Mala RestaurantMy favourite indian restaurant. My friend and I came across this gem of a restaurant last year, since then it has been a firm favourite of ours. If you're looking for a lovely view, great food, good service then do try here.13/06/2013 00:00:00great bday dinneras a vegetarian this restaurant had a wide variety of choice. the staff were very attentive and friendly and got involved by recommending signature dishes
beautiful surroundings and nice atmosphere inside restaurant
only downside was the lighting was too dim otherwise highly recommended07/06/2013 00:00:00Perfect....I only get to visit London recreationally once or twice a year and always make sure that I visit the Mala. The food is always excellent and the staff are fantastic. We were taken to our table 3 minutes later than our requested time and we were given free poppadums' as an apology (we didn't even realise the delay as we waited with a bottle of wine). The recommendations by the waiters are always worth a try, we had a lovely first course chosen by the waiter which wasn't yet listed on the menu. Service is great and unobtrusive. Would definitely recommend, you won't be disappointed.31/05/2013 00:00:00Very EnjoyableWe really enjoyed our first visit to the Mala Restaurant for my husbands birthday. The service and food was very good, although I thought some of the dishes on the menu were over priced. The restaurant has a lovely setting (St Katherine's Dock), which makes a visit a bit more special.19/05/2013 00:00:00You won't be disappointedThis is the second time now dining at Mala, each time has been an extremely good dining experience. The food has been spot on and the whole restaurant creates a relaxed atmosphere. You're not hemmed in with difficulty getting round other diners so you really have your own space.07/05/2013 00:00:00Good foodThis was the first time I tried Indian food and I loved it. Service was great, staff talked me through the menu and explained what to eat. If you're ordering curry don't have any starters as it is too big to have. Overall, great dining.05/05/2013 00:00:00Thorough enjoyable mealI booked Mala for the first time last Saturday to celebrate my birthday, with friends, after a matinee theatre show. We will definitely return. The food and service were very good. It was a pity the weather wasn't warmer for stroll around the dock to look at the boats. We had a thoroughly good night.27/04/2013 00:00:00good foodBeen here loads of with various different frienda and food is always consistently good. Had thali veg this time and they were very flexible in making changes to set menu and there was lots of food. May need to take some of it away as too nice to waste27/04/2013 00:00:00Best Indian ever!Truly enjoyed the food there. THE best Indian I ever had.
We had the advantage of our Indian colleague to organise dishes but even if you don't I genuinely recommend this place.18/04/2013 00:00:00Post exhibition late lunchMy friend Alien and I when to the Tate modern for the Lichtenstein exhibition and came here to discuss our impressions of the work. We had very fine prawn pooris, the house signature dish and a good deal of Cobra beer. The food was rich and delightful. We should have ordered some red wine as an accompaniment. The location is lovely and quiet.09/04/2013 00:00:00One of the best Curries I've had!Had a lovely meal booked for two via top table whic hwas extrenely easy to do! I woudl 100% recommend that you try the tandoori chicken salad starter - simply amazing! The nahns were extremely light. Fantastic meal :)30/03/2013 00:00:00ExcellentI thoroughly enjoyed Mala! The food was excellent and the service was very good, I will definitely go there again.14/03/2013 00:00:00birthday partyWe have had a birthday party (dinner) with 9 people and food and service were outstanding. We will come back!08/03/2013 00:00:00Friendly spot!Fantastic spot in London, unknown to most. Food is eally good, staff is friendly and competent and the location is outstanding!19/01/2013 16:00:00Excellent !!We booked a table for 4 and all of us were very impressed with the quality of the food and the level of service we received. St Katherine's Dock has always been a favourite of our - cant think why we have taken so long in getting round to dining at Mala. We will be back again14/12/2012 16:00:00NiceDue to location I expected Mala to be expensive. My wife and I had the set meal which was £27 each. A selection of different starters was a nice start although one piece of chicken and one small lamb kebab along with some other bits weren't really enough. The main of lamb spinach and also a chicken curry were ok but quite bland. The added sundries, dessert and coffee made it enjoyable but not somewhere I'd be rushing back to.09/11/2012 16:00:00Delicious Indian FoodFor the entree we ordered the Delhi Aloo Tikki Chaat and for the main Karahi Gosht and Butter Chicken. The entree, a deep fried potato fritter, lightly spiced and coupled with a refreshing yoghurt chickpea salsa was delicious. Was light and wet out appetite for the mains.. My only gripe is that the portion was small, and not quite enough for 2 people to share, we could have easily had one each.
Our mains arrived, and they were absolutely superb. The butter chicken had a rich creamy sauce. The Karahi Gosht was out this world amazing. The lamb was tender and flavoursome which melted and fell to pieces with the first bite, the sauce was rich and full of flavour. Will definitely be making a second visit.01/11/2012 17:00:00An excellent meal with veryAn excellent meal with very good service. This is adnittedly a favorite of ours but I heartily recommend the Mala for those who appreciate fine food prepaed and served to a very high standard.29/10/2012 17:00:00Dinner at MalaMala is quite a lovely find in the docks near Tower Hill. However not sure if the choices I made weren't great as I had been expecting more based on the lunch I had there before, but rather than really lovely, it was just nice. Will still try it again though.27/09/2012 00:00:00Lunch at a lovely IndianMala has a lovely lunch option. Not the cheapest Indian, but the smells in the lovely docks just draw you in. The lunch option was good value and the food was fabulous!23/09/2012 00:00:00Mala still topsMy friends and I have used Mala many times. I think it has the best Indian food I have had in this country and would use Mala in preference to well-known West end venues. The staff are attentive but not annoyingly so. They handle special menu-related requests very well. You will not be rushed. The restaurant is generally busy, even in winter. Booking for parties of more than 4 would be wise. The decor is not imposing and there are good views of St. Katherine Docks through the wall of windows on the ground floor. Secure coat check is available and the washroom facilities are kept sparklingly clean. Hard to know what more they could do to improve. However, this is not a cheap night out.
Thanks guys. I will be back.17/09/2012 16:00:00very good value lunch menuvery good value lunch menu which you have to ask for and service was slow to begin with despite being only 6 other diners being served. Nice location in Catherine Dock and very well presented.14/09/2012 00:00:00big bold flavorsgo hungry - you'll need the room for all the big bold flavors. really delicious, but afraid maybe we over ordered. a really enjoyable traditional indian meal in a nice quiet location by st katherine's docks.13/08/2012 00:00:00Mala - A view to the MarinaMala is an old favourite and always provides a good meal with excellent service.
The view over St. Katherine's Dock is very entertaining - try to seat by the window.
Ambiance is very pleasant and comfortable.10/08/2012 00:00:00Curry with a viewNot the first time we have eaten at Mala, we are never disappointed, with the food or service.
The position of the restaurant is on the waterside of St Katherine's Dock so makes for a very pleasant
venue to meet friends and family for a curry. I don't believe top table has a deal with Mala to make it better value,
maybe I can suggest?20/06/2012 16:00:00
