Mele E PereOutstanding VermouthsEvening meal on a Saturday following a Vermouth Masterclass the previous Wednesday. Our guests were very impressed with the wine list, the vermouths, and the ice cream; the whole meal was excellent, well seasoned and tasty, but we enjoyed the vermouths and cocktails beforehand, and the ice cream afterwards. I personally recommend the lemon ice and the pistachio, having tried the chocolate, vanilla and green tea, which were nice but not as outstanding. highly recommend the Vermouth masterclass and dining and drinking there at Mele e Pere anytime. Ambiance slightly louder on a Saturday night, but otherwise good for great dining. Downstairs is more atmospheric.11/05/2013 00:00:00Amazing but slow food. The food was lovely and the staff great - we had a lovely time.
All I would say is don't use Mele e Pere if you're in a hurry, I know we were a big party, but our lunch took over two hours to happen!10/05/2013 00:00:00I enjoy the food here, itI enjoy the food here, it is better than many other Italian restaurants and fairly good value. Also, the staff and helpful and approachable.09/05/2013 00:00:00Natalie's 40thWe opted for the x3 courses for £18, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the main courses.
Both the beef and the salmon were extremely tasty.
Cocktails at the bar before we ate gave us a chance to unwind and look forward to our meal.
Great Atmosphere. Lovely staff.04/05/2013 00:00:00Excellent food and staff madeExcellent food and staff made us feel very welcome.03/05/2013 00:00:00I love this restaurant!Amazing value top table/pure theatre meal deal, and all the food was lovely particularly the gnocchi and the peanut butter ice cream.would rather have sat downstairs where there is a better atmosphere, it that's a small complaint. Would definitely return.30/04/2013 00:00:00Great food and great service!Friendly service, tasty food and great cocktails - I don't have a bad word to say about it!30/04/2013 00:00:00Good Value Italian MorselsMele e Pere in Soho hasn't just got a clever name (Apples & Pears - Stairs, as Cockney rhyming slang has it - the dining room is in a large basement). It has a clever kitchen which turns out tasty sharing plates, perfectly cooked pasta and hearty main courses. It also has an extensive and very reasonably priced wine list, with many coming by the glass or carafe.
It was an instant hit with our group of four. The sharing plates are small enough that you will need at least two each to constitute a starter, but they are worth indulging in. I particularly recommend the arancini and the plentiful San Daniele ham. My pasta dish of macaroni, rabbit, fennel and tomatoes was well balanced and light.
And you must - *must* - try the sorbets.29/04/2013 00:00:00Excellent quality of food,Excellent quality of food, the staff are great, very attentive but not overbearing. The starters are out of this world and the home made pasta is just divine. really fab coffee too. i would highly reccomend this restaurant. It has become my favourite regular in the West End26/04/2013 00:00:00Nice food. Fantastic serviceNice food. Fantastic service and good value for money.26/04/2013 00:00:00constantly goodMele E Pere is a wonderful haven from the hustle ad bustle of soho....the great service, delicious food and refreshing wines make this the perfect place to meet with friends for a relaxing lunch or dinner. The lasagne is tasty and fresh and the ravioli is simply mouthwateringly good and washed down with a light rose is a perfect combination.24/04/2013 00:00:00Great Authentic Italian FoodBooked the 3 courses and glass of prosecco for £18 at mele e pere for a catch up with friends.
We all loved the food. Very good authentic taste and reminded me of the great food i had in italy.
The veggie option was great (soup then gnocchi). We were seate up stairs which suited us fine, but downstairs seemed to be v buzzy. I will definetly be returning24/04/2013 00:00:00A Great DealThe £18 for three courses plus prosecco is a fantastic deal. The Tuna and fennel starter was light and flavoursome, while the roast porchetta was deep and satisfying. A place I will definitely go back to time and time again. Brilliant.24/04/2013 00:00:00We've been for dinner at MeleWe've been for dinner at Mele e Pere using top table offer (£18 3 courses + 1 glass of Prosecco) and the value of that dinner was outstanding. Food is from high quality and very well prepared. Service was really nice and attentive. We'll probably come back to enjoy the nice bar downstairs (good sharing platers as well).23/04/2013 00:00:00Great Pre Theatre DiningMy partner and I dined herelast tuesday, we both opted for the 3 course pre theatre menu which is great value at £18 pp, the staff and food were fantastic, I will return!23/04/2013 00:00:00Northern2This meal was very good value my only reservation would be that portions are small but do reflect the price of the bill. Food was excellent the menu options were good for such a value based meal. A central London location with such good service and value for money are rare indeed!16/04/2013 00:00:00Good choice x a 3 course setGood choice x a 3 course set menu for £18.00. My friend and I specially liked the starter of raw tuna and fennel.
Main courses of salmon and porchetta also were good. Good presentation and good flavour. Good friendly service.
My only objection is the overpriced Prosecco, really too expensive for £29,50, even with the mark up I don't think it should be more that £15.00/20.00 max.
Overall it was a good experience and we liked also the decor and the cute front window of glass apples and pears!
I'd recommend it16/04/2013 00:00:00excellent food on high chairsDelicious modern Italian menu, well presented with excellent service. The fixed price lunch menu was good value.11/04/2013 00:00:00Informal laid back diningI would recommend Mele E Pere as a really laid back, relaxing place to eat. Its spacious, the service is good and they have a good choice. Its chilled out and a nice atmosphere for a good meal post work to catch up with friends.08/04/2013 00:00:00down the apples and pears......what a wonderful find away from the hustle and bustle of Soho - a calm, relaxing and deliciously filling lasagne and ravioli dishes were the order of the day...perfect in the on going chilly ness of London. The staff are great and efficient.28/03/2013 00:00:00The apple of my eye...I have had two fantastic meals at mele e pere now and I would recommend it to anyone. The service is great, the food is excellent value for money and the house prosecco is just outstanding. Drinks at the bar are also brilliant and the cocktails...well lets just say I wouldn't bother with most of the rest of Brewer St's offerings at the moment.26/03/2013 00:00:00I'd definitely recommend MeleI'd definitely recommend Mele e Pere to friends for both group bookings or just a good value midweek meal. The set menu was excellent with good veggie options and the wine was outstanding. I'd also highly recommend the Tiramisu!25/03/2013 00:00:00I have had the set menu hereI have had the set menu here a couple of times and it had been superb value and the food that the is served is exceptional. The staff were very accomodating and would recommend this restaurant to anyone.23/03/2013 00:00:00Dinner at Mele E PereMy friend and I celebrated our birthdays at Mele E Pere on Saturday 23rd March. We ordered the £21 group menu for our guests as there was a large group of us. The food was delicious and there was just enough choice for everyone to be satisified without being overwhelmed. My service ratings refer to the excellent service given to us by Peter who was professional and friendly and organised our party booking with ease. His colleague Ed was also helpful.
The venue is very nicely decorated and has a warm atmosphere.I will probably dine again there to try out their summer menu.23/03/2013 00:00:00A little Italian sunshine in LondonA refreshing new take on Italian restaurants and Italian food with a modern twist - daily menus, friendly staff, bright smart and lovely layout and decor - scrubbed wooden tables and "proper" napkins; pre and post "table d'hote" options and all of this close to Shaftesbury Avenue and theatre land. Even my otherwise boring lime and soda was served with style - lots of lime, lime wedges and Fever Tree soda water. At least four different types of bread in the breadbasket - and not a "bread stick" in sight.20/03/2013 00:00:00Birthday treat before theBirthday treat before the theatre. Staff very friendly and polite. Food fabulous! would recommend to all our friends and family. Steak melt in the mouth and sweet to die for! YUM YUM YUM!!16/03/2013 00:00:00And back again...!For me this place just gets better and better! Lively atmosphere, lovely service and delicious, delicious food.14/03/2013 00:00:00Tasty, good serviceThe food was tasty. My starters were very good. We had meatballs, salami and rice balls. My friend then had a really tasty pasta dish and I had artichoke ravioli which was nice but not as tasty as his.
Sorbets on the desert menu were a little too sweet for our taste.
The mains came a bit late and they removed our 2 glasses of wine - how's that for a nice gesture :)
The service was very friendly.12/03/2013 00:00:00Industrial chic meets yummyMele & Pere is a stone's throw from Piccadilly Circus and Soho has an unassuming store front but once you walk down the basement, the bustle and retro industrial feel creates a unique ambience. The food is always excellent, the service without fault. The bartenders are smiley and helpful suggesting concoctions instead of the usual inscrutable faces you find in most West End bars in the evening. A party of three, we had the great value 3 course plus prosecco £18 deal while my vegetarian friend opted for the a la carte. It's a shortish menu but I've not had a bad meal ever or a long wait. Decent wine list (all Italian if I recall). If you don't mind the din of chatter, it's a find. Recommended.12/03/2013 00:00:00Family Sunday LunchWe just celebrated Mother's Day with all generations - grandparents, children and grandchildren. Because of the sharing plates everyone got to try a bit of something. All plates were great, fried gnocchi were a favourite as well as the arancine. Vermouth as an aperitif is a MUST! Leave space for dessert, we decided the peanut butter ice cream is the best we've ever tasted.10/03/2013 00:00:00Lovely venue, yummy food, attentiveI took my mum to Mele E Pere on Mother's Day and we enjoyed the three course menu deal with a glass of bubbly. The food was fantastic, couldn't fault it - generous portions, made with care and consideration. The staff were very attentive but not overbearing. It was a lovely ambiance - not too loud (which was great because my mum is a little hard of hearing). Would definitely return.10/03/2013 00:00:00Just what we neededThe special offer 3 course Saturday lunch was just what we needed for our early celebration of Mother's Day. The relaxed, bright and spacious ambience of the restaurant and the excellent, friendly and attentive service complemented the very pleasant meal. The menu was creative and the food well cooked and well presented. The child in our group of five was well looked after. We felt welcome and enjoyed the occasion. Portions were just right for us - we don't like to have lunches which impede mobility in the afternoon!09/03/2013 00:00:00Prosecco on tapI was sold by the Prosecco on tap, but then the food was pretty good also :D
We shared aranchini, aubergine al forno amd lamb meat balls to start.
For mains I had an excellent dish of cod (with razor clams) with chips.
Dessert was ice-cream. This was £2.50 a scoop which I thought was a little expensive, given what it was and I wasn't certain it was homemade.
All in all a splendid meal and I will recommend Mele e Pere.09/03/2013 00:00:00Outstanding food!Although a little concerned about our first impressions the meal at Mele E Pere was excellent.
The menu was limited, but our group was very impressed with the quality of the food presented.
The service was non-pressured and we felt very at home.08/03/2013 00:00:00Second time aroundCame back here as the first time was so good. Went for the set three course menu with Prosecco. Food was all delicious. The ambiance was as lovely as I remembered from the first time and the service is just perfect. Not too attentive but attentive enough and we never had the feeling of being rushed along or forgotten. I'm actually going back again this week I like it so much!07/03/2013 00:00:00Well done!I booked here for a group of 5 on a Wednesday evening. We were seated downstairs in the restaurant which was fairly large with a bar as well, noise levels were occasionally slightly high but otherwise fine.
Service was very fast, we had the set menu (3 courses + glass of prosecco for £18) and the food came quickly and was very tasty.
I recommend this place for a pre/post theatre dinner or for a catch up with friends.06/03/2013 00:00:00A little bit of Venice in SohoHad a late Sunday lunch with girlfriends at Mele E Pere. Booked the restaurant after reading a variety of good reviews, we were certainly not disappointed. Food was excellent - particularly impressed with the swordfish and saffron gnochi. Will be going back time and time again. Highly recommend it for a chilled afternoon's dining.03/03/2013 00:00:00great time with friendsWe had a lovely time at Mele e Pere last Saturday. The service was great and attentive even though the restaurant was packed. All seven of us enjoyed our meal and the prosecco that came with the offer. I particularly liked the fact that their wine menu suited all budgets. I would definitely recommend and would return to this modern, buzzing restaurant.02/03/2013 00:00:00Another lovely meal at MeleAnother lovely meal at Mele e Pere. The service is consistently good - friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Their set menu is excellent value and offers some fantastic dishes. The swordfish was delicious and beautifully presented. The home-made gnocchi were also excellent. Add a nice, relaxed ambience and a varied, affordable wine list and you can't go wrong.
Will be back soon.02/03/2013 00:00:00sublime valueThis is a real London Gem of a restaurant, the atmosphere , the buzzy ambiance , the service bang on !! As for the food I had the set meal with glass of wine . Top notch food .and superb value ... How do they do it !! . Could not fault the chefs menu choice , flavours pop in your mouth . These chefs know how to cook good food . I eat out quite frequently around 4 - 5 times a week . I have been back to this restaurant 4 times now ... On business lunch , dinner with friends it's an all round Restaurant venue.
Mega thank you to all the team who work in this restaurant they could teach the rest of London a thing or two .01/03/2013 00:00:00Excellent place to eat.Really nice venue with plenty of space so you don't feel like you're sat with the people on the next table. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was amazing. Overall the price was ok, but my daughter chose pasta andthe had choice between small or large. It was a good job she chose the large (£14) as there was just enough for an average appetite even though we'd had bread and starters. She lives in London and said she will definitely go back with her friends.01/03/2013 00:00:00A hidden gem!Beautiful interior, excellent food and reasonably priced overall. Fabulous service and wine list. I'll be back - it feels my secret fantastic restaurant!01/03/2013 00:00:00Unusual and interesting!Fascinating arrangement of ingredients to make wonderful tasting dishes. I had the globe artichoke ravioli with monks beard (tuna eggs.. yes I had to ask...) and some great sea grass style vegetable on top. Great atmosphere as well, though suspect it could get noisy if very full. Had gone for the £18 menu with a glass of prosecco as this looked great value, but was lured aware by the al a carte menu, which isn't such great value as the portions are small. The home made ice cream is brilliant - but at £2.50 a scoop a little expensive.26/02/2013 00:00:00Great food and service - theGreat food and service - the set menu deal is outstanding value20/02/2013 00:00:00What a lovely and quirky place...What a lovely and quirky place... great service, amazing food and a cool atmosphere perfect for a date or catching up with friends, even a works dinner.
We had the 3 course meal for £18... there was no compromise on food, it was top class so amazing value. Slightly small portions though!18/02/2013 00:00:00Book at a Distance!Booked this restaurant for a large party pre-theatre dinner for my boss and several important customers. All came back with comments of good food and good service. My boss came back with good value - what more could a PA ask for!16/02/2013 00:00:00Great surpriseNever expected this place to even be a restaurant but booked a group booking and we all had fantastic food! Lovely place15/02/2013 00:00:00Amazing!!!!We went for the 3 Courses for £18 menu and the food was amazing! Really tasty and filling, and the cheese that we had for pudding came with the nicest pear chutney. The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and bustling. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves good food!15/02/2013 00:00:00Original cookingThis is not your average Italian restaurant so don't look for spag bol. Food is interesting and tasty as well as being unusual.12/02/2013 00:00:00Had a loveling evening withHad a loveling evening with friends at Mele E Pere.
