Diner Reviews
  • "Had very disappointing meal in Mango Tree. After hearing great things I expected amazing food so was surprised by how bland and tasteless it all was - we were warned dishes were hot and spicy but they simply weren't. Even with the 50% off offer, it was far more than I would expect to pay for this kind of food. We had been warned about the Thai New Year Celebrations so expected it to be noisy in there, the music and dancing was fine but I did take exception to the host who insisted on shouting so loudly down the microphone that it was impossible to hear what she was saying - or to have any form of conversation - this was not entertainment in any form and really spoilt our evening."

  • "We booked this restaurant for our daughter's birthday meal, the staff were very welcoming and accommodating, we brought a cake which was brought out after our main meal and they also sang 'Happy Birthday' which was well received. Food was served on time and was very tasty. Definitely book through Toptable to take advantage of the 50% discount which although does not apply to everything in the menu, it helps!"

  • "Booked a table for a meal after seeing a show at the theatre. Lovely meal and service; rounded the day off fantastically. Thank you."

  • "We had a delicious meal celebrating a friend's birthday. The service was a bit frosty to start but warmed up! Everyone enjoyed their food and with the 50% off deal, it is a great night out."

  • "I took my friends and I on a birthday lunch date to Mango Tree. Clearly the lunchtime service is probably not the best time to go.I ordered 52 - which was a chicken dish with a salad &1 of my friends ordered beef penang & sticky rice. My chicken was pink, there were burst blood vessels in it and it was raw in places. My friend her sticky rice literally came out of the packet, IT WAS THE SHAPE OF THE MICROWAVE PACKETS. When we mentioned this to the staff they were defensive and rude. One of ther servers said that the rice was "at their standard". When the manager Penang came she said that the chickens are corn fed and more pink and that it was marinade and not blood. I was really disappointed and unfortunately i will not be returning there."

  • "Great restaurant ....so close to Victoria so good for a quick catch up with friends. Yummy food and great service"
    dined on 14/04/2014
  • "Been a couple of times and good value with the discount. Wouldn't go full price as I think I don't think it's exceptional enough thai to warrant the menu price. Service is excellent."

  • "Great place to return to, to visit an old friend I hadn't seen in some years who is a real foodie with a love of South-East Asian food. The 50% offer makes the majority of the menu great value, but I would go anytime as the food is simply delicious, as is the choice of wines and cocktails. The service is very knowledge and the general environment adds to the enjoyment of the meal. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I was very disappointed that I booked through top table , yet I received no discount, the food was nice but way over priced for Thai food."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "The food was lovely, very good service but so expensive, without the discount deducted for top table, the price would be ridiculous."

  • "We had been to Mango Tree before and always enjoyed it. This time we had the pre-theatre menu which offers a good selection of dishes, something for everyone including vegetarians, and is very good value. The chicken satay starter is outstanding. The service at Mango Tree is excellent and very efficient. We finished our meal without ever feeling rushed and in good time for our concert."

  • "one of the best thai restaurants...a bit pricey without toptable offers though"

  • "Food was great, service was good. However the place was very noisy since the decoration and materials used in the construction act as amplifiers rather than absorbing the noise. Time to spend some money and upgrade the facilities..."

  • "Food was very good, we were on the Top Table 50% offer so it was well priced but not sure I would have paid full price. It's a really nice restaurant, well designed and has a good atmosphere. The staff are certainly welcoming and attentive but we felt they were too intrusive - stopping by every 5 minutes to check how things were, and often different staff asking the same things so they weren't coordinated and it made it difficult for us to complete a conversation!"
    dined on 08/04/2014
  • "Chicken satay and Thai fish cake starter nice. Stir fry noodles rather clumped together and similar to take away quality. Nothing special. One is made to feel hurried to eat up and leave"

  • "Went there again for a special occasion and not disappointed! Nice atmosphere, caring and efficient staff, and good meal."

  • "I attended on a Saturday lunchtime with my nan as a treat for my birthday. We are both fans of Thai food so really looked forward to trying something new. We were seated straight away, the service was excellent. They explained the Top table deal to us and then left us to choose our food. I never felt rushed, it was a nice easy going experience. Special touches made it perfect for celebrations. A few larger birthday tables had ordered cake and the whole staff would come out to sing Happy Birthday! Hot towels after eating were refreshing and appreciated for sticky fingers. Also (worth mentioning) the toilets were very clean and included beautifully scented hand wash and cream. Great for a treat and even better with the top table deal!"

  • "Good but not great food, service was slow -they lost our ticket. 45-1hr wait. but everyone was kind and polite. Ambience was good, loved the mango juice."

  • "The experience can be easily summarised: great food, nice location.Terrible service. We waited a considerable time at the bar, despite the place being fairly empty. When showed to our table, the waitress excelled herself in rudeness. She asked for our orders 3 times in a short period of time (5-6 mins?). The last time simply went "Ready?" after my minimal hesitation she added annoyed "Yes? No...?" and left without waiting for a response. We were rushed through the courses. Then we were asked if we wanted dessert. As I asked for a birthday cake in the booking (and specified to let me know if there were problems), I was confused. They did not bothered and they did not even apologise. However the food was very, very tasty and portions generous."

  • "This was our umpteenth visit to this restaurant and as always it was superb. Service, food, ambience all outstanding. A little pricey but hey, nothing great comes that cheaply. The Menu is extensive and varied. Highly recommended!"

  • "Fantastic, tasty and high quality food served with excellent presentation. Booking on toptable allowed 50% off from a set menu. Service was exceptional. We had a lovely evening and would definitely return again."

  • "A very noisy place where you have to fight to hear the person you have supper with."

  • "I booked a table for a quick bite to eat before going to the Apollo to watch wicked. The pre-theatre menu was really good value for money, with lots of good options available to suit a variety of tastes. Service was really quick and we managed to get to the theatre in time for the show without rushing. The waiters were attentative, very informed about the menu so were happy to advise on our food choices. The drinks were pretty pricey but fairly standard for a central London restaurant. My only criticism is the layout of the restaurant leaves you feeling your in a school canteen with tables squashed really close together in a line, not a very romantic or relaxing ambience but suitable for a quick bite before a show."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "I am very familiar with Thai food. Based on one visit, from what we ordered & tasted, The Mango Tree creates their own "versions" of classic Thai foods. The red and green curries were almost too sweet (especially the green) and without the flavour complexity we expected. The Tom Ka Gai soup tasted like it was made with a mix (no galangal, lemon grass or lime leaf pieces). The Pad Thai, veggie Salad rolls & grilled veggies were good but again, were lacking in complex layered flavour. The portions are small & the meal was not cheap by our North American standards. The service was great and I tipped beyond the 12.5% service charge added to the bill. The food was very good and if you don't expect classic Thai you probably won't be disappointed."
    dined on 31/03/2014
  • "Very very disappointed with the quality of food. It was not a real Thai experience. Tom Yum definitely lacking in body, prawn in the soup was tasteless and probably frozen. Was shocked that the tom yum costed around £8 which meant that it wasn't really good value with the 50% offer. Som Tum didn't taste correct. The stir fried beef main course sounded yummy on the menu but was actually really poor as the beef lacked flavour. The seafood on the fried noodles were really bland and probably frozen too. Overall this is a really poor experience and even any local Thai in London could beat the Mango Tree."

  • "Hi, I've been here a couple of times but over some years and the service is always good and the food is generally good but there is nothing that special to make this place stand out. We went on the 50% off deal and if we hadn't, it would have been pretty expensive. I think there are so many places in London that offer expeerience and amazing food for a lot less and so as much as there is nothing wrong with it, I certainly wont be rushing back."

  • "Mango Tree never fails to deliver. Our dinner was excellently cooked, charmingly served and first rate value. Highly recommended."

  • "This restaurant offers wonderful Thai food with a number of particularly interesting seafood dishes. The satay dishes for starters are a must and there is a large range of main courses. So good, I am working my way through the menu"

  • "This was a late decision to take advantage of the decent weather in London and Mango Tree did not disappoint. From the courtesy to the helpful suggestions, to the wine trials before section and the tasty food, it proved to be a wonderful experience. The selectionof vegeatarian options was considerable and then they were willing to alter other dishes to suit also. We over ordered and so had to ask fo some to be packed but due to an error in the kitchen lost this . The service and attention was spot on and kindly they made fresh servings as recompense. The Green curry, the Som tam were the highlight but all of the dishes were way of par so congratulations!"

  • "I wouldn't exactly call it a child friendly restaurant but they were very accomodating to my 4 year olds needs. They brought her food straight away with the our starters and were very fun and patient with her. The restaurant is lovely and the food amazing. The portions look small but they are definatley filling and tastes delicious. We went for a small dinner for my 30th birthday and it was most certainly the right choice."

  • "Love it here, been here so many times. My most favorite Thai place in London"
    dined on 17/10/2013
  • "Really good food and service but can be expensive without the totable discount. Also most of the good dishes are excluded from the deal so can be annoying. Overall fantastic service and will still continue to go there."

  • "Some unusual Thai dishes on the menu at Mango Tree. If you like eating out of leaves and pineapples, then Mango Tree provides great opportunities..."

  • "This is a great spot with fabulous food. We had the Sunday set menu which was excellent value. We all said we would return again, the food from the a la carte menu looked equally delicious. The drinks were quite pricey £7 for a non-alcoholic juice cocktail, but to be expected in a fine dining establishment. There were 4 generations in our party and we all had a good time."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "As always, Mango Tree was great. We don't live in London, but upon every visit, we must eat at Mango Tree. It never lets us down! Go and enjoy."

  • "I know local take away Thai restaurants that do MUCH better food for 1/2 the price. Even with the 50% off food offer, and only 1 glass of wine between 2, we still spent £60 and the food was disappointing. Flavouring was ok, but not amazing enough to make up for tough meat. I expected better for a nice looking place with sister restaurants in Thailand. It has the potential to be a great place if the food were improved. Its a shame because if the food were better i would have made it a regular."
    dined on 27/03/2014
  • "Mango tree never fails to disappoint in terms of food, and all servers were attentive. Quite pricey, even with a discount, as you do have to order accompaniments at full price and drinks are not that cheap either!"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "The food and the ambiance is is very good, But we were charged £9.60 for two bottles of still water. It amounted to half of the price of the set lunch (£20). Plain water should not be considered a drink to be billed for and in anycase not almost £5 per bottle! This was a serious blamish for an othewise delicious lunch."
