Le Pont de la Tour Ratings and Reviews

The restaurant fit out is excellent and the location is really special (with a view of Tower bridge). But although there were an army of staff, the service was clunky and not what I would expect for the price paid (it should be seamless). Also, there were the main dishes off the menu (the menu is not extensive) on a Saturday night! Not good.

Perfect evening. Charming staff, excellent food, refurbishment tasteful and comfortable.
Poorly cooked food, minute portions
What a disappointment. The only good thing about this place is the view! As I was waiting for my companion, before any food was chosen, the sommelier asked if I wanted a cocktail (OK) but also if I wanted to order any wine for the meal. I said as soon as we ordered. But then there was then no sign of her The first course arrived after a bit of a wait and I told a passing waiter we wanted wine, I had to ask two more times before she pitched up again at which point our starter was already eaten. The food itself was poor. Teeny tiny portions, poorly cooked. The cauliflower veloute soup was thin and overly sweet. Main course of lamb was flavourless and just dumped on the plate. Dessert too (an icecreamy thing) was minute and tasted of nothing. This is supposed to be a restaurant serving good French cuisine. Anyone French would be horrified
We had been to this restaurant many times in the past, but not recently. It was great to see their recent refurbishment and the set menu through Opentable was great value for money.
Great place, great food
We had a lovely time here for a Friday night date-night. The atmosphere was great, perfect for our evening. The food was great. The service varied - the staff were very friendly and were obviously expert-level but I think they might have been looking after too many tables as we sometimes struggled to get their attention. It was overall a fantastic evening & we look forward to going back!
Had a lovely evening celebrating. Sparkling wine pricey but very nice and food excellent. Lovely view of Tower Bridge and a very pleasant walk along the river back to London Bridge. Have now been here several times and would definitely come back but would be nice if they offered a slightly cheaper sparkling wine or prosecco and I would have ordered more!
The service was absolutely outstanding, from pre drinks in the bar and throughout the evening the staff were wonderful. The food was very good and the whole ambience was great. Highly recommended.
Pont de la Tour is a dining tour de force. The quality of food and service is peerless. The view of Tower Bridge, the iconic image of London is beautiful. The atmosphere is so conducive to a top class food experience. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. It is not their fault I stuffed my face with the bread rolls so couldn't finish my fillet of steak...I know ridiculous but even the bread rolls were worth it. The light twinkling of the Thames, the clink of glasses, the chatter of happy dinrers, I could go on. It is deservedly expensive and one I shall I visit again at the earliest opportunity but will probably lay off the bread rolls......
Wonderful service. Staff were very attentive. Recommend to go at lunchtime as lots of space and quieter. Also was seated near window which was nice, but views aren't that great due to barge moored opposite. Food was well presented and plenty of choice makes this worth revisiting to sample more.
It was our third time at the restaurant and we were very disappointed. We had the Dover sole and it was dry. We mentioned it to the waiter and he told us that they had a new chef. Also the starters took very long, they said there was a problem in the kitchen. They apologized by taking off the starters from our bill.
Fit for special occasions
We had a lovely table with views over Tower Bridge. The food was quite tasty. Quantities are fine - we certainly did not leave hungry. It was quite nice to be able to go to the Pont de la Tour bar next door after our meal to enjoy some pretty good live music.

La Pont de la tour
Nice view over the Tower Bridge, good place for dinner
Great location, very good food
We were lucky enough to eat at Le Pont de la Tour on a lovely evening and sat at a table outside. We had the taster menu for £55 which was 5 courses (although it was a bit of a cheat with one being an amuse bouche). The food was very good - which you would expect for the price - and the service was attentive without being fussy. It was difficult to decide between 4 and 5 stars but I just erred on the side of 4 because for the price, I think there are some better restaurants but it was still a very enjoyable dining experience.
La provence in London
Great food Outstanding service Amazing view of the london bridge The provence menu is a great value

Great food, wonderful setting, super wine-list, attentive but unobtrusive service
Lovely food and great service
I was very impressed with the service, very professional and knowledgeable, they were extremely friendly as well. I liked the décor and atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Le Pont de la Tour classy but still inclusive
London at its finest has an ability to offer, quality, and wonderful ambience without the boring stuffiness and pompousness sometimes associated with this experience. Le Pont de la Tour is a shining example of this, and if you want to eat in a wonderful location, with excellent views of the river, and the menu is divine then look no further. This has always been on my special treat restaurant list, and I have used it for significant celebrations. But this could be a large or small social or business group, it is entirely suitable for both. What underpins this for me is the staff, who balance professionalism with charm which offers great customer care without being snotty or inappropriate. That feeling of being cared for is such an obvious expectation from a restaurant its surprising how many miss the mark. The interior design doesn't have the wow factor that is offered in other restaurants but it is still attractive and comfortable. The nightly piano player, and outside seating area adds to the experience. If you are looking for a special occasion restaurant which is a fit for all occasions then look no further.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who looked after us on the night of our 25th wedding anniversary. The food was superb and the service we received was outstanding. We had the taster menu with wine selection and I would definitely recommend this pairing to anyone who wishes to have pure indulgence and fine wine accompaniment. The views over Tower bridge were wonderful. Thank you staff for such a lovely experience!!
We have had our dinner at the restaurant, but as it was not the first time and we had an excellent experiences before, we were a little disappointed. The dishes we ordered were just OK, without blowing our minds away and the wait was a bit longer then we anticipated. However, the ambiance was as excellent as ever!
The restaurant could be so much better
Love the terrace at Pont de la Tour so booked a table for lunch to enjoy the sunny weather last weekend. As usual service was very good but the food was so disappointing. We were two and had foie gras from the a la carte menu and ravioli from set lunch menu as starters - both arrived in a pool a not very nice gravy. Ordered dover sole grilled (£38) from a la carte and chicken from set menu as main courses. Dover sole was burnt and chicken was completely tasteless - presentation was not great. Pudding was good and wine from Provence was good also. Total cost, including a beer and glass of champagne was £150 - expensive for lunch but fine if it is a good meal. I live nearby and chose Pont de la Tour this time as it is nice to eat outside on a sunny day. Usually go to Bermondsey St, Antico is a current favourite, excellent food and very well priced.
Underwhelming all round
Intending to go for the pre-theatre deal we decided to order a la carte after being presented with an insubstantial choice . Both starter and main course were highly underwhelming with a strong message to me that I might be fooled into enjoying myself by a contemporary style presentation..Lamb and skimpy dried out vegetables do not improve because they are layed out in a line across a large bare white plate. The wrong wine was brought and then taken away which lead to my confusion as I realised that I was having wine poured from a carafe when I had ordered only a glass. I felt foolish for thinking I might be receiving a top up because they had made a mistake with the first wine. Am I old-fashioned in being horrified by paying £123.00 (2 people) for an insubstantial meal? My very fond memories of this once Conran owned restaurant were finally wiped clean as two "petite fours" were offered - the type that even as a child I would reject as the "black magic" were passed around. Shocking.
A little disappointing
Opentable advertised the Match wines tasting menu at a lower price that the restaurant charged! Also, very long explanations about the wines and not a word about the food!

my wife and I booked to celebrate her graduation. I requested a table with a view which the restaurant obliged with overlooking the cityscape over the river. The ambiance was buzzy but did not disturb our meal or conversation. We had the fixed Provence lunch menu which was superb. The portion of ravioli was substantial as was the cod that followed. Too full for dessert we declined however the staff presented us with a plate of dessert tasters with a congratulatory message. Great food, great atmosphere, great location and great attention from the staff. Our return is only in a matter of time.
Booked a table for 7 people, for a birthday dinner. We chose the set menu - 3 course at £30 per person. The food was amazing. I have eaten at the restaurant on several occasions and knew what to expect. They didn't disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their food. The staff were friendly. Service was good but could be improved. Price was great. Overall, a wonderful evening and would recommend the restaurant to friends and family.
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary which was kindly acknowledged upon arrival and at the end of our meal with a decorated plate and candle. Upon arrival although we were told that our table was ready we weren't told that is was outside as I had requested so as we were early decided to have a drink at the bar first but soon realised this was a bad idea. It was very hot, there was an odd smell coming from the bar area and the piano was far too loud. We were very pleased and relieved when we asked to go to our table instead that it was outside. I was disappointed with my meal, the oysters were delicious but my starter of swordfish and main of fish were quite bland and the pineapple dessert didn't live up to expectation either in flavour or portion size. In contrast my husband loved his pork main and crepe suzette. The service was very good.
Excellent meal in perfect location
Always consistently well prepared good food in the perfect setting overlooking Tower bridge Staff are friendly and efficient
My wife and I went to the Le Pont for lunch after visiting the Sky Garden. It was a lovely sunny day and the dining experience turned it from a nice day out to a perfect day out. The staff were attentive and efficient, and also friendly, helpful and courteous. We ate from the set menu and the food was delicious. Beautifully cooked and presented with just the right sized portions for us. We had a bottle of Montepulciano at £58 that I thought was a bit expensive, but it was excellent quality. Boris Johnson was seated a couple of tables from us but we didn't let it spoil our meal! Sitting on the terrace at Le Pont de la Tour eating good food and drinking good wine is a wonderful experience.
..had a delightful lunch in a fab restaurant overlooking the river in the best city in the world!..the food was good, service a little slow, staff immpecable!.. it was a bonus as lunch turned out to be a rather leasurely affair!..highly recommended..
I have not eaten here for 5 years but what a difference. Zoot suited waiters condescended to serve miniscule mediocrity at inflated prices. The cod was raw it was as if someone had pressed the defrost rather than cook button, the duo of lamb was barely three mouthfuls and the wine list though extensive, was outrageously expensive. Apart from the view there is nothing to recommend this restaurant.
Good French restaurant with river views
Lovely French restaurant with spectacular views of the river and Tower Bridge. Food is very good and service is excellent. Felt the wine list is very overpriced compared to similar restaurants.....
Fantastic location - great food
Lovely setting right by the river. The tables are slight small but the food is great. The special lunch or dinner options are particularly worthwhile. Good selection of wines and friendly service.
Pricey but worth it
Came here on a Monday night as wanted to try it out for a while now. Very busy which is always a sign of a good restaurant on a Monday! Service is second to none and we both felt very well looked after. Id recommend the lamb main course which was deliscious and the cheese board was fantastic! Just wished the weather had been nicer so we could of sat outside!
Fab leisurely lunch
We were able to take advantage of the London sunshine with fantastic views overlooking the Thames. We are from the set lunch menu which still had s good variety and was excellent value at £25 for 2 courses or £30 for 3 courses.
Great food in a superb location
A fantastic restaurant in a beautiful location. We dined on the terrace, overlooking Tower Bridge as the sun was setting. Food, service and location all excellent. Highly recommended.
Excellent food, excellent service, peace and calm. Perfect birthday treat.
We enjoyed a lovely Bank Holiday Monday lunch
I had been to the restaurant many times in the past for business meals but a £25 fixed price menu caught my eye and I thought I would try a visit with the family . I had forgotten what a marvellous place it is: beautiful food and setting.
Family meal in town
The food was delicious and the service flawless. We ate from the menu du jour to kurb costs but the food was still delicious!
must have been an off night for the chef
Excellent service, great location but dreadful food...every plate was mediocre to bad and excessively late. I felt sorry for the front of the house team as they did their best to manage the situation. AT least we did not have to pay for the food... definitely a plus in managing disappointed customers.
