wrong, it was ok, and the service was great, its a nice place, but I booked it as there was a 'big sell' on the food / chef etc on the website, and it fell a bit short of my expectations, sorry to say this, I don't like being negative, but the website emailed me asking for a review, and so here it is!"

Went for Sat. night dinner.
Restaurant attractively decorated with well-spaced, good-size tables .We had a warm welcome from staff. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Very varied menu with food attractively presented and full of flavour. The only negative was the level of sound. A group was present who were very loud and made conversation difficult at times. The hard-wood floor amplified this. Would definitely eat there again but at a less busy time/date. Not sure how wheel-chair users would fare - there are steps up to the entrance. Overall, all four of us had an enjoyable evening."
dined on 21/12/2013
This was our fifth visit to Nobles
and we have never been disappointed. Beautifully cooked and presented food, with efficient and friendly service."
dined on 20/12/2013
Proved the perfect place for a
special family birthday celebration"
dined on 12/12/2013
Quality in terms of food and
service is the key word here. Dining out a lot in the South East and London I am easy to please- as Noel Coward said I am always happy with the best! What I like is the firm impression that your meal has been cooked for YOU. The menu never disappoints. Service is always very good and I really hope Nobles can maintain the high standard."
dined on 07/12/2013
Our 3 course meal was very good.
Smoked mackerel + chicken curry + sticky toffee / syllabub. Perhaps the curry was the most impressive element - not at all your typical curry. Bread and butter provided first of all - à la française."
dined on 03/12/2013
Lovely bright interior and wife
sat next to radiator on a cold November Saturday. Food was good, service very good and reasonable value. If you want a good meal in Battle you will do an awful lot worse"
dined on 23/11/2013
Good food and wonderful, friendly
and warm service. Had a feeling that nothing was too much trouble and we could just take our time."
dined on 09/11/2013
We ate at 7.30 but there were only
two other people in the restaurant which made it lacking in atmosphere a little. The service was really good, friendly and helpful. Meal overall was expensive for what it was which was good but not outstanding. Would still try it again if in the area though."
dined on 31/10/2013
The menu was varied and
interesting, particularly for fish lovers. Each course was beautifully presented with good attention to colour, texture and flavour. The only downside to me was the length of time it takes to be served each course. While I appreciate that the food is freshly prepared for each diner, I do think that 1hr 45 mins for two courses is excessive. My daughter and husband would agree with me here, we were all so hungry by the time our starter appeared that unfortunately we could not appreciate the dishes served and then there was the long wait for main courses which, again, rather spoiled our appreciation. The dining room had four tables in use, I hate to think what the waiting time is when they are busy! Great food, but.."
dined on 25/10/2013
Excellent restaurant - great
surprise as the only person who actually lives in Battle had only heard bad reports about it. She will now certainly recommend it to other local people"
dined on 16/10/2013
Great evening, the best steak I've
had in a long time and the vegetarian choice for my other half was spot on. Will be back."
dined on 02/10/2013
excellent food. catered very well
for dietary requirements. everyone in our party said it was the best meal they had eaten in ages. we loved it. friendly helpful staff and beautiful food"
dined on 21/09/2013
We came to Nobles Restaurant for
our wedding anniversary. The food was like nothing we had ever tasted before, it was so exquisite we never wanted the meal to end. The staff were extremly friendly and the ambience of the place was wonderful. Cannot rate this high enough and look forward to going back again!"
dined on 03/08/2013
Pure food with a twist. A place
where we felt very welcome. It's great to be able to book via internet from abroad."
dined on 02/08/2013
We took friends for Friday Dinner
and it was a very enjoyable meal with excellent service. They had never been to Nobles and found it very much to their taste."
dined on 05/07/2013
The meal was okay. I ordered the
steak but it wasn't very good. The desserts were very nice, especially the cheesecake. I would go back purely for the desserts."
dined on 21/06/2013
We'd not been to Nobles for a
while and if this had been our first experience it would have been our last! Whilst the food was nice it took 2 hours for our mains to arrive, and it was not a busy Saturday evening with only a few tables in - all of which experienced the same timings. An hour in our starters arrived along with the comment that they were a chef down, on a Saturday night. So, not the usual Nobles experience but we'll wait a while before going back."
dined on 15/06/2013
Had a very good meal at Nobles on
Friday night with some friends. Food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Wine list good as well."
dined on 07/06/2013
We had a lovely meal well balanced
, beautiful Lamb. We received very attentive service. If I have one slight criticism the decor was minimalist and lacked personality somewhat , but we would return."
dined on 31/05/2013
Relaxed atmosphere and good food
made fun evening with our friends"
dined on 25/05/2013
The food was very good but at some
£55 per couple for a light lunch, it was simply too expensive, which perhaps explains the lack of diners. We only saw 2 other people while we were eating, on a busy Saturday in Battle. I commented to the waitress that to serve a small risotto starter without even a bread roll was strange - 2 slices of bread + butter was charged at a further £2. Just back from France, where to serve a meal without bread would be tantamount to sacrilege. Finally, 10% was added automatically to the bill."
dined on 18/05/2013
I booked a table through the
website, easy to navigate and a reply within an hour with confirmation. Table booked for lunch, menu is fantastic, wine selection very good, and the presentation excellent. We were made to feel very welcome no hint of a rush, yet were attentive when needed, the food was lovely. We have been before, and will certainly be returning."
dined on 30/04/2013
A good addition to battle I think
where there are limited choices to eat ! It's a shame its so empty ! The restaurant deserves to be supported by the locals !"
dined on 19/04/2013
We were a group of 4 including 1
veggie. The starters were all delicious - souffle, duck salad (a bit small) and chicken liver parfait. The steaks were excellent and the veggie tart was too. It's great to have more than one vegetarian option to choose from. Deserts -OK. I would definitely go again, probably not on a Saturday as there is a fixed price menu other days which would keep the cost down. We spent around £40 per person but only 2 out of 4 were drinking so would have been more if we'd had wine. Menu seems to change regularly to make use of local/seasonal produce - another plus in my opinion."
dined on 06/04/2013
Nobles is always excellent with
great fresh food and lovely service....the catering service is also excellent....I can highly recommend their canapes in particular!"
dined on 31/03/2013
Did not disappoint. Yes it is not
cheap, but where else in the area is there to get something a little special? Staff attentive, food excellent."
dined on 16/03/2013
This is a small restaurant, which
due to the location obviously can't be helped. But it lacks any atmosphere or charm, there is no privacy, it felt like eating in someone's living room surrounded by strangers. The serving staff were stretched so the waiting felt a little too long. The food was quite average, the potatoes were under done and portion sizes not great. I wanted to love it as there is so little choice of nice places to go, but I would not go back. It would be nice to find somewhere that went the extra mile, its all down to the fine detail and a memorable eating, that has been sadly missed here."
dined on 10/03/2013
Great Food, Expensive. So the
restaurant itself needs to be better fitted. ie Main door opens straight to outside therefore when dorr opens restaurant becomes cold, customers are constantly asking people to close the door."
dined on 23/02/2013
Always a high standard of food and
friendly attentive staff"
dined on 19/02/2013
We were in the region because of a
European project between Rother District and Ostende city (BE). It was our second time in Nobles, and again we had a very nice dinner. Very kind, neat and pleasant! This is a Dutch review we wrote last time: http://www.vautlevoyage.be/search/label/nobles. If we ever go to Battle again, we'd love to stop at Nobles once more!"
dined on 31/01/2013
There's not much I can add to the
previous reviews. I can see why Nobles is a firm favourite with the locals. Highly recommended."
