Mint Leaf - Haymarket Ratings and Reviews
Like Eating Dinner in a Club
I had booked this restaurant for my husband's 35th birthday and our 18th anniversary. It was a recommendation from a good friend. Advantages Easily booked via open table Restaurant accommodated my dietary requests Restaurant called and confirmed these on the morning of our visit. Service from the waitor was pleasant and he did offer to do something for my husbands dessert albeit it was at the end of our meal and a bit late by then. Food was good. Right balance of spice (I like my food spicy) Free wifi Disadvantages I am comparing this restaurant to the likes of Benares who even with its Michelin star worked out cheaper. Saturday night the restaurant has a club vibe, with loud music bassing through it. This is fine in the bar area but during dinner, it is difficult to have a conversation Food was very pricey and the quality was good but did not warrant the price The menu had stains The dishes had been through the dishwasher so many times that there were scratches over the plates. I know this may sound picky - however when you pay that much you expect a better service. For these reasons alone I will not be going back. It's probably perfect for a works do or a group of friends.
The atmosphere felt a little bit impersonal and would have been nice if there was gentle 'Indian' music playing rather than dance/clubby music.... the waiters were also clearly very busy and stressed (it was a Saturday evening) and forgot smile most of the evening. However, the food more than made up for it, it is absolutely delicious!

Service slow, not offered the a la carte menu until requested . Friendly enough , nice atmosphere, but expensive for an Indian- 8 pounds for 2 coffees ...
We enjoyed a pre-theatre meal from the set menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed the venue, service and an excellent meal from the pre-theatre menu and would highly recommend.
Poor Service and food not upto par
This was our 3rd visit to Mint leaf. On arriving at the table we ordered a cocktail each. What disappointed us was that the food came before the drinks which we ordered in advance of our food order. I am not food expert but I would hope making a fresh curry takes longer than a cocktail. The food is usually great but on this visit it was not up to par. The food was not hot and in particular the nan breads were cold.
This was my first time to this restaurant and would happily return. The food was really tasty, the ambiance was fitting and the actual venue felt like a hidden gem as it was not what I expected but was so much more. Overall I rate this restaurant highly, however I felt it was a little on the pricey side for what you got.

Nice basement setting, with a nice bar area and good space between tables. Every course was delicious and the set menu is great value served with tasty Bellini cocktails. Service was unobtrusive and overall we had a lovely evening
Good, but not as good as before
Service was not attentive, food was good but not as innovative as I remember from previous visits.
Poor Service Mediocre Food
Came to Mint Leaf with high expectations based on strong reviews only to feel disappointed and dissatisfied at the end. We started off well at the bar with some drinks and bar food. Once we were seated at our table (which we were seated next to a VERY loud group) noise from the rest of the restaurant carried through and I had to yell to converse with the rest of my table. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get any kind of service including ordering drinks. We all had the vegetarian set menu which only had one vegetarian option fr each course, which was assumed, but none of them were spectacular. It would have been nice to have another option or swap a dish from the main a la carte menu. We also ordered a dal makhni on the side which never came with the meal until we reminded them. Additionally, when we asked for accompanying sauces, we got two bowls of different dips with no spoons. Ten minutes later after asking twice we got spoons to take the sauce by which time I had almost finished my appetiser. When the bill came, they had double charged us for the drinks which were supposed to be included with the price of the set menu. When we told our waiter he became very rash and was unapologetic for a £40 mistake in our bill. Overall not a good experience with food, ambience, and especially service. Would not go back and would not recommend.
Second time around
This was my second time going to mint leaf for a pre theatre meal. The value is definitely good. The first time I went I was absolutely amazed. This time the set menu was so limited. I felt like the potions were quite boring. We didn't even get desert because Theresa's nothing interesting at all. The atmosphere is lovely; dim lighting, great decor, very trendy and personal. Cocktails are wonderful as well. This time the service was incredibly poor. It was like the staff forgot we existed and we had to walk up to them and ask for the bill! But if you are in good company and enjoying the night, it's not a total turn off.
Superb pre theatre meal
The food was utterly delicious and there was plenty of it PLUS it was very reasonably priced! Outstanding experience.
Great food-good portions. They weren't very accommodating to my vegetarian friend. Good service at the door but our waiter was slow.
Great food, attentive and efficient service
I booked the Mint Leaf for my wife's birthday meal, but we had to fit it in before a West End musical. I cannot commend the food & speed of service highly enough. We look forward to coming back when we have the luxury of lingering over over the food.
Swanky restaurant that lives up to the price
Been three times and the service has always been impeccable. Cocktails are great as is the wine list and actually quite reasonable prices. First and second time I went the food was superb. Lovely modern twists on simple classics. However the third time didn't quite live up. The new menu was limited and underwhelming. The food we ordered was still great but I would have preferred something else given the choice. I'll go back in a few months though, when a new menu arrives :)
Thanks for the vodka taster!
Having visited Mint Leaf on a number of occasions I wanted to visit here as a birthday gift for my brother and took all his family. The cocktail lounge is wonderful with friendly and skilled bartenders who can adapt their menu to match your needs. With one member of my party going for the whiskey taster I joked that there really should be a vodka tasting option too ... 5 minutes later one arrived in front of me and was spot on. The meal was amazing with great flavours, presentation and choice at this contemporary indian restaurant. A very relaxing place to be but where it felt good to be able to relax with family without feeling we should be too 'english and quiet' !!! The only down side was the bill at the end but had such an amazing evening that as a treat it was worth it! Professional service, friendly and above all great food and drink. Thank you and looking forward to a return visit either on my own or with friends.
I have visited the Mint Leaf several occasions and have always enjoyed the experience. A little on the dear side, but the meal was well worth the visits. I have recommended it to friends and families to celebrate their special occasions and will most definitely be visiting again soon.
Food was okay -- but poor for London standards
The restaurant was nice ambience wise for an Indian restaurant. They seemed to be trying a bit too hard to be cool. My old fashioned came with a smoke effect but it left a bad aftertaste in an otherwise excellent drink. Food was very average considering the price. Service was very spotty -- eastern european waitresses seemed to be more for color than service.
Fantastic food and wonderful service.
Great food and fantastic service. The waiter was extremely helpful in helping my husband, who is lactose intolerant, choose the right meal. Food arrived on time and was presented beautifully. I would happily eat there again. However, because of the prices charged, it would most likely be for special occasions onlyl
MAJOR ERROR AND NO MAKE UP!
Me and my mrs don't drink alcohol and asked for a virgin pina colado, to be honest we were surprised with the amount of none alcoholic drinks on the menu. First we were told they cant do pina colada virgin as they said they had no coconut juice, then she returned to say they can. After a while it arrived and the drink had alcohol in it which we both took a sip off. Now as I dont like making a fuss although we were very offended we decided to stay and the meal was, so so but at the end the bill arrived. First there was the oddesity to bring a bill with the drinks in it, then the manager after my protests said he would take the drinks off. What is the price now days for going against your beliefs? I was once again offended but as my partner had returned from the toilet decided to pay the bill an get out of that really bad food serving basement of a place called a restaurant...
Long wait and average food for a very high price
We were annoyed as we had made a reservation - got there to be told that we would have to wait and then shown to the bar area where we were asked to order our drinks. The cocktails were London prices at £10 each but tasted nice. We checked with the persons twice before getting a table. What annoyed us was that there was a mass spare seating area where we were so it was NOT correct that you had no tables - just shoddy practices to get us to buy drinks at the bar! Food was ok but nothing spectacular- you can get the same quality food probably at your local indian restaurant and the real annoyance was the slap on the 12.5% service charge - nice especially when they made us wait at least 30 minutes before we got a table and we had to ask twice before they did something. The atmosphere is like a club - it is modern and a bit dark so intimate but spoiled by loud music. Overall i would not recommend this restaurant. It is pretentious and tries to be more than it is.
Perfect for special occasions
The Mint Leaf certainly had an amazing ambiance, great food and drinks as well. I would highly recommend the Murgh Chicken starter as it was one of the most tender chicken dishes I've had. Just be aware that there is a minimum order of one main and another second dish required per person (for dinner at least). So dining here when you're not very hungry or with the intention to share probably isn't the best idea.
Amazing food and amazing atmosphere
After trying the Mint Leaf of London in Dubai, I just had to come back home to see if this was the same. Surprisingly the food was exactly as Dubai, and the taste was outstanding. The salmon starter and chicken curry was by far the best I have tasted and I shall most definitely be coming back here.

Nice pleasant place, good value for money and the food was good.
Lovely food and bar staff
Lovely food and bar staff. Five of us had a great time. The bar staff serving us beforehand really helped make a great evening. The food was exceptional and the waiter was friendly. One of the waitresses was moody, as if she just received some bad news, but still very professional and attentive. We will come again.
You would not go here if you didn't know about it. Not somewhere you would stumble upon or chance from the entrance. Once you go downstairs you are met with a nice welcome Nd beautiful smell though We are regulars, the food is always good and so is the service. Pre theatre deals are great value. Love the decor and mood. It reminds me of a trendy restaurants in Dubai Great for groups too lots of cosy booths. Love it here
Very efficient and quick service! I would recommend the lamb kebab starters, the chicken and fish curries for mains were also very tasty and full of spice. If you want to make use of the pre-theatre menu this is only available until 6:30pm. Ideal for us as we went to the Haymarket Theatre next door!
Indian With A Difference
Mint leaf is not your traditional Indian restaurant, but just as good as a local favourite. The food and service were excellent. The set menu, although limited, had enough choice for everyone. Really great value. My friends and I couldn't believe how little it cost. Very outstanding value!
Great food and Cocktails
The service was great, menu is somewhat limited but delicious nonetheless. Really nice cocktails. Good for after work dinner. 2-4-1 all day Monday on selected drinks
As a returning customer, the food never disappoints. We actually only go for cocktails ! Just kidding ! Great for special occasions.
Outstanding service and delicious food
My friend and I enjoyed our time at Mint Leaf restaurant. We went for the set menus which was more than enough. Our food was very tasty and had the right levels of spice and texture. My chocolate dessert will be remembered for a while! The service we received was attentive and helpful. Great atmosphere and ambience too, even with a birthday party behind us.
Although the mixed grill starter that we ordered was very good and well worth the £28 when you consider the salmon, duck, lamb, chicken and paneer all nicely flavoured, the main course was not satisfactory in comparison. The portion was small for what you pay for it and nothing spectacular. Unfortunately the nice bar and intimate decor do not make up for the over valuing of the dish
Very impressed overall
Great food and service, but the drinks were ridiculously priced with a simple lassi priced as a mocktail for more than 8 pounds.
Delicious Indian food with a modern twist
The food is of a high standard and the menu contains so many delicious dishes that it's hard to choose. The main course prawn dish is delicious. Service is attentive.
My wife's birthday meal
They were really nice. We met the manager who even came out to say happy birthday. I love this place. Been there a few times now. If you like your food a bit spicy you have to request it otherwise it's not too spicy for a typical Bengali family. Very good quality Ingredients used and in return all flavours are mouth watering! We all loved it! Booking our next visit soon!
Mint Leaf - Haymarket
Service was very good indeed. Glasses, plates and cutlery were not just clean they were sparkling. The food was fantastic, wine list / drinks list was very good, wine was a little expensive so might put some off buying a bottle. Will be returning. p.s. Genuinely surprised at how non-smelly the toilets were; spotlessly clean, well maintained - we both remarked on it when we'd left the restaurant!!!
Looking a bit tired
I like the food but the decor is beginning to look rather sad and in need of a revamp
Mixed grill starter for two THE best!
Very attentive and polite waiter; the Tandoori Mixed Grill starter for two was stupendous and the highlight of our dinner; perfectly grilled and moist selection of five seasoned items with DELICIOUS sauce accompaniments--an absolute must; remainder of menu was quite good but did pale compared to our starter; reasonable wine list for London; will definitely return.
